The DVE12 compressor is used on 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 engines for the Kia Rio and Hyundai Accent.

Source: the compressor manufacturer, Doowan
When looking for parts, it is in ur best interest to go by parts number. You try and match part number from whatever part u want to replace........ You need to go back to few pages . to understand what am saying....

Now few years ago . A Nigerian Hyundai Tuscon 2011 0r 2012 can't recall the exact year. The Tucson was bought brand new from Dana Motors. The a/c compressor was bad and needed replacement.

Keep in mind the Dana tuscon is a different engine from the USA spec .. So I was able to match the parts number from the Dana Nigerian Tucson to the USA parts.. It was the exact number.........

During installation the USA spec could not fit exactly in the engine bay area . it was by an inch or so and it was too tight tob sit in the engine bay area . so the mechanic was able to construct a small space for it to fit.. And the a/c worked ...

My theory here is because the Dana Tucson engine size is much smaller than the USA .. So it was an issue of having enough space. Again both a/c compressor have the same part number.......

So now am trying to prevent the same issue from happening to the 2017 accent....

Again young man, when looking for parts you don't by the compatibility bullshit.. You take the old part number that needs replacment and match it with the new replacement . this method will leave no room for errors ........

Don't let them bully you Bro smiley

Simple question you should have asked them is after considering, all the JDM, EDM, KDM, even BDSM bullshit, ceteris paribus, will a Hyundai bought brand new in Nigeria and made for the Nigerian market be of better quality than a US spec of same model?

All the plenty ranting, tell them to choose between a Nigerian used Dana Hyundai and a Nigerian used US spec Hyundai and watch them shamelessly go for the US spec... For them a car being bought brand new in Nigeria is a reason to gutter bargain a Nigerian used vehicle..even if it's working optimally

Many of them run away from buying even Hondas bought brand new in Nigeria as if it has leprosy....Talkless of Hyundai

If Op can't find a lasting solution for his Car AC, he should kuku wind down when driving and enjoy the free fresh air that God gives.. That one no dey burn compressor smiley.. Only Major problem he might have is that driving without ac to defrost his windshield when it's raining will be very stressful

He knows that Dana makes JDM and that's enough knowledge for the discussion.
If the op has issues with fixing his car up to spec, Dru has the capacity and capability to replace the entire car and not just the compressor FOC.

For what it's worth, Dru is the bully here seeing that he has enough money, enough cars, enough drivers, enough debts, enough substance, enough disgruntled staff and enough oil to go round and he's rubbing it in people's faces.

You’re wrong JDM isn’t sold in Korea. Rather KDM is sold in Korea. What we have here in Nigeria is basically the stripped down fully built unit export product.
The debate was that the USA spec is better... Now the export version sold in Nigeria , can it compete favourable with the ones built for the USA market.....

You need to understand that the USA Auto market is a very competitive market .

Due to the competitiveness foreign Auto manufacturer have to make sure they are building the best cars to compete in the USA.. They are sending the best of their best for the USA market....

This is why u hear that certain cars are been discontinue in the USA market, but they are been sold or even doing better in other countries..

So many factors comes to play in this scenario.. But it also boils down to money and profitability of the vehicle ....

Now we do have a some exceptions to the rule .. .. BMW , Toyota, Benz .. These car manufacturers do make certain cars or better yet assemble cars in the USA . They have factories all over USA. And also they are import into the USA .......

The cars that are imported to the USA compare to the ones assembled in the USA . They are of better quality engine wise and have less recall issues ...... The reasons for these is that it is easier to get parts and monitor quality control...

The ones assembled in the USA their parts are usually source from Mexico and other near by countries .. This is why at times you see alot of recall on certain cars ..........

As you may have guessed, I did not buy the car. It's an Official vehicle. How do I know the exact part number for the compressor.

Attached is the sticker on the bad compressor.
Below is the USA version..... The part number is very clear (pic) 1.......

Yours pic (2) ..... It is not very clear at all .. Try and match the exact part number to (pic 1)

Since yours is not USA spec .. The USA spec might not sit up well in the engine base ... The space might be too tight to sit .......

Like I said early on with a Hyundai Tucson that was bought brand new in Nigeria .... We were able to get a USA spec ... But when it was time to replace with the Nigerian bought Tucson , the space was too tight and the mechanic had to construct a space for it .. It worked well ..........

If you are willing to do it and give it a try . I can get it shipped for you under 200k ... I will be loading again in two weeks time ........

Ever heard of JDM?
USA spec cars has better safety features... And yes have heard of them ..... I believe the JDM engine are the ones more than likely are sold by Dana Motors......

Now the reliability of the USA spec engine is actually above average.. What else do u want from a car , plus safety is included ..............

Most of these Hyundai sold by Dana Motors in Nigeria will not pass the USA safety test..

Now back to the guy looking for a compressor .. If I decide to get him a a/c compressor brand new from the USA . chances are it might not be compatible or fit properly with his 1.4liter engine .....

Now from experience few years ago .. A customer requested for an a/c compressor for her 2014 hyundai Tucson .. She bought the car brand new in Nigeria from Dana Motors.........
We had to match the compressor part number to the ones in the USA.. Once the part was ordered the only issue was that the compressor could nit fit properly .. A mechanic had to construct additional space for the compressor to fit properly.........

Keep in mind same car , same year, but different engine

When buying a car proper research and reviews needs to be done.......

The USA spec 2017 Hyundai accent upwards does not come with a 1.4liter engine ........ It comes with a 1.6liter engine . which is pretty reliable .........

Plz do your research and read with an open mind ......

I asked you earlier if your accent was a USA spec ... I didn't get a response ......

But after digging , I found out that it is not a USA spec .. It seems you bought it in Nigeria via Dana Motors.......

The USA spec is mainly a 1.6liter engine , very reliable and strong engine ....... While urs is a 1.4liter engine those engines are design for 3rd world market in my humble opinion .........

So in essence if I do end up buying the compressor from the USA it might not fit your spec ...........

For future reference when buying cars ... Always try sticking to USA spec .. They are usually built better and last longer .....

For an adult, you type like you have serious issues with your mental health.
I'm hoping you talk different.

There's already a discussion train and someone made a statement as to the cost of the engine in relation to the required maintenance levels, this statement required no validation whatsoever or criticism. Out of the blues, you pop out as usual with seemingly useless points to invalidate the statement; your major point being you used an earlier version of the same car and the engine was inexpensive. Any sane person will see that there's a major problem with your thought process, you don't even need psychiatric evaluation, you have a problem.

It's not about being an adult or arriving or going far in life, it's about how much of a problem you can pose to the society if your situation degenerates beyond redemption.

Now look at this your statement about Compressor, review and revalidate how and where this is required in your rebuttal to my post.

If by now you don't know you have a problem, then you are unsalvageable and irredeemable.

Wtf are you on about?
The 2017 Elantra engine (in the context of discuss)has been expensive since inception.
What has your Uber 07 Elantra got to do with the discussion here? Did you smoke again?
Expensive how? It is 2017 model, when you compare it to other cars in the same category , it is not expensive that that the owner will have to junk the car ........

If the car is well maintain and all the necessary fluids are used the engine and transmission will last a long time ... That will be is least of his problems ......

Now the compressor is talking about I can get a brand new OEM at the same price range of a Toyota Corolla of the same year.. Funny enough it might be a bit cheaper......
But I no longer take special orders from customers anymore..... And I was not trying to compare my Elantra 2007 to the 2017 accent ....... What am saying is Hyundai engine are generally very strong...

my point is if the engine is maintain , you will not have to worry about engine cost .. That will be the least of the owner's problem....

Simples. All this long Tory no dey necessary na.

I come in peace oo.
Hopefully the young man with the 2017 accent can get a brand new compressor .. Preferable a new 1 at most......
Now when I tell people to use the proper a/c gas , it falls on deaf ears. One of the major reason of compressor failure or that contributes to a failing compressor is the substandard a/c freon ......

As the business environment in Nigeria changes for the worse.. We also changing too ..

We will no longer take special orders from customers anymore or help source for items to be shipped.....

Time for everyone to buckle up, as we enter this new era of increase of duty on cars.. Meaning that for now only cars from 2013 will make sense to import.....

On the issue of the 2017 accents Hyundai ... Hyundai Parts are not that extremely expensive that people should not buy it .. That is the point am making here

Op should first arrest and beat up that AC tech that was busy dropping pijo compressor into that car.
Then go buy brand new compressor and condenser for that car.
Regardless of type of engine or car.. Cost of car engine has gone up ... Cost of shipping container has gone up .....

But we are not talking about cost of engine in regards to the guy's 2017 accent car ...... When I had my elantra I never had engine issue , but 1 that I had to change. And I was using the cars for uber.. You want to compare uber abuse to normal driving?

So as long as he takes care of the engine he is good to go. And he is not using the car for uber.. So the parts for the car will be relatively the same compare to the car in the same category
