Watch the government moving battalions of army and security agents to be stationed in places where the protests have been so much successful like Ojota the moment the crowds disperse. I can assure you they won't allow the people back at the same places to continue the protests. The protests must not be suspended until agreement is reached. |
An insult to all protesting Nigerians |
As the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) induced industrial strike enters its fifth day, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday directly accused the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) of incitement against the Federal Government. The party also said there was nothing wrong to borrow to finance investment or to fix the economy. The position of the PDP was made by the Acting National Secretary, Dr. Musa Babayo. He also insisted that the deregulation was done in the best interest of the Nigerian economy. He explained that the deregulation of the oil sector may be painful in the short run, but it remains the best policy in the long run. He urged government to think of other ways of raising fund, than depending on oil. PDP listed the actions and utterances of senior members of the CPC to support its claim that they are inciting Nigerians to use the incident of the fuel subsidy crisis to rebel against the federal government. The party went further to state that the current revolutionary crisis taking place in the Arab world will never happen in Nigeria. In an interview with journalists, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Prof. Ahmed Alkali, said: “it is obvious also that there are people that are exploiting this situation. Already yesterday in television I saw Tunde Bakare who now is talking on behalf of what he called Save Nigeria Group (SNG). Bakare is calling for mass action. This Tunde Bakare, in the past belonged to Save Nigeria Group (SNG). “Today as you know him in the political circle is not the Pastor he was. He was a vice presidential candidate of a party, CPC, that was defeated in the last general election. So, if people like Tunde Bakare are calling for mass action, you cannot look at him from the perspective of religion where he belongs or from the Save Nigeria Group where he claims to be, but from the point of view of partisan politics. He is a voice of CPC. “We have also watched demonstrations around the country. In Katsina State we have cases of people who are active CPC members who are part of the frontline in mobilising people who demonstrate. We heard of somebody called Mustapha Inuwa, who is a former SSG in Katsina and somebody called Alhaji Abubakar Bako, who are all CPC Abubakar Bako, who are all CPC members and part of the mobilisation. “I have also listened to BBC. I have heard people belonging to other political parties saying they are going to join mass action. What does it tell us? Does it only speak of the legitimate concern of the Labour Movement for its members? No. Political interest has also come in, in full force”, the spokesman of the ruling party stated. On the possibility of the current crisis in the Arab world and the Occupy Movement taking place in London replicate itself in Nigeria, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP said it cannot happen or take place in Nigeria because of different political variables. “I want to say that people who are talking about duplicating occupy London, and so on in Nigeria. Nigerians are patriotic and are concerned about their country, that’s the general thing, but we shouldn’t allow ourselves to drift and say because somebody is doing something there and such; because the variables, the political management systems of such countries are different. “Things happening in the Arab countries, even in the East African countries, even in the West African countries; the Nigerian model has been different. Nigeria is for instance where you cannot find any individual becoming the alpha and omega, who will get to an office and stay in it 10, 20, 30 and 40 years and would not want to leave. It can’t happen in Nigeria,” he explained. Alkali said Nigerian cannot avoid a variant of eruption which appears to be fashionable in some places into the Nigerian society, stating, “Nigeria is a different country, we have to run it differently.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/pdp-accuses-cpc-of-inciting-nigerians/107013/ |

I think they should respect the court order and stop the strike because what goes around comes around. they might be in the same position in the future where an injunction may be placed on the FG restraining them from implementing certain action. Should the FG disobey such an order? I think everybody should respect the decisions of the court whether favorable or not. After all the removal of fuel subsidy could be the breakthrough Nigeria is looking for if only the Funds generated by its removal is wisely spent Listen to this argument on the link below: http://asewele-television..com/2012/01/cbn-governor-sanusi-lamido-sanusi.html |

This should have been the sort of problems those trying to re-brand Nigeria should have dealt with. They should have made it clear that generalizing and stereotyping the whole nation for the evil deeds of some few individuals is not acceptable. At least these foreign companies are still making millions from their operations to and from Nigeria, and these are from hard working, honest Nigerians. |

Doesn't GEJ realize that the damn Boko Haram are becoming more brazen in their dastardly acts every day. The right thing he should do is to find ways of nipping the problem in the bud before it grows into something bigger. It will be wrong for him to expect that the problem will just fizzle away. http://asewele-television..com/ |
