Christianity EtcRe: "Millions Of Muslims In Nigeria Are Coming To Jesus" - Man Says (Photos) by drlateef: 7:54pm On May 30, 2018
Jokers. You go to ACADIP venues and witness live Christians converting to Islam in droves. Outside Nigeria and all over the world, Islam is the fastest growing religion up till now. Here in UK, churches are being converted to mosques. OP must be joking. The era of forceful conversion of Muslim's using access to education and jobs, and the use of magic which they call miracles are over. People's eyes are now open.

It was Kerosene importation obviously and as long as the company met all the requirements legally required to bag a lifting contract I don't see how Bola can be implicated because at no did she hold any position in govt other than being a friend of Patience Jonathan and IF the the contractor used his profit to dash her it's his concern
Can you tell me why she was paid for job not done? Have you checked how Patience Jonathan obtained the oil? At worst she will be culpable as an accomplice in illegal oil sale.If it was a clean deal they will not pay her, and she will not transfer some of the proceeds to Patience Jonathan.

This case is just sensational for nothing because from the narrative I Don't see where a crime was committed if she took money from a contractor to in a bid to lobby kerosene lifting LPO for him when she was neither a govt official nor a the minister of petroleum ...There can only be a case of the contractor reported that she defrauded him .... let's not be emotional pleas the EFCC doesn't have a valid case here
I don't know if you read the story fully. They stated that Patience Jonathan facilitated the lifting of the oil from NNPC to the company. The company gave Bola her own yam because of the facilitation through her co-thief Patience Jonathan. Patience also got her own yam from it. Now some stupid Ijaw youths will come out to shout persecution. Those who stole their resources without investing in their environment are being given pat on the back.

A Nigerian in the diaspora was shocked to find that Ankara material costs as much as 490,000 Naira in Harrods shop.

Ayohtunde shared photos of some of the materials with the price tags. One costs £625 while another costs £1175.

Nigerians on social media are shocked at the price and say it is way too overpriced, even for premium Nigerian prints.

The same original Hollandais goes for between £35 to £100 at Liverpool Street in London, the popular place where Nigerians flock for their foreign materials. Harold is the most expensive place to buy things. It's located near Chelsea football club, the most expensive neighbourhood in London. So what do you expect?

FamilyRe: My Marriage Has Finally Ended by drlateef: 5:26pm On Jan 05, 2018
Hello peeps. It's with a heavy heart that I have to say that my marriage is on it's last legs(or so I think). Sometimes last year I made a post asking for advice and things actually got a bit better afterwards (https://www.nairaland.com/3415462/dont-feel-attracted-wife-anymore), but alas, it didn't last.

My wife returned to her cold self and it just went downhill from there. We started arguing again over the tiniest of reasons. Some of the reasons for our petty arguements was the issue of her engrossing herself in school activities that sometimes took her attention from home duties. I told her a couple of times that i wasn't against her doing things like what she did and wasn't in the way of her achieving her desires and goals, but she shouldn't forget she's a mother and wife and one of her primary duties is her family. Sometimes she'd spend so much time in one fruitless meeting or the other, and when she gets home, she'll be too tired to do anything. It got to a point I had to do alot of cooking for the house so that the kids won't be hungry. It's not that she didn't do her duties. It's just the inconvenience of it all and the way her outside activities affected us that really got to me.

Another thing that got on my nerves was her attitude to her degree. Agreed, with all the things she did, she still maintained a very good GPA and was one of the best students in her department. Her lecturers would at times request she take their classes for them while they attended to other pressing issues. It was a good thing and i felt proud, but in her mind the main thing she wanted to do was business. Buying and selling like she did when we first got here and before she started school. She wanted to set up a store where she'd import and sell african prints. There were days during the summer when I'd plan on doing Uber to supplement the little I brought in as a paycheck, only for her to tell me she'd registered for one event or another to display her wares. I'll just have to stay back at home with the kids till she returned later in the night. It really did get me upset and I once asked her what the point of the degree she had studied for if all she wanted to do was sit in a store and sell stuff? We had this argument several times on end.

What eventually broke the camel's back was something she said that I'll never forgive her for. One evening, after putting the kids to bed, she approached me and said she wanted to apply for a loan. I asked her what she needed the loan for. She said for her shop. How much does she need? Ten thousand dollars. How does she expect to apply for ten thousand dollars when we have no way of paying back? Besides, where does she expect me to get the collateral from? She said someone would stand in for her. I told her I don't support the idea and she should be patient. At least after her graduation, she would be able to work full time and earn a better pay which she could then channel to doing whatever she wanted. She said no. She doesn't want to work, but sell her stuff. We started bickering back and forth about this cos I was already fed up of the whole issue, and at some point she screamed, saying I do not support her as a husband, and maybe she would have been better off marrying Awwal.

***
Awwal was another guy who fancied her when we met during our youth service in camp; she had once told me that back then she loved him as much as she loved me, and if she had to choose, she would have picked him instead of me. I asked her why she then chose me, and she said her late mother had advised her "don't make a future husband into an ordinary boyfriend, and don't make an ordinary boyfriend into a husband." In other words, don't confuse lust for love.
***

She realized what she said and immediately began to apologize. I don't know how I kept my cool, and I walked away quietly. It only got worse after then. We no longer talked liked we once did apart from the necessary exchanges. I let her do whatever pleased her. Our arguements continued and sometimes we wont speak for days. I started keeping late nights, staying more in the lab after school or sometimes driving to a bar to drown my sorrows. I tried getting a marriage counselor, but the damage had already been done. Our sex life became virtually non-existent. We just remained together because of the kids.

A man has needs, and if he wasn't getting them at home, he'd start looking outside. I'm not proud to say this, but during some of my late nights out, I'd visit a discrete gentleman's club. It was on one of these outings I met one of the girls who danced there. She was a young college kid in her junior year. Over the next week or so she gave me a listening ear and I poured my heart out to her. She invited me over to her place one evening (she shared a three bedroom house with two other girls), one thing led to another and she was giving me a full n@ked massage with her body. We didn't have penetrative sex, but she gave me the sexual release my wife had denied me for such a long time. I offered to pay for her services afterwards, but she told me not to, as it was just her way of showing she cared. We ended up making similar arrangements a few more times, and each time we took it a bit further. The furthest we went was the time we had a 69 on her bed, and she came all over my face while I splooged her mouth. I always had to wipe myself off properly and take a shower once I got home to rid of all the oil and smell of pheromones on my person.

I guess my wife suspected something was going on cos she asked me one day if i had been seeing anyone. I asked her why she asked, and she shrugged, murmuring something to the fact that it was unusual of me not to have disturbed her for sex in such a very long time. I told her since she had decided to control when and the frequency we had sex, I had accepted my plight. I told her if she wanted sex, she knew where to find me. That night, I woke up to her snuggling up to me. It was the first time in a long while she would come to me. Try as much as I could, I just couldn't achieve an erection. My time with the stripper girl had taken away the sexual affection I had for my wife. She noticed this and started crying, saying i don't love her anymore. I simply told her it was just the stress. The following day, she was back to her normal self.

Last month, she finally graduated. I was happy that at least she would get a place to work and earn some money. But what she told me a few days later came as a shocker. She told me she wanted to go back to Nigeria. Her plan was to fulfill her dream of setting up a clothings line and since i don't want to support her, she'd rather go on without my support. I asked her if she was joking, but i could see she was dead serious. I asked who would take care of the kids if she leaves, and she said she intends going with them. infact, she had already told her sister to start looking for a nice school for them at home. I just couldn't believe it. Why make that kinda decision without consulting me first? She just told me her mind was made up. I tried changing her mind, but she remained adamant. Unknown to me, she had already booked their flight back home a long time ago. I had to call my parents to talk some sense into her, but afterwards they just told me to let her come home, that she may just need the change of environment for a while. I called and asked her sister why she didn't tell me about the plan knowing how close we were, but she simply said it was her sister's decision.

They left two days after Christmas. To date I'm yet to receive a call from her. I've sent her several emails but she hasn't responded to even one. She told my mum she hasn't had the chance to get a line yet, but I know that's a lie. It doesn't take you more than a week to get a phone and a line in Nigeria. Sadly, I may have to accept the conclusion that my marriage is over.]

Hello friend,

If Awwal is in Nigeria, then you should know that she is going back to him. And yes you can fight for your marriage by making people to check her etc., but I don't think she loves you and values you anymore. No woman who loves her husband will leave him alone to go and pursue a business in Nigeria. There is a greater attraction to her over there in Nigeria. I daresay Awwal may be the major reason for going back. If am wrong, then her case will be a rare occurrence. I have not known a woman who loves her husband dearly and will leave him to far places for whatever reason. There is no love for you in her heart.

A beautiful young Nigerian doctor has recounted the horrific moment she woke up during her surgery.

According to her she had gone under the knife after feeling a sharp pain in her lower abdomen, but due to anesthetic failure, she woke up during surgery.

“it all happened like a flash… I was at the salon wt my friend Edikan when i noticed a sharp pain in my right lower abdomen. I just brushed it off… I mean we were preparing to jet out the next morning.. So we finished and went to see a movie, now by the time we finished i literally couldn’t walk anymore.. The doctor in us kicked in… And i paused and quickly examined myself and elicited the signs to diagnose acute appendicitis and they were all positive.. So we go do a scan and it was true… Went to see a surgeon to clear me to fly the next morning and he examines me and says “if u as much as go a lil feet in d air, the pressure will cause rupture.. U need a surgery tomorrow..

Now this was already 8pm on sunday. I called my Dad and explained and called my bestie and immediately she got ready to fly down to were i was the nxt morning. NOW TO THE SCARY PART; “MY AWARENESS UNDER ANESTHESIA” SO I AM TAKEN TO THE THEATRE, PREPPED FOR SURGERY AND INJECTED THE ANESTHETICS AND MUSCLE RELAXANT AND THEN MASKED AND BAGGED AND BRIEFLY I WAS OFF AND AFTER A WHILE I REALISED I WAS CONSCIOUS BUT BECAUSE OF THE MUSCLE RELAXANT I COULDNT MOVE.. SO I JUST ASSUMED THE SURGERY WAS OVER… THEN I FEEL THEM DRAPE ME AND THE NEXT THING I HEAR THE SURGEON SAY.. OKK SO WE ARE ABOUT TO START…. I AM LIKE WT!!!! WHAT DO U MEAN..
THE NEXT THING HE MAKES THE FIRST CUT THEY PULL.. AND I COULD FEEL EVERY SINGLE THING.. I TRIED TO MOVE SOMETHING BUT COULDNT… I TRIED… GOSH.. I STARTED PRAYING.. I WAS LIKE JESUS HELP ME! HELP ME! THIS PAIN IS TOO MUCH! PLS HELPPPPPP!! AND WHILE I TOT OKK ITS A LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY.. THERE WONT BE MORE CUTS… THE SURGEON SAYS OMG! SHE HAS MULTIPLE ADHESIONS.. WE HSVE TO DO AN OPEN SURGERY.. I AM LIKE NOOOOO… GOD NOOOOOO! AND THEN THEY START CUTTING AGAIN… LORD JESUS..HMMM.. WELL FINALLY IT ENDED AND IT WAS MY WORST NIGHTMARE…

I GOT OUT AND TEARS WELLED UP IN MY EYES. BECAUSE FOR OVER 3 AND A HALF HOURS OF SURGERY I WAS AWAKE! I STILL DREAM ABOUT IT… MY SURGEON AND ANESTHESIOLOGIST KEEP APOLOGISING…TRUTHFULLY I DONT BLAME THEM BCS THEY DDNT KNOW.. BUT IN ALL I AM GRATEFUL TO BE ALIVE AND WELL. THIS IS MY STORY. FamilyRe: I Deny My Husband Sex Because Of STD by drlateef: 1:22am On Nov 05, 2017

Please take time to read this, I really need your advice.

I am a working mother of four kids (2 sets of twins) been married since 2012; I and my husband communicate well, our sex life is great (we explore diff. styles) and I make sure everyone is contented and satisfied or so i thought.
How i found out he was cheating

I noticed I didn't see my period for two months which is weird, I checked if i was with child but it was negative, before then I noticed burning feeling when i pee and pains so i decided to see a doctor, that was how i received the greatest shock of my life. I was told i had STD, I was in shock, crying and shaking cos i know i got it from my husband, was told to do an HIV test.

After the longest wait of my life and vomiting due to anxiety and panic, it was negative. Three months later was still negative, I went home thinking of ways to kill my husband. Later that night i first asked him if he was cheating he blatantly denied but when i showed him the test result, he was dumbfounded and started begging, i asked him why with tears rolling down my eyes, he couldn't give any reason because he knows everything was great btw us, i told him we would never make love anymore that i can't risk my life because of sex, he was begging me saying he would change, i told him i can never trust him cos once a cheat, always a cheat.

My people, it's over a year and we've not had sex, he can't chase me away from the house because we both built it and the land is in my name, sometimes he comes home late but i really don't care since we have separate bedroom. He said he can't leave because he will have to tell his and my people but he doesn't want the embarrassment.

Apart from all these, every other aspect is great at home, so my question is this; is my decision too harsh or am i justified?
If you haven't caught him cheating again, then forgive him if you want the marriage to continue. Otherwise divorce him and move on. You too are vulnerable to adultery if you continue your sex strike for too long. Body no be firewood even for you.

hi I’m 28 years old
In that case growth plate explanation is not appropriate here because you have already stopped growing up at around 19 to 21 years latest. The correct explanation is that the fracture has been mismanaged and it has malunited. It is the radius bone that is usually involved in majority of cases. It appears it was not properly reduced in place or after reduction in Pop cast, it was unstable and displaced again, especially if the cast was loose. In my own environment many of such fractures are treated surgically within two weeks of fracture before malunion has started. As it is now, it depends on your pocket. If you have deep pockets, get an X-ray done and see an orthopaedic surgeon near you for advice. From my experience it is very difficult to deal with at this stage but it is possible with experience hand surgeon. Good luck.

I have done something before that worked. Use ear wick moistened with clean water and instill water into the ear while lying in bed and head turned sideways. Leave the water in the ear for some time to moisten the cotton wool inside, say 20 minutes. Then turn the head round and gently slap the ear on the pillow a few times, the wet cotton wool should fall out, unless something else is blocking your ear. Most times wax causes this problem. Good luck.

This is problem with hand injuries, very delicate to manage and gives deformity that impairs function if not properly managed. Nigeria needs specialised hand surgeons to treat these problems. Many of them cannot be corrected after many weeks of neglect or poor management. Some of these injuries require simple treatments like a splint or manipulation etc. Unfortunately the awareness is not very high in Nigeria.
HealthRe: See How My Wrist Looks Like 5 Months After Wrist Fracture, Is It Normal? by drlateef: 6:52pm On Nov 04, 2017
With due respect I think people should stop advising traditional bone setters, they have done monumental damage to people's limbs which I have seen many times. Many people lost their limbs as a result of blind management of fractures, lack of anatomy knowledge and lack of knowledge of biomechanics etc. Open fractures have turned infected and leading to death or limb loss. In this day and age we shouldn't be talking about traditional bone setters. We should embrace health insurance so that we can be able to afford hospital treatment. And we should not attend quack hospitals where they know next to nothing. Orthopaedic hospitals should be attended if they are close to you. Fractures can be simply treated most times, only few requiring surgery, and no hospital will cut off your limb just because you have fracture. That's the myth wrongly spread about by traditional bone setters which is not true.
HealthRe: See How My Wrist Looks Like 5 Months After Wrist Fracture, Is It Normal? by drlateef: 6:09pm On Nov 04, 2017
This fracture has probably united abnormally. If you went to hospital as you claimed, they have probably mismanaged your fracture. Though I have not seen the fresh injury X-ray and your present X-ray of the union, but I presume the fracture has fully united abnormally by now. It will be very difficult even in advance hospital to break it and reset it back to normal using plates and screws to fix. At least they can't do that in Nigeria. May be possible in India but most likely UK, US or Germany. But if it is giving you good function, you may only have to endure the grotesque appearance, if you don't have the means to go abroad. Best of luck.

I was in your shoe in the past. I hardly comment here but moved by your sincerity. If you can get an admission abroad and go on a student visa, that is the best for you, thinking as a human and not knowing what God has for you. Do not ever go abroad on a visitor visa, there is plenty of regrets if you get there. Its better to study abroad, by doing that you fulfil the wishes of your parents. You can possibly get a job after your school if you choose a course that is more in demand like nursing or medically related areas. In which case you get a work visa to continue staying abroad or if you are lucky you get a soulmate who has the papers to marry you and remain on work visa. Going abroad opens many doors to you. You can also continue your business while abroad. Opportunities are limitless when you travel out. Watch out for traffickers and make sure you process your admission and visa by yourself with some help from your friend. Do not ever use any agent or intermediary, they mostly work with traffickers. And be extremely prayerful, avoid telling people your next move or successes. This advice is from my own experience and other peoole's accounts. Good luck.

IslamRe: Congregetional Dua After Salat, Good Or Bad by drlateef: 3:34pm On Sep 09, 2016
We have examined all the issues raised by everyone here by our group here in my place, especially as it relates to Nasfat and other groups like that. After we examined many evidence, our conclusion was that it is acceptable to make dua in congregation if we follow certain rules:
1. The group dua in which every participates reciting dua together should not be done regularly. It can be done spontaneously and not regularly planned. Otherwise it will become another form of regular worship like salah. We based our understanding on the issue tarawih which the prophet started but then stopped because he was afraid Allah may make it far'd if it was continued like that. Although Umar bin Khatab continued after the prophet by calling it good bid'ah, but he would never have recommended it had the prophet not done it at all. Umar knew nothing can be made far'down after the prophet had died and Allah had completed Islam including mode of ibaadat. But because he saw the prophet doing it at all, he believed there must be some spiritual benefit in that.
2. The congregational dua should not be made in chorus if we have to do it regularly. Personal communication with Allah in dua is far better than in congregational dua. That's why the prophet encouraged naflah to be done at home individually than to be done in masjid, and not in congregation. The eid prayers have higher levels of worship that naflah. That's why they are held in congregation, they are almost compulsory prayers.
3. Congregational dua can be done if they are for the purpose of teaching Muslims how to make dua. This is just like having Quranic classes together. The purpose in most cases is for knowledge gardering.
I can teach my children dua by doing it with them everyday until they learn it. Then I will encourage them to do it separately because every human being has different requsets from Allah.
I personally feel that the danger of making dikr together on regular basis is that if we miss it, we may be called to account for missing it by Allah as we have made it compulsory on ourselves, just like we will account for missing regular salaat but we will not account for not making dua. If we decide to make dua regular in congregation like salaat, we might be called to account if we miss it. Walaahu aalam.

Nigeria is the only country where your bags are searched, your pants and bras are displayed to everyone just because they are looking for something to use in asking for a big tips. Why can't the government equip the airports with security gadgets to check bags like other civilised countries do? We are a very sick country. The money is there but corruption will never let us develop. The worst thing is that these poeple will carry their bible and preach in the church as pastors every sunday. Are we not hippocrits in Nigeria, the country that has the largest number of churches per street in the whole world?
Science/TechnologyRe: Help Me Build Solar Panel & Invecter by drlateef: 1:55pm On Mar 27, 2010
Hi,
To build a solar system you would want to decide whether it is a grid-tied or mains-tied system. Grid-tied system I believe will not be applicable for the present situation in Nigeria because everyone would want to generate electricity for use in their own homes, not to sell any supplus energy to the national grid. Therefore, for the mains-tied system you need solar panels of the wattage and voltage you required after conducting a research on the amount of electrical and electronic appliances you want to power at home. You also need a solar charger/controller that regulates the amount of energy going in to the batteries from the solar panels and the amount going out of batteries to the inverters en route the mains supply. You also need batteries that will store the energy coming from solar panels. The batteries are then connected to inverters that will change the voltage to a sine wave voltage which most appliances in Nigeria use. The batteries, inverters and charger/controller all have ratings in terms of voltage and wattage (Watts). The one you need depends on amount of total watts and voltage you need to run your appliances at home. You need to do some addition her and should be easier if you have the knowledge of physics and electricity.
These needed materials are obtainable on eBay website and you can compare and get the best price. I do not know if they will post these materials to Nigeria. You can also buy them in Nigeria but I cannot say anything about the quality of Nigerian products. You can also get some of the products as used which are as good as new and very cheap. These are the basics, and I hope that helps.
