OET is an alternative test of English that was designed for healthcare professionals. It is relatively easier to prepare for and has been shown to have higher success rate than ielts. This thread is for those who have written/passed OET and those who are preparing to write it. Let’s get in here to help ourselves. I wrote the test on 20 July and I had the desired grade in all the tasks, despite what I will consider as light preparation. As we all know that the writing and speaking task in OET is profession-specific, the listening and reading is same. So, this thread is aimed at creating more awareness about the test, sharing useful materials and tips that will help candidates in the test. We can also upload our writing tasks for correction by those with better knowledge of English. It is advisable that intending candidates source for more information regarding OET, if the result will be useful for the desired purpose. As of now, it’s not accepted yet in the US and Canada. For more information about OET, visit: https://www.occupationalenglishtest.org/ |

It’s true that job is now relatively scarce, unlike before, even for other nationalities but it’s wrong to discourage people from coming to search for jobs in UAE. As someone rightly wrote, the thread was not meant to discourage people from coming here. There are many reasons why most Nigerians are not getting jobs. Mostly, these days, it’s what we have to offer in terms of experience and expertise and how we position ourselves for the little opportunities that gets us the job. Nobody is interested in what you went through or how much you’ve spent to make yourself available in UAE. We do help ourselves beyond what many are insinuating here but you can’t take over people’s life or force them to take some steps to better their chances just because you want to help them. The fact that most people that were assisted don’t give comments to appreciate our kind gesture on pages of nairaland or elsewhere for people to read doesn’t mean that Nigerians are not helping one another. As per whether Nigerians are suffering here, fingers are not equal and you don’t expect things to automatically turn rosy for you once you move out of Nigeria. Finally, I don’t think it’s necessary for us to litter the thread with how much we are enjoying life or suffering in uae but I can assure you that there are many Nigerians who are doing great financially and in their careers here in UAE and Alhamdulillah, I am one of them. |

Well, I don’t use the said bridge but if what was put up there is how far they could go in 4 years and you don’t see that as a slow progress then, I can say that you deserve the kind of leadership you are getting. PS: You don’t need to quote me on this again. |

Congratulations on your job. I have a feeling that this country has a way of knocking you down to the lowest point you’ve ever find yourself before picking you up again IF you don’t give up. Everybody has a story. At a point, the only thing that kept me going was because nothing was left behind at home. Peachycute: Pls I am a Registered Nurse here in Nigeria, what is my hope of getting job in Dubai either as a Nurse or Nurse assistant. Thanks You can come and try your luck once you’re eligible to work in that capacity. To be eligible, you need to be licensed/pass the health authority licensing exam. There are 3 main health authorities(DHA, MOH and HAAD). They all have the same requirements, You can download and go through the PQR(professional Qualification Requirement) for nurse in UAE on google. Most people chose Dubai health authority (DHA) by default because it’s the most popular of the Emirates and the process is seamless, making job opportunities to be highly competitive because it’s saturated already. Of the 3, HAAD is preferred but it’s licensing exam is relatively more difficult to pass compere to the other 2. If you’re interested, start the process and ensure that you have passed before coming here to search for job. The chances of getting job even with your haad isn’t 100% but more promising. |

SirWellington: Hello everyone,
Just a quick on, anyone has an idea of how I can get a partition or room in Dubai for just a week for blacks, my fiancee is coming to see me in August and she will be staying for a week, she will be booking and presenting her passport as ID because Most hotels require physical copy of international passport for both parties (you know the case with most of our ababs here) tho ibhave thevl soft copy of my passport and my Nigerian national id, I stay in ajman but will be coming into dubai once she arrives by mid August.
Anyone with useful info should please mention me.
Regards. almost all of the hotels wont bother asking you for your passport once you provide your ID. You can use Airbnb for good deals and there are many affordable hotel apartments too. |

No. for his eight years reign there were no extra judicial killing like it use to be, robbery and cultism was brought to the barest minimum and you guys thought its all came about sleeping or some magic wand? the party in ogun is better settle into governance than witch hunting. no government in Nigeria ever that has embarked on vendetta and witch hunting has ever succeeded. I believe you guys forgot he bought Armored Personnel Carrier? that need probing too. security equipment he bought legally and under the supervision of the police when he came into office and on leaving he returned and handed them over to the appropriate authority to avoid it all falling in the wrong hands. I'm not here against us doing the right thing. my question is are we doing it in good fate? every state house has it own security mechanism but the issue is did he hand over every thing in stock? Well said |
