The days of high mortality and morbidity associated with malaria may soon be a thing of the past if feelers from the World Health Organization (WHO) are proven right. The WHO announced that a malaria vaccine RTS,S/AS01(RTS,S), developed by GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals (GSK) and PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI) with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with some African research centers. In clinical trials,RTS,S showed promise against Plasmodium Falciparum strain of malaria, which is most prevalent in Africa and accounts for the highest malaria mortality rates globally. However, it is inefficient against the Plasmodium Vivax strain of malaria which is the most common strain of malaria in countries outside Africa. Policy makers have suggested that be vaccine be used as an adjunct to already proven malaria preventive, diagnostic and treatment interventions. This breakthrough is really significant as it is the first malaria vaccine to gain a positive scientific option by the European Medicines Agency. Pilot trials are scheduled to commence in selected African countries in 2018. Would you take this vaccine? Don't forget to check out my signature ![]() |

It's probably a benign growth that can be excised via a lumpectomy which is an out patient surgery. But have her checked out by a medical professionly first. |
Ireland presents a unique opportunity for international nurses to seek and gain registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. Currently there are approximately sixty five thousand Nurses on the register which is inadequate to meet the nursing needs of the country. Applicants who meet registration criteria are issued with work visas and companies sponsor their relocation costs and also provide initial accommodation until the person settles. Traveling with your dependents is also supported. To find out more about the overseas nursing process and English language requirement, checkout my signature. Opportunities abound for Nigerian nurses to take advantage of to migrate to the United Kingdom, however most Nigeria nurses are most often laid back on the issue of migration, as they always expect some family member or friend to come “take them” out of the country. The truth is that opportunities abound for nurses to migrate to different parts of the developed world than any other profession. The Indians and the Filipinos have grabbed the opportunities with both hands and I would like to see more Nigerian nurses do same. The first step towards registering in the UK is to sit for the IELTS English test which can be taken in Nigeria and make at least 7 in the four testing bands. Also, combining results not less than six months is now accepted. The test is nothing technical as it only assesses your ability to communicate in English. As English is our official language and Nigerians are taught from Nursery to University in English, this should not be a problem. Below is a screen shot of the first and only attempt at the test. [img][/img] Secondly, one would be required to sit a computer based test (CBT), which is also not difficult and can be taken in centers in Nigeria. More information about the test can be seen here Having successfully taken the computer based test, the final test can only be taken within the UK and one would require a certificate of sponsorship which many organizations are very willing to give in order to apply for a work visa to migrate to the UK. However, I would advice that people get sponsorships from hospitals and not hospices, because they will gain the experience they need to successfully take the final test in a hospital setting. Anyone who has successfully completed the CBT and would like a sponsor may drop me a mail and I may be able to assist where I can. So my naija nurses, it’s time to plant your feet firmly on the ground and grab this opportunity with both hands. I know most people may say they don’t like UK, but the truth is that it’s a million times better than practicing in Nigeria and it’s much easier to move to wherever you may want from the UK. delishpot:That may not necessarily be true as i know a thousand and one of nurses who trained in schools of nursing that are angels in human flesh. |
REASONS WHY SCHOOLS OF NURSING SHOULD BE ABOLISHED IN NIGERIA. Over the years the Nursing profession in Nigeria has remained stagnant despite the recorded growth and progress of nursing in other climes. This is mostly due to the lack of vision on the part of the nursing administrators in the country and ignorance on the part of potential nurses. Schools of nursing have continued to operate because of the selfish interest of its operators and complacency of those who are tasked with nursing administration in the country, as they capitalize on the ignorance of many. Firstly, schools of nursing are a waste of precious time and financial resources. Surprisingly, most folks don’t realize that schools of nursing are much expensive compared to Universities; this is especially so for the mission schools of nursing, where people pay as much as two hundred thousand naira per annum, this is not inclusive of numerous other fees that are bound to come up within the year. Regretfully, after paying huge sums of money for a three year program, one ends up coming out with a diploma. To make matters worse, one would require an additional four years to upgrade from a diploma to degree, which sums up to a total of seven years. This to any rational mind is a senseless waste of resources. Another fallacy is the notion that schools of nursing trained nurses are better off practical wise than their university trained counterparts. This notion is not only wrong but also misleading. The truth is that nursing is a profession where you learn on the job and although sound education is important, it is not always reflective of good practice. The only way out of this situation is for the nursing and midwifery council to stipulate a B.Sc. as the minimum registration qualification and making it mandatory for schools of nursing to be affiliated with universities or risk losing their accreditation, that is if they must continue to operate. Information is power, so spread the word to discourage school of nursing education. How do you the way forward for nursing in Nigeria? drop your comments below. http://nurseopportunities..com/2016/12/reasons-whyschools-of-nursing-should-be.html

Several hospital wards across the UK are shutting down due to shortage of nurses. Hospitals such as United Linconshire hospital Trust, Bradford royal infirmary, Royal wolverhampton NHS Trust are only a fraction of hospitals that have had to shut some units as a fallout of nurse shortage. My question is when will nigerian nurses start taking advantage of these opportunities? http://nurseopportunities..com

My story sounds more like fiction. I walked into a company to enquirer about an opening. I met with the manager who conducted an interview immediately and offered me the job. I was later given application forms on my way home to fill and scan them back in addition to my certificates . Fiction right? I call it Grace. |

OneangleFarms:You have a very valid point. |
It's good and bad. Good in the sense that it makes you realize who she really is and bad in the sense that you will be in emotional trauma. I was able to spy on her fone directly from my laptop and it gave me sleepless nights. I finally ended the relationship and the spying, only then did I regain my senses and health. So in summary, what you don't know won't kill you, but if you decide to look, you may see more than you were expecting to see. |

Both are genuine, the company only made some changes to the can, although the old stock is still in circulation.

What you experienced was opoid intoxication, which is dangerous on its own not to mention mixing it with alcohol. Alcohol and opioids are a BIG NO NO. The best thing that has happened to me so far in life was the day I decided to quit philosophy in the university for a school of nursing. Actually what intrigued me was the ratio of males to females., hehehehehehe, even before I start I don allocate like 50 to myself. Well studying nursing paid and I'm forever grateful to God. |
Zico5:I still insist that you get your facts right as your are misleading people. I trained as a nurse in Nigeria but currently practicing in the west so when I say you need to get your facts right, there is substance to it. It's obvious some of your statement, especially concerning automatic license to work as a nurse is based on inference. |
