Politics / Re: Who Runs The Lagos Economy? by DuduNegro: 5:40am On Oct 18, 2013
Ikengawo: i find it funny that most non igbo believe most igbo are traders because they see so many. traders = young poor igbo men. In other tribes this class of people are agberos, beggars, and thieves. Every company and sector you've listed is packed with ndigbo + the ones they themselves own and have started.

Igbos like to throw spaghetti on the wall and see if it sticks.

Ikengawo and nenna are throwing non sticky spaghettis right now.

Do you know what it means to own the controlling shares of a multi-national?

The controlling shares of all the multinationals named up there are owned by Yorubas. Thank God for Baba Awo. Back when Ikeja, Ilupeju, Agege, Oshodi were all under the Western Government, Baba had sealed the future for Yorubas...........we see it also in Oodua Corp, WEMA, Cocoa House and many other businesses incorporated to move Yoruba forward.

Do you imagine Unilever ever closing business in Nigeria, or Nestle or Guinness?

Yorubas work smart and we make our money even smarter.

Onlytruth: Umu Anambra na Ndigbo,

The question is really simple, but the answer is NOT.

For the past two weeks I have studiously applied my mind to this question, but the more I think about it the harder the answer becomes.
What pains me most is that we didn't have to face this tough question if all the credible APGA candidates had been allowed to test their popularity with the electorates in typical Igbo democratic fashion. The most credible and productive leaders of our people are usually chosen that way.

We were denied that chance, hence this situation.

Nevertheless, let us apply our minds to see who among the THREE TOP contestants we can support through our online activism.

(1) Chief Willie Obiano (APGA) -

Positives: The man seems like a good man. He is well educated and has financial management background which is REALLY needed in our state. He seems mature and calm. He enjoys the support of the outgoing governor (I have to count this as a positive because it may aid his success at the polls). He is a typical Igbo son. APGA has been our party; though we are angry at how things evolved.

Negatives: The man has never held any government position that I know of (please correct me if I'm wrong). He is a product of zoning -an egregious political move that can lead to future division in Anambra state. He is too close to the outgoing governor, hence may aid in covering grand theft (if any needs covering). He looks dull sometimes; Anambra is a state populated by lions. A sheep will be eaten.

(2) Dr Chris Ngige (APC) -

Positives: He has a proven record of delivering dividends of democracy (at least in road construction). He is a very intelligent (and even cunning) man which may aid his political positionings and calculus. He is a resolute (or even stubborn) character, hence can push his agenda to his desired end. He is known throughout the state and has a cult followership. He is a typical Igbo son.

Negatives: He can turn his back on friends if need be in order to advance his personal interest. He turned his back on Chris Uba (positive), and also turned his back on deported Anambra citizens (negative). He has no clear commitment to any other than himself.

(3) Ifeanyi Uba (LP) -

Positives: He is a young man with drive and ambition, and those are needed to move Anambra to great developmental heights. He has embarked upon many philanthropic projects in Anambra state. He understands the problems of businessmen (traders and those involved in commerce). He has power of persuation. He is a typical Igbo son.

Negatives: He failed to pay enough attention to his company/business while planning his gubernatorial race (he had started his plans for the guber race around three years ago). Some say he is not educated enough ( I don't know how true this is because in all his debates and speeches so far, he appears to hold his own). He has a controversial reputation among his opponents, with some questioning his integrity. These may add up to snag his rise at the polls.

As for me, I am staying neutral at this stage...
My candidate did not make it this far.

After this, our PM Alex101 will make a case for the popular candidate in a new post.

Umu Anambra na Igbo, o ruo na omume!

Signed

Who denied you the opportunity to exercise your "typical democracy"?

What we are witnessing is the typical igbo way of choosing leaders.

We keep telling you your politics in SE is in infantile stage but you dont agree. How else is this situation to be classified?

Do you not have Supreme Elders of Indigenous Igbo that can intervene and restore sanity?
Politics / Re: Are Blacks More Violent, More Disorganised and Less Disciplined than Whites? by DuduNegro: 4:22am On Oct 18, 2013
We must turn this question around.

Are whites less driven about life?
Are whites less resilient to the challenges of nature?
Are whites less immune to environmental hazards?
Are whites easily intimidated and fearful of a black person?
Are whites more likely to surrender and give up on life than to endure through adversities?
Politics / Re: Entry Of Ethiopian Airlines Into Enugu Will Kill The Aviation Industry- Vanguard by DuduNegro: 4:13am On Oct 18, 2013
Bandit C.:
Simple. Let Akanu Ibiam International Airport be the entry point for all Southern Nigerians and from there, the yorubas can find their way back to wherever they are heading to and by so doing, yorubas can sustain local flights.

Igbos and other easterners/ south southerners have tried and sustained it for God knows how long. Let the yorubas give it a try.

Funny how the shoe hurts when it is on the other foot.

Ibos are everywhere, you can do without Akanu Ibiam Airport.. Yorubas are not everywhere and so we have to be on our land to catch plane.

Politics / Re: Why Festus Odimegwu Resigned As NPC Boss by DuduNegro: 4:03am On Oct 18, 2013
Ibos lack tact to act responsibly and act maturedly in positions of power. In a sensitive position needing coalition and compromise to move ahead and add to the building-block , they soon exhibit their lack of vision and penchant for rebellion.........making enemies instead of winning friends!

Odimegwu will not be Ibo if he didnt turn people off with his authority as headman of the commission.

Yeye dey smell for SE!

Politics / Re: No Bank Robbery In Anambra In The Last 4 Years -- Peter Obi by DuduNegro: 1:17am On Oct 17, 2013
What bank is there to rob? ibo keeps his money in his pillowcase and sleeps with a machette under pillow.

Which ibo do you know that keep money in bank? We have asked repeatedly to see their passbook for the bank accounts they claimed Awo seized and no one has succeeded in providing a passbook.

How can you provide what never existed?
How can you rob a bank that is wretched?

Has individuals been robbed in Anambra in the past 4 yrs?
Has individuals been kidnapped in past 4yrs?
Has underage children been snatched from the streets in past 4yrs?

you'know, i sort of doubt that
i know for example that you have been snatching igbo girls left right and center angry

Igbo girls do not want to return home so they attach to our boys so they can erase the Nri gene and give it Oduduwa blood.

Your boys are foing same.......offering Yoruba girls heaven and earth so they can have right of ownership in Odualand and wash away their Osu branded gene.

which one is worse? so afonja was even killed by the people he ran to for help?
either way the fulani defeated you and stole your land..
deal with it

An act of insurrection by Afonja is what led to that. Similar to how act of insurrection by Ojukwu resulted in your confiscated properties in P'Harcourt and Kaduna and Kano.

This is what happens when rebels raise arms against their Lords.......there are grave outcomes. Right, re@lchange?
Politics / Re: Yoruba, Igbo Mistrust Cause Of Underdevelopment- Adebanjo by DuduNegro: 9:55pm On Oct 16, 2013
The response here is simple!

Yoruba is far too civilized to be stepping back and seeking alliance with people who records show had no civilization prior to contact with whiteman.

You go into alliance with people at your level of social and human developmenr. I understand the sentiments of Adebanjo being a remark given to encourage ibo spirit against thinking everyone hates them, but i bet if you ask Adebanjo if he will give his daughter to an ibo for marriage or his son to marry an ibo he will change tone on this remark.

This is what is called pep talk .............something to make your audience feel good about themselves and get a sense of elation that they are in same social class with Yoruba.
Its kinda like George Bush telling Goodluck Jonathan, look, we both love hats and animals. Does that mean they belong in same class?

Ibos are always in search of attache, i can imagine their getting sweet belle hearing Adebanjo offer a line for them to attach to Yoruba civilization.

Idi Amin: I don't know if someone has ever noticed the wonderful creativity in OMEGA WATCH commercial on CNN. Everytime I watch it, I wonder when Naija advertorials will get to that level. Guess what, I just bought an OMEGA watch just because of the advert and I'm happy I did cool #teamomegawatch#

Look, I started to open a new thread today on talents and insights but I decided to scrap it because there were too many chatter and jumps on the forum today, not a good timing.

I know the add you are talking about. It takes many aspects of "a day in the life of..." and drills them down into the skillsmanship of precision mechanics and synchronized chronology in timing.

We have talents that can outdo that but we wash away their talents with our overkill on education. We worship education but we demonize individual talents.

Wetin happen, S.Africa no love you any more? How about Kenya, Ghana, Gabon, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast..........these were places you used to brand and brag about how well Ibos are loved and I thought you would include them in your list.

Politics / Re: Group Wants Abacha’s Former Aide, Al-mustapha, Appointed EFCC Chairman by DuduNegro: 6:09pm On Oct 15, 2013
who described Mr Al-Mustapha as a ‘brave, fearless and honest intelligence officer’ capable of taking the administration’s corruption war to the desired level.

Why are we quick to suggest "confrontation" and "intimidation" approach as a go-getter for problem resolution in society?

Given these attributes it sounds like Al Mustapha should be sent to Maiduguri to eliminate bokoharam, than sitting in Abuja and using the privilege of office abusively to target and eliminate party opponents.

We tried same approach here in Nairaland by putting fearless and brave, no-nonsense moderator Ikenna on the mantle of authority to fight tribalism and ethnicity and force all of us in Nairaland into a unity that the Nigerain nation has failed in over 100yrs to do, we saw what a mess it turned out to be. He was succeeded by another fearless and brave, no-nonsense moderator and here we are, worse off for it.

When are we going to appreciate the benefit of negotiation as a value-added component of social contract and start appointing people with brains for managing conflict of interest?

Look closely at the Yoruba model, no other region is as politically volatile as Western Nigeria - its a hotbed of political conflicts and yet they are most successful in negotiating compromise and creating win-win outcomes that ultimately does not resolve the interpersonal disputes of the principals but secures and preserves the social order and the political mandates. How do they do that?

Appointing al Mustapha to EFCC is a dangerous concept and must be opposed by all means. There is no one here who is familiar with Al Mustapha track record that will disagree that this guy is over-ambitious and self centered, very ego-driven. Technically, al Mustapha is a soldier of fortune - a mercenary! He is available to serve the highest bidder in exchange for inclusion in National politics. He is the perfect candidate for any ambitious group in search of an implant in corridors of power. He will be turned to a double agent. In a country beset with threats and militancy, Mustapha ought to be monitored and surveilled, not rewarded and put in a seat where bokoharam or disgruntled military officers, for instance, can be empowered with deeper foothold to capsize what is left to get us a limp to 2015.
Politics / Re: Why I Rejected Conference Committee Membership –nwabueze by DuduNegro: 8:55am On Oct 15, 2013
Danhumprey: I still don't really get you! Are you speaking in tongues or proverbs? undecided

Both!

Folks that are thin skinned and feel intimidated by Yorubas should not open topics on national politics.

I will remind you again, there is no Yoruba that will support an Ibo or Hausa political interest unless doing so is in favor of Yoruba agenda. Likewise, Hausa will only support a Yoruba or Ibo if the action is a net benefit to Haisa agenda. Ibo is no different, it only seeks its own interest against the other two.

So whats too hard to grasp here? You are befuddled by a campaign to end tribalism and ethnicity in Nairaland. It will never happen.
If Nairaland is staking interest in Nigerian politics then it must not be immuned from the reality of its ethnic-rich politics.

So get off your ignorance and do one of two things

1. Stop posting on national politics topic
2. Get a thick skin and learn to stake your turf in the mud fight.

Yeye don rot!
