BAZ001: Same way it’s not everybody that had opportunity to be born by black Afro musician mother or grow with parents paying for their school fees, guiding them, connecting them to uncles and colleagues or paying their first house rent. If we look at opportunities and background I’m way behind 80% of guys here.
So we don’t keep dragging this matter. I’m not encouraging everybody to stop driving and jappa. I’m only motivating people that see the job as stop gap and have certificates/work experiences and not getting jobs in Nigeria to look outside Nigeria and sell whatever they have or loan to move to the next level else they will still be complaining about no job in Nigeria next 5years.
2months here two of my guys asked me to get a remote job and stop stressing myself going to work... that I can do two jobs remotely, they are earning x4 of what I earn. Pls are they talking down on my job/status or motivating me to step up ???
I will rather have people around me telling me to move up and not relax with crumbs, than pity party telling me ohh, it’s not easy , just keep managing crumbs, one day e go better, at least you a better than gala seller.
I’m not talking to everybody oohhh. Only my guys doing Uber as stop gap.
To others driving as full time and looking at building fleets of cars I respect and salute your business. We are all hustling to make money. Can you please elaborate more .. Because I want to be motivate..........people are motivated by money .. The reason people jappa is because of the economical reasons ...... I will not advice someone making 6m a month to go and jappa ..... In jappa countries you will pay taxes etc. Unlike Nigeria that u barley pay any tax ..... .. Can you break down the cost of your living expense and how much u make in ur field of work etc ... I know that living expenses in my state is very high .... In terms of the most expensive city in the USA .. My state and City is NUMBER 3 ..... In some city pay less coz the cost of living is less ........ We really to need to get a clear picture on how to jappa. We need facts and figures here bro ... People that were asking me about uber business wanted to know my break down of expenses etc .. Some were motivated and others were not ...... So gives us a break down on how much person can make in your field ...... |

I won't put down this hustle, but obviously won't make it sound like the best thing after jollof. Do what makes you happy and stop making it look like the whole world is missing because they are not keying into your believe. Out-rightly, I dont like working for someone, but my they are worlds out there yet untapped or unknown for you and I.
Someone wrote he has a fleets of cars... my oga use your church mind to be honest with yourself. Did you have any verification to this? At least we know you, your drivers and different hurdles at a point in a period. Anyway, it is what it is.

pope191: Feels good to know Alinco Dangote with multiple cars is here. Let me goan find my kolo and be saying 1k inside everyday. Maybe me too can become Femo in 2 years.
This hustle mad ghan... I was playing a tot in my head. You buy a car let's say Corolla for 2.4 back then and take like 100k to perfect everything including plate number. If you give it out for 25k weekly, it will take 2yrs to get your money back. Then Corolla would have shift to 3.2 million... meaning one would have to struggle to even think of getting toks as inflation has scatter everything. I remember when Dru and I were having this convo and just lately he admit not importin any civic for now. My experience so far, transport business goes beyond writing, it is very deep and crazy in between. Lot of drivers that bought car to start oit like 3 years ago, may not have up to 3 million in their accounts today and when you check the car, you will see they have driven the juice out of the car. Even if they sell and add their savings, it won't get them toks corolla.
The drivers that start out on rentals 2 to 6 months. Should sit and truly do self evaluation if they have been able to save 300k for themselves thus far. Like play a year will pass and nothing has changed around majority. If you think say I they lie, ask Felicity how many cars in drive, if no b say my oga sell plantain plantation.... hmm! Pope b calming down. Ohk! Make I climb bed
All I'll say and careless is be careful of folks that only tell sweet tales. Me I just use uber as a stepping stones to other area of business ... I will continue to say this that transport business is sweet business.. We have different areas of transport sector......... Even before the increase on duty on cars or the weak naira or inflation.. I have made up my mind not to buy anymore more cars for uber... I have moved into area parts of business.......... My engine oil business is encouraging and I see so much opportunities now .... Now since it only makes sense to import 2013 cars upwards. Logically engine oil is about to see an increase now .. Due to that fact that new model cars can't take oil abuse like the older cars . people can't just be buying anyhow engine oil anymore they go hear am well well ........ So business owners , car owners will need to start evaluating themselves now .... It is about to be a bumpy ride ... |

Pearl1910: Bazoo...u are like Buhari who has suffered before but because he is now privileged has forgotten how people without silver spoon survive.
If this Jappa was that easy and simple as u r painting it, I don't think there will still be people in Nigeria. Everybody who desires it would have jappa by now.
U had money in ur account, u sold land, properties, and car, u had people that borrowed u money for you to raise minimum 8m for that ur jappa level. If u didn't have those savings, properties or people to borrow u. U will have to pay a bank or agent 300k monthly as interest (sometimes in advance) for them to borrow u the money you need to travel. How many average Nigerian has these privilege or access. Even after having the knowledge of the process? Do u think everybody with a certification and work experience has traveled out? Even if they all have d desire....the main prerequisite for traveling out legally is ur dollars man, without that, u r just day dreaming. Rich men and their children don't wait for covid window or immigration opportunity to travel out o.
Alot of people do the things they do because there is no money or even good jobs but they must survive. There are hundreds of thousands of graduates who have never got the opportunity to practice for one day. When u got a job of 50k, was it from that salary u used to do certifications that cost upto 300k each? So I am sure u had support, not everybody has such. Many even send money to poor parents and siblings in the village from meager salaries. Not everybody is lucky to have job progression like u did, in a normal society that's the way it should be, but this is Nigeria. But still in this Nigeria, people have started from nothing, but small small they have been made organic millionaires, not until u travel out. So I think ur approach should be advising and not cancelling, encouraging and not demeaning because u haven't even arrived yet. Your level today is a taboo for other people. So how would u feel if someone kept telling u everyday that u r slaving and killing yourself working day and night, running 3 shifts just to make N2m a month. That all he does is chill in his yatch, travel, Casino and club at will. The point I am making is let's all be grateful for where we find ourselves, most important thing for a man is to have a vision/goal and aspire for greater things in life. As we achieve one goal, we move to the next. Like u said some people have stayed in that abroad with their degrees and certifications but could only get cleaning and POS jobs. So change that attitude. It took dragging from Dru before u opened up to how u jappa but even at that it's ur choice.
Quit comparing, quit discouraging, quit demeaning. Just advise people who desire where u are how to go about it, tell ur story if u must, encourage others and bear in mind its different strokes for different folks. Opportunities, circumstances, conditions, background, exposure and connections counts to success in life wherever anyone finds himself and in whatever he/she does.
Peace I agree with you 100% This is why I wanted to be business man. You see. People in Yankee working for the same company for over 30yrs........ And if u notice when I found that u run ur own uber fleets . we became friends and we chatted up till this day on WhatsApp.... I tend to gravitated towards people that run their own business. All these 9 to 5 is pure slavery for me. No matter how much money you getting paid.... I always try to encourage people to be their own boss. Start up a business and built a legacy for ur kids ........ All these 9 to 5 in Yankee is pure slavery .. You are helping people built their dreams....... I have friends that own their own business and I envy them .... They tell me that they will never work a 9 to 5 .....

GiggsTk: Like you said...IF... There are definitely conditions like you've highlighted where it might be wiser to take a job than take a higher purchase, so you're right, where the job is available. Also, my contention was actually the word slavery....it connotes way more than the hard work required to own a car via HP, which I won't consider as slavery. While driving might not be the ideal work experience to earn a better pay at another jo, it could serve as a springboard for funds for other business...
Come to think of it, a lot of the successful businesses out there were started by people with little or no education....or professional experience.
Note; I support getting educated, and I also work in a professional setting and aspire to probably relocate someday, but there are times I envy people who have the flexibility of running a business or doing something for themselves. I will use myself as an example... I started investing in uber from day 1 .... Than my cars were breaking down and I found out was due to wrong use of engine oil... Than I started importing engine oil for personal use for my cars.. Than I was impressed how the engine oil did wonders. I said to myself I bet I can sell the engine oil to other car owners.. I started importing it in small cases .. Than from there the business grew and since than have not looked back. ...... My point is that uber was launching pad to my other business .. I plan on going into real estate soon.. The weak naira is the only obstacle now ......... So life na stage by stage |

But me never had such issues Plus any car lower than 2013 is no go area.. U will end paying basically same duty. And I no longer import cars for either for sale or for uber... BAZ001: For anybody that wants to jappa please don’t leave nairaland Travel section. Follow every post , event and opportunities there back to back. In the core of Covid-19 guys found out an opportunity to UK and US was opened. I doubted myself , but still tried and it was locked trust Nigerians, them flood am chap chap, so I went on to post in the thread jokingly how them done lock up, right there a girl DM me that I should try Abuja and not Lagos, Gbam one hand Abuja never full... (tail end of Trump administration). To cut long story short every one that was qualified and keyed into that opening are in U.S or U.K. (I was among last set) By the time covid was over everybody just they hear jappa... jappa... you don’t know how long we dey d process, with prayer and fasting.
There is one opportunity that showed up for developers in Amazon (Canada, Ireland and United State). I got the info late and nairaland won’t allow me post link here. The guys that jumped on it can be in the process for next 3years and when they jappa our American uncle will say they are not in USA but Canada that it’s not easy to move to U.S except you marry
So bro eyes open, hold your passport tight, save money and ready to sell your lands or property. It requires a lot of money
The Amazon International Events team is hosting an interviewing event in Lagos for Software Developer II candidates who are open to relocating to Canada, Ireland and the United States, to work in Amazon’s Consumer division.

Felicity001: The hard truth is this, you can't find a HP deal for less that 20months right now be it a naija used or toks... The reason is this.
Cars are now very expensive, a lot of Corolla in dealer stands are recycled and they don't even worth the amount. Do you know that few months used Corolla now is from 2m and above?
Okay I got a car recently for a client (toks) and let's leave total expenses plus insurance at say 1.5m, if he's to give it out on HP at least 2.5m for either 18/20 months... That's because he was lucky to get the asset cheap... How many people can be that lucky?
Import duty is on the increase, February this year backwards is was 650k to clean a Corolla less 2013 model but now it's about a million... 950-1m I think, Mercedes Benz less 2013 is the most crazy now... I was advised to back off because I was planning on importing some (C200) directly from Germany b4 but do you know it cost 2.4m for just duty alone So you see?
The government made Toyota cheaper because they're aware of it usage else, Corolla 03-06 would have been sold currently for 5m+ now as against 2.8/3m+ currently
If someone was to give such car on HP how much do you now think he would sell it for? And how long do you think it would take a hard working driver to finish paying? 3 and half years at least and that driver would definitely change engine within that period if unlucky.
All.of these are reasons why people like dru23 and the likes are not adding to their fleets and investors are no more going into the business and a lot of drivers looking for opportunities.
So your best bet is rental, save up to a million and buy a manual car... If you're lucky to get a cheap with less trouble automatic car fine, under 1 yr you would have made your capital.
But looking for HP deal of 18months? I'm sorry to announce to you, you won't see that's just the honest truth unless you just want to suffer yourself for nothing.

SeaTrade: Wetin concern auto industry with all these things you listing except electricity? You think auto companies produce all of their components or what? The only thing auto companies do is to design and form, the rest are outsourced. Not even mercedes benz. All they do is buy sheet of steel and press it to shape and buy plenty paint, most other components are given to other companies to do,like bosch doing electrical for Mercedes,etc.. We can still only import components and have a robust auto industry by reducing tarrifs of those components at the ports and some waivers. There's no such thing as enabling environments, people just see opportunities and strike. Innosson cars are expensive because they're brand new, most of the corolla that comes here are old enough to vote in this coming elections,so why should a brand new car underprice an old one? Do you know the cost of a brand new corolla?Up to N 25m for LE trim and you say innoson cars are expensive at 7m+ brand new?(the ones in that category) What you should be talking about is access to cheap, single digit credit to finance owners that want to buy local made and not supporting Nigeria to be a wasteland for cars that can't be given permits to run in the Western world. We refuse to be a dumping ground for old cars abeg,it's not good for our people. That's why many youths don't have jobs here today, too much tolerance for dumping.

BAZ001: Taking it to front page is making it public
I thought this contribution was low key in the Uber thread ? I don’t think it’s a good idea, Posting Tgiirl name, phone and account number publicly. Have you consider is wife , in-laws and close family members seeing that online. Unless I miss a part but I can’t remember Tgiirl asking for money We decided to contribute in house not expose him to the world.
My thoughts ooh.
If Tgiirl is cool with it no problems, but I thought we should have covered him and not loud it. He didn't not ask for money .....Again I will make it clear he didn't ask for money....... But common sense and empathy says we should do something .....There is nothing wrong making it public There is strength in numbers and the more we donate the more we can achieve a better goal .......by now we should have reached up to millions of naira..... All it takes is for each person to donate 1k naira each... People can come in doves with "likes" to bash person. But when it comes to a legitimate cause people will say silent ........ " aren't we our brothers keeper" I lead by example ... I can't be shouting up and down asking people to donate . And me myself didn't donate........ So I lead by example........ Kindly donate and I will match your donation... Time to put bashing aside and use the energy to donate and push to front page.... " WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS"
