Omexonomy: One last kwestion.
Who are those that were suppose to be deported?
A. The hard working igbos who are husstling to make end, were arrested while on their way back from their various business place made to spent 9months in ikorodu forest b4 beee deported like sardines.
B. The lazy yaruba people who came from kwara and oyo to come and becom touts i.e agberos who beet up any body that refuse to part with their hard earn money and still recieve commendations from their APC GOVERNOS.
I keep telling you guys, if you will just refrain from mentioning us in vain you would save yourself a whipping.

A. a hard working Igbo is deported to go and make a living and contribute to the development of his fatherland.

B. a hard working Igbo is ordered killed at sight by his governor and his family and community lost a breadwinner and productive son.

Which is humane and which is barbaric out of the two?

Close your highway nose and use your Igbo to reason on this one.

It is the truth. Now, Igbos say they are Jews and that the word Hebrew was vulgarized then modified to become "Ibo". I dont know if thats true or not, but giving the benefit of doubt, Im expecting that they will begin to reconcile it from Ibo back into its original Hebrew, instead......they took it deeper into the pit and adopted it as "Igbo", making it more doubtful that they were Jews.
PoliticsRe: Ijo,edo, Yoruba, Igbo... And The Massacre Of Nations by DuduNegro: 7:58pm On Oct 21, 2013
I read the whole article.

I call it grasping at straws. Im not an anthropologist and neither a linguist but in the understanding of the core history and roots of Yoruba people I have deep and rooted understanding and knowledge.

All the ethnicities or people that share ancestry with Yoruba have a ruler-state society.

In other words, Yoruba emerged, as a specimen, out of a ruler-state in a Hamitic/Semitic origin, it migrated South and was a prototype for new settlements in the Negro's Sudan.

The Yoruba of antiquity and the Yoruba of today remain a city dweller and ruler-state.

The Ugbo people of Ife are not the Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria. The Ugbo of Ife are a people in Ondo state today.

All people with whom Yoruba share ancestry are city dwellers and dynastic rulers. These fall into three classes:

1. A commonwealth of Yoruba States
2. A proto-Yoruba kingdoms
3. A proto-Asara footprint

Igbos and Ijo do not fall into any of these three classes and must therefore be excluded as having commonality with Yoruba ancestry. If Igbo and Ijo are part of the migrants into the Sudan, then their footprints must be retraced via a different channel and one in which they serve as "true" specimen of descendency and origin.

The discussion earlier on about the position of Ilorin in the Noational Conference has ignited my patriotism.

In connection with the discussion on Kiriji War, Ife Bronze Arts and Yoruba Architecture, The History of Yoruba in Pictures, Yoruba Origin, History and Canaanland Connections and similar threads scattered about on Nairaland, I will be doing a historical to help understanding on the extent and reach of Yoruba land and civilization.

Not many Yorubas are aware that both Bariba (Borgu) and indeed Nupe (Tapa) both share cultural commonality with Yoruba than they do with Hausa or Fulani.

It says in this article that Ogun founded Saki. What does that mean? Why is Offa in Odu Ifa but Oyo is not?
PoliticsNational Conference - Commonwealth Of Yorubaland - #1 by DuduNegro(op): 3:37am On Oct 21, 2013
To begin with, Bada (1966) claimed that Ogun founded Saki on the orders of Namurudu the father of Oduduwa and the brother of the legendary Kistra who migrated from the East of Egypt to Borgu the Ibariba country.  Writing in Yoruba, the author also claimed that Kistra and his brother were then in the west of the Niger (Borgu) where they first settled and founded some towns in Ibariba namely Nikki and Bussa among others.  It was from this account that we learnt that Ogun embarked on a hunting expedition from Borgu to the Yoruba country and founded Saki.

However, there are some historical accounts that refuted Bada’s narratives regarding the activities of Kistra in Borgu prior to when Saki was founded.

Michael Crowther was of the opinion that Kistra never founded any town in Borgu. “Tradition has it that the Kistra party was welcomed by the indigenous inhabitants on the condition that they follow the latter’s funeral rights and respected their religion” (cited in Revolt in Bussa by Michael Crowther published by Faber and Faber London).   Hussaini Lafia seems to corroborate this fact in his book The Baatombu and their Culture where he had this to say:” The adventures of the Wassangari who were descendants of Kistra migration abandoned their own tongue and adopted Baatonum language.  They were believed to speak Nupe language before reaching Nikki Wenu” (p13). To Hussaaini Lafia the stronghold of the Kistra in Borgu might have been a tale spread by early writers to provide political justification for their royal patrons.

According to him the name Wassangari, which was a contraction of Hausa language ”Wa Ya San Garin Su” meaning “Who knows their town or home” and referred to as the Kistra people might be members of small waves of migrants entering western Sudan from the East in medieval times.  He therefore concluded that” the idea of common origin of the aristocratic ruling class of Borgu through Kistra is false… the people of Borgu considered the migration waves of eastern adventurers as factual but considered Kistra as mythical” (2004:21-25).  Richard Kuba and Mora Mohammed Inuwa cited in Husainni (2004) also dismissed Kistra’s legend and assert that: “If we accept the notion that Bussa was founded in the 10th century A.C. the idea of Kistra being in Bussa or any other place is a wishful thinking, because the last Kistra, Yazdegerd III was crushed by the forces of Islam in 651 A. C (seventh century) and in the 10th century A.C. when Bussa was founded, there was no Kistra in the world” (2004:17).

But in another vein, there are other primary sources that corroborated Bada’s account which are relevant here. This is contained in the work of Mohammed Damisa and Nze P. Nze co-authors of a book titled Traditional Treasures of Borgu. Secondly, Oderinde et al (2005) posits that “Kistra was a warrior who was said to have left Arabia after a religious conflict.  Kistra was said to have crossed the Sahara desert making stops at Borgu before crossing River Niger and settled in Bussa.  Kistra had three sons namely Woru, Sabi and Bio.  The sons were said to have founded the three principal towns of Borgu viz: Bussa, Nikki and Illo”. (The Trumpet, vol 1 no 9, 2005).  Although this account did not make any direct reference to Saki, it afforded us the opportunity to apply some deductive reasoning as to when Saki was probably founded.  Given that Bada (ibid) claimed that Borgu major towns of Bussa, Nikki and Illo were founded just about the same time as Saki, we could possibly infer that since Bussa was founded in the 10th century A.C. (Mora Mohammed Inuwa (1994) cited in Hussaaini Lafia (2004), Saki must have been founded possibly at the same time or thereabout.

We must not however shy away from some Bada’s narratives which had left us with more imponderables particularly as it regards Kistra’s activities in Borgu and by extension Ogun’s sojourn to Saki.  Writing in Yoruba (but translated into English here) he posits that: “The few people that Ogun met in Saki speak Yoruba and not Ibariba but were not called Yoruba before Oduduwa arrived the Yoruba country.  We did not know their name as at that time, we did not know the people that Ogun met except the Yoruba, but we knew he met the people who sold food to him and he Ogun sells meat to them in return being a hunter”  (1966:12).  The narrative raises some fundamental questions.  Who were the people that Ogun met in Saki?  Could Ogun have been the founder of the town if there were inhabitants already making a living as farmers?  How does this account fit into the divine role of Ogun in the creation story as contained in several books on Yoruba mythology?  It has to be noted at this point that the evaluative discourse of Bada’s account should not be presupposed as an affront to distort the universal truth that Ogun founded Saki.  Rather, my concerns are that Bada’s account was too assuming as it creates many loopholes; it has left too many critical questions unanswered and the account is somehow narrow and incoherent to be absolutely relied upon to validate the claim that Ogun was the founder of Saki.  It is on this basis that attempt is made here to use information obtained from other sources to present a plausible account of the historical origin of Saki, which might perhaps give more sense and meaning to the universal belief about Ogun as recorded in most Yoruba books.  To do otherwise is to negate the Yoruba beliefs about Ogun, which have been universally accepted.

shymexx: I'll like to put this out there.

Why's no one talking about the Itsekiri's? I know a little about them and I know there are a few Yoruba communities there who are semi-autonomous from the Olu of Warri and they still maintain their Ijebu Ode ancestry.

That's a better frontier than Ilorin, IMO. Ugborodo for example has the largest gas deposit in Delta state. They're semi-autonomous from the Olu of Warri and they still maintain their Ijebu/Yoruba ancestry.
The Itsekiris already identified as proto Yoruba and are choosing to go with West if it comes to it.

River Niger, before it was named Niger, was a two part body of water. River djelibe flowing in Mali/Songhai and Ghana empire and river quora (kuora/kwara) flowing through Dahomey/Yoruba empire.

What is kuora? In Yoruba kuora is a very big hemispherical calabash used to paddle across river or stay afloat while fishing or harvesting seafood.

This is where we got Kwara state from. It has never been on record that Quorra/Quora/Kuora/Kwara is anywhere in a Fulani land.

Quorra is bordered on one side of the bank by Yoruba (Katunga) and across on the other bank to the North by Borgu.

So how does Fulani come in? It was not from a jihad.

The inter-ethnic wars in North and slave raids resulted in Hausa/Fulani slaves and refugees in Yorubaland. Afonja's rebellion and the use of Fulani slaves and refugees to cecede from under Oyo is what we are dealing with till today.
Post independence Nigeria and with the rise of military power and Northern elitism and domination of power, the people of Kwara elected to identify with power base and adopted a Northern aristocracy image.

They have to elect where the future is going, they cannot deny that they dont know the history of their land.

West is the aristocrat of Nigeria today, and under a democratic system of governance, will remain so for many decades and centuries to come. The people of Kwara need to attend to a challenge inevitable in their future when SNC is on table.

Here is what was recorded centuries ago on the location and ownership of Ilorin.

"Among the Mandingoes or other nations in Western Africa, no trace at present exists of the manners of Mali, or of the pompous forms of a great monarchy.! But in Yoruba and Bergu, on the banks of the Quorra,' we find absolute sovereigns, who are approached, with the same humiliating ceremonies above described. While the king sits richly clothed, and the musicians strain their efforts, the courtiers strip themselves to the waist, and bow their heads to the dust. In Bergu the king is followed by a troop of naked girls. The idea of royalty as regards both its inter-! nal principle and external form, is now in Yoruba! precisely what it was five centuries ago in Mali; and this remarkable fact may perhaps justify the suspicion that the people of Mali originally issued from the country adjoining Bergu, Yoruba and Dohomy, and wherein there now exists a Mahommedan, and probably a Mandigo state called Magho."

lertee: Lol,you seem to have a problem with the ilorins why? Is it their fault that they r descendants of fulanis or is it kwara's fault that she is one of the banza bakwai?
In kwara as a whole,it is only the yoruba speaking parts of kwara south that will be integrated to the west and I tell you they will be the minutest in the west cos the west won't recognise them. Even in kwara, they are minority.
The fulanis in Ilorin were slaves and refugees running to Ilorin for safety and protection under the Yoruba dominion. I dont want to say too much on this topic.

Look I have history of Ilorin going as far back to 1500s and the chronicles of Ibn Khaldun and Batutta, early chroniclers of the Soudan and their written records gave a head start to Clapperton, Landers, Mungo Park and other explorers of the interior of the Negro's Soudan.

You need to shut it, there has never been doubts of who owns Ilorin.

From South heading North on the Western zone the ethnicities are

Yoruba > Borgu > Yauri > Kyambari then Fulani.

Tony Spike: A few weeks ago, I read about the history of the Luos (Luwos) of Kenya and I must say it was very interesting and sad. The invaders from Europe succeeded in driving out the original inhabitants of Kemet deep into Central and West Africa. The Luos preserved their histories and origins in oral forms and songs. I'm sure the same method of preserving history is available for many Yoruba families in form of Orikis. I believe our ancestors left us lots of clues, the major problem is how to decode them.

Yorubaland was known and recognized and in fact documented well before Europeans.

For some reasons, you guys think writing in West Africa started with Europeans, and if they didnt document it then it never happened.......and if they did, then whatever they concluded is the absolute truth.

Since when did oyinbo's conclusion on our land become our truth?

Okurounmu : The decisions of the committee will be subjected to a people's referendum.
Jonathan : The decision of the committee will be given to NASS for ratification
But then this bombshell.......

Okurounmu : I have had a pleasurable experience working with my team. It’s been a team of eminent, committed and dedicated people. People who all believe in one Nigeria and believe that we need to strengthen the unity of Nigeria and that this conference is going to go a long way in helping to strengthen that unity.

By all means this panel is there to keep NIGERIA ONE. There are two flavors for their decision and that is giving autonomy back to the people by,
(a) maintaining a status quo six-zonal rotational Presidency or
(b)returning to the pre 66 regional seats of power, but there is no reservation for a dissolution.

Both are answers to the desire to return to federalism. In response, I foresee rebellion on different fronts. If two or three armed conflicts erupt simultaneously on agitation for break away from Nigeria then the center will collapse and cannot recover the sovereignty and Nigeria will be history.

NE is volatile and the Muslim Sheikhs in North would love to separate but the developments in Dubai and Saudi Arabia is giving them second thoughts. If the black gold can transform the seat of Islam foundation from desert to tropical paradise, why should the same not be done for Kano and Sokoto? The Sheikhs are awakening to a new reality, exemplified by Dubai, Qatar, Saudi and so on......they see what oil money can do, why remain poor under the sword of jihad (damocles)? Therefore the North will reject the bokoharam style of Islam and prefer to remain part and parcel of Nigeria than divide to setup a Islamic nation. For the benefit of oil, they will prefer cohabiting with kafirs than to have an independent Islamic state. That will change if they discover commercial quantity oil in North.

SS has more headache than most. Too many nations and ethnics packed under one roof. Who will captain the ship? It would be nice if the oil money in the region is under their complete control, but its not........in fact, they have to beg and plead if they need money from the oil revenue. The region is too poor and powerless to be a oil producing land. Ijaws have gained the upper voice and secured their might politically, militarily and psychologically as power brokers for SS politics. They will love to cut off the rest of Nigeria but they are checkmated by the presence of Itsekiri in the region. Ijaw cannot do anything without the consent of Itsekiri in SS. This is painful. Longer than Biafra, Ijaw has been fighting a struggle to break free from Nigeria. They can get it..........but will it end in a peaceful Niger Delta Republic? No! Itsekiri will not bow down to Ijaw political monopoly. The Edos will not like the idea of Ijaw dictating the affairs of their Oba either. So Niger Delta may be worse, independentally, than in integration with Nigeria.

SE has a brighter than ever opportunity to realize Biafra with little or zero bloodshed. Its losses will be huge non-transferable investments outside the land. The total of investments outside Igboland more than triple the total of businesses vested on the land. What do you do with landed properties and developments in Lagos, Abuja, Kano when Biafra become sovereign? This may be a stress point in the affairs of Biafrans forced to choose between naturalizing in host countries or relocating home to Biafra. Igbos are unskilled in the management of risks and diplomacy and an open confrontation could result, making their exit frm these places bloody.

SW has an experience to learn and live from. There was a similar Sovereign Conference in Benin Republic years ago where the people reviewed their unity as a nation and drew up a sharing formula for power and ethnic recognition. SW has many options to transform its political future. The length and breadth of the land share one history and one destiny, from the sea to the banks of Niger in North and creeks of delta in the South. Without waiting for the center the SW has for many years ran a parallel govt that competes politically, economically and militarily with the center. This developed out of a strategy to diversify its urban population, economic scales and rewarding incentives for vested ownership in the region. SW is already a country in a country........it can spin off successfully and it can stay in successfully. Instead of expanding out, it converged in and served as a base of refuge for citizens escaping the hardships and adversities spread around other regions in Nigeria. In a sovereign existence, it will synergize its race and create a Yoruba belt in coastal West Africa. In an integral state, it will return to a parliamentarian system of government and unite modernity with ancient traditions......democratically elected officials sharing power with traditional land barons.
