Good morning House.

Please I need help with recommendations on tested and trusted contacts who can help ship a few clothing items to my family in Lagos from the UK. I am in London presently. I read about mamatukwas and I have tried reaching out with an email but I am yet to get any response.

Hello wonderful People.

Please I need guidance for a Nigerian Chartered Accountant who will be coming to work in the UK, wife is a health worker who already secured a job and resides in the UK.

1. What are the necessary courses or exams he needs to take for a good career start,

2. what are his chances of moving his career ahead in the UK.

3. Is there a support group or social media threads he can follow for proper guidance and mentorship.

Thank you.
1. I am guessing you are an ICAN member. Fortunately, in the big 4, ICAN is recognised. I am not sure of other companies in the industry cos I am new here too. But I will strongly recommend you use ICAN-ICAEW pathway program to get ICAEW to brighten your chances (I am doing that too). at least, it does not require any exams written under a controlled environment.

2. See number one.

3. I don't know

pls how much in naira did you pay and which ATM card did you used cos I have tried access and zenith , it's not going through
I used my standard chartered naira card and N30,574 was deducted from my account. Like someone mentioned, you should be able to use paga. I don't know how to go about that though.

This one wey u wan quick quick, unbox/unleash credit card so..... No be palliative money o.......... cheesy
Hahaha. I know. My job will require I incur some work related expenses which would be reimbursed. These expenses can be a bit much at times. So I would like a card to separate personal expenses from work related ones while boosting credit score. My office has an arrangement of that nature but it won't help my credit score matter.

Pls , who knows how I can opt out of user pay fee of UK visa, is it compulsory or I mistakenly selected it? Because the charges is from UK not tls, I should be able to opt out of it, if you know to opt out kind let me know
It is compulsory I think. I went for my biometrics at VI too. Whether it is applicable for Ikeja is what I don't know. For you to get to this point, I guess you can't go back to select Ikeja.

Good day everyone. I am a Tier 2 holder who just arrived in the UK 2 weeks ago. Is it possible for newbies like myself to apply for a credit card? If yes or no, When ready, which credit card can you recommend? Thanks.

This place is a circus guys, currently at Ikoyi Passport Office, story loading. grin grin
I was at Ikoyi also today even as early as 8am. The place was a war zone. To get my 3 kids to capture was war. Even my wife that went for collection could not pick up. The kept bringing out passports in small batches and it got to a point the whole place became rowdy. Crowd everywhere. Though someone mentioned a combination of factors such as today being a Friday, yesterday being a public holiday and the backlog of 32 pages applications may have caused it. We hope it would ease a bit next week.

i'm also confused
did you mean to type 25k not 15k?

because i know the price most people pay for passport is usually 25k
Festac is still doing the old standard passport and not the new enhanced e-passport. The new enhanced e-passport is obviously more expensive, the reason for the disparity in price. Also, I think only Ikoyi office in Lagos produces the new enhanced e-passport. The new enhanced requires NIN while the old one does not.

Now is more than 15working days.
Send UKVI an email. The earlier the better considering its even Tier 2

Sanwo-olu is just completing Ambode's second term, after which he will go and sleep

I think i have to agree with this. Sanwo is completing Ambode's term being a Christian while Hamzat would take over. Let's remember Hamzat previously had a shot on the governorship position during the primaries that produced Ambode.

Bro its was cleared to zero...what u quoted was domestic debt.not external.. In a debt buy back ..u try to get d best deal cuz naija really sacrifice, doling out 12billion at a go!
Going by the documents I sighted from the DMO website on the Paris club loan, I noted $6.2billion was what was actually paid. Also, Paris club was not the only source of Nigeria's external debts. So, we may have settled the Paris club loan which was the most significant, but others were not settled.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Was Not Completely Debt Free In 2007, As Claimed By Atiku Abubakar by dubaiprince: 7:48am On Oct 04, 2020
Inasmuch as I don't support Atiku, as accountants, we were aware that the external debts was $3.6bn as at 2007 when Obj left. The amount was not seen as material given the size of Nigeria, ability to pay and the huge debt burden before then.

Hello everyone!
I just want to find out if DMC now sends refusal emails to every unsuccessful applicant or just some handpicked ones. My friend received a refusal email from DMC last week and then an email from TSL asking him to come to collect his passport. But, this afternoon, I only received a mail from TSL informing me that my passport is ready for collection (I didn't receive a refusal email prior to that). Does this indicate a success?
BIOMETRICS DATE: 15 SEPT
VISA TYPE: VISIT
Stay positive, the fact that you did not get a refusal mail has even increased the probability that your application was successful. At which VAC did you have your biometrics done?

Please what card did you use. (Bank name and of it was MasterCard or verve). Thank you
I loaded my paga e-wallet by transferring from my bank account using internet banking (you can use mobile app too). Then went to the UK visa page for payment. I then selected paga, it took me to my paga account where i logged in and paid. You need to have a paga account.
PoliticsRe: Edo Election: Excitement Galore At PDP Situation Room In Benin by dubaiprince: 12:21pm On Sep 20, 2020
While I agree with some of your comments, the point is Ambode should have at least tried. Even without is decamping, he was still chased by EFCC which people loyal to him rejected.

I agree with you 100% that he would not have won either ways but he would have made a statement cos winning margin would have been lower which would put the state in a better psychological stead going into 2023.

Built2last:
Those who are mocking ex Lagos Governor - Akinwunmi Ambode - on the basis of the Edo election are missing the point.

First, the Edo governorship election was more of a plebiscite on Adams Oshiomole than a contest between the PDP governor Godwin Obaseki and the APC Pastor Ize Iyanmu. So in essence, this isn't Obaseki defeating Iyanmu. This is Edo people retiring the former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole for his overbearing god father status. In fact, there is a sense in which it can be argued that the APC candidate could have won more votes if not for the liability that Adams brought to his campaign. When you add that ill-adviced video by Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), you would understand that the duo of Oshiomole and the Lagos BAT brought nothing but 'minus' to the APC candidate. That video of a man who foisted a semi-literate 16th century-brained coup plotter on a 21st century 'nation' only to turn around to address himself as "the leader of all democrats" rankled so many people and helped cement the resolve of Edo people against the APC.

So in a nutshell, what Edo people have shown is that no force, no matter how powerful can undermine the resolve of a determined people.

Lagos State under Ambode was an entirely different case because for one, it's always difficult, if not impossible, to rescue slaves who see their chains as some beautiful bracelet. The Lagos electorates, with the exception of a few, are quite in love with one man determining their fate. Or so it would seem. So there was very little an Ambode could have done without the people. Not with Tinubu's strong hold on all the party structure in the state, Asorock support as well as a well oiled non-state actor such as the Lagos State Road Transport Union ever ready to act as his stand-by instrument of violence each time the need arises. Or why do you think the road transport union in Lagos is treated as the 4th arm of govt? Who do you think flew the union leader MC Oluomo abroad for treatment after he was wounded in a pre-election clash in the run-up to the 2019 poll?

To uproot Tinubu from Lagos will require a combination of factors including federal might. This might just happen in 2023 if the signs are anything to go by.

But for now, Edo is indeed not Lagos. Just as Lagos is certainly not Edo.

I want to believe they are simply letting you know before hand that the processing of your application may not be completed within the standard 15 working days. Meaning you should not panic that work is ongoing on your application. When and where did you do your biometrics?

Do you fund the Paga account or the app can be linked to to your personal commercial bank account?
It's possible to do either of the two but I will recommend you funding your paga account from your commercial bank account by simply using your bank's mobile app or internet banking to transfer funds to paga using your paga account number which would be created when you open your paga account. Paga account number works like your usual NuBan 10 digits.

Good day all.

Please I’m having trouble paying for my UK visa fee. I keep getting this error message and I have more than enough funds in the account. I’ve even tried several banks(FCMB , Stanbic, GTB) still same issue. Any advice please? It’s urgent
I will strongly recommend paga. I paid my IHS and visa fee yesterday using it. By my calculation, the exchange rate used was 383 naira to 1 dollar. This is the cheapest around. When you get to the payment page, just select visa and click the back button, you will see paga verve, you would also see paga, select paga you will then login with your paga credentials (I would advice you open a paga account, it operates just like a normal savings account) and simply use a click to pay.

Good afternoon to the gurus in the house.

Please I got a worrisome email from UKVI today.

Please can someone tell me what this means and it's implications.
I feel they are just trying to let you know the visa application will take beyond 15 days due to checks taking longer than usual. A colleague of mine got a similar mail and I think he got his visa after 20 days. Be hopeful.
