Christianity EtcRe: The Bible Does Not Support Drinking Alcohol, Don't Let Anyone Fool You by DrWillie(m): 12:56pm On Sep 08, 2019
alBHAGDADI:
Hello,

There's this wrong believe among Christians that the Bible supports drinking alcohol but only in moderation. They say we can drink alcohol but we shouldn't get drunk. Well, I will be using Bible verses to show that Christians are not to look at alcohol not to talk of drinking it. Also, this thread will debunk common lies told to support drinking alcohol e.g Jesus turning water to wine.

The word wine is mentioned 231 times in the Bible. But the mistake we make today is that we think the wine mentioned is just alcholic wine. Half the time wine is mentioned in the Bible, it is about fruit juice.

In the Greek and Hebrew languages in which the Bible was written in, the word translated as wine was used to refer to alcohol and also fruit juice. So when those who translated the Bible into English did so, they had to look for an English word which could mean alcoholic beverage and fruit juice. That word is wine. You might wonder why the translators didn't make things easy for us by just writing fruit juice when the verse is talking of fruit juice and write alcoholic beverage when it's about alcohol. The thing is, doing such would mean they are injecting their own idea into the Bible.

Now, in modern times, we have this believe that wine means an alcoholic drinks. That's why we think the word wine in the Bible is always referring to alcohol. Let's me show you that wine in the Bible doesn't always mean alcoholic beverage but fruit juice.

As seen above, wine is found in the cluster i.e wine still in the cluster of grapes. This is purely fruit juice and not alcoholic.

However, grapes usually have a white powdery film around it called yeast. It is that yeast that is made use of to make alcoholic wine. They crush the grapes and in the process the yeast mixed with the fruit juice that was inside grape cluster. Next fermentation takes place then the result if alcoholic wine. Most times, wine makers add more yeast to attain the desired alcohol level. So you see, wine moved from normal fruit juice before it became alcoholic wine after yeast was added.

Now, there are two types of wine as explained above: The alcoholic and fruit juice. There's a certain type of wine the Bible said we shouldn't even look at, not to talk of touching our lips with it. Read the passage below.

The verse above is talking about alcoholic wine. It even describes fermentation process. It says we shouldn't even look at that type of wine. Yet some folks say we can drink it in moderation.

It describes the feeling one gets after drinking alcohol. It's a horrible feeling.

Have you ever had alcohol such that after taking it, women whom you would never touch with a ten foot poll suddenly start looking attractive to you? The above verse describes it as the effect of alcohol. It also describes how you start saying all sorts of junks which you would not normal say.

Remember when you lie down after taking alcohol and the whole bed seems like you are swimming, and also you feel like you are floating and your eyes being dizzy. That's the feeling described.

After the whole horrible night and you wake up to hangover, what's the cure drunkards usual prescribe? They say to cure hangover, start drinking again. That's what the above passage described.

Yet, some people say we can drink alcohol in moderation and that it only becomes a sin when we get drunk. Sorry buddy, the Bible says don't even look at it.

The Bible doesn't say we should drink alcohol in moderation. It says we should be sober at all times (1 Thessalonians 5:6 Titus 2:3).

Now let's see the common verses people love to twist to try to say we can drink alcohol

The first is found in the passage where Jesus turned water into wine. They fail to realize that it was fruit juice kind of wine, not the alcoholic or fermented one. Let's examine the passage carefully.

According to some people, it was alcoholic wine Jesus turned water into and gave the people at the wedding to drink. However, a closer look shows that not to be the case.

Pay close attention to verse 10 where the Bible says when men have well drunk. Let's see how the New International Version (NIV) renders that verse.

If it was alcoholic wine Jesus turned water into, then it basically means he wanted to destroy the guests at the wedding. After they have had too much to drink, Jesus decided to give them more. That means if there were cars back then, many would have accidentally on their way home. Remember the passage in Proverbs 23 which talks about the horrible effects alcohol. If we say these people were already drunk on alcohol, then Jesus just helped them double those effect in their life by giving them more. This means they would start to behold strange women and say perverse things. Now, tell me, who would want to listen to Jesus preach the next morning after the "alcoholic wine" he gave them to drink made some of the men to sleep with their housemaid to the anger of their wives? Made them to saw perverse things to their boss? Made them to sleep in the gutter? Yet you say Jesus gave people alcohol to drink.

Jesus didn't give anybody alcohol to drink. Doing so would mean he's a liar. Remember what he said in the passage below.

If it was alcoholic wine Jesus turned water into at the wedding in Cana, then he abolished the law and the prophet which spoke against alcoholic wine in Proverbs 23:31. So clearly it wasn't alcoholic wine he turned water into but fruit juice.

Another passage people love to use for an excuse to drink alcohol is seen below.

Mathew 11:18-19
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

The above passage talks about a false accusations against Jesus who pointed out how they also falsely accused John the Baptist. Yet, some people will say because Jesus was accused of being a drunkard then it means he use to drink alcohol. Was John the Baptist possessed with a devil? No, but he was accused of such. I now wonder why you believe Jesus drank alcohol due to some false accusations. Remember, the accusation is that he was a drunkard. So if you use this verse to justify drinking alcohol, then don't get angry when some tells you that Jesus use to fall into gutter after getting drunk; he use to behold strange women and say perverse things. Can you see how wrong they are with their interpretation of the passage?

Another verse they use is seen below.

They pick the verse out context and say God is telling us that we can buy alcohol and drink it. If you read the previous verses, you will see that the context is about tithing. Those items listed alongside strong drink are to be brought to the temple for sacrifice to God. Some are eating, but it excludes the strong drink because nowhere in the above passage does it say drink the strong drink, same way it doesn't say drink the oil. Now, see what the strong drink is used for.

The strong drink or wine is poured out onto the Lord for a drink offering. It is not to be drank at all. But people have twisted the verse in Deutoronomy 14:26 to mean God is saying we can drink alcohol even when he said in Proverbs 23 that we shouldn't even look at it.

Guys, drinking alcohol is a sin and every Christian should abstain from it. Don't let anybody fool you into think moderation is the key. A little sip sends your good sense of judgment out the window. That's when another glass or bottle won't seem like a bad idea. And note, wine has tripple alcohol content that four bottles of beer. So don't think drinking a glass of wine is sophisticated. You are emore alcoholic than the beer drinker.
Only you quoting Proverbs 23.31 'we shouldn't look at alcohol.
Then you come to Deuteronomy 14.26 and say we can bring strong drinks to God. That's we have to set our eyes on the alcohol now shey? Guy please stop. Just go and be good follow Christ leave all this distractions.

You are a dumbass dingbat for uttering the above crap. Ama is a compound and Ikiri is name of animal. Most dude of the era in discourse use to take names after certain animals such Odum, Agu, Ikiri, Azumiri, Ediabali, Ekee, etc. Go read your recorded event if you even actually know your name. There are many rapscallions from so-called Rivers State who do not know how the word, Kalabari or Ijo, emerged. By the way, there is absolutely nothing Ijo have that Igbo would want to claim.
You my friend is clearly high on cannabis and some infected pu**u juice. Listening to you makes people dumber. You know nothing called self respect. I want to believe that you are a teenager because the level of ignorance you are showing is nothing short of fallacy of hasty generalization. No experience. I was once like you.

Pidarazznii suuukaaa! You are lost to the opposite extreme of intelligence.
Amachree my friend has nothing, I repeat nothing to do with your Igbo crap. Don't come here and spread propaganda for you struggle that will never actualise until you stop claiming others. Those animal crap name you wrote up there were nicknames and common sense should tell you that we share same names for some wild animals. How about the ones that used fish names as nicknames. Because you people don't have those fishes you have no names for them so all the fish names in Ijaw are purely Ijaw.
It's behaviours like this that make Ijaws avoid you guys. Total bu**sh*t!

You are too young and ill-educated to even understand your background. I guess the manner in which Amaikiri (Igbo) later became Amachree (Ijo) or whatever this means.
Don't you ever come here and display your ignorance. Amachree has no connection to Igbo. Amachree is a combination of 'Ama' and 'Kiri'. Ama - town ; Kiri- land.
Don't drag the great Amachree dynasty into your igboid delusion.
You guys never want to learn. We are not the same people. Sharing common words and traditions doesn't make us same. If you have travelled and gotten exposed you should know that people with common boundaries that trade between themselves pick one or two things from each other.

The 80% is probably through marriages. The one thing that is consistent with ijaw is marrying from other tribes.

In Ondo and Delta, that was how the itsekiri, Apoi, Arogbo,(mixed yoruba and ijaw) Bini Ijaw and Isoko were created or though the Isoko are also mixed with Igbo and Urhoboo.

I dont see how Ijaw can be claiming people that share other ethinicity as Ijaw.

TonyeBarcanista is even claiming Eastern Obolo people or Andoni as Ijaw. They are in actual fact Ibibio subgroup.

People that live on land that the ijaws never reached both in Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.

Ijaw would have even claimed Ogoni if not for war between them and Okirika.

Rivers state is not ijaw, their are igbo sub group, igbo mixed with ibibio subgroup and igbo mixed with ijaw sub-group.

The main body of ijaw speakers are in Bayelsa.
Ijaws don't claim others as Ijaw . Ijaws are proud people and will not want to claim others. Go and read about the origin of Ijaws. Just a little research will clarify everything. The Ijaw you hear everywhere is actually a person. Go and check his descendants and stop writing lies. Some of his descendants created subgroups that inter married with other people .That doesn't change their origin.
Andoni is Ijaw don't confuse them intermarrying and picking efik, oron, and ibibio cultures as being from there.

Dude none of us are aware if ogu-bolo truly are ijaws. Did you see any ijaws provide any evidence to back up their claim..

If you have been in this forum long enough, you would known that is how ijaws are. They did the same exact thing during discussion about ndoki and egbema. Literally even when people quoted the community in question, they still till this very day maintains those people are them. Recall few weeks ago the urhobo actually had a protest over ijaws claiming one of their territory.

Like I said before, believe ijaws claim of any land with a grain of salt.

The Ogu-obolo could well be igbo or even after ethnic group that is neither igbo or ijaws until proven otherwise..
You guys should stop making yourself look silly. If you don't know ask questions and stop generalizing. Ogu/bolo is Okrika and Okrika is Ijaw. I am not conversant with all the LGAs and the towns in them. But when I saw this post I was surprised to see those names because it does not correlate with what I know. Ogu/Bolo people don't bear Igbo names and don't speak Igbo. They speak Okrika which is Ijaw! I am glad that someone with better knowledge just clarified the mix up with ONELGA. Stop fighting over lies. The only part of Rivers state that are Igbo in nature are ikwerre and upwards. No salt water having community is close to Igbo in origin or otherwise. They may have married or bought Igbo slaves in the past but were never Igbo!!

PoliticsRe: How Do Crimes Like Blowing-Up Pipelines Develop The Niger Delta? by DrWillie(m): 4:01pm On Oct 27, 2016
QuotaSystem:
This is a weak and very poor analogy for several reasons;

1. The Niger Delta never dug the well, and never had & still doesn't have the capacity to do so.

2. The Niger Delta by law does not own the water in the well, Nigeria does, so there is nothing like "allowing neighbours out of goodness of the heart".

3. The Niger Delta itself benefits from the "water" from the well, even with an added derivation of extra buckets which other neighbors don't enjoy, but the parents of the house are fond of wasting and stealing it so members of its household then start dying of thirst in anger thinking it's due to the neighbors activities.

4. In trying to damage the well dug by the neighbors, the members of the household end up flooding and killing themselves.

What a tragedy brought about by unmitigated stupidity of the household and wickedness of the parents.
It is statements like this that make them blow pipe lines.

First, if you think ND those not have the capacitg to develope the oil. Please who those in Nigeria? The technology used is it owned by Nigerians? Is it not foreigners that were brought into develope it? Are you trying to insult them indirectly by saying ND people are so stupid that they can not make deals like any other Nigerian with foreigners to develope the oil?

Secondly the law that made the oil to n owned by Nigeria was made because of oil by Obasanjo. Before oil was discovered every thing you mined belonged to you. They found oil and because of greediness and because they were in power they made decrees to make the oil everybodies. Now tell n those that sound okay to you.

Thirdly if I come to your backyard were you have a farm and take everything there giving you just 13% will you say it is fair? Will you say you were given a fair share by someone who has no stake in your farm just because he can bully you.

Now for more than 30years ND people having been using peaceful means to agitate. what happened? They were killed and called names. Nobody said anything. Now everybody is paying attention as they are speaking the language FG understands violence and destruction.

This your view of the oil belonging to Nigeria is a fallacy and sooner or later, the Oil will be returned. People from other region make themselves billionaires on other people's wealth. The people complain and you insult them. I pray same thing happens to everyone who is supporting this injustice but in your case let it never be resolved or heard of. So you suffer in silence! !!

SpicyJosBabe:
It is extremely embarrasing that someone can say Urhobo or Ijaw are the 4th largest tribe in Nigeria.
Where did the person put Kanuris, Tivs and Nupes?
Urhobos are found in only Delta central.

Nupes are the only minority group who have produced governors of 3 different states (Kwara, Niger and Kano).
And the same Nupes are also all over Kogi state and Federal capital territory.

Kanuri people are the only ones who produce governors in Borno and Yobe states. They are the largest tribe in the north-east. They are also found in Jigawa, Bauchi and Gombe states.

Tiv people are all over Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba and even Cross river state where they are among the majority groups. They are also in Cameroon in large numbers.

Gwari people have produced 2 head of state in Nigeria (Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar). Gbagyi (Gwari) people are among the largest tribes in Kaduna, Niger and Nasarawa states, they own majority of FCT and they are also found in Kogi.

The problem is that most southernerns think the whole north and middlebelt is Hausa-fulani which is very very wrong and ignorant!
Madam go to Wikipedia and check their populations. Ijaw is second to Tiv but the Tiv population is not only in Nigeria. I think Tiv is 13mill while Ijaw is 10mill. They could still be made up since someone wrote Wikipedia. And what is making people confused about the Ijaw population is because they have so many sub-languages and clan. But if we bring all of them together . They are indisputably the 4th largest, trust me! And just so you know I am partly Tiv.

Ijaw is the dominant group in Rivers state. But due to politics and port harcourt being in Ikwerre land all the population in port harcourt is given to Ikwerre. But even in port harcourt/Ikwerre villages around port harcourt the Ijaws are at least 30% of the population, then we have the igbos and other foreigners. And Kalabari is Ijaw no argument there. Ijaw has many sub-languages.

I remember writing this last year. Now looking back I feel like a prophet. With the amount of fake and incomplete informations being passed around in our country we should learn to enlighten ourselves. Don't be blinded by sentiments and party affiliations. The truth is always the truth. Always ask yourself why? What is different this time? What was done in previous cases? Why is Mr X walking free for same thing? Why still "we will" ? What happened to we have? etc.
Be smart! Don't be taken for a ride. Always ask questions. These people will always use your emotions to deceive you. They know you hate corruption, so to fight anyone all they have to do is claim or find some hard currency on him and shout he is corrupt. So crucify him!
They know Buhari was a dictator as a head of state so any little mistake or aggression they shout look 'he is a dictator, shey we told you so!'

New Evil Introduced By APC. by DrWillie(m): 12:58pm On Jul 13, 2015
[/b]
There is a new evil that have been introduced to our already dirty and corrupt politics. It is called propaganda. Propaganda as defined by Google is ''information especially of a biased or misleading nature used to promote a political cause or point of view".
Nigerians have been blind to notice how this might change everything for the worse. Governments have been known to use this means to deceive their citizens. We had a little of it in this country until desperate politicians used it for their own selfish agendas.

This affects everyone of us irrespective of your party affiliation( PDP, APC, LP). Every politicians now know how gullible Nigerians are and will milk that avenue in any way they can. Our gullibilty as Nigerians is due to many factors ranging from tribal, religious, educational level to party affiliations but the most important one is enlightenment. Being educated does not mean you are enlightened, If not how else will one believe that Buhari has never ever used his positions in government before to his benefit(corrupt). Who was the head of PTF when Abacha was stealing our money? How could someone who is anti corruption even work in a government like that? My Dad that was far from Abacha excesses had to retire from federal service just because he couldn't stand how corrupt and evil Abacha was and Buhari said Abacha never stole a dime notwithstanding the evidence. That alone should have let an enlightened person not to buy into all the lies. I am not even talking about the corrupt people he befriended just to win elections. SMH.

Anyway, now that this new evil is embedded in our polity and seems to be working, don't be surprised when you notice how lies and counter lies will be filling our ears everday distracting us from what really matters. There is practically going to be no way to know the truth any more. What should I believe and what not when everything is said for the benefit of some crook somewhere.

Please Nigerians try to use the brains you were given. And get a truth filter so you don't swallow all they say hook, line and sink.

Pls be respectful if you need to comment. That will show you are enlightened. *lol*

Mr man don't be writing lies to win argument. Ijaw is the single largest tribe in Rivers. Igbos are foreigners. And Ikwerre has more population politically because the metropolis of port harcourt is ikwerre land. But I can still tell you that the ijaws are still more than the ikwerres in port harcourt.

"bro please is it the number of states where you find them or their number in those states..

i am aware that their largest state is bayelsa and some say bayelsa is not homogeneously ijaw..

In delta, the urhobo are the largest followed by Aniomas.

In Edo, Ondo, their population in those states are very insignificant, am not sure of the number of local government they control.. educated me on it if you know.

I dont believe that lagos crap..they are in lagos but as migrant fishermen who live on water and have inhabited those places for long. if at all we want to assume they are indigenous to lagos, i doubt the control a ward not to even talk of a local government. other migrant ethnic groups in lagos even have more people in lagos than the lagos ijaws(just to assume the exist in lagos)

In rivers, the igboid groups are more than 65-70% in rivers state, leaving the remaining 30% to be share between the remain groups "

People pls get it into your head Nigeria runs a Federal system therefore the oilbis not Nigerians, it is owned by the locals but grees will not let you say the truth. You leave your place and own all d oil wells. When their son comes to rule you use lies and violence to push him out. Just Imagine how wicked Nigerians are. Can anyone from ND own groundnut pyramids or massive cocoa farms in your own place. This country will not progress until the truth prevails. Their actions are bad but that is d language Nigerian govt understands. Meanwhile all d SW and Northern hypocrites should go hug transformers ppl in ND support them.

It's obvious u don't stay anywhere close to Rivers State.. .. So shhh move away boy
He lives in rivers state. Everything he said is right. Amaechi worked in his first tenure while in PDP. In his second tenure, once he started mingling with these " saints" he stopped working. You guys are complaining of Wike borrowing in a time like this, pleasecan you answer this one question. Why will a state like Rivers owe salaries for months when oil price was still high?
Christianity EtcRe: Which is most ideal to use?"IJN,In Jesus name or In the name of Jesus christ" by DrWillie(m): 7:30pm On Mar 09, 2016
I totally agree with you. I thought I was the only one thinking this way. With the rate of vodoo and fetishes in our society it is very possible the Jesus some pastors are calling when they pray is not Christ. You have to be specific as people answer Jesus and you could be calling anyone else.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 3 Brain Teasing Job Test Questions I Was Asked. Please drop your answers by DrWillie(m): 10:31pm On Jan 27, 2016
odimbannamdi:
So i was invited to a job aptitude test in Surulere 2days ago. 3 questions caught my attention. Even though i was quite sure of the answers i provided, i still want to ask guys here for their perusal on them

Here they are:

1. A glove and cup both cost 110naira. The cost of the glove is 100times more than that of the cup. How much is the cup?

2. If it takes 10 machines 10minutes to make 10doughnuts, how long will it take 100machines to make 100doughnuts?

3. A man wants to venture into business so he buys a dozen eggs for 5naira and sells them for 3naira. From his calculation, if he sells 20eggs daily, in 1year he will be a millionaire. And his calculation is correct. How is that possible?
Questions 1 and 2 have been answered.
3. Becoming a millionaire is not always from being poorer. You can become a millionaire after lossing money as a billionaire. So the answer is the man is currently a billionaire and will become a millionaire after incurring losses.
HealthRe: Health Workers Flee From Suspected Lassa Fever Patient. by DrWillie(m): 11:41am On Jan 14, 2016
People accusing them of being unprofessional should tell me if they can risk their lives for anyone. Especially when some corrupt idiots have stolen the money meant to equip the hospitals to prevent infection.
Ask your govt to equip the hospitals with all necessary amenities before judging them. And dont forget that this is life and death not some stupid play.

Asari bragged and ranted than u did, today he is dumb cos everybody knows this government is nt smiling.
If u have any evidence that Obj, Tinubu, and PMB stole tender it to EFCC.If obj stole why didn't Jonathan probe him,and why didn't he expose him evn when obj accused him of corruption, that makes Jonathan evn more dumb and clueless.PMB is nt clueless, so he is doing d needful by preparing a prison for all d goats that ate all our yams, and Jonathan Is d chief he-goat.They wil jail him, or he refunds every loot and plead for leniency nothing short of that.
d Wailers can keep wailing it doesn't change d price of recharge card.
Re u listening to urself? Jonathan is guilty without eveidence just because PMB is shouting corruption corruption...but OBJ, PMB are free even without evidence. U re filled with hate for GEJ due to what his political opponents said even without evidence u want to nail him. Lemme tell u wat u don't know. GEJ bite more than he can chew by stopping ppl like OBJ and all d thieves in this country thats y they made sure he left. If PMB is wise he will just strengthen the institutions and let dem do their jobs. I will repeat incase u don't understand GEJ will not be in jail from PMB he knows too well to try that rubbish. What GEJ might be asking for is for his boys not himself. GEJ is immune..u can blive wat u want but thats d truth.

I wonder what type of juju this white people have used on our youths. If not how could someone be openly biased and blinded.
-Fact PMB cannot jail GEJ except the country wants big wahala of no return.
- Fact PMB, OBJ, TINUBU etc have all stolen public funds or been corrupt so why are u silent about them calling them corruption fighters.
- Fact any one closing their eyes to these ppl and shouting that PMB is fighting corruption is a hypocrite and is one of this country's wahala.

SHIKEENA!!
PoliticsRe: Buhari's Presidency - Two Months Of Indisputable Success by DrWillie(m): 8:59am On Jul 31, 2015
I pity my country. Every day I see people celebrating mediocrity because of there bias. Turning a blind eye where it suits them and over exaggerating little success like its a big deal. I wonder y someone will list bailing out the state govt as an achievement. U mean collecting money from the bank and sharing it is success. Something any Tom, Dick n Harry can do.
And please all these talks about no money in the country is all bullshit. There is less money I agree but the one we have is still more than enough to work. We just had excess before.
concerning BH how will anyone that lives in this country say this goct is recording success. What has the govt done that wasn't done before. As a matter of fact we the rate of death by suicide bombings is at a record peak. Geeeze ppl stop being sentimental. SMH
PoliticsThe New Evil Introduced By APC. by DrWillie(op): 12:58pm On Jul 13, 2015

*lol*
