First team MF should be able to help out other parts of the team where we might be a bit lacking in quality. I hope Chamakh stands up to be counted today and gets into the goal scoring groove again.

I don't know how they'll raise the funds but management has to start greasing the right palms. Imagine if we had some of those decisions go our way in both Fulham games, that's the obvious way to go.
Lai lai, that can't happen as long as Arsene is at the helm. Its not really about greasing palms, its more of a parapo kinda thing.

We need the OX man,  at least lets know where he stands in the team
Is he Theo's replacement or just a flash in the pan

I liked J Simpson and felt he had the physicality remember the 4-0 win against Wigan in the Carling Cup 08

On AFS I have been having issues with shareview,  logging in any ideas?
There isn't much to get nostalgic about Jay Simpson, he can become a good box player but not much more. The technical level required at Arsenal is unfortunately beyond him. To even think of leading the line for Arsenal where players with as much experience and undoubted ability as Chamakh have cracked is a bridge too far. He doesn't even come close to the likes of Vela who are still struggling.

Ox will be brilliant, I don't know why Arsene is holding him back personally but with what happened with JET, I'll trust his judgement even though I'm currently struggling to understand it.

I had a problem with my Shareview login initially and had to request a new PIN they have to physically post it to you  I recall so you might need to ensure your address is in order if you've moved recently. If you'll need to call them, check the mail you originally received from them for a contact telephone number. I logged into my account today to see if they've done any buying recently and I got through fine. Remember to check your password first before stressing yourself unnecessarily.

The person who actually needs TH14's guidance the most is going to the ANC. A front 3 of RVP, Henry and Gervinho would be a sight in the PL.

Q: What is up with Park/OX?
Park and Ox will be unleashed in 2012 according to Arsene but with the way its going, I'm prayin we see 2 weeks of Park before he goes for NYSC or chucked out whichever comes first.  grin grin
I'm beginning to see a trend with these hijacked signings like Silvestre, someone needs to dissuade Arsene from awoof signings that cause bad belle with other clubs. Ox should be fine, he has time on his side and I think he has too much talent, dedication and family backing not to make it. More importantly, there was no bad belle involved in his signing.

Q: why did we sell J Simpson
Long Answer: There were too many players ahead of him and he would be wasting his time for all the stars to align for him to play for Arsenal when he could be getting valuable game time elsewhere.
Short Answer: He wasn't good enough.  grin

Doki, I felt the same way about Podolski until I checked his recent stats. Take a look at them again and yu'll have a change of mind. I think his misadventure at Bayern did him little favour. He is currently only 2 goals behind Gomez and he always delivers for Germany.

I'm banking on Wilshere to stamp his authority on the Cesc role but I'm not taking it for granted. He excelled in a deeper role last season and the likes of Gotze already have a headstart in delivering at that role. His figures have to improve dramatically.

And hell boy will be screaming as if Chambo scores hattricks everytime he takes to the pitch. cheesy

How many goals sef did Theo himself score playing for Reserves?  grin tongue
This is about the time of the year when the reserve results nosedive with the annual emigration out on loan and I think the main man for the reserves MF this season has been Ozyakup who didn't play in that match preparatory to a loan move while Aneke and Freeman are already on loan to Stevenage.

When you have Rhys Murphy playing the AM role, then one shouldnt expect much. Reports suggest Ox had to move central in the 2nd half and he was acclaimed the best attacking player for Arsenal during the match, only Sunderland defended very deep having done the damage in the first half.

For what its worth though, no one is saying to chuck Theo out for him but the boy does deserve a chance on the strength of what he's shown so far.
Anyone who thinks he'll be an instant messiah is however in dire need of some expectation adjustment.
TBH, I think Gerv has been a bit of a disappointment. While some may argue that its still his first season in an entirely new league, I think he should have acclimated to Wengerball being a fast and skillful winger.  I hope he eventually lives up to expectation but anything short of 12 league  goals from him will be unacceptable IMO, so far he has found d net only 4 times and we are half way the season already.  Even piss poor Asharvin would return a better goal per game ratio. He better improve his in-box play
Oga Dipo, Gervinho is a player that frustrates but he is a player you always want in your team. He has everything to scare defences and despite all the chances he wastes, his stats are still pretty impressive. He can definitely go up a notch if he takes a bit of over exhuberance out of his game. I believe he will get there cos he was quite prolific in his last season at Lille.

proudly9ja:
I also think that he sometimes has problems with not knowing who to pass to. On monday, there were several opportunities to pass the ball to Coquelin who had overlapped ahead of him but he just didn't pass the ball.

On Arsenal, this team has over performed and the peak is being reached
we need fresh impetus to push through,
The thing tire me o, and Jona is playing with fire.

We stand on the brink my bro, We now have money and I expect to see some investment in the summer particularly in the forward areas. I think Arsene still wants to try out both Jack and Aaron in the Cesc role to see who stamps his authority on that position coupled with the probable none availability of his target(s) in january. If neither of them grabs it, I fully expect one of Hazard, Shakiri, Eriksen or Gotze to come in the summer(no matter the price) as we are definitely lacking something in the final third. Ramsey takes too many touches for my liking but we must not forget this is in essence his first full season in the top flight.

Our defence has tightened up and if I'm not mistaken, bar that 8-2 mauling, we've had one of the top 3 defences in the league so far as even the likes of Djorou have been relatively dependable squad players this season all things considered. If we solve the problem of the Cesc role, get another prolific striker (say Podolski who seems to want to wind down his contract) and keep RVP, my bullish Arsenal attitude will return. For now, I see nothing that suggests an intention to win the PL and I think we largely gave up on that after our disastrous start.

@Debo

That is why I blame Arsene for the loss and not the players. He is the one best to know the physical condition of the players. Why exactly do we have Ox in the squad if he can't fill in for Theo on a day like yesterday? if he is trusted enough to help us progress in a cup competition like the CC, why not when 3 points is at stake?  undecided
Coquelin has come in and acquited himself admirably in the LB position showing the kind of dedication you no longer see from people like Rosicky, perhaps we'd be better off subbing him in centrally atimes when hustle is needed rather than Rosicky.
IMO, JD has played himself back to some form in the RB position and with the kind of pressure we came under I wouldn't crucify even Squillaci for those goals we conceeded.
Arsene should blame himself for not managing the squad well during a time of fixture congestion. This was exactly the same way we played players like Nasri and Song into the ground last season and they came up short at the end of the season.

. . . In other words, Fulham were better on the day.
That is a matter of opinion, the fact is that we lost. There is no requirement to outplay the opponent, only to outscore them.  tongue
It is my opinion that we lost a game we had no business losing, you might choose to disagree.

proudly9ja:
Considering the way Gerv and Walcott were wasting chances in the first half, I was screaming that they should be taken off. If you also consider that the pressure on DJ20 was quite high and Theo wasn't doing much to help.

I agree AW needs to trust his younger players. What's the point of having them in the squad if they are not going to be used?

Ive put this down as a bad day in the office sha, I simply don't understand our second half performance,
Not only younger players jare, Arsene can rightly be accused of favoritism. On current form based on stats, the number 1 contender for the 'Cesc' role is Benayoun yet he only gets to play after Ramsey and Rosicky. While I can understand the developmental reason for playing Ramsey, I can't understand why people like Rosicky still have to play when they've messed up things for so long. The player who plays that role has got to be getting in the double digits in terms of goals (a la Lampard, Gerrard when they were in form) and with lots of assists too like Cesc.

When whoever is in that role doesn't play well, Arsenal as a whole suffers. We solved the problem of pace on the wings and seemingly created another one by cutting off the supply link from MF.

Just look at this stats and try convince me why any of Ramsey and Rosicky deserves to be in the team ahead of Benayoun yet he is the last to ever be subbed in.
We have 'arguably' the best U21 player in the country in OX, yet Arsene refuses to play him no matter how much Theo messes up, even if it is 1 or 2 matches using the old injury or rest argument. In the meantime, the likes of Kyle Walker (who look up to Ox to sort things out for them in the U21s) are helping Tottenham cement a top 4 standing. undecided

                               PL                UCL                   CC                  Total
Tomas Rosicky        4+7      0       3+3       0                                7+10       0
Aaron Ramsey        18+1     1       4+2       1                              22+3         2
Yossi Benayoun       1+8      1       2+1       1           3       1          6+9         3

I take the good with the bad where Arsene is concerned but one shouldn't hide from the truth when its as clear as day.

Fulham had more shots on goal, more possession and created more chances than us. They were clearly better on the day.

However, we had higher quality chances, especially in the first half.

I'm pissed off by the performance TBH, but looking at all the fixtures in this hectic fixture period, a loss isn't unexpected.
We had more shots on goal (9 - 5) even though they had more shots overall (22 - 19), it's the manner of the loss that's annoying. Lack of efficiency. I believe Arsene was more annoyed with himself than anyone else and he should be. We had no business losing that match.

Arsenal barely created anything after 45 minutes.
Fulham stepped up when Gervinho left the pitch, true we were wasting chances before then but the game really became one sided when we went down to 10 men. Fulham knew Rosicky and Benayoun would never get beyond their full backs.

With due respect, i dont think we are better than shytt. And we will never be as good as the delusion makes it appear as long as we have Djourou, Squillaci in  our squad.
I totally disagree Monsignor, for once I'm laying this at Arsene's feet. If we were squarely beaten I wld say so. If a team loses a game in which it should have been at least 3 nil up in the dying minute then the manager needs to reexamine himself on the day.
Arsene can now be accused of rewarding mediocrity. When he didn't have the players, I could understand but not now. The likes of Rosicky should no longer be playing for Arsenal and guys like Ramsey and Theo should be seeing more bench time while players like Benayoun And OX should play more? Just check out the stats. We basically repeated the Wolves game all over again only this time, we saw it to a final conclusion and lost. Wrong subs and lack of efficiency when on top pure and simple. Fulham were NOT better than us on the day.

Strangely enof I can't even blame JD and Squillaci today, we shouldn't even have been in such a situation in the first place with our first half domination and the less said of the subs the better. Arsene should know by now that he needs one of Theo or Gerv on the pitch when against a PL team.
