Lovetinz: I read your post three times to make sure I get a clear idea of the sequence of events.Best answer si far, follow it. |
Leysco: I told a lady in my place of work that i was interested in her and she told me twice that she is engaged. So i accepted it and shifted my mind away from her. But she keeps drawing my attention and giving me inviting look. I have been trying to ignore all that. There is another lady who said she is engaged but always sending messages. Why do ladies do this? Its in ur mind |
dstiva99: I am Nigerian, raised in America and My BF was raised in Naija and has been in the US for the past 6 years. We have known each other for about 2 years, been together for about a year and we were both planning to go home for xmas (his first time back since he left). We have talked about marriage already and he has told me that he wants to get married but wants me to meet his family first. I agree that is important and was looking forward to meeting them during xmas. Yesterday he tells me that his father is not interested in meeting any "omo america" because two of his cousins were married to nigerians raised in the west and the women recently divorced them and took everything. My BF claims he has explained to his father that I am not "omo america" and although I was raised in the US, I am very "nigerian", come from a good two (nigerian) parent home and come home often. He says his father will not budge and that his father said "i am done talking with you about this over the phone, when you come home we will talk". He says he has been fighting with his family for the last six months and he is tired of fighting with his family about me. He sounded like he's ready to give up on us and I feel its very unfair because his parents have never even met me. They want him to move back (which he won't do) and then if he doesn't move back, to marry from nigeria so no woman will divorce him and take everything. Yesterday was the first time I am hearing of it and I am very upset. I asked him if he wants to break up, he said no that he will still try to talk to his parents in Dec. but that he cannot marry without their consent and participation and as of now, they want no parts of it. My cousins (who grew up in naija) feel he is lying and just trying to find reason to break up with me. I am so hurt and confused, as he is 30 years old and I expect at this age he would be able to stand up to his parents and fight for me if he really loves me like he claims. He says he is tired of fighting them, that there is only so much you can do by phone and the rest of the fight is left for naija. Now I'm not even sure when I go if I will meet them based on his father's current opposition which is bad because I feel if his parents met me they would know that I am no "omo america" Is he trying to set me up for a break up? What can I do if anything? He may not be lying, nigerian parents have a way with their kids. They would normally want their daughter's inlaws to kneel down while greeting as is custom and not talk back to their while they talk. There are many other things that they would want but these things one does not learn in the west. I know, I was in ur situation too. In my case I had to speak with them. It took a long fight, lots of name calling but I married who I wanted at the end. |
I knew they were weirdos in Nigeria but this officially confirms that there are also weirdos on NL |

berem: Maybe he is tired of Nigerian doctors who embark on incessant strikes thereby risking the lives of patients. No my sister, it the hypocrisy of our nigerian leaders. If u were a doctor, u would understand our pain. These people are so incompetent as leaders so they feel if the cough we should jump. They forget we are professionals and we deal with people's lives. |
simpleseyi: Seeing different beautiful women nakked including other people's wives is one of the fringe benefits of studying medicine in the university. If you are jealous of the doctors, go study medicine.Ma guy, its not a benefit. Its a Borden cos we don't derive joy seeing such. |
No matter how honest and ramrod straight u think a man is, once he has an unadulterated bias for certain groups of people or certain things then he is not fit to be president. Bihari is like that. He is a fanatical northerner who only has mostly northerners around him. That is not a good thing for governance and for Nigeria. A leader must show he is unbiased and ready to learn. Bihari is stubborn, not ready to listen to the public, things he knows everything and very inflexible. No mater what his portfolio is, he does not have the characteristics of a good leader. Even if he would imprison all these thieves who call themselves our politicians if he assumes power, i still wont vote. After all those thieves have been imprisoned, what next. The man buhari has no further clue. Best he remains an elder statesman and gives advice as well as write his memoirs than struggle for power in this next elections cos any party that field him will lose. |
Symphony007: It's so shamefull that most of this francophone african countries are just independent in name only. They can't sneeze without the permission from paris. Yet the world and indeed anglophone countries keep berating britain from colonialism, they have washed their hands off your country. But france is still actively practising colonialism and no one is saying anything. It's just stupid.Do u not know that most of these countries don't have a central bank.... |
Am sure he is not Nigerian.... |
Give me a BIIIIIG phucking break!! Is it not the same Lagos you people are trying to burn down and run it aground while putting up a treacherous facade? Is it not the same Lagos you and your people are praying that the Atlantic Ocean carries away? Were you dead when a report said Lagos ranks low on the livability of places in the world and your ibo people were happy about it and putting it down? We let you live in our lands, travel to your father's land through Ogun state and cross from Yorubaland into Iboland through Ore but you are not happy yet. You are the type of guest who eats with the host and poisons him when he relaxes around you so you can steal his property and inheritance. God is seeing you in 4D and we are watching you in 3D! Anytime Chief Awolowo, Abiola, Tinubu, Fashola, Aregbesola, etc are mentioned you abuse them, you curse them but they did not come to your government to steal from Azikiwe and Ibos and you think we will let you kill our people as you tried and trying to kill and ruin them. I know we are stuck in Nigeria together for now but we will never trust people who tried to kill our leaders and people and openly gloat whenever a new factory, industry or hotel chooses the SW over Iboland. Shoprite recently opened their store in Ibadan and are completing a second one around Ring Road, ibos abused Ibadan saying they don't have money to spend at Shoprite and the store chain will soon close down for lack of patronage. Meanwhile Oyo State has a bigger economy and higher IGR than the "pride of the east" Anambra. Yet you want us to trust you? Kokoro ti je efo ara efo lo wa! Well, I wish the ibos goodluck in their land because I have lived there and been to 4/5 of the state and never wanted it to be destroyed but I will not stand around here while you employ subterfuge against my people!
I wasn't going to reply but u sounded so much like a spoilt unruhly child seeking attention. The thing there is that, children like u turn to full blown bigots and hypocrites if not corrected. Madam, pls i beg to differ, i have never believed in a revenge for people who i believe wronged me. Just as u said igbos rejoiced at certain mishaps of lagos that is how certain yorubas also rejoiced at certain misshaps of some igbo states. The questions i have for you is this. When will the maddness stop? When will we start seeing our western brodas as not westerners but Nigerians and so also for our northern and south southern brodas. When will we wake up to a Nigeria diverse in language, culture and diversity but united in one mind (progress for the future)? When will we stopping thinking of what we can get from our country but instead start thinking of what we can do for the betterment of our country? I know this ethnic cancer has eaten Nigerians dry, I mean I do remember while in elementary school. A parent came to pick her child while we were playing in a puddle of water. We mistaken splashed water on her she became very angry and started raising curses on us. I remember one of my play mates tried to appologise in english but she didnt understand so he spoke to her in Igbo, if u see the evil eyes she gave him she then walked away saying under her breathe Omo Igbo!!...Funny enof that lady walked past us again with her child and I went to her and apologised in Yoruba and she was so happy, patting me on my shoulder saying Omo mi..... As an adult, these things are things I would want to protect my own child against. I know the world is cruel but children who grow seeing ethnic divide tend to be very tribalistic since they won't know any better. That will have to stop cos we as adults have to secure our children's future in a Nigeria not infested with idiotism, fanatism and biogtry thinkings. This is where I stand. I stand as someone who could either be a westerner cos its mostly all I've known or an easterner thru my parents, but why should I close one of the other when I can have both. This is where I stand!!!! I don't care what people before me have said about westerners or easterners. All I care about is unity, faith, peace and progress. That should be our motto, a motto all Nigerians regardless of ethnicity should have in his/her heart. God save u madam and make u let go of ur bitterness, its uncalled for. God save Nigeria. |
I was expecting this. Thank God but then i am just thinking how many top nuts in Lagos would travel via this means? |
If not for the defensive stand taken being taken taken by the likes of bloggernaija, by now somebody would have come hear to write "another OWAMBE project" as a comment. I hope you would be hear to give them the same response.
Be rest assured, I don't sing my song backwards. I believe enof is enof. If am online and come accros certain ethnic provocations like above I will give my piece of mind. |
jntyjnty007: Because we are women, that is why. It is a trait, that exists in many women and has done for thousands of years. It works so why change it. Charm is far more appealing than many other characteristics. Like bawling, shouting, threats to get what you want. For some us we are just natural charmers, goes a long way. Can open doors, get you jobs etc etc. Being charming can have the most positive affect on people. Can cool a hot-headed bull in a china shop if you know how.Hmm,....am thinking. U are kind of right but more and more women would prefer to use flirting to accomplish an aim rather than to ask nicely. |
Dibiachukwu: I don't care what anybody that is not of my nation thinks, it is them and their God! I have every right not to like anybody. It is impossible for us to build any functional society with our mortal enemy. Anybody that kills and rapes your kids and mothers, is your mortal enemy! These people are our enemies. They have proven it time and time again. I am not buying the rubbish anybody is spewing. It is me and my people in God. I have nothing in common with these people. My people that love these people, I remove from too. Until they repent! May God almighty be the judge!I take it u are Christian. Well don't go shoting any guns b4 u are sure that u are being shot at. |
bloggernaija: Yorubaland, outlier like most cosmopolitan people everywhere.Ur comments are a joke on educated minds. I wonder were u got the notion that most south easterners wish our south western brodas ill. Nigerians where are we all going with this bad, this is bad. I didn't know Nigerians hated it had this notion of themselves. Look, I was born in Lagos, grew up there, had Yoruba friends all my life. Speak and understand yoruba but also speak and understand my native dialect. What should matter is that development is taking place in Nigeria, regardless of where. I wish Oyo state success cos i know what ever comes out of there would benefit not just Oyo but the whole south south and nigeria as a whole. That is what is important. U guys should stop fighting over ethnic divide, it will not help us. Instead we will be doing our children harm. Enough is enough. Believe me, easterners know where they stand, both with southerners and northerners but all those are irrelevant without development. As for east progressing, don't uncross ur fingers yet. Igbo's never carry last (believe me, I know, I married one), I assure u and they did help develop Lagos no matter how our western Broda's try to deny it. God bless Nigeria, Igboland, Yorubaland Hausaland, ijawland and the rest of the country. |
TrickofTech: Awesome. Thank you for the honest reply. I am not hugely rich! But I can probably afford to give N 10,000 max. It is a special occasion...and I have made it clear to them that this is why I am giving it.Ma guy 50 dollars is cheap. If u want to give them something, then give them something. Don't come here and insult them, while insulting urself. |
wesley80: lol, could'nt help laughing at your description of the "Brave Coward". To think he was mocking the 'Crying General' - Diya - while soundind totally oblivious of his own shortcomings speaks volumes. I guess we are supposed to forget about the sidelined and hurriedly retired self - indulging Lt General and only remeber him as the brave man that helped Noretherners avenge the murder of their heroes! I guess that's what this interview was about, no wonder it was done in Hausa. It was done 4 their people, so u can imagine how much salt and pepper he must have added to it to make it appetising to them. It boils down to that fact that their still depose southerners and the part the easterners played but still that mentality is dangerous to the present unstable day Nigeria. I still say the story should but devoid of all sentiments. |
Dibiachukwu: Let them continue deceiving themselves. They know that they are incapable of they claim fajuiyi did. He plotted with them, as usual, and they didn't spare his behind either. Any Igbo that comes out again, and tell us to join hands with any Nigerian group. May God punish that person. All we need is strategic alliance, in things that are mutually beneficial. And it must be done with deep suspicion and total monitoring, at all times. The case of Banjo, should never ever repeat itself in our history. Ever!Typical of you south-easterners, you will never accept that you ever did anything wrong or that you started the regrettable ethnic bigotry that has eaten deep into our fabric in this country. In your dishonest or maybe myopic thoughts, Nigeria's problem started with the assassination of Ironsi and other Igbos and not from the Igbo coup of January 1966. It is that same denial that led you guys into following an oxford-trained spoilt brat into a senseless war that you were never prepared for. It is the same reason that in your opinions "the Igbos have no friends" in present day Nigeria, not even those who tolerate you and gave you opportunities could pass as friends. What you see or read here on Nairaland is that Yorubas hate Igbos and are in fact the cause of all Igbo problems. But here is somebody telling us that they did what Yorubas will never conceive against Igbos, yet they seem more friendly to you guys that Yorubas. Igbos will fare better in Nigeria when they learn to face the reality of their failings and identify who their real friends are.
My broda, why don't u tune ur irritation down. Its uncalled for. After reading ur post, I came close to insulting u but realised quickly that's it will be the same thing u just did to our friend u quoted above so held back my bad retorts. We both know NL is full of bigots, idots and illiterates who only think in one direction but do u blame them? Nigerians have not known anyother thing for the past 30 years. They've only known bigotry, religious divide and fanatism but then Nigerians are better than that. We really as a people have to see beyond all those hogwash, it can only stop if and when we work/change our mentality. Only a true unpolluted mind, free of these maladies can push our forward. We should forget ethnic divide and think about progress as a united people, regardless of ethnicity. This ethnic cancer will never stop growing unless we unroot it. Knowing all these, I wonder why u still allowed a bigotry statement like provoke u. |
talktimi: Why are people acting all surprised about this interview ? The facts about events leading up to the 1966 coup and the civil war have been documented in several books on both sides of the divide & Useni isnt saying anything far from what ive read previously. We as a nation only need to learn how to get our acts right if we really want to stay together as one peacefully even if we have to convene an SNC. Ps the Diya coup really took place, i dont know why some people are living in denial. Dude is lucky to be alive. Ok deor03: It's always good for our history to be told, no matter how distasteful.I agree, its also more sad when people out of fear of retribution ask the people who were there not to talk. I mean, this is our legacy and those of our children. It has to told, not just in words but also in books without blowing details out of proportion like OBJ did in his book. Our elders have to let history be the judge cos we won't judge them. My interest and I hope I speak for some of us too is the knowledge, just so mistakes of the past does not repeat itself or rear its ugly head. That said, I would like to read shoyinkas memoir and his narration of that time. |
bishungclem: Why let us know now.why not let sleeping dogs lie.Sorry we can't let sleeping dogs lie. This story no matter how distasteful has to be told. |
Because most men have fallen4 such acts.Only a self controlled&God fearing man can avoid such temptations.Kudos,to responsible men out there.
True talk ma broda, I asked a female friend of mine similar question and she asked me back if I'm not sure the ladies in question were just not trying to be nice. I told her, i 'm not a child. I do know the difference between flirting and being nice but she said something funny. She said "fine u may know the difference but how many men would prefer a lady being nice to one flirting". |
OK, if una sure say no be human being!!!! |
OP thanx 4 the time u took to compile this. We need to know these things, not just as Nigerians who have the interest of everyone in mind but also as Nigerians hoping to leave something worthwhile 4 our children. We also need to know so that these politicians that still have cases to answer may not come back to deceive people. Its only in Nigeria that someone can be in court for fraud and still contest for senate. Why is there no law excluding convicts and people who still have pending cases in court from contesting. |
