follypimpi:Unfortunately not likely, but wetin dey happen, if its good enough I fit change my mind o. ![]() |
I don't know where Debo is off to, I was eagerly expecting his thots on Squillaci's signing but I don't think he will have much complaint apart from the age. He has played at the top end for quite a while. I've heard he's not exactly pacey but most people think he is a good buy. I don't know much about him to be honest but he can't be too bad to have such a record. There is also some rumor making the rounds that Schwarzer has already failed a medical with us today but I don't believe it. |
Fee agreed with Sevilla, Squillaci to have medical tomorrow. |
follypimpi:He is not even officially an Arsenal player yet, can't be until he clocks 18 in January but we've payed to own 65% of him ![]() and he made Fluminense's first team as a 17 year old. The club seems to want to keep him around till January. |
@Duduspace I am sure every Walcott goal yesterday was like a knife through your heart and i assure you if he stays fit you would witness more of that! No be only Wellington Silva na Wellington bling-bling
Far from it, was Diaby's goal a knife through yours? hopefully he doesn't revert to type, when he does well I salute him, when he doesn't I slate him but my opinion of him does not change. I still believe he is the worst football player we have in the squad albeit with unique pace but if he is able to put up such a performance as he did yesterday once in every 3 matches, he might yet change my mind. Just wait until you see Wellington Silva, that chap in my opinion has every tool to reach Messi's level, watch this space, hopefully he will make our Carling Cup squad if we're in it till next year. The club seems to want to keep him around till January and not have him return to Fluminense again. |
slimshay:Honestly, Le Prof really knows his players, Chamakh is really a fighter, he worked so hard yesterday I'm already worried he'll burn out before the season is over. I wouldn't read too much into his misses too, he wanted it a bit too much yesterday you could see the relief after he scored, besides if he is able to keep up that work rate, I'll gladly live with a few misses, his movement is unbelievable and allowed our smaller players to get so much space to operate. I can now understand why Liverpool were so scared to step up against us last week. |
Vieira:So Liverpool didn't have bite in midfield throughout our match against them? Diaby is who he is and he does frustrate atimes but that criticism is over the board. Comparing him to Rosicky is a no brainer and unnecessary, that is why Rosicky is played as the AM and not Diaby. Each player has what he brings to the team and as long as he uses his unique attribute to the benefit of the team then one can live with their foibles and hope they cut out the negative portions of their game. Yesterday and against Liverpool, Diaby did nothing to warrant such an attack on him, on the day he deserves it I'll hold up my hand and say it was warranted. |
News of the world is reporting Rooney is out of tomorrows match due to a stomach bug. I expect he'll be replaced by Bebe. ![]() |
follypimpi:I think he'll be okay, possibly Arsene wanted some team chemistry going with the team under less pressure, he looked worried when RVP went down almost like he was regretting the decision but then it was just supposed to be a 30 minute work out. |
follypimpi:I've already orderd for some imams to get on their mats I still can't forget him scoring against Manure in 06/07 only for us to hear later he had broken a bone and if I recall correctly that was the end of his season that year.I'll pray hard before getting on arsenal.com tomorrow. |
Some people can be very irrational, this is not a day to slate any player, imagine an holding player scoring and having an assist without the team conceding a goal? yet someone says he should pack up and go I can only hope he was joking. One can eat humble pie and admit that Arsene was right all along that these players are growing in experience and stature and capable of springing surprises. Now let them go on and show that this is not a one off by making them cry at Blackburn next week. |
slimshay:Honestly, I thot I was seeing another player out there. Where he impressed me was not really in the goals cos I always knew he was capable of that but in his overall contribution to play. He drifted in very well, made a mug of the left back, made good passes, didn't lose the ball unnecessarily and looked really ready for business, in this kind of form, he is twice the player Lennon is. Hope he takes off from here. If he keeps this up, that will be the end of Eboue as a RWF or RM. |
Great game and a nice way to prepare to face Fat Sam's thugs next week, hope to be at Blackburn to watch that live. Lots of positives to take, we showed strength in depth and Theo gave a MoM performance and even though my opinion of him still stands, he did show a side of him I would dearly love to see more often. Great Chamakh got that goal, cos if he didn't he would have been the English media's next focus in their continuing desperate bid to find something wrong with us, I'm sure they will still say we won because Blackpool had a man sent off but I'd gladly take that for the emphatic win. |
The way Chamakh works that backline is unbelievable, he deserves a goal. If he can get one Arsene should just pull him off straight. |
Theo looks good today, he has been impressive and not just the goal. This is the Walcott who got an hat-trick against Croatia. |
@Slim The minute Hughes became Fulham manager, I knew we would have problems with any transfers from Fulham. That chap has a grudge against both Arsene and the club stemming from his bunch of roughnecks led by Robbie Savage at Blackburn Rovers back in the day and you would recall the incident during the Carling cup match last season. Cesc's jibe about reconciling his playing days at Barca with the thuggish approach to football as a coach also didn't help matters in any way. |
dayokanu:Can you quote him please? even if he's told you in private that he wouldn't mind having a foursome with Pique, Iniesta and Xavi at least what he has said in the public domain is that he is commited to Arsenal for now, never even handed in a transfer request. |
yousouph:I can't tell Uncle to pay if saving money has served us well so far, we are the 3rd best run club in the whole of Europe and even though we don't have trophies we also don't have gbese. |
So its confirmed, we are after Schwarzer and Squillaci, but can't agree a fee with their clubs just yet but I remain hopeful at the least we should get a CB. Reports are saying there is difference in valuation of about 2m between us and Sevilla. But why are all these other clubs such pricks? why must everything Arsenal is involved in find their way into the papers due to no fault of ours? Someone wants a player from Arsenal, they put it in the press, Arsenal wants a player from another club and they put it in the press. Is it our fault that Squillaci decided to opt out from a European tie because he heard that we're interested in him? or that Schwarzer decided to tell his local rag he wanted to come to Arsenal? why didn't Cesc opt out of matches despite having the so called Barca DNA abi na DNS? I tire for this people self. |
Highly-rated Brazilian youngster Wellington Silva hit the winner as Arsenal Reserves defeated their Manchester United counterparts 2-1 in their opening game of the Platinum One Challenge in Dublin this evening. Wellington doubled Arsenal’s advantage after a penalty from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas had put them ahead. United responded through Federico Macheda but the close scoreline does not merely reflect the significant dominance Arsenal had on proceedings for vast periods of the game.
Quite impressive and a testament to the strength in depth we're developing through our academy. That manure team had Cleverly, Macheda, and Fabio, 3 players with first team aspirations at manure this season but were comfortably beaten despite us not having players like Barazite, Watt, Coquelin and Sunu available. Where is Sauron to come start eating his words. Wellington Silva is a talent worth waiting for, can't wait for the time he finally completes his move in January. That chap will glue Theo's backside to the bench full time, its not every day a 17 year old makes an impression in the first team of a brazillian club like Fluminense, he and Wilshere might be the lynch pins of Arsenal in the coming years, injuries permitting. It is because of results like this that Baba Fergie is going after players like Bebe, even he can project into the future and see what we're building. A bit of a pity most of our own fans can't see it. |
follypimpi:This is a bit unfair folly, the boy's career looked like taking off this injury can't help in any way. Hope he gets well soon and I still don't think Arsene will buy a DM anyway. |
Bloody hell, now some sites are reporting Frimpong is out for 9 months due to a cruciate ligament injury picked in training. what kind of training exactly do we do? are our players now doing hatchet jobs on each other? ![]() |
tkb417:Very weird signing, Arsene used to be the master when it comes to unknown players but it seems Fergie wants that crown as well. |
Calm down Dipo, I think signing such players has its benefits, they have much game time and won't be affected by too much time on the bench to get to their best cos they've mostly seen it all. On the other hand, if you sign someone younger, they need to be getting playing time to hit their peak. We've got 4 CBs 25 years and under and its obvious to me the 2 first choice are Kos and Vermaelen. A older head would bring some balance but Arsene needs to make sure its not another Silvestre. |
follypimpi:I just feel Vela is missing out on too much 1st team football and don't want him to become another Randall/Fabianski. I've followed Wilshere since he was 15 and watched when he first appeared for the U18s in 2008 as a 16 year old and I know there is a massive player in that boy waiting to come out, so far he hasn't disappointed with his progress. I think he is still a bit behind physically and that is not surprising considering his age but IMO Jack has the potential to surpass Cesc and can only benefit if similarly fastracked as Cesc was. |
Carlos Vela + some money for Schwarzer looks good to me (but it must be a season loan and not outright sale) because I think that boy only needs a run of games to prove himelf, if it allows us to get Schwarzer then I think its a good deal, would also give Wilshere the opportunity to get more games in different positions. Interesting game taking place at Dublin today, Arsenal Reserves vs Manure Reserves in the platinum Challenge. The likes of Cleverley and Gary Neville are in Manure's squad while we've got most of the guys just promoted to the first team in ours, should give us a glimpse into who has the better players coming through the ranks something becoming increasingly important now that both teams are going down the development of unknown players route. |
kolitos007:No offence taken matey and welcome on board. I don't take such things to heart my confusion has always been what kicked off the rant anyway, I clearly stated it was a rumour and still can't understand why you took exception to it, even Arsenal.com had a rumour section early on. It must be something to do with the domestic issues you had. Hope yu've sorted it now though? would hate for a fellow gooner to be fished out of the Thames. ![]() Also, I think we both need to tender an apology to the entire thread for our misdemeanour and hope we're forgiven. kolitos007:To be honest, I share some of your concern, another Silvestre scenario wouldn't be positive for Le Prof's reputation at all but then beggars aint choosers. Anyone with some more info about the guy's recent performances and potential worries? So lookin forward to Debo's take on this. ![]() |
kolitos007:If you respond to my post again, I will report you as a troll. You have been warned. I don't have time for people who have nothing meaningful to say but are only interested in insults and trading abuse, if thats what rings your bell, you've taken on the wrong person. |
@proudlynaija I don't have time for the guy, I have a sneaking suspicion its someone I've had a skirmish with before on this forum who is logging in under another name and trying to wind me up. Bloke must live a very sorry existence. What he is saying makes no sense at all. I can't understand what a clear statement such as I've made has to do with where I live. We sure have some looneys prowling the net. @James Bond wannabe You can kindly speak to the hand, I'm not responding to you any longer. |
proudly9ja:I noticed that too on the soccernet site, I then went into his game log and found out he had more appearances. Still cause for worry though. |
mystikal:Exactly, and I've not asked anyone to treat it anymore than a rumour, it is clearly stated that it is a rumour. How much clearer does one need to be? ![]() |
Watch this space, strong rumors are emerging in France that we've signed Sebastian Squillaci from Sevilla. Spahic could have been a smokescreen. At least Debo can't fault this one if it is true. ![]() |
