Based on what u wrote, the English were the first to reach America and they created the New England region. The Dutch followed suit and formed places like Wisconsin, New York and more. While the French formed the areas of Illinois, Michigan, New Orleans. These Europeans developed these regions after decimating the native inhabitants called the Red Indians who were very primitive. And this is why they bear the name United States because they were formed by different nations. So together they decided to resist paying taxes to their brothers in England and hence the American Revolutionary War which birthed the US of America. In fact the Americans declared themselves independent by forming their constitution and defeating their British brothers through the surrender of General Cromwell of Britain to General George Washington of America who happened to become America’s first elected president. No one granted the US their independence because the US was just like a branch of Europe or Britain. Major reason the US is not part of the commonwealth of nations.

Well said. But point of note, the US was not colonized by Britain. The Americans u see today are the descendants of old British who occupied the Americas.

A Nigerian lady has offered to donate her kidney to senator Ike Ekweremadu's daughter, Sonia who on Monday September 12, begged members of the public to donate a kidney to her, after she was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease.

In a post she shared on Facebook, the lady identified as Annastasia Michael said she's offering to donate her kidney to Sonia to prove that “women can help women”.

She also revealed that she is 24-years-old, doesn't take alcohol and also believes her kidney is very healthy to donate.

Abdulsamad Abubakar, a 28-year-old Nigerian studying at the Cyprus Science University (CSU), who was reported missing, is in police custody, Cyprus authorities confirmed.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) had on Friday declared the student missing after advising Nigerians against seeking educational succor in Northern Cyprus.

However, reports say the student was arrested by authorities in Cyprus for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

According to CyprusNews247, Samad was detained for beating his fiancée around a month ago and was subsequently arrested.

Samad and his girlfriend allegedly quarreled and bickered often at their home, which lead the cops to frequently visit them, according to neighbor reports.

The neighbor claimed that he had a dispute with an officer the day he contacted his mother. It is illegal to object to an officer’s arrest.

His landlord said he’s fine and nothing is wrong with him, but added that he’ll be deported back to Nigeria after his detention.

A data entry staff of the University of Benin identified as Carter Oshodin, has reportedly ended his life.

A source who is familiar with the incident said the deceased was battling with hardship occasioned by the unresolved six months old strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

According to a source with knowledge of the incident, Carter Oshodin killed himself after an eyewitness who requested anonymity observed him pleading with nearby residents for cash assistance on Thursday, September 8.

The source claims that the now-deceased Oshodin hanged himself later that evening because he was so depressed about the FG’s “no work, no pay” stance in opposition to the ASUU Strike.

However, while acknowledging the occurrence, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, the University of Benin’s public relations officer, offered little more than a refusal to comment on the matter.

The leadership of ASUU and the Federal Government are locked in a dispute over pay discrepancies in the government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll System IPPS and the welfare of university employees, with no end in sight.
