you need to find out if your cooling fan is still functional. Hard disk noise on laptops is normal. if the fan is working, you might need to service the laptop by trying to get accumulated dust out of it, that could be responsible for the overheating because dust prevents the heat sink from working efficiently |

Are you sure your phone is not network branded? |
Download operamini from mini.opera.com and it will reduce your charges by more than 50% |
go to gloworld or call CC. (that's the only way) |
Even if you load 1 million naira, still doesn't guarantee you free GPRS. You need to know someone working in Mtel to provision your SIM to browse. |
cabali:Says who? MTN and glo offer unlimited GPRS for =N=12,000 per month. If you calculate the celtel rate at 10k per kb, you would have exhaust =N=12,000 by downloading only 120MB which is less than half of what I download daily. To download only one Mp3 song might even cost you nothing less than =N=500. |
I have input the settings and it obviously aint gonna work without activating your SIM card. If you wanna help us, tell me the real fact. There got to be someone (an insider) that helped you provision your line by activating your SIM card before the settings can then work. |
These boys browsing with Mtel are not telling us the koko How did you guys activate your line? |
Of what use will this be when most of your friends don't have 3G phones |
@cushman, how did you get yours to work? let me in on this one abeg. |
By the way, where's your location? And thanks for reminding them. ![]() |
wormedup: ![]() Free GPRS is now officially over. |
I believe its Glo, most stable and robust |
That's the current lowest price in Computer village Ikeja, Lagos. |
Go to computer village and I'm sure you'll get a k700 for 11k there. Just be careful and make sure you test the phone ver well before you drop cash. |
I bought them when they were still much available in the market as i heard there was free gprs. I've never been able to browse on any of them cos i dont know the procedure for activating the lines for gprs. Someone should tell me the way forward, i need to activate these lines. |
For your information, free gprs is definitely not responsible for the not responding problem of celtel. Most people i call dont even use or know what gprs is. Some even use nokia 3310 that doesn't have gprs capabilities. Besides, this not responding wahala was occuring back in the days when gprs wasn't even available on former econet & vmobile. Obviously, there's something else responsible for this because other networks dont have this problem. |
U could get a sonyericsson k500, k300 second hand for that price. Both phones don't have radio or bluetooth but has Mp3, mp4, camera and infrared with about 12mb memory. You could also get sendo x second hand for that price too with addition of bluetooth, symbian and memory card. I once saw a sonyericsson k700i for 11k too. This one has all the features you want including radio. |
I have two Mtel SIMs and there's no GPRS logo on both of them. That means I'm not activated yet. How do I activate it? |
18k |
If they make a stupid mistake and dare charge me a kobo, I'll just burn their SIM card immediately cos these celtel clowns don't offer me any reason to be on their network apart from the free GPRS. Once they yank GPRS off, I'm gone for good. I wonder why I call celtel numbers and it keeps saying "not responding" when I know the guys phone is on and working? Fake network!! |
Cushman, how did you do it? Pls give us the info on how you managed to activate your line. |
It's you guys that I wonder about because I actually don't rely on free GPRS. I have glo, MTN and Multilinks that I use for browsing regularly. I'm also about to subscribe to MTN extravalue (postpaid) that offers you unlimited GPRS at =N=12,000 per month. I just wonder how regular some guys that completely depend on celtel GPRS will be on this forum once they start charging today. |
Celtel has been a disappointment since they bought Vmobile because they seem not to understand business strategy. I loved them when they used to be Vmobile, but since they were bought over by those celtel clowns, things have gotten so bad with them loosing customers that Vmobile struggled to maintain. Besides, free gprs is ending soon. so long to the celtel diehards, i wonder what you guys will do without free gprs now. |
Well, i guess that's the end of celtel for me. Once i can confirm that charging has commenced, i'll take off their SIM and flush it down the loo. Very useless and terrible network since Vmobile sold out |
The free gprs is ending today so dont bother yourself. Go and pay for browsing like everyone else does. Awoof dey run bele |
Omole, Lagos. |
I do download close to 200mb daily because i'm currently trying to update my music library via limewire. I download a minimum of 20 mp3's daily on both my pc and laptop simultaneously with 2 celtel lines. Whenever there's a downturn in speed with internet settings, i use the wap settings with the aid of proxy settings. |

Slycks:Nowadays, the procedure for activating wap via 184 doesn't work anymore cos it's been disabled by Celtel. It's just some randomly selected numbers that are still capable of browsing at the moment, even some of my pals that could browse before ended up being deactivated and had to flush their celtel SIM out of annoyance. Because of free browsing, i've ended up buying one additional phone because I'm tired of swapping SIM cards from MTN (My default line) to Celtel (Lying in my drawer) whenever I want to browse. I really pity Celtel because I don't ever and will never load any credit on their line due to their high tariff, but I dey download 200MB of data daily free of charge ![]() |
