Slycks:I have 3 fully working wap/internet enabled celtel lines for sale so make an offer let me sell one to you. It's better you enjoy the free browsing while it lasts cos by the time they (celtel) finish upgrading, they'll definitely start charging. |
The phone manufacturer that uses linux the most is Motorola. You can check out some of their phones like rokr E2, rokr E6, A1200, A728 & E680. Those are all linux based. |
@CEO of Celtel, when is your network going to give us more affordable prices and family & friends services like MTN & glo?? |
If u know the guy's number, call him and tell him u wanna buy his SIM for 50k. Just yarn him up and tell him u wanna see him face to face. Travel to Kano or wherever and buy it off him. |
I'm very sure MTN will soon follow suit. |
As at Aug 2006, glo had tested their 3g services in Abuja and Lagos. If you want to see a live demonstration, go to gloworld and check it out yourself. Besides, glo's implementation is both EDGE/3G capable (best of both worlds, and a step further than Celtel) http://www.mobileafrica.net/n1658.htm http://www.actix.com/rss/default.asp?ItemID=17566418 |
hayprof:Well, I still have my brother's spare celtel line which I use for free GPRS without loading credit. Once they start charging, I'll fling it out through the window cos it becomes useless to me. I can make a call on glo for 33kobo with a discount, and as low as 21kobo on MTN friends and family(extraconnect) so what the hell am I doing on celtel where I have to call for 80kobo? As far as I'm concerned, the market price of making a call has reduced but celtel refused to reduce their rates. Well, if you have money to throw away, you can throw away by using celtel for all I care, afterall it's your money. |
I would give it to glo cos they are the ones making us enjoy all the goodies we are enjoying today. Without glo, would there have been anything like per second billing? The answer here is NO because if you can all remember, MTN and Econet thought it was impossible. Without glo, would there have been anything like SIM cards for 100 naira? NO. Not until glo did the free SIM promo b4 all the others started thinking about dropping SIM prices. If not for glo, many people even on Nairaland today wont even be able to purchase a SIM. Without glo, would there have been anything like GPRS? No because other networks didn't think it was necessary to offer the service until glo did it. Without glo, would there have been anything like competition? No because glo came in and hell was let loose in the industry. We the customers started becoming king. Glo did so many things like first to offer free SMS, first to offer SMS at a reduced price, first to offer free GPRS, first to offer reduced SIM prices, first to offer the lowest recharge card denomination, first to offer lowest on-net call tariff of 70 kobo per second, first with superior VAS, the list goes on. |
I wish to state that its high time people started giving me some credit for my efforts so far. I'm not saying that I'm better than Eto, but I've done so well this year and at least deserve some credit. Thanks to all my fans and supporters. Sincerely, Didier http://www.didierdrogba.com/en/index.asp |
This same thing happened to celtel in Sierra Leone when a new operator came in and crashed prices (I can't remember their name but I think the operator's name is Comium). Celtel kept quiet and didn't do anything till the new boy on the block almost finished dealing with them by grabbing most of their customers. Celtel positions itself as a premium service provider but don't realize that this kind of strategy only works where people are ready to pay for it unlike in Nigeria. How can you come with a stupid promo that expects you to recharge up to =N=500 per week and waste the money on calls at 80k per seconds? That's bloody stupid thinking |
I completely agree with @Toksdara's theory about the midnight calls and believe the problem with glo has to do with the issue of conjestion. Its so hard to believe that glo was able to catch up with MTN within a space of less than 3 years. I even believe that the recent price slash started by MTN was because of its threatened leadership position by glo. |
Look for Nero software and convert it with ease |
Can you guys imagine that it is actually cheaper to call a Celtel line from other networks? If that's the case, then why use Celtel? From my judgment, it's more cost effective to own both Glo and MTN lines, rather than a Celtel. All you guys clamoring for Celtel probably work there and don't even know what's happening under your noses. I believe Celtel must have acquired some debts with the purchase of Vmobile and are trying to hold off for as long as possible on the extra-high tariff to break even with the liabilities. I'm not prepared to pay for some stupid managers liabilities, so I'll rather be on MTN or Glo. |
What sort of comedian or clown are u sef |
Nitel/Mtel has finally been delivered to Transcorp yesterday and I believe we will be seeing a new and revamped network very soon. Transcorp is going to try to compete with new offerings and price crashes that will further erode Celtels market share the way I'm seeing it. All other networks are also testing 3G so Celtel is not any different from them. Ibet you that the moment Celtel launches 3g, others will follow suit within 1 week. |
The way the GSM industry is, you really dont have any advantage in being innovative because all others will copy you and hijack the glory from you. just like glo came out first with per second billing and gprs. Now all others including Mtel has this. The only option Celtel has is to join the others and crash their prices, but they are still thinking about what to do while subscribers are migrating. |
I really don't care or make use of the free midnight calls. What made me move to MTN and glo was because of the reduced peak/off-peak tariff, lower SMS rate, family and friends discount, array of different payment options, wider national coverage, better adverts & promos. Celtel is just too dull for my liking. They need to up their image and come up with a better offer or die like Mtel. It's high time they realize the direction that the GSM industry is flowing to. At the moment, Celtel is the most expensive network to be on at a time when people are starting to get used to calling for free. The longer they waste time to react, they loose customers and business gets worse. I just hope they don't pack-up due to competition. |
K800 is far more advanced than the k750/w800 in both hardware and software. The k750 and w800 both have the same hardware specs but were installed with different firmwares that made the w800 to be positioned as a music phone with a more advanced media player and flight mode. You cant flash a k750 to k800 but can do a k750 to w800. |
glo is definitely the best because they have the cheapest tariff amongst the 4 networks. |
visit www.esato.com and get the procedure there. It's possible for you to flash ur k750 to w800 cos I've done it b4. Good luck bro |
By the time Celtel wakes up from their slumber, its only people that use GPRS that will still be holding on to their SIM cards. Even the GPRS users don't load credit. |
I listen to both stations and believe they are both very good. Making a choice would require a great deal of objective comparison in all areas of entertainment they offer, such as music, talks, news, sports etc. As for me, rhythm is better because of silverbirds and the singular fact that without Dan Foster whom actually makes too much noise, Cool Fm would be shite |
Invite her and give her the thing or better yet, send me her Id if you don't want her cos it seems you are complaining. |
Celtel is a lot different from Vmobile that had a customer service culture and listened to the populace. I particularly liked their slogan "It's all about you", which projected their dedication to the service culture. I believe the strategy that Celtel is trying to adopt is quite different from Vmobile's. They came in by trying to make life better for us but did the opposite. If you all can remember, there was some package that was known as Vstep on Vmobile which used to be very attractive and good for medium callers which Celtel yanked off immediately they came in. They increased their on-net/off-net tariff to a flat fee of 0.77kobo/sec, that was what really put me off Celtel completely. I've since switched to MTN and flushed my Celtel SIM because they don't have any innovation or things to offer. Their adverts and commercials are East African, so fake, boring with weird colors. Celtel has been operating in East African countries where competition doesn't exist like in the Nigerian market and they are trying to import the same strategy, it just won't work and I'm sure their bottom line will start taking a hit just like Mtel. Once you are not reactive and start loosing loyal customers, its always difficult to get them back. I wish celtel all the best as they struggle in the Nigerian market. |
jimmiebone:I've been waiting for their reduced tariff for over a month now, and i feel cheated using my celtel line to make calls when i can pay half the price on MTN and glo. I dont have a choice but to let go of my celtel line now. I've since moved to MTN where i can enjoy free calls and reduced tariff. Celtel is now the most unserious network with the most ridiculous advertisement. |
Free GPRS and 3G services. We also need contract services where phones are provided at subsidized prices like in UK, |
I migated yesterday and its cool. really free from 12 to 5am, I'm waiting for free wap still. |

or better yet, send me her Id if you don't want her cos it seems you are complaining.
