Check for reviews on the net. That's how you know if you're really serious. If you want to go further, do a whois on the host's primary domain, get the nameservers, if the nameservers belong to another host company, its very likely the "host" you are checking out is a reseller and a reseller is only as good as his upstream provider so get reviews of the upstream provider. If the nameservers are unique to the host you are checking out(it may still be a reseller with personalised nameservers), do a reverse dns lookup on the IP address(es) of the nameservers and get other sites on the same server. Test those sites for speed and other things and make your choice. You can also trace the IP address to the upstream providers/datacenter of the host and get to know how good they are. That's how you know, its not to come here and post all sorts of links to all sorts of "hosts". Webhosting business in Nigeria is turning to the crayfish webdesign business in Nigeria. People will just wake up and jump into the hosting fire and not do things well thereby causing problems for the entire industry in the country. Imagine someone wanting to come to my house and office to make sure I'm real and not virtual like his previous host. What's next? I should take the person to UK and Germany to see my Dedicated servers in the Datacenter? Use a site like whoishostingthis.com to get some meta data about the host service provider. |
