Pavore9:The reason we find made in Sierra Leone palm oil, grown in Tanzania pepper, grown in Cameroon ugwu, made in Ghana poundo, Garri, beans etc. in afro stores in the UK. Smh! Nigeria is not ready. |
Special status my foot. I have always said it will get to a point government at all levels will embezzle and there would be nothing left to steal. They are edging closer. They are embezzling loans now with no tangible thing to show since oil money no dey enough to chop again. Now clamouring for special status. Una go blow grammar tire |
To think I thought about this topic a few days ago. My experience working in the UK have made me understand the following about hourly pay system. 1. It increases productivity. Workers tend to churn out more when they have pre determined reasonable hours rather than been tied to the conventional contract where it states 8 to 5 on your letter but in real sense people work from 8am to Late. 2. It gives workers opportunity to work with multiple employers which should translate to more money rather than being tied to one employer all in the name of contract, if you loose a job, you can manage with the other pending when another comes. 3. It helps companies plan their labour costs better in relation to output. It leads to labour cost efficiency rather than laying off staff due to redundancy and lack of proper planning. 4. Work will become more flexible. The employer tells employee the maximum hours available for the week or month and employee agree his/her availability. However, for this to work, it comes with a lot of cost to the masses as there would need to be a reasonable minimum hourly wage which my by calculation based on 18k is about N110/hr which is very poor. Increasing it will mean increase in cost of all services in the country as companies would need revenue to meet the cost. Also, people will need to be truthful in clocking in and out. Some companies still do manual signing in and out in the UK but be sure it would be abused in Naija especially in government establishments. |
efzbah:Congratulations. Happy to read this! |
veleta:from my understanding, you simply book a test with any of the recognised labs on the labs website or via any other method acceptable by the chosen lab (my wife used synlab), I don’t know of any other payment on Ncdc website |
efzbah:There are two ways. Either sign electronically and send to your partner to print out and sign or you print out, sign and send to your partner via courier. In my own case I went with the first option. That is the more efficient and cost effective option too. |
rabola1:Maximum allowance for each bag is 23kg. You are not allowed to combine allowances. |
Kennstin:Thanks a lot |
Hello everyone, My wife would be travelling to the UK next week. Please can someone recommend a lab in lagos around Ikeja where she can get the covid test done? I am thinking of Synlab but I am not too sure. Thanks. |
Nchabuomo:You are right actually |
DELSEY:Not a problem sir |
Xeedorf:For tier two visa, I submitted the following for the kids. 1. Birth certificate (very important) 2. Consent letter (very important) 3. BRP (Very important). 4. The passport data page of my child (Very important). 5. My own passport data page and visa page (Very important). 6. The visa application form. 7. Some pictures of the child (like 10 is enough) 8. Immunization card. 9. My Certificate of Sponsorship (very important). 10. Letter from my employer certifying my maintenance. (my employer is A rated though and maintenance was certified on my CoS, so I did not need to submit this but I just did) 11. My bank statement (I did not need to submit this as well because my sponsor is A rated but just did). 12. Tuberculosis test certificate (Very Important) For my wife, I submitted what I listed above except immunization card, birth certificate and consent letter. I added marriage certificate, reference letter from the bank showing we operate a joint account and some pictures. It is advisable to upload proof of relationship as much as you can. Please visit https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/your-partner-and-children for more guidance |
rabola1:Apologies. been busy all day. I just attached a snip of the consent letter I submitted during the visa application. please do let me know if you cant see it. I have not posted a document on Nairaland before

Iruosonobrugwhe:You don't need to go as far as mentioning your plan to move to a bigger apartment in the consent letter. You also do not need to state you currently stay in a shared apartment. Just put the address you are living currently. I am not sure anyone will come and confirm if accomodation status. I applied for visa for my wife and 3 kids last month and they all got it within 9 workings days (standard application) while still staying in a shared apartment. I just started looking for a bigger apartment. I am on a tier 2 visa. |
bivoprad:Visa Application Form |
annylove1:Also confirm the day you actually selected is not a day available for only premium. times available for regular appointments are normally white in colour while those shaded grey are for premium appointments. |
annylove1:Not sure it is right to select self service and request for assisted scanning at the same time. They do not match. Self service is for those that wish to upload their documents on the TLS site. I guess this is the issue. |
Clubs now seeing their former players / club legends as cheaper alternatives for coaching roles. It must have cost Tottenham a lot to hire mourinho and even much more to fire him. |
tpain22:I will answer the ones I am sure of. None of you needs yellow fever vaccination (yellow card) to come into the UK. Children below 11 years are exempt from covid tests. |
Momakay:I guess this should be the occupational code for the main applicant. Not sure the dependant has a COS in his/her name which is even the major document on which Tier 2 Visa is based. |
Osed:Some of us experienced the same as well. Arrived November 11 and mine was only ready for pickup on the 19th of February 2021. Have you notified the home office by reporting online on https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/collect ? If No, please do so ONCE and wait for Home Office response within 20 working days. Travelling now is not encouraged. If you need to travel, please be sure it is for something urgent as you will need to apply for a BRP replacement visa from where you are travelling to which might take 3 weeks to get and costs 154 pounds. All the info you need is on that gov.uk page I shared. |
ricaabrams:I am currently facing the same issue. Been here since November. You just have to be patient. Use the reporting functionality on the website and wait for 20 working days. You can then call UKVI after those 20 working days if you do not get any response. Don't be tempted to use the reporting tool multiple times as your initial reporting would be wiped off and the 20 working days will start counting all over. This I was told when I called UKVI |
Mamatukwas:What of customers? Lol. Merry Christmas |
peterveo:I am experiencing something similar. I am a Tier 2 holder and I arrived in November. I have been to the post office twice (last time was last week) but my BRP was not there. I have also used the report function twice on gov.uk but got no response. Shey you still even got response that it has not been produced due to technical issues. I learnt there could be exceptional cases where BRP may have delays. I am sure they will produce it. Keep following up with Home office. I know of someone that arrived in September and his BRP was not issued till December. He was just checking the post office till he got it. I have resolved not to even check again till next month but I will keep following up by using the report functionality and escalate by sending an email to home office. I understand your frustration that you can't do some settling in stuff but I opened a monzo account with just my passport and I think Barclays accept it too. The major issue there is that once your vignette expires and your brp is still not out, I am not sure it is advisable for you to travel out of UK. |
I am sorry but the reasons the OP gave are not logical (it is clearly stated that it is your opinion tho). In my own opinion, I will use UK as an example. I was taking home about 536,000 monthly with a wife and 3 kids. The money was just okay for us to live conviently I.e pay rent, school fees, eat and maintain the car. No spare money to save to even continue with my building project and I learnt things are even worse now due to inflation. I moved to the UK alone last month and even though my room is about 800 pounds a month, i am still even doing what I was doing back home in a better way and still saving about 1500 pounds a month. Hoping my wife and kids join me soon. though my rent will increase cos I will need to move to a bigger apartment but I will no longer pay school fees for a while and I can still save1000. Relatively, basic things are affordable and accessible compared to the minimum wage in developed countries. You are right with things like loneliness but I have come to realise that our social life in Nigeria make us spend money on unwarranted things. My opinion. |
I am not sure a UK bank will close an account without any reason. The reason might be stupid and unjust tho. The best way to mitigate it is to have a minimum of 2 bank accounts so that one won't be stranded. Because in most cases, funds are refunded. |
Swiftlee:Calm... local man dey catch cold sha |
Swiftlee:E14 |
giselle237:Thanks a lot |
Good afternoon everyone, I am a Tier 2 holder working on bringing my wife and kids to join me in the UK For those who have applied for tier 2 dependant visa recently, I am aware TB test, marriage certificate, birth certificate, CoS, POF are the major requirements on gov.uk. ordinarily, i know they might need other evidence of relationship such as pictures, joint account, immunization card etc. All of which I have. What other items can my dependants submit to boost their chances of approval? Also, is Monzo Bank statement acceptable to show POF? This is the only account I have in the UK. Wanted to send the money to the joint account but this one exchange rate is doing, anything can happen in 90 days. |

Moriyadisa:This means 8am and 3pm are the times available on that day |
