Bro you need pipe down for the almighty know it all Dru. I remember telling people about Polytron and he was here saying na lie addictive are bad for engine. What is more damaging than using oils that addictive are added in different shades for different brands to a car engine.

What I discover about people like him is just exposure is a curse for people of little mind but big view.

A good business man will never shift is base and come with trial and error of Mobile today, Penzoil tomorrow next is Castrol now supertech. The cruise dey sweet me now.
Well what do I know an alleged mechanic and knapsack carrying and smelling Kazeem.

I still come in peace.
You need to objective with your views and think outside the box .........when you are selling a product you need to give people variety of these to choose from... You have the same mentality of most Nigerians that focus on 1 thing only.. You are typical Nigeria that only drives Toyota cars only .. They are other cars out that can do the same job as a Toyota.....

So when it comes to all these product I do my research and read reviews.. Mobil 1 was getting too expensive .. So I look for other alternatives that can be equally as good ..... So I went from Pennzoil to Super tech ... So am giving the consumers options to buy from ......

And most are happy with my choice of oil .... I have customers that only use Pennzoil . they tried it and like it... I sold out of Pennzoil when it first came out..

It does not mean I will stop bringing in Mobil 1.....Am giving people more options to choose from ...

It still boils down to the brand jare.

How can we even trust that what these brands say is inside the keg is what is actually inside.

What's stopping them from putting 20w50 and slamming 5w20 on the body.

People have used the correct oil weight from some of these brands and have had engine issues.

Na to stick with reliable brands with track record and good reviews

*****************************************************
Didn't hear from you again on the cost of the oil
I agree with you 100% brand and weight matters.. For example I was using Mobil 1 EP for my 2011 Infinity g25x ... Because I wanted to market Pennzoil . I decided to try Pennzoil .. And for strange reason my car sounded better and smoother with Pennzoil than Mobil 1 EP ...... So I will stick to Pennzoil ......

Another reason brand matters .... Check out Project Farm on Youtube ... He did oil analysis on different brands of oil ..... You can tell which brands works better on certain degree heat and how they fare on wear and tear ... Very interesting tests was done .....

People should check it out very informative..keep in mind this guy does not sell oil or market any product.

He has over 1million subscribers on his channel......that should tell you something.....

That was how I bought one Mobil 1 full synthetic work the 15k km from filter hoping to run the oil for 7k miles.

At around 6k miles, I stepped into the vehicle one Sunday morning ready to start the day's hustle. Next thing I saw was the oil light. I knew what that meant and just turned off the vehicle. The following day, I drove straight to the mech and when he opened that engine cover(no idea what its called), omo see sludge.

I was livid and called the seller. What he said did not surprise me. He said said the mechanic must have used another oil. Bros, I'm not an idiot. How can I buy that kind of expensive oil and not stay with the mechanic. I was with the mechanic all through and except he's Boris Wild there's no way he's using another oil and I won't see him.

That singular incidence I'm sure must have caused some damage to the engine. This is because a perfectly working engine now burns oil. I guess I have to thank God it wasn't a total damage else na to dey find 250k for another engine.
This why I tell people to buy their oil from a reliable source... Fake Mobil 1 full market now more than ever. And we tell people to make sure you are present when they are doing oil change.... I have been a victim of this before ........

When you are using full synthetic oil regardless how long you use it ...sludge is not supposed to occurred at all.. The worse case is that the oil will get very dark like .

All my uber cars that uses Mobil 1 EP has never had sludge . And I change oil every 7k miles and even some car manuals will tell you to change oil every 7k miles.......So plz know where u buy ur oil from

Good day,

Please I drive a Toyota Matrix 2009 model but I have a problem of the engine shorting oil.

Mechanic claim the engine is ok and it still steam when I start it, no smoke but it short oil alot. I have tried all oil on it and even go synthetic that was written on the manual 5w 20 it's still the same result please any advice.

It came with a muscle engine and parts
The engine valve cover needs to be open .. So that a mechanic can check for leaks...it could be a worn out valve oil seal

Can this super tech do 10000miles b4 another change? What's the recommended milaege by the manufacturer b4 a change and which filter is recommended for it? Names and price pls... Make the filter available also.
There are two version for super Tech ..

1. Super Tech 10k miles oil change
2. Super Tech Advance for 20k oil change......

I will bring in mostly the Super Tech Advance... This will give protect ur engine from wear and tear .. And most importantly protection from sludge.....

In terms of oil change ..my advice is to read owners manual in terms of when to change oil ......since engine oil has improved over the years .. Some oil are. good till 10k to 20k before change... If anything at all I will only do 10k miles Top ......

In terms of pricing.. When the goods arrive will have the final price.. Either way I will make it more affordable to everyone

I have learnt my lessons, buying brand new tires for this job isn't worth it. Because anything can happen to the tire and that's it. Money is gone just like that, I traveled to ikorodu through the epe axis after driving on that bad road I noticed car have started wobbling.
Got to alignment and tire was racked, that's how I lost the tire
Brand new tires are China made sold in Nigeria. Nobody should buy brand new tires for the uber job ..but for personal cars if u can afford plz do and make no be China made o

On that tyre subject...its just pure luck. Even a brand new Michelin can be torn by a bad pothole on high speed d next day. Our roads are death traps.
My brother no be pothole dey do my own tires and shocks now .... We all agree say the roads na death trap ... But for me na poor quality tokunbo tires and shocks dey do me now.. We have bought tires and shocks tired ... The rate that I have bought this things over and over again. If I don't know any better I go think say my village people are after me ....am just tired... I just dey waste money ... I prefer make I give the money to the motherless shelter

I am tired o..... I go close eyes import my own shocks and tires which will cost $ 700 ... Make I get peace of mind since na my personal car .... Me I like peace of mind .... I don't know about others o

@dru 23,
I agree with you on that discipline part, also getting to know mechanics that know their onions, n not d kazeems that r ready to rip you off.

Seriously, one should pray that the car keeps behaving and shouldn't develop issues beyond one's budget. It's not easy to maintain cars o.
What about looking for good quality parts . That alone can frustrate somebody to the max .......so in these business you are getting screw in different ways by mechanics and by part dealers... When I tell people the need to maintain their cars and buy quality parts etc .. They will say I want sell market etc .....

Now 1 of personal cars needs shocks and tires .. I have bought Tokunbo shocks in ladipo .. The shocks went bad again after few weeks. Now I Will be shipping brand new shocks and tires . The tire part is even crazy . I spend 54k naira on 1 tire the tire only lasted for two weeks ........The brand new tires I got in Yankee will cost $300 ..... Which is fine and I know in the next two years or so I won't have tire or shocks problems.....

It is the parts seller making big money and while the customers are at the lossing end .. If you think am the same amount used to buy these parts over and over again could have save enough money to buy brand new

I generally like to read comments here to amuse myself.
I'll drop this here for people who can think.
For context, I started e-hailing with a corolla, moved to a Civic 04 (dru23) and now I use a Volvo S40.
In my opinion, the corolla is not worth the hype and the hassle. There's more to a car than fuel efficiency and I must say that the corolla is not exactly fantastic in this regard especially when you contrast it against the sacrifice of performance and comfort that you're making.
In April 2017 my corolla was bought for 2.2m and sold last year for 1.230, that's a hit of 950k. In those 3 years, I changed the hub and suspension assembly, AC components, then it had a brain box issue later NO engine/Transmission issues.
April Last year I got a used civic 04 for 450k, spent about 1m on it for the 1 year I had it. Oven bake, suspension assembly, AC, electrical ish and regular maintenance inclusive. I sold it last week for 530 without issues. So give or take a 1m hit.
Got my S40 for 1.7. CLEAN civic EX trim was priced at 1.9 (that's the least I saw) Corolla, lol, we know how far so no need.
While the S40 is not giving me the fuel efficiency of the civic or the corolla, performance and comfort is millions of miles ahead of the Japanese. My S40 is FULL OPTIONS, leather, power everything, parking sensors EVERYTHING and it moves like a dream. Add the humbling it gives riders when I pull up and they enter inside. Since I got it, no rider don talk rudely to me lol.
Now the numbers. While the S40 is not doing the fuel economy of the corolla, it is 800k less to buy today. For clarity, my corolla was doing 1ltr per 10km, S40 is doing 1.15 per 10km. So that's Ask yourself, how long will it take me to spend that extra 800k on petrol?
The parts of the S40 I HEAR are cheaper than the Corolla, I say I HEAR because I have not had to change anything yet. I know for sure that engine and transmission are much cheaper than the Corolla sha. So where exactly is the economy?
The 2nd hand value myth, I have debunked several times here. Mind you, the figures for the Corolla was only purchase price. In those three years about 700k was spent on maintenance. Add that to 2.2 then subtract the price it was sold for. I didn't talk much about the civic because its own parts are much much cheaper than the Corolla parts, imagine changing complete hub assembly (hub, brake discs, brake pads, ball joints) for 16k. Compressor was 15k. Parts were cheap And they lasted till I sold the car.

I primarily felt the need to post this because I adviced someone who had saved up 1.4 but was looking for a loan to add so he could get a toks corolla. I told him to take that money and buy a toks civic 04 or 05. He said na corolla or nothing, as he no see toks money, he bought a naija used and now he has his mechanic on speed dial.

There's nothing in this business like driving your own car. If you have saved up something go and get a used civic, BE SURE to do your due diligence before buying, but I will tell you categorically that your risk exposure is less with the civic. You will make the same amount of money but you'll spend less.
Sometimes driving your own car is not always what is crack up to be .... My advice is to learn to drive for others by getting the experience .. If you can maintain a rental car than it is a good start.....

People don't realize the expenses that comes with this job .. The maintenance and looking for good mechanics that know their onions.. The downtime that you will face.. A single repair can eat up all your profits in two weeks in 1 day .. Or even bankrupt you

And if you are driving for yourself and you don't have the discipline and experience to manage all these challenges you will end up broke up. Driving for yourself is an advantage but it is not an automatic win. You need discipline.......

I know a driver on rental that thought he knew it all . He got his own car and drove for God knows how long . And back on rental again switching from 1 model car to another.. Now back to his own car .....so it takes experience and discipline to drive on ur own.......

I am one of the people that speak against use of 20w50 when u r supposed to use 5w30 or as d case may be...reason is simple - it is not the recommended oil for your car. Nothing more nothing less...its not about brand or quality or price. Its just not the spec.
Also be wary of cheap synthetic blends in d market most of them are just label, only God and them know what they mix, package and sell.

Yes, u may not see any problem in d immediate term, when u use 20w50 but in d long run it definitely shows up in different ways; Loud engine sound, resistance in movement, sludge and cake deposits, Faulty oil pumps, bad oil seals, damaged timing chains, worn out valves, piston, rings, ultimately dead engine.

Beyond respecting peoples choice, one cannot help but educate, then u can choose what u like after knowing the pros and cons. If u want to optimise cost, don't be penny wise and pound foolish...look for a cheaper option within d same specification and maintain d life of your engine. The use of right oil can never be overemphasized and the difference is clear as crystal, especially in rugged and high mileage use like ehailing.

Wonder why people change engine after 2yrs of commercial use?
Wonder why engine performance and behavior drops after 3months of purchasing a tokunbo car? Its not our weather or roads or economy or witches/wizards its simply the quality of lubricant, all other things being equal. One of my car on ehailing has done over 300k miles, thats over 200k miles in Nigeria and sometimes u will not know d engine is on, Very quiet, Never opened d engine for 4yrs now.
Finally somebody understand my point ........

I'm not judging your Business model, but just pointing out you attacking people and calling them names for their own business models as well. You just buttressed my point. You adjusted to super tech when price for mobil1 is now high. People that are using mobil xhp or whatever oil are also optimising their cost.

When people were/are crazy about about corolla, you went for less expensive civic to optimise, it has nothing to do with you being poorer than than going for corolla.

If anyone chooses to use Mobil xhp for his car, that's his choice, respect it and stop tagging it with poverty.

Bless.
Maybe I was misquoted sir ... I never tag anyone poorer for using Mobil xhp... I did say if u can afford a car that cost millions you should be able to afford good quality oil .........

Also I do strongly encourage tokunbo car owners to use quality oil from the start.. This will help them to continue to maintain their cars.... Things are expensive now .......

I do apologize for any misconception I might have created along the way ..........

He's now opting for supertech instead of his darling Mobile 1, but he will still come back here to call those who use mobile xhp instead of supertech poor and that they don't care for their cars.

Before, if anyone was using that supertech instead of mobil1, he would have seen such as uncaring for his car.

A lot of us judge from the positions of privilege.
Now let us get the story straight about Mobil 1 EP and Super Tech ...most of u guys lack the will to think outside box .........

When it comes to Mobil 1 EP. I can afford it for my personal car .....But when it comes to my fleet of Uber cars it is too expensive....

The cost of Mobil 1 EP is between at least 22k naira to even 30k naira compare to when I was selling it at 18k naira .. The weak naira has made import goods expensive.. Even cars are now expensive.......

Business 101.... As a business man you need to find ways to adapt to new changes and think outside box... This is how Super Tech came into the picture. I did my research and I found out it was good oil .... I went on Youtube and Project Farm gave it good reviews.. The oil was compare to other brands of oil and it did very well .......

So my brother don't let anger cloud your judgement. You should appreciate the fact that am helping alot of car owners by giving them quality product ... I am contributing positively in my own little way to the Auto industry in Nigeria......

The day Dru23 opened his mouth and said that he's now looking for alternatives to Mobil 1, was the day I lost respect for him as an enlightened being.

He's an American citizen (not sure) , he has an advantage to a better life than an average Uber driver (not sure) . But the fact that he can afford an oil of 20k, made him forget that most people can't, regardless of how much they love and would want to protect their cars. Forgetting that all fingers are not equal.

He's not looking for an alternative now because Mobil 1 is bad. He's looking for an alternative because he can't afford it anymore. Yet; people that are far better than him, that can afford it are still buying it.

It takes a myopic brain to think and act such way; without being considerate and flexible, knowing the economic situation of the country at present.

One love bro @dru23
No love lost.
