peeps4u: You're arguing different things entirely. I hope you're not going to use Dangote fuel for your vehicle when it starts refining because it is not from USA so it doesn't conform with USA standard of refining fuel.
So a company like total or conoil will not test their oil made in Nigeria? There are industrial processes and templates in making these oils which individual producing company will follow, then it goes through testing, certifications and the likes. Does it have to be from USA only before these are achieved? Calm down and let break it down for you... The Fuel imported into Nigeria is mostly adulterated .... Whether this occurred before the fuel was imported or after I really don't know ......Now with Dangote fuel it is yet to be known the outcome.. So many variable comes to mind like pricing and availability etc ....We can go and on nonstop ....but time will tell if it is advantageous for the masses or not ....... The Adulterated fuel does alot of damage to cars from fuel pump to fuel injector ... The high end cars will suffer greatly for this .. The cost of fuel pump for BMW Benz mostly luxury cars will cost you an arm and a leg . now this why people use fuel additives for their cars. But funny enough some cars manual will tell you not to use fuel additive....... You spoke about Total and Conoil testing their oil etc .. Whatever they produce for the Nigerian market is not the same for their home country.. Whether you like it or Nigeria is a dumping ground.. These foreign companies will get away with as much as the Nigeria government allows them to do.. These companies get away with murder....... Now do you notice that the most popular oil weight produce or imported by these oil companies are 20w50, SAE40 very few 5w30, 5w20. 0w20, the market is not well regulated.......This is why imported oil is a big market.. When it comes why USA oil standard is the best .. This is because there is a regulated body that enforces what the government there is a standard..... Now I was told that European have a better standard than the Americans.. Whether this is true or not I don't know ........ When a car manufacture builds an engine .. The type of oil to be used is taken into account.. Each manufacture have their own oil specification for their engine.. This is why people complain about Germany cars etc These cars are very complex ....... For example .. A client wanted to know what type of oil his car uses .. I can't remember the type of car . I think it was a Porsche 2018 or something... So I looked it up at Mobil 1 website .. Their oil does not meet Porsche oil specification ...... So these oil of a thing is more than just sprinkling additives up and down. And these why the USA makes the best oil and Nigeria oil are not up to par to international oil

Pearl1910: Honestly, if I see where to buy imported fuel, I will buy. The grade refined for naija is probably the poorest grade. If u want to know, check tokunbo fuel pump container and filter (probably used for 10yrs abroad), it is cleaner than brand new that was bought and used in Nigeria for 6months. 100% on point.........but na high end cars go suffer am the most.... Fuel pump for those cars cost am arm and a leg |

Crvrider: So much for your synthetic gospel:
... Well, for that we have to go to a company like Infineum that produces the additive packages such as PARANOX 5043 and PARANOX 5510 for synthetic lubricants.
The active ingredients are 1.94% to 4.07% by Mass (weight) the balance is Petroleum Oil. (Petroleum oil being your conventional fractional distilled oil)
That is about 98% or 96% of the "Additive Package" in ready to blend form is Petroleum Oil!!!
They (Infineum) recommend treat rate for FULLY FORMULATED lubricant (Motor Oil) of 10 to 20% of the finished product. My brother I am in my backyard now ... I want to start to produce my own oil ..........make I just buy additives to sprinkle on the oil ..........

Crvrider: Study the diagram and let's first agree on one thing first. Which is how you get lubricating oil: through fractional distillation. Let's disregard where the oil is cooked. Like you said na simple process.. Just add additives and you get your 5w30 and 0w20 etc ..Just a mixture of adding additives etc ...ok o You said ..."Palm wine when you cook for Nigerian bush and the one wey you cook for oyinbo land go still give you sapele water." Maybe I should start making these oyel in my backyard ..... Make I go look for additives na to sprinkle am to make 5w30 0w20 and 20w50 ...... Hold my beer .... I dey come ....... Mobil 1 should just close down their lab .....These guys are wasting their money na to dey sprinkle all types of additives remain now ........... |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by dru23(m): 8:08am On May 30, 2021 |
Crvrider: The process is called fractional distillation. Crude heated at a certain degree gives different byproducts and at some point, lubricating oil. Whether you heat the oil in Nigeria or the U.S of A at about 300°c you get lubricating oil. Simple! Now what makes the difference is the additives. Get good additives and mix at the right ratio and I believe all will be fine.
Palm wine when you cook for Nigerian bush and the one wey you cook for oyinbo land go still give you sapele water. That simple abi.. That simple that it takes 1 man Dangote to build a refinery for the whole country...lol.. A country that is not capable of refinery its own oil .. Even the petrol that are been sold is not to par they way it should ..... So just additives and that is it ...no testing of the product or quality country etc ..just add additives like you are cooking garri and vegetable stew .. A little sprinkle here and there .... That simple .. You made it sound so simple am sure that is how Toyota were able to build their cars .. They just buy parts here and there. Built the engine inside whether the engine has gone through test or not . it no matter.. A little sprinkle here and there ... Wow it is well .......... Let me be going ... It is too early for violence on nairaland .. I will wait till 3pm to start.... I will give you guys are the smoke.... When you have cattle herder as a leader.....what is there left to say ..... Just add additives abi like drinking gari You just remind of my mechanic ... He said what is big deal there with Lamborghini .. That he can fix those types of cars etc .......fear catch me that day ... Common car he can barely fix .... It is well .. Let me be going o |

ameristu: Importing oil is like saying you want to import petrol for you car because you don't want to buy petrol in Nigeria. Engine oil is also a by-product of crude oil. With more hope, Dangote like other players in the market like total and oando would produce engine oil in his refinery and people would have more options to pick from. There is more to it than just refining crude oil and making it into engine oil.... Millions of dollars are invested in doing research and test lab ..... It takes special technical skill to do this ...... |

zanshi: Hello guys i am thinking of selling Mobil synthentic oil as a side hustle at competitve price than what you get in Lagos, is it really in Demand? This business is capital intensive... It is a niche business and not everyone can afford importer engine oil .....old habits die hard .alot of Nigerians are still using the substandard oil and many are not still enlighten about using good oil ......... Your target market should be for everyone.. But focus on new Tokunbo car owners.. Or car owners that spend millions of naira buying their dream etc .....You want to give those car owners an upper hand in maintaining their cars........... You will get only a hand full of nairaland customers that can afford... But it is free advertising for you and hopefully out of the few that buys from will tell their friends.... This is how you will built your customer base. My customers are built via word of mouth ... It is a niche business....... The sky is the limit and I wish you best of luck |

grafixdon: Last year, I had an accident with my Toyota matrix, my cousin gets to know about it and promised to gift me Nissan Altima 09, initially, based on evil things have read about Nissan on nairaland I objected to it and requested for Toyota. He assured me that Nissan is more luxurious, balanced and drives well than Toyota, reluctantly I asked him to send it.
Just a week ago, I received the car, the only thing I did was changing the engine oil... The tyres are new, no check engine light, the engine is so quite. Honestly, I've been driving the car ever since, I love everything about it. Very smooth, balanced and the AC is topnotch.... I still own Sienna 2008 but the nissan drives better than the sienna. My sienna vibrates when the speedometer gets to 140kph but this car still balance at speed of 160kph.
This is my testimony. Lol Nissan are actually not bad .. A friend of mine brought in a 2008 model 3 years ago.. He loved the car, the car balance on high speed .very clean ..... From what I was told Nissan Altima will not take any form of abuse o.. Maintain it and use the recommended fluid at all times....... My very first brand new car tear rubber was a Nissan Altima ser .... It was a new edition and came out 2005 ..fully loaded ..... The SER was made in 2005 and 2006 ....very fast and it had a Boose system ......i enjoyed the car .. |

DMechyy: Right weight
Notable brand
Enjoy your oil. At least you are full proof from buying just can.
Expensive does not always translate to best.
Mobil 1 does a lot of advertising. Guess who pays?..
Peugeot will say use total, mobil in partnership with American spec brands will say use mobil 1, KIA will say Shell Helix. Expect Innosson to start stamping on their vehicles Seahorse 5w30. It is all about interest and advertisement. Mobil 1 gained prominence after they cut deals with brands to start stamping on the hood Mobil1 recommended, and it worked like charm.
In the long run, specification is what matters, not even the brand or place of manufacture. Onces it meets spec, you are good You can market and spend billions on a product.. If the product is bad it is bad.... It is the end user that will determine if your product is good .. You can market it all day u want....... Marketing gets your product out their to the masses .. It will be counterproductive to market something bad .. Your product has to be good to start with......... The USA market is a very competitive market.. You have to bring your A game to the table. And you stated that Mobil 1 pays car manufacture to use their logo on their cars etc .. Which is true ...but if Mobil 1 oil is destroying the car engine would the car manufacture continue to use their logo?
And also some engine oil are designed to meet the car manufacturers specification ... That is why u see sometimes after few years or so Mobil 1 or other brand are no longer in partnership with the car company .. Their specification no longer meets their car requirement anymore or the partnership no longer makes sense .. |

Pearl1910: That's d caveat - ones it meets specification. Because place of manufacture matters. A certain Hungary for Nokia, South Africa for Toyota Corolla, China and Nigeria for almost everything Since place of manufacture does not matter ..maybe Innosson should start exporting their made in Nigeria cars abroad.... |

Pearl1910: Does it have the API certification seal? If no, then na label u dey buy. If yes, thread with caution... When its too good to be true, its probably not true. 15k for full synthetic oil in Nigeria of today is too good to be true, when the likes of coastal, hardex, stallion n co are hitting 13k already. Don't forget oando is a Nigerian coy...anything is possible The Oando might not even be 5w30 that is written on it.. So anything can be written on it .......There is no proper regulatory agency to verify claims that are been made by the local oil manufacturer ......... |
