I really love this, Infact, the entire SS/SE should join in this rally. Maybe, just maybe some of these idiotic politicians against GEJ's administeration will come to their senses. People who should have been nothing but cattle rearers and peasant farmers right now are busy abusing the priviledge afforded to them and at the same time, subjecting the true owners of oil to abject poverty. Why should our President lack basic things like shoes or good for in his life? And you'll hear slowpokes refering to him as a fisherman. People from wastelands around Nigeria were busy protesting about other peoples resources in the name of occupy Nigeria. Let everyone occupy their own resource from now on. BTW, Why should GEJ go for just one term? Abeg we need you there for at least 12 years because if it goes back to north, it may not return until Jesus comes back. |
chmod777:And that is the capital problem in Nigeria- Illiteracy and half education. They know little and make the most noise. |
76% of Nigerians means majority and that means that this country has a long way to go in all honesty. American dung will even be light years away and we really have a bleak future as a Nation. A Nation that cannot trust and cooperate with their rightfuly elected president, not ready to do anything for their nation but expect miracles from one man. A very clueless majority that doesn't think of their future. A nation that pulls in a thousand and one directions, killing themselves, holding grudges against themselves. Most especially, an uneducated majority in this millenium. Our national future is doomed as it stands and some will be expecting miracles. |
Igbos are being targeted and killed in numbers in the north. Northern apologists on nairaland are on denial mode whereas, in reality, the northerners themselves are doing nothing to stop this evil happening in their region, neither do they seem concerned. Blame GEJ all you want but this is a country comprising of a stupid/dumb majority and a very mad and dangerous majority originating from the north. GEJ cannot do anything all by himself if the majority wont support or help him or at least play their designated roles in the polity of the nation without religious or sectarian bias. I also blame igbos for not understanding the mindset of the various ethnicities in the country. How do you explain a tribe who supposedly believes in "one Nigeria" but do bussiness in other states without setting up permanent structures. That alone tells me who believes more in this "one Nigeria". Just like Ojukwu noted 4 months into the civil war, that hausas in general dislikes any other ethnicity outside theirs. I've also seen that in their heart of hearts, the dislike the igbos more (maybe due to christian religion). I think all they (northerners) are interested in is the oil from the other part of the country and nothing else. They are apparently the most intolerant and most wicked ethnicity in this country and the unity and division of this country lies solely in their hands. |
I'm in support of this subsidy removal. I also agree that Nigeria should not be compared with the UKs and the US because for instance, while these countries have welfare packages for the citizens, it also places tax on almost every goods and services. In Nigeria, the proportion of tax payers to tax evaders is nothing to write home about. We can't have it both ways but Nigerians want to eat their cakes and have at the same time. The main problem i see in this whole issue is lack of trust and enlightenment on the part of the public concerning the subsidy removal. I'm of the opinion that we should judge this administeration at the end of it and not at the begining or middle because i believe every reasonable government should have targets tailored around it's tenure. No pain No gain. |
thehomer:I can foresee you making less sense if you continue sounding like this. I presume you are more intelligent than this and that you can do better for now, dublinkmy6: |
opiacino:Mr "white" man, it is clear God created man and equiped him with the tools and intelligence to have dominion over the EARTH and every thing in it, and while some are making good use of these tools, others on the other hand, are misusing them. But that is what makes the world go round init? Imagine a world where everyone is as wise as each other with equal capabilities, boring and all that, Actually, we humans pray to God to supplement our inadequacies since we accept we are limited beings, and for those of us who have encountered God in his power and might will testify that he has actually come to our aid when we needed him, therefore we know he exists because we belived and he confirmed his existence to us. But as you infered from your post, it is true that some people don't know their boundaries so as to know when to use their already God given resources and when to solicit for supernatural help from God. Also, atheists don't know the boundaries between science and the creator of all scciences. |
claremont:Always conveninient to select only a portion of a whole post and reply it if it suits your agenda, but what about proving to the whole of nairaland that dreams, which we all experience, does not exist or maybe it is just an illusion and means nothing and has no effect whatsoever on the physical life- all just because it can't be proven by a limited, generally inconclusive, and finite science? |
I think atheism or whatever is the worst form of foolishness and ignorance. Anyone who does not believe that there is a supernatural being (God), should also not believe in dreams, spirits, supernatural powers - and these are things we experience as human beings but can't also be proven scientifically. No matter how intelligent we as human beings think we are, we know we are lesser and finite, limited beings living in a physical but lesser realms of an infinite space. |
Just like i was fed with it this morning. It doesn't make any form of sense for me. A child is a product of a unique father and a unique mother, and the child can only demonstrate xteristics resulting from deposits of traits and ubpringing invested into the child largely by the parents. Comparing your child to another child of different parentage and upbringing begs of hypocrisy. |
codeworks:You are rigth, they also seem not to like people from other tribes especially igbos and hausas. You may argue that those of them in the villages cannot speak anything aside from yoruba language, so you cannot blame those if they speak it in your presence. But i work with alot of the learned ones and they love speaking it among themselves even if you are among them and don't understand the language. I don't have problems with that, but it is funny when you speak your own native language among them and you see them complaining about it. They are also number one at eye service |
EVERY tribe respects their elders. I can understand why ppl vote for the yorubas. Thhey POSTRATE, which is quite unique to them as a CULTURE. Because they've been brought up to bow and postrate does not, in any phoking way, mean that they have more respect than the other guy who have been brought up to stand and greet. It's just a difference in culture and just as much as the yoruba elders are happy with their bowing/kneeling sons and daughters, so also the igbo elders are equally happy with childrens mode of greeting they way their culture allows them to. By the way, what most of us are refering to on this thread is GREETING STYLE and it is different from RESPECT. Respect is a personal thing and the best way of judging which tribe respects more is to notice how they relate to their age mates and even juniors. This will tell you more about the people and their ideology. To me, if you want to respect me, do it in my absence then one day i will come to know about your attitude in my absence and i will value you more than the man who does eye service in my presence then goes ahead to abuse/disrespects me in my absence. |
Benstino:And you also know that it was said "Give and it shall be given unto you" isn't it? Now, from this ur logic we can deduce that we should have faith before we give or else we will not receive and we may even lose the one we already have? Na waa o! Sum ppl go write new millenium bible 4 this nairaland o! Please it is not by force to answer my queshon. At least, i was born a christian so i know basic christian teachings and please don't tell me i had doubts before paying the tithe since you don't know me let alone my heart. |
@Benstino, How did my post suggest i had doubt in mind about the blessings of thithing, or the paying of tithe? You would do well to point out where i suggested or said it. Moreso, if God asked us to test him in paying it, does it matter whether you have doubts or not? At least you don't need to "test" something if you know and have complete faith that it will work out. Also, if God asks us to test him in paying tithe, isn't the onus on God himself to proove his word by blessing us after paying it, thereby confirming his word. As much as i know, "testing" God is quite different from "having faith" in God. So i don't think your answer is valid in my case- at least not the first part of it. The devil's hand is definitly in it but what actually happened as a whole is what i find puzzling and i'm unable to comprehend. |
This is an interesting topic. However, i never paid my thite for many years since i started working as a young man. But one day i decided i would start to pay my thite from that month onwards. So, that particular morning i submited my thite for the ministry use (my first time). But to my surprise, after walking 10 - 15mins from my church i was surrounded by bad boys and had my phone taken away from me. Till this day, i have been afraid of paying tithe again. Recently, a co-worker had an almost similar story to mine and her phone was stolen the same day she paid her tithe. I'm still searching for the possible cause of this phenomenon. |
DonPizzaro:END OF DISCUSSION |
Walala:It all depends on the particular dialect of igbo language you are listening to at one time and the vocal chords of whoever is speaking it. The language can sound so sexy especially the central igbo if spoken with a nice voice. |
I'm an igbo guy born and brought up in lagos. We communicate with 80% igbo and 20% pidgin at home. Individualy, I can speak good English language and at the same time, i understand yoruba very well and speak it sometimes when i REALLY need to speak it. I am not fluent in igbo language like my brodas born and brought up in the SE but i am better than them because i can speak pidgin, good English & yoruba in addition to basic igbo language. I work in a yoruba establishment and i know these yoruba ppl very well. Most of them are very fluent in yoruba language and pidgin but have murderous English (some don't even speak it at all). It is always fun when you can speak your language and that of other tribes because it can be vey useful to the individual - it means you can interact with a wide variety of ppl. To the yorubas trying to cry more than the bereaved, how hypocritic can they be? where i work they form the majority, and i can tell you that they always feel bad whenever the igbo language is being spoken in their company. They feel so insecure when two igbo ppl in their company speak the igbo language. For those judging we, the igbo lagos brought ups, if you were in our shoes, you wont be different from us either so don't try to be the good guy here. In all i enjoy being able to understand yoruba language and Igbo language because i can never be an odd-man-out in the midst of these two tribes. |
I appreciate replies from u guys, but the biggest passport i have now is 512 x 528 in dimensions (took the whole of yesterday + N400 to get that size) with a file size of 45.6KB, whereas, the specified file size is 24KB. Can i successfully work with that or do i need to retake another passport photo? |
How did you guys upload your passports? I've taken two sets of passports and spent up to N600 in the proccess but the system still rejected all my passports. It seems our photographers find it difficult to arrive at the specified size and dimensions of this year's passport photograph requirements. The site also stated they don't want doctored photographs. What is the possible solutuon here and how does one cross this hurdle?? |
adconline:Confirmed!!! |
Be careful who u disclose personal information to. Some close african relatives want to know whats happening in ur life and what ur future plans are not because they love you but because they have diabolic motives against you. Some will do anything to make sure you don't turn out to be better than them in life. But they can easily succeed if you are always ready to provide the needed information. |

And you would think it's teachings would be more universal or better than the new testament of the bible. So unreasonably primitive teachings for a relatively modern book. |
^^^… Is that ur final answer? |
I've noticed that muslims avoid to answer certain religious questions posed here on NL. Most questions from atheists tends to be anwered by christians using bible scriptures. Does it mean the Quran is incomplete or is it not just suitable to be used to answer some basic quetions of life? |
If this thread doesn't convert an atheist, i'm afraid nothing might ever change them. |
please ooo! wat i all this jealousy towards igbos that i perceive on NL all the time? |
I actually tot i was the only one having this problem. It's very embarrassing indeed. @OP, you beat me to this post coz i was thinking that other posters must have been doing something different and unique b4 posting./n/n |
agnesefe:Confam! i agree wit u bros |
@andromida, tnx so very much and God bless |
Iinteresting thread, some of the cause of the pronounciation problem is 1) most Nigerian schools don't teach phonetics & phonology. 2) Nigerians speak more vernacular and native language- English lang. comes last and it is only spoken when desperately needed. 3) Even during schooling hours, vernacular is still the predominant language. 4) Parents, teachers and most people around us speak bad English lang. coupled with very bad pronounciation. Okay then, let's assume that we manage to pick up one or two corrections in pronounciation from this thread (for example), try speaking it in the presence of your mates or those around you and notice their comments or the type of funny look you would get from them. The problem is now very chronic in 9japle), try speaking it in the presence of your mates or those around you and notice their comments or the type of funny look you would get from them.
