We just beat Manure Reserves 2-1 in our opening reserves match today. Aneke was on the score sheet, he should be thinking of a loan spell this season and when will Nigeria cap him? undecided

Fans should refrain from insulting current Arsenal players.

Nasri has done nothing wrong - if you and I were offered twice our salaries at another company, we'd go in a heartbeat. There is no crime in that.

He has not said he wants to leave the club, he's simply said he won't sign another contract - that is perfectly fair. He is upfront about it, without claiming the club is in his heart and all the other nonsense from Cesc.

Clichy didn't sign another deal, so why is this case any different?

This is not a Flamini case - someone who said he'd sign till the last minute and left - Nasri hasn't said he will sign and then refuse, neither has he gone on defacto strike in order to secure a move.
I believe he is our boy until he crosses over to the dark side.  grin grin
its the general gloom that surrounds the club that leads to this, fans are angry there are no trophies and just hitting out at anything in sight.
Its our past heroes that are not doing enough in my opinion. It took Gary Neville to come out with such an article.
People like Lee Dixon, Winterburn, Charlie Nicholas and Parlour could be a bit more positive in their words and writing no matter their individual opinions about the club's direction (I know Merse is incapable of such  grin), I think it would go a long way to calm down the more hot headed section of the fanbase.
But I know Arsenal fans, if he signs and plays as we all know he can, it will all be forgotten soon enough, nothing that 2 goals in 2 matches from him wouldnt solve.
I don't think that winding down his contract thingie will work well for anyone though, Cesc's saga should be a good lesson, anything above 20m they should just sell him straight.

it was in the morning because by noon, fabregas was on his way to catalonia when he was halted by wenger.

the agreement(with my common sense) was. . . . .the deal was tied up late last week with the agreement that both parties must keep mum about it.
apparently, pique and puyol couldn't keep their excitement and they broke the news on twitter. . . . .cesc seeing this thought well, i might as well leave london now and he was on his way before wenger put a stop to it. . . . . .lied to the media again that the deal is yet to be tied because of some fine details.

only for us to wake up on monday morning with the news that the deal has been done. . . .
to make matters worse, it took barcelona just 2 hours to prepare such a glorious welcome for cesc fabregas. it took them 2 hrs again to get 30,000 fans to camp nou that early, and another 2 hrs to stage an impromptu press conference to address hundreds of sports journalists.

if you really believe this deal was concluded today then i suggest you donate your brains to the apes in chester zoo. grin
Where did I tell you the deal was concluded today?
Wenger's press conference was on Friday morning NO?

I don't recall hearing Friday morning and even if he said morning, did he tell you the time or you jumped to conclusions about that? typical of you to make none existent points. What you started with was that he was lying cos he wanted people to renew season tickets, later you changed it to him not wanting a media circus because of the newcastle match (a very valid reason I must say). Come back when yu get your story sorted in your confused skull, the shape of your skull doesn't matter its the contents, yours could do with a makeover, the contents aint right are yu sure it isn't sawdust?  grin grin

coogar:
roger johnson of birmingham cost them £40m
ben foster was also £50m(record signing)
and obafemi martins was a world record signing for them at £100 million.

how much did portsmouth spend in 2008 to win fa cup? tottenham in 2008 to win carling cup?
how many finals have arsenal played since they last won a trophy? i reiterate, money isn't an excuse for wenger's failure in the last six years. he doesn't necessary have to win the league title. if he had won any of the domestic cup competitions in the last 6, the criticism won't be this fierce.
You can direct those questions to Gary Neville, I'm sure he'll find time to respond cheesy but spare a thot that 1 of those clubs you mention is now in the Championship and Tottenham well, are Tottenham not mentioned in the same breath as Arsenal. What the club needed then was to get financially stable, a top 4 finish year on year guaranteed that and that is what Arsene has delivered while flirting with surpassing that on occasion as well.

think like a man and not like an oaf(it's a new season). . . . .there's no way the deal was done this morning with barcelona organizing such a big party and welcome of such nature. events like today in spain take days of planning.

more idiocy from the lips of duduspace.
let's compile a list of all the players wenger has brought in since his last trophy in may 2005 and you would see where arsenal fans are frustrated.
wenger does not need british transfer record players to win a title. there are plenty of smart signings in the league most clubs have signed in that period. how much did tottenham pay for lennon, how much did villa pay for ashley young?

what about the defence? arsenal's biggest weakness. fergie got vidic and evra for less than £12 million. are you saying wenger couldn't have gotten that kind of signing in europe for the past 6 years? how much did roma pay for stekelenburg? £6m. . . . .are arsenal that broke to get someone like him instead of persisting with plonkers like almunia and fabianski? money is not an excuse for the 6-year drought, wenger's stupidity is!

arsenal's squad cost more than birmingham in last season's carling cup and yet arsenal lost!
droplets of insanity from a slack gob that needs to be weld shut permanently.  tongue
show me the proof that this deal was done thursday night or keep it zipped jare.
Rio is no longer part of your defence abi?  Berbatov is no longer part of your attack and neither is Rooney? how much did that lot go for again?  undecided
and if we're judging Managers on the basis of one match, why not judge Fergie on the drubbing West Ham who are now relegated gave in knocking you out of the same Carling cup?

before pique/puyol tweeted cesc was coming home. . . . . .wenger just wanted the news delayed so it won't create a circus before his tough away game at newcastle. that deal has been done since last week otherwise, why was cesc travelling to barcelona on friday morning before he was stopped to remain till monday.
stop talking squirting rubbish  tongue
The interview was on Friday morning, the deal wasn't confirmed at the time of the press conference and there were still documents to sign and send, as at the time of the interview, Cesc was still an Arsenal player.

coogar:
neville is now a skysports pundit - he must remain as unbiased as ever to hold on to that job. 50% of what he said was the truth but then there were good bargain players in those six years of famine that wenger missed.

shay given
ashley young
richard dunne
christopher samba
van der vaart
and hundreds of players wenger could have bought to improve his squad massively without breaking british transfer records.

was money the factor when he lost to a relegated bound birmingham side at wembley?
I'm glad Neville is unbiased, don't agree he had to be though, he is bucking the trend of punditry in the UK and for that I'm glad.
I personally don't think any of those ones would have made much difference, its the overall squad strength we're talking about not one or 2 signings, not many of Arsene's signings are faulted, its the signings he doesn't make that are and that points to problems with cash flow IMO.
By the way, you can direct those questions to Gary, isn't he one of your club legends?

With due respect to my catalunya bros Krayola(chop knuckle) I think we should give wenger and arsenal FC a break this whole saga should leave a bitter taste even in the mouth of cesc himself, to me the biggest culprits in this whole issue would be Xavi, I respect his technical prowess but the way he handled himself throughout this saga is nothing short of shameful.
Fabregas was never forced to leave Barca, he had a choice the gleaming chance of first team football drew him and he knows that if he was still in Barcelona he would have never reached where he is today, this club made him who he is and as such they deserve to be respected. I feel though that this was more of a way to get back at arsenal for 'snatching' him but common he would have been shipped off like bojan now, the number of top flight games he was given as a teenager was mind bogging and for that Barcelona should be thankful to wenger, the trophyless seasons the club suffered were partly
I respect people who remain unbiased in their analysis of issues, I always knew you to be and yu've confirmed it again. It is good to be able to look at issues from both sides of the coin.
The Barcelona hierarchy could have handled this a lot better and I will insist that the immediate past leadership was to blame for this debacle, they should have reined the players in from the onset. Naijababe and Mukina2 are only being emotional, if they were in Cesc's shoes they would have gone yapping to the press saying they wanted a move.  tongue
Cesc wanted to go to Barcelona but did his best to get Arsenal the best deal they could so he kept quiet, he also had to consider the Barca fans he was going to meet so had to remain quiet to both sides. There wouldn't have been a lot of ill feeling if one side didn't keep shouting in the media. The nearest deal to this in terms of circumstances was Chamakh's move only difference was that he had no affiliations to Arsenal, Arsenal werent continually in the press about it and he did win Bordeaux a trophy before leaving and got the grand exit his performances deserved from the Bordeaux fans despite leaving on a free from a club he had been at since 14.

Cesc had the opportunity to become an Arsenal legend but passed on it but in the future people would still remember him for what he did on the pitch for arsenal. He was the only one I felt could surpass Henry in terms of appreciation from the fans if he had stayed and won something as captain, everything else was going for him and he still had age on his side but he knows himself better anyway. Now we have to look to Jack and hope the club gets through this building phase before he gets fed up as well.

Now this takes the mickey? Weirdest source of backing for Arsene Wenger.
Gary Neville of all people  huh huh huh

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2025700/Gary-Neville-Arsenal-fans-shouldnt-criticise-Arsene-Wenger.html
So they haven't won a trophy for six years? Well, Manchester United went 26 years without winning the league, Liverpool have now gone 21 years without the title and Manchester City went 35 years without winning a trophy. Tottenham have gone 50 years without winning the league.

In the last six years, it's been clear that Arsenal have not been able to spend huge amounts on the team because they've invested £390million in a stadium to set themselves up for the next 60 years, not for the next six years. They've invested in the infrastructure of the club and it's a sustainable model. That's why in 50 years' time, Arsenal will still be a great football club.

Six years is nothing. These spells happen. In 100 years' time people will look at those six years and say: 'To be honest, we weren't able to spend £70m, or even £30m, every year, because we had just built the most incredible stadium.' And I'll tell you what, when that stadium is paid for in 15 years' time and when there are 60,000 people paying what they pay, week in, week out, Arsenal will be in a great position. You make decisions for the long term. You don't go and cripple yourself financially and I believe Arsenal will be successful long after we've gone.
If you buy a house, you're investing for 20 years of your life. And in those first few years, when the mortgage payments are a bit tough, unfortunately you might have to cut down on your holidays. That's the equivalent of what Arsene Wenger has done these last six years.
He is trying to produce players through his youth system and trying to find them through his scouting network and it's a sustainable model. And that's why Arsenal will still be around as a great football club in decades to come.

Would any other manager have extracted more from those players and been able to draw so many young players through to the top level and create such a great team for so little money? The answer is there is only one other man who has done that in the Premier League.
Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.
Amazing, coming from someone who played under Fergie. A most hated enemy can see this but crying shame our own fans can't see it.
much respect to Gary Neville that he can come out and say the truth despite club affiliations.

Shallow reasoning, negotiations were still going on at this stage and it was not a done deal, if he was sure Cesc would stay, a simple YES would have sufficed to the reporter's question. Most arsenal fans resigned to losing Cesc ages ago, even the few who held on for emotional and rational reasons gave up a few weeks back. Cesc wanted to go back home, it just so happens that his hometown club is also currently the best team in the world. I personally can't blame him for that.
