This is normal with Vmobile wap cos they pegged the download size to 200kb in order to minimize traffic from heavy users like you, There's a way to bypass it by changing proxy Ip address while usl.ng 3rd party browsers such as opera & netfront from 172.18.254.5 to any free ip address online. Maybe you should try that tunnel thingy some guy posted on this forum sometime ago.

Most networks have both wap & full internet APN which both operate on the gprs platform. Most times, the full internet option is offered to contract or post-paid subscribers while the wap only settings is offered for pre-paid, but you see, Vmobile's case is pretty unique, they have the full internet option which was meant for post-paid subs but was accidentally activated on some pre-paid lines, therefore, some guys like me have both the full internet & wap APN which i alternate regularly.

Actually, there's a way to activate the internet settings by yourself, but Vmobile has blocked it already therefore it makes no difference telling you the procedure now, The settings sent to you via phone maufacturers web config page doesn't activate the internet at all, it only sends the settings to your phone with the belief that your operator has provisioned your line.

Vmobile has both the internet and wap setup,  If you have the internet settings, you just connect your laptop to the phone via BT or IR and browse full internet. But if you have the wap settings, you can connect to your laptop and then input the proxy settings into your web browser (IE7, Opera, firefox e.g.) enter ip add 172.18.254.5 and proxy 8080 to browse web on your computer after connecting,

I'll advise you go for Vmobile since they currently running their free gprs promo, validity and access is good too. Another network you could use is MTN but the settings for free gprs is not available for everyone.

As per the phone, The cheapest walkman with earphone, voice recording and USB mass storage support should be Sonyericsson k750i (with 64mb memory stick), but it's limited with only java support of which you could download operamini for fast web browsing.

All you guys using the Mtel gprs should know the way to activate the lines. there's got to be a settings sequence such as "activate" or "settings" sent to a dedicated number, What's the way forward?

My argument is still valid because Nokia want to sell their .sis gamecards too. if not, there's absolutely no reason not to include midp2.0 capability. N-gage can run .sis which is more tasking than java 2.0 games. it's a marketing strategy ok,

An average wap page is about 10kb, while web is about 150kb, depends on the size of pics on the page, now i think it will be stupid of me spending about =N=7/wap page or =N=100/web page,

Edge is a lot faster than gprs when compared. it doesn't make sense to charge 70k/kb on edge connection which is a lot faster & would drive you to download more, i'm expecting a price reduction from glo very soon.

The 100kb limit is from Nokia, it was done to make you buy the .sis symbian card games which is what the N-gage was positioned to sell, sorry,

it works but very slow when compared to MTN which is now very very fast,

Well, there's a way out, i just stumbled across a new APN that works & i'm not sharing cos you guys will probably go about spreading the info around without keeping your mouth shut till MTN blocks it again. i'm not prepared to take the risk this time, sorry.
