Christianity Etc › Re: Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by Dtruthspeaker: 1:35pm On Jun 20, 2020
Blackmoran:
Hi, I have always have this view about the old testament, how the teachings and stories are extreme, brutal, selfish and violent, and a lot of injustice. Examples of this was the story of job who was righteous with God but was made to suffer for doing nothing but rather to just test is faith, stories of wars Israelite taking over cities in the name of God. You know what am saying when you read the old testament its kind of barbaric a lot of sacrifice and killings for the most stupid things there is no different between the old testament and what most extreme terrorist are doing now.. In my opinion i Really think the old testament should be separated from Christian teaching. The only time we need the old testament is for the purpose of chronology and ancestry trace...
Kai! Why do Nigerians never know and never understand?

When will you learn Judgements and Sound Reasonings?

Seeing that you do not know nor understand, so how then can you speak so Ignorantly and wickedly come to the conclusion you foolishly arrived at?

I would have enlightened you but now I am Angry.

Therefore, seeing that you have come to this wicked conclusion, then we would allow you live with it, which also means that you should not have bothered us in making this post, and therefore you are entitled to do away with the old Testament in your own Bible, as is in your power to do.

Who answer for it, is it not You Alone?

Bruv, that's not the point. There are others successful people out there who are "fools" as your psalm describe and are doing good and adding value to lives.

@embolded point of correction. Being atheist means to have unbelief in God/gods. And I don't care about his personal belief. But why use panodo to another man's headache?

The point is that bible verse is not applicable to everyone. There are believers who are fools and have done abominable works but I won't mention name because they are too popular not to be known.
Did the Lord God not say that every one shall be Judged According to Their Works?

A typical FOOL'S TALES indeed. So ignorant to the extend that you couldn't read and digest just simple verse in the bible. PSALM 14
"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." A cursory review of this psalm would show it is a lie. The very next sentence says, "They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is NONE that doeth good." So, you need only find ONE non-believer who has done good and you have PROVEN the psalm a lie. Well, here are two: Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. They are the two most generous philanthropists alive and they are both atheists. Buffett has pledged to give 99% of his wealth to charity and Gates has donated over $26 billion so far.

I still ask, how do we define what is good and what is bad?
Even though man knows good and evil, he often is Sometimes plagued with not being able to discern that which is good from that which is bad.

Ecclesiastes 9:1/2 "...no man knoweth either love (good) or hatred (evil) by all that is before them.

But,

Ecclesiastes 9:1- "For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God:..."

It is Written Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. Psalms 25:8-10.
Verse 12-14.
"What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant."

For we have shown you that the Proof of God is Around You, On top of You, Under You and Inside you.

Yet, with all these things, you still foolishly cry Proof of God, There is no God like those Idiots in Judah-Ezekiel 8:12

"12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth."

Psalm 14
"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord."

I will kindly and sincerely also address a few things that I saw written in my other thread by two guys...Forgness & LordReed...both of whom I am praying for..in light of the scriptural context.
You must be aware of "That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3 -Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts," 2 Peter 3:2/3 among other scriptures on this issue.

Is it provided in these days, that you should pray for them? So, specifically for you see Jude, 17-19 "But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Is it provided that you should pray for them?

Do you not even have a Very Great Need for you to Overcome these last days and that by the Mercy of the Lord, He would Find You Acceptable for His Kingdom?

Or have you not heard that it is Written, Scarcely Are the Righteous saved and that the entering into the kingdom of God is as trying to enter the eye of the Needle?

Is it going to be easy for you to enter that Needle's Eye, how much more difficult, pushing or pulling another person or persons into it, being unwilling to enter it?

You really think I'm not aware of what's going on, but you have absolutely no idea. A thread of someone who claims to want to leave religion made front page today, and you're here talking about the similar threads you put down...so tell me why you didn't put down that one as well, hmmm...that shows you that you can't stop the devil from spreading his message via his children regardless of how you try, but the best thing you can do to counter that is to preach the truth! So it baffles me that this thread which does exactly that, is what you're condemning and comparing to such.

You're entitled to your opinion though however I believe you're getting it wrong.
Yeah, I saw that thread but I have not gone in because I know many things.

I) He is right to leave 'religion' because good things do not come from religion, they come from the Giver of Good, God! He ought to have known this earlier but as it is said better late than never.

2) Having learnt this lesson I hope he learns that the things he is searching for can not be found anywhere else, but he has to embark on that fruitless journey to know this, for he would not listen to anyone who tells him that it is fruitless. Which also means that he would now learn what it truly means to be deceived.

So in my opinion, he's off to a good adventure which I know would certainly bring him back to God (not religion) at the end of his trip.

And that's where we would be waiting for him!

Modified!
Just looked at the thread and exactly as I predicted.that religion can not grant the desires of his heart, so he is on a journey to find the place or places where his desires would be fulfilled.

But alas he shall find none and like Solomon, he shall cry that "All is Vanity" cheesy

It's a real shame that you've chosen to judge my intention and message on the basis of men's reaction. I'm pressed to ask if you're truly here to serve God's interest or that of men, because you called a thread that emphatically spoke the truth about God's existence and the second coming of Jesus, when all things hidden would be revealed, an "unnecessary thread"?

I said "God could take care of Himself", and I very well knew what I was talking about, because if God reacted to all the insults and abuses from men coming His way the same way you're doing, everyone of them would be dead by now. But they are not, because God is very tolerant and forbearing...that's the example I try to follow otherwise I would be cutting off people's ears as Simon Peter...and I think you should learn to do same if you really loved God as you claim.
I understand your intentions but several threads on this topic have been raised by Antichrists even within the last 7days and we have put them down and you were not there.

Because it is known that God Exists and it should never have been asked!

Now that we have just come out from battle with the enemy, you are now the one creating another skirmish in your bid to 'preach' by proving what has been proven already.

You do not even know the implication of what you are doing, because you would not have created this thread.

I have no power to judge you and I judge you not. The One Who shall Judge All, Cometh!

I leave you to your ways.

Don't understand what you're driving at with this. Should someone not preach the gospel again because it is being scoffed at? huh I appreciate your concerns, but trust me, God can take care of Himself, so let them scoff and insult...that is their own job, but we must do ours and preach the gospel regardless.
If you Truly Loved Him, you would certainly Feel the Pain and Anguish He Must suffer from the Ridicule which Must Needs Come from the Affliction of His Enemies especially in "these days".

If you Loved Him, you would not Expose Him to these wicked, untruthful and wrongful scorns, insults and very evil abuses.

If you Loved Him, you would never have said that He shall "take care of Himself". You would have known that you are Duty Bound to take care of Him and that Rather, this is An Opportunity to Share and Partake in His Suffering and Death, And to Carry Your Own Cross to Follow Him

But by that statement, you have Abandoned Him to His Own Fate, A Fate Caused By You. Yet, you say you Love Him.

Knowing the natural conducts of this world, would you Expose and Open your Mother or Father, Girlfriend or Wife to such ridicule, shame and embarrassment from their Enemies?

Can anyone say you love them after you have done this? And shall they praise you and thank you, that you have done very well?

If you can do this for mere mortals like you who you neither created nor is it Guaranteed that they shall Love you in return, how shall you not do the same for thy Holy and Good Creator, Who Loved and Loves You?

Please, Examine yourself!

There's a popular gameshow where a contestant would be asked a question by the host. He would be given multiple options to choose the correct answer from. Upon choosing an answer, his choice would be highlighted among the given options. Then he'd be asked, "is that your final answer?"

So although, he'd already given an answer to the question, he'd still have the chance to effect change to it during that grace period in case he's not sure, before he says it's his final answer.

But once he indicates it's his final answer, the answer he gave would be locked, so he'd no longer be able to alter it after that...

Similarities can drawn from that game show to the reality of life where the "billion dollar" question is being asked concerning God's existence, with different answers being given to that very question. However there's just one final answer to the God-existence question, and it is an emphatic "YES! GOD EXISTS!"

That answer has been locked eternally, so there's nothing anyone can do or say to change or alter that answer regardless of any other answers they may give, because that's the final answer to the God-existence question.

That final answer would be revealed to all and sundry on the day of judgement by the Judge of the whole earth:

Matthew 24:30

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

So get ready, get ready, get ready people, for that day is surely coming, and it comes quickly.

God bless Nigeria.
Do you see what you have done, on top of all the insults and scoffing heaped upon God, you still had to raise this unnecessary thread.

Have you not read that in these last days which is upon us that "That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3 -Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts," 2 Peter 3:2/3.

hoopernikao:
Jesus requires no bathe or cleaning from an unbeliever to be saved Sir. No matter how he washed even with white soap he cant be cleaned except by the blood of Jesus.

A man don't clean himself to come to Jesus, no single scriptures for that. A man must repent, change his heart and receive the life of Christ, that is how he is washed.

I say again, no man can wash himself clean expect the blood of Jesus. A man is to come with trust that all his sins no matter how big can be taken care of by the blood, that is repentance and it's driving by faith.

" I am a sinner and I now know and receive truly there is a savior to deliver me and clean me, I have no ability of mine to do so, hence I come to you trusting in your blood to make me whole".

That is salvation. No personal stuff.

If I can take care of my sins before coming to Jesus what sin then will Jesus washes away. Hence a sinner will come to him with all he is and trust and accept him as the only sacrifice to wash and take away sins. Anything outside these is not salvation.
From my earlier Answer, you now understand that I am saying that Repentance is the Bath. Having A Proper Bath in Righteousness, Using the Blood of the Lamb as your "water".

Ah! I am not saying and I never said that soap and water can wash away sins oh!

I am only saying that Repentance must be done with a pure heart and with no deceit or wrongfulness, like Simon in Acts 8:9-23.

hoopernikao:
It seems you are mixing things up.

I don't have issues with what you wrote above.
Why I asked questions is because you called the above a "baptism". Let me quote you again and

So, refering repentance to acceptable baptism is a big issue. Firstly, that can't be called baptism and was never called baptism in the bible.

Baptism is taught in Epistles as one. Hence the baptism of the holyghost. This is also what you received at salvation. It is not what happened afterwards. A man who received salvation must have done so with a repentance heart i.e. a change of heart. Hence no man with salvation lacks the baptism of the holyghost. Any other visible or spectacular act you see afterwards are only signs. The receiving of the Spirit itself is supernatural and don't have to be spectacular. And that is done at salvation.
I understand, there is no contention anywhere.

For what you were trying to comprehend in my statement which you now understand, is that I was only merely attempting to describe the flow of the Holy Spirit from salvation back to baptism and Beginning from True Repentance, linking All of them Together, using the Relevant Laws.

Also here you agreed to ONE baptism. And according to your former explanation you mentioned two:
1. Acceptable baptism: for washing of sin and body of sins.

2. Holyghost baptism: for the holyghost to be received.

Going by Ephesian you quoted, which one is actually the one baptism.
I never ever said 2 Baptism (or is Baptisms?).

1) I said "Baptism refers to the Washing of Your Body and Soul, That is A Bath to wash all your dirts (Sins and Offences) Away.

And,

2) The Pouring and Receiving of the Holy Spirit can be likened to the Rubbing of an Ointment (which you can not do to yourself), A Holy Ointment on Both Your Body and Soul, As well as the "Clothing" of Your Body and Soul.

One is Bathe and bathe very well both bodily and Especially Spiritually.

Two, is Pray that your bathing is Acceptable to and Accepted by the Lord, if not, you'll need to do it again, until the Lord Accepts You.

If I get you well, the sinner will have to clean himself, perform what you called acceptable baptism, wash himself off sin and offences then the holyghost can come and baptise him. Right?

I have also checked the text you gave

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise

I can't see a cleaning of sin here by the sinner nor do I see his immersion for acceptable cleaning of his body and sins. You may need to expatiate.

Secondly and more importantly,
How does the person cleans himself from his sin and does acceptable baptism by himself since the holyghost is not responsible.
Okay, lets go this way. It is Settled that "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit". What does a "broken spirit" mean in this statement? Does it not mean Remorse, Regret and A Quest to Seek Forgiveness for the doing of a Wrong (that you now know is wrong)? Isn't that what is known as True Repentance, which Always brings about a Broken spirit?

Therefore, by the Law Stated Above here, where there is a broken spirit, the Lord would accept.

Why would the Lord accept it? Because it fulfills another Law which States that "Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation." Psalm 24:3-5. And Also Psalm 4:5- "Offer the sacrifices of Righteousness (Rightness in today's speech).

Therefore, by the Law in Romans 12:1, the Lord would Accept "a living sacrifice, Holy, Acceptable unto Him", and if the Lord accepts this sacrifice of Contrition, have You, who did All these things, Not Offered a Holy and Acceptable Offering?

These are the Laws and therefore this is my Stand!

Thank you for your kind words.

When you see many judgements from “kangaroo” courts around the world especially in third-world countries (a few days ago, one sentenced a man to death-by-stoning for apostatizing from his former belief), one yearns for J-U-S-T-I-C-E even on their dying bed. Justice can only be found when a just judge presides over a case; an unjust one is an abomination - a virus of the worst kind; only monsters would preside over court cases that administer laws like the “Black codes“ that has left a legacy of racism, more than 200 years later. Hmmm, The Just judge view is just my guide to understanding how a judge can judge so that the end results are love, sanity, fairness and a blissful posterity; it’s effect cannot be overstated.

Today, we remember ‘The Merchant of Venice’ because of the conundrum the righteous judgment placed on Shylock; If God is just, He must punish the offender rightly; if He is must tender justice with mercy, He must provide a substitute to take the place of the offender; All are born in sin including children; for children, the substitute has been provided and they have no choice in the matter because good laws consider first, the well being of the child, and their actions can not nullify the first law in children’s rights.

No child will be damned after their demise; they have a one-way ticket to be with God.
I see the word "if God is Just", you do not know if in Truth whether God is Just.

But I believe with what you know, you can find it out!

Eg Joseph had a dream, it happened, pharoah had a dream, it happened, Nebu-nebu had a dream and it happened.

Abraham had a vision, it happened, Zacharias had a vision, it happened, Peter had a vision of Cornelius, it happened, Cornelius had a vision, it happened, An-a-ni'as had a vision, it happened, among other Dreams and Visions which happened.

Oh, but To You Dreams Cannot and Do Not Happen.

And you are greater than the Bible. And seeing your own dreams which never happen, therefore, the dreams and visions in the Bible never happened, therefore they are all stories made up to scare you, ok!

By that reason therefore, you shouldnt be following Christ as you claim. OkaaayI I understand, that part is not scary.

Ok, I understand. You practice Cut and Join service to God; that is cut out the scary part and join only the parts that do not scare you, ok, I get it now.

But Christ, whom you say you follow said "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Oh, I understand, you have cut it out or Christ did not really mean what He Said. Or you would say that it is not Christ Who said it.

I understand, now

It is not my wish. It is what John himself, the author of the book, confessed to at the beginning of his book. But so many of you have pretended yourselves dream interpreters and inserted yourselves in, pulling and creating so many doctrines contrary to that which Jesus Christ Himself taught. undecided undecided
Yea, mo gbe! Which Bible you dey read? Is it not Clearly written at the beginning "The Revelation" (1), ...Shew (or Show) unto his servants (us) things Which MUST (MUUSST) SHORTLY COME TO PASS (e Must happen) (2), ... SENT and SIGNIFIED (SIGNED) It By His ANGEL, (3) Unto, Servant John? (4). Sent, Signed and Delivered!

Servant John himself, Told us with his own Mouth that in the beginning of Revelation 1 verse 10 that "he (John) was in the Spirit...", Not Sleeping oh, were dreams live.

I know you saw all these, but instead of you to search diligently on how you can obtain Eternal Life so that you can Overcome this world, you rather choose to make your own desire, to become your goal, even though you have No Power to Make Your Desire, Come to Pass.

Is it not Easier to Obey, than to Exercise Powerless Power?

Well it is your own bed, you shall Surely lie on it!

Maybe I didn’t express it well.

We Saved by the Holy Spirit. But it’s possible to be saved and not be filled with power and gifts . When a man received the in filling of the same Holy Spirit that when ability and enduement comes . As you said there is only one Holy Spirit but two exoeriences
Is it not written- 4 "There is One body, and One Spirit, even as ye are called in One hope of your calling;

5 One Lord, One faith, One baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Everything is One, even the experiences you claim, are all One.

But I'll drop it!

Likely you didn't get my question well as it seems you aren't answering it. Let me state it again.

This is based on your first post that the holy spirit comes after am acceptable baptism. That is the cleaning of one's sins according to your word.

So, I asked, since the Holy is not responsible for the cleaning of man's sin or acceptable baptism, who does the baptism, who is responsible to cleaning (baptism) a sinner from his sin. That is the question.

That is what I desire to know.
Ok. I did not say "Holy Spirit is not responsible for the cleaning of man's sin" neither do I say that "the Holy Spirit is Responsible".

So therefore, who is responsible? By the Authorities of Simon vs Peter in Acts I cited above, Paul in the Corinthians I cited and Psalms 51:17, Luke 7: 37/38, it is you, the offender or offendor or the sinner who does the cleaning of yourself, for yourself!

I may have to correct the bold. Every bible study and every bible student has a theology.
And here is my concern, I do not have a theology, I only merely study my Creator, the Lord, my God!

hoopernikao:
Theology means study of God and by extension his work and ways.

So, saying theology isn't a bad word. It is what we do daily. Saying you should study your theology of a topic simply means you study your that concept as related to God's knowledge.
That was why I was wary of that word. I do not own theology, I am only studying to acquire how to Be like my God and Do what He tells me to do, in Precision.

Nothing in my study or the knowledge I acquire is mine.

hoopernikao:
I won't go in the direction of tongues as that isn't necessary here. There are detailed work and discussions on Nairaland that can give you critical view of what you wrote and hold concerning that. But like I said, try check again your theology of such concept very well.
Thank you for dropping it, because I really do not wish to enter into it at all.

Hi, I haven’t read the story of the woman killing her husband. My intro was intended to highlight that there are certain concessions that a just judge should have towards children and the vulnerable. It’s possible that the child killed her assailant in self defense; but it is highly unlikely that the murder of the rapist was premeditated especially if that was the first time he tried to defile the minor.

When adults are involved in a crime, then the complexities of the human mind (the type not found in children) are taken into consideration; hence, motive is a very important course during investigation.

All righteous laws are designed to defend the defendant (the accused) until all evidence proves the guilt of the defendant. When the defendant is a child, the law is “tender“, the best interest of the child is considered, even when a sentence pronounced. Even if a child is sentenced to the lake of fire, God in His infinite mercy and kindness wouldn’t let the child stay past a second because a child is a child.

You said, “all similar cases must follow the same path”; I’m not a lawyer but from the little I know, all cases that have similar idiosyncrasies usually have the same judgement; however, all cases are treated based on their peculiarities. If the scripture that says, “That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun”, is correct, then judges would have easy judgements each day at the court; but that doesn’t happen, do they? Cases with similar patterns are usually few and far between.
You speak well, yet you are not a lawyer, can I presume the learner of law at Bwari or Enugu?

My second question your Just Judge Analysis, where did you get that from?

Are you a Paulinus? cheesy

Yes, every case is peculiar but I Hate the Judgements that come out from this shit Courts, just look at the Orji Uzor Kalu's case, the supreme Court governor shit, men these judges just don't know what it means to be a judge!
