OPTION 1
Convert the naira to USD via black market
Pay the USD into your domiciliary account.

Hopefully you travelled with your usd card.
You can withdraw usd at certain ATMs
Take to your bank and convert to CAD

OPTION 2
Initiate upkeep/maintenance via Form A and attach the required documents.
Leave the money in your naira account until debit you and credit your CAD account.

However this process takes a while
Thanks. Funny how we convert using cbn rate when we bout to travel only to start using fx when we arrive lol money done go down

Also, can I use the exchangers here in Canada ? I’m in Canada and my money is in naira. I have a dorm acc too but small money is in there.

Tips for checking for accommodation.

1. Use Facebook Market Place. Ensure your location reflects your real location and 25km radius (depending on your desired coverage and how wide the city is). Then search using words like "1 bed," "2 beds apartment near me" etc.

2. Visit Kijiji.ca

3. Your school may have off campus housing website or portal.
thank you. I have done all of that before asking this question and no positive feedback atall. Please if you know anyone who’s renting out pls kindly email me.

CIBC, Scotiabank or TD Bank. They offer free account for students.

TD offers $2,000 credit card, others offer $1,000 credit card.
thanks! How about housing ? I’m really in need of one. I’m in Vancouver I don’t mind any in Richmond or burnaby

First you create an account using your email linked to your BVN. Next you apply for Form A by uploading all relevant documents while selecting your bank and preferred branch. Once submit successfully, then you get in touch with the bank branch you selected for review and approval. Once approved the waiting begins.
pls is it compulsory to connect with the bank branch ?

Guys please don’t email me about the tax clearance again. Some of you don’t know how to talk. Go and figure it out yourselves.

Guys this is not an advert but I'm concerned for the people that get refusals which can be avoided.
If you need an agency not even agent, go to maple education in Lekki, mainland, abj or ph or even BC Canada.
I did my application with them . they are Behind and not hungry, you will see for yourself when u do a walk in . they will assign you to a person that will do your application and it'll pass several reviews. stop applying multiple times for a visa if you don't know how to do it. too much refusals isn't appealing. You can do a walk in to their branches to confirm .

Hi, to do Uber in BC, you must have a valid BC drivers license. Your car model would be at least 2016 too. To be a fitness trainer, you have to take be certified. Also, your 20hrs work restriction might hinder you. I’m not trying to discourage you… just wanted you to be aware! Regardless, it is possible!

Thank you!

The card has not worked, I even tried it again now, I am so so worried bro

Its a debit dollar card from GTB

Yes, it has been activated, I have been using it for over a year now. In fact, it is the same card my friend used to pay for his Canada visa last year and I have been using it almost on a daily basis to make transactions online.

Friends what do I do? i am running out of time
Go to your bank and have them send the funds via your dollar acc. You’re just wasting time using the card.

Please I received a don't reply mail on Friday, I was expecting a positive result honestly, to my greatest surprise I downloaded the corresponding letter, with a summary of a generic response saying I have been given a 5 years ban previously, this was a shock to me because I was never sent the normal procedural fairness letter, please I really don't understand what to do, my sponsor is my brother and MPOWER loan, I have also ordered for my CBSA note immediately, please what must have been the issue please, attached is the letter..... and I never used a fraudulent document or bank statement, I even sent the usual my bank statement which contains a password, although my sponsor bank statement he gave me was the printed copy, please what must have been the problem? Pardon my English, please

Damn ! I’m so sorry. They’d given you a ban on your previous application. Was it an agent that applied for you before ?

Good afternoon
My brother got this visa but already deferred his admission to September
Can he still leave next month
Its likely they’ll boot it back unless he gives a good reason as to why he’s entering Canada early. Also, do you know he won’t be able to work until his class starts? It’s also unlikely he passes immigration at the lagos int airport.

Wahala... Is it not better to settle for UK like this..this Canada wahala too much o... What if ones dad is late andur mum is an old person in the village that doesn't have NIN? Because I don't understand
if one’s parent is/are late, the person will need to attach their death certificates and it must be directly from the hospital. Not, NPC that has no record.

The same way you applied using Form A for your school fees, you can also apply the same in a section called maintenance/upkeep in the same Form A portal under educational purposes
alright thank you. I didn’t use form A though. I used my dollar card then.

Please I would like know if one can still be save and withdraw from the account used as your proof of funds. But the actual amount needed won't be touched
yes you can. Have you submitted your application ? If yes, they only have info based on the acc statement you gave for that duration.

Hi Gurus,

Welldone for the good job.

Please do i have to explain lumpsums from my personal account to my corporate account run by my spouse and I?

I seem to be getting conflicted on the matter! Because its like me getting explaining lumpsums between 2 of my personal accounts. Please what is the right thing to do?

Why are you jumping into conclusion that he borrowed money?

A couple of months ago on this very thread people raised the point that even with enough naira, living in cities such as Toronto and Vancouver is very expensive. Coupled with the fact that getting jobs in those cities can be challenging for first timers.
shift abeg. Did you see where I said he borrowed money or you’re the one purposely saying that. Everyone knows Ontario and BC is expensive that’s why you need to plan as you’ll be relying on your naira. Someone is to resume school on September, he has booked his flight for July how move dumb is that and I’m not referring to the OP but other people that’d want to move like that.

[quote author=Edc2 post=122997260]People are struggling to come here praying everyday when me and some friends are going through hell on earth here in canada. No job everything is also very expensive. Spending lots of cash we came with from naija

Except you are financially okay and come from a rich home. I advise anyone who want to come here to come in with PR. If you are struggling do not bother coming here with. Student visa because it’s hard here.

How is this a discouragement? We are advising our brother on the best. No where did I even mention college. School refers to all institutions including polytechnics, universities, colleges etc. Besides there are many masters programs whose tuition fees are even less than half of that school he stated. E.g University of Saskatchewan, University of Lethbridge, University of Calgary etc total tuition for 2years are cheaper for the entire 2years of 4 semesters instead of his current 6 semesters. Nevertheless, if he has adequate funds that covers his current choice, he is free to go for it.
he asked of how much proof of funds he needs to show not if the school is expensive.
