Politics / Re: Amnesty For Boko Haram Is Wickedness - Oritsejafor by duen23(m): 2:05am On Apr 08, 2013 |
With the majority of comments here supporting a deal for amnesty, it's quite obvious to see why Nigeria is in the state it is today. Questions like, 'If you are not for amnesty, propose a solution to the BH crisis' are plain silly. We have one of the worst intelligence agencies in the world so naturally, the solution is to give children and women murderers a pass instead of making anything work in this country. There is a reason the United States doesn't negotiate with terrorist. It's because once you bow to the demands of a terrorist group, what's to stop you from bowing to the demands of another when you've already set the precedent? In Nigeria, this question is even more pertinent. You have people who take up arms against the state being hugely rewarded. If a group springs up tomorrow and kills enough people simply because they don't lilke people who wear white, will people say, 'though it's unreasonable, it's the only solution so let's give them amnesty?' |

We r d reason y dis country aint mvin 4wrd period US president Bill Clinton was embarrassed and impeached by the house of representatives for allowing Monica Lewinsky blow him. The media reported extensively on this and late night political jokes host mocked the US president everyday for this. George Bush was made fun of for his numerous gaffes and lack of knowledge on basic issues. Lots of late night host were sad when he left office for the simple reason that they would have to work harder for material. Numerous congress men have had their secret gay lives exposed by the media and were forced to subsequently resign. Which of the above has ever been done by the media in Nigeria? We as a people seriously have to open our mind beyond what surrounds us. The world is a big place and we sometimes forget this when we are surrounded by mediocrity. I can't imagine a show like 'The daily show' or 'The Colbert report' being made in Nigeria because the host of those shows will definitely be killed or networks will refuse to air those shows yet the one thing we don't lack in Nigeria is an abundance of inept political leaders who don't think (most probably the lack the ability to think) before they talk simply because the know the media is too scared to ridicule them. That's why you have people like Opuke (the dude that said Jonathan has nothing to explain for pardoning Alams) because they know nothing will be done by the media. You are sorely misguided if you think US journalist care about protecting the image of the US government. Most journalist in the US are principled (or at the very least want to break a story that will earn them a Pulitzer). How do you think abuses at Guantanamo bay got to be known by the public? Because it enhanced the reputation of the U.S? 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Jonathan: Our Greatest Challenge Is Our Attitutude Not Corruption. by duen23(m): 9:34am On Dec 31, 2012 |
Man is inherently a sinner. Meaning, he will always try to do what's wrong until he grows a conscience. What makes little children steal money from their parents purse? They want some candy (read the better things in life). This kid has no reason to change his attitude if his mum keeps indulging his habit or giving him a 'stern warning'. He might or might not change if a cane is brought into the equation but 'might change' is better than won't change. You need laws to deter people from being corrupt because man is always gonna test the law and if he finds the consequence agreeable, he has no reason to change. The system and not individuals have to change. Men of God have tried far longer trying to convince people that pre marital sex is bad. Have people stopped having sex? In Nigeria right now, they are people that obey they law but see other people who blatantly abuse it get rewarded. What's their incentive to be law abiding citizens? Peoples attitude have to change, but it's wishful thinking to think they will change without a seismic change in the system |

CHESSBOARD:This is probably the dumbest quote I have read here. The SSS is probably corrupt or incompetent. Pray tell. In a sting operation where you have video and audio of a lawmaker receiving a bribe, you let the criminal walk out of their for months with no way of recovering your money? They should all be sacked and then probed (preferably with a Love Machine). They only reason why he should have been allowed to walk out of there with $600,000 of the governments money is if they wanted to see which one of his colleagues would accept the money. No explanation as to why he wasn't apprehended once he accepted the money has been brought up. This is criminal! |
Phones / Re: Android Vs Symbian Phones, Which Is Better? by duen23(m): 11:52am On Jun 01, 2012 |
dmainboss: Just one question then. If Symbian is so wonderful, why is Nokia changing over to Windows Phone 7 and winding Symbian down?Microsoft has stopped support for windows xp and they are still companies and individuals who still insist on using it. |
Phones / Re: Android Vs Symbian Phones, Which Is Better? by duen23(m): 11:50am On Jun 01, 2012 |
And another thing. I monitor 'this and that' to make sure my battery life is longer is not a plus. They average phone user does not want or need to know the inner workings of a phone nor should they. You don't buy a phone to learn how to use. To quote Steve Jobs, it should 'just work'. Unless you are a developer, which very few people on here are, pack yourself for corner. That is why new phones with the same features and very little tweaks are being released everyday. There is a whole bunch of people who just want version 2.0 so they can brag about features they will only use for less than a month. |

What I could never understand is why people are always screaming about the amount of apps android or apple has. How many are actually useful? Scratch that. How many are useful in Nigeria? Of what good is it to know your body temperature if you ain't already ill? You walk around telling your friends 'Hey man, I am at 54 degrees Celsius, know what I mean? Just yesterday I was at 106 degrees Celsius so everything is really working out'. What however is important in a phone is the battery life. I can't use all that cool stuff if my phone is off and NOKIA and symbian belle more than delivers. I stand to be corrected but all the really important things you can do on an android, can be done on symbian belle. I like how folks come here and act like the use their phones to do things other than chat, browse, email, calls, text, photos, video (symbian belle devices have 720p video recording- (i am into video), music, games. How many people check the weather? I dey wait. 1 Like |

@ http://www.chronxmedia.com./ your course is N400,000? you must be having a laugh. For that amount, I buy a laptop with a core i7 processor, 2gb NVIDIA graphics card by a modem, pay for a months unlimited download and download tutorials from torrents and other sites and still have change to probably get a DSLR camera for video. Not knocking your hustle but we 'in the know' know when people are getting ripped off. greyscalegorilla.com, videocopilot.com are good sites for anyone willing to start. In my opinion, cinema 4D is an easier 3D software to learn and loads of 'free material' exist. I do hate it when people get something for free and decide to use what the got for free to make a profit. If you have to do that, make your animations and profit from them. Not from people wanting to get started. 3 Likes |
TV/Movies / Ultimate Test Of Self Control by duen23(m): 8:15am On May 25, 2012 |
Hey everyone. First time poster. For movie buffs like us, we literally can't wait to see a new movie. Sometimes, It is worth the hype, other times, not so much. I am a huge game of thrones fan. I am currently waiting for season 2 to be over (two episodes left) before I start watching. I have all 8 episodes so far. I just had a crazy thought. What if I watched an episode at the exact same time every week? That is, 10 weeks to finish the entire series. Will that be the ultimate test of self control? |

Cupidkc:Yeah. Other places dey but you don hear how much oil workers dey collect? When I say 'If you want too earn more' I mean 'earn more honestly'. If you don't mind how you earn it, be a politician . |
Politics / Re: IG: Constables To Earn N50000 by duen23(m): 4:17pm On May 23, 2012 |
No where in the world are the police paid handsomely. Granted, 28, 000 Naira is too low and encourages people to be corrupt but that is too simplistic an answer. Our lawmakers earn millions but are still corrupt. Should you increase their pay so they will be less corrupt? A corrupt individual will not change because he earns more. There is something as selfless service. If you really want to be rich, get a degree in anything that will get you into the oil sector. If however, you want to serve, you should NOT expect to earn huge amounts of money. |

lacasa:Sadly, this is the Nigeria we live in. How does a first lady promote literacy when She is clearly illiterate? Someone will soon come on here with the classic 'English is not my language' crap. You are thought in English at all schools in the country, what you should be saying is 'I don't have the ability to absorb knowledge when taught' because that is what it is. I see people point a finger at France and say 'even their president speaks french when in public' to that i say 'well, France doesn't have 23 languages now do they?' We speak English because it is easier to learn one language than to try to learn all the languages in Nigeria (or three(Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba ) as people would prefer). |

abokine: What is our president doing at the moment? Imagine a first lady publicly accusing her husband of failing Nigerian. I'm beginning to believe that there is no hope for this county at all.I honestly don't think our 'leaders' fully comprehend the implication of what they say. Goodluck has indicted himself before by saying the military in Nigeria is below international standard (implication being 'I am doing a piss poor job as Commander in Chief of the armed forces' and also saying Boko Haram are within my government meaning 'I know them but I am unable to do anything about them'). |

Romance / Re: Does Giving Your Girlfriend Money Means Showing Love? by duen23(m): 11:48am On Mar 14, 2012 |
Rocktation: Wow. That's some jedi mind trick right there. Can I make the assumption that you are for giving her money even if they both are not in love? A friend once said to me that every girl is a love peddler. He said hos want the cash, girls who think they ain't hos want to be wined and dined. I don't agree with this, though I thought it funny. Demanding for pay then flaring up when it isn't forth coming is petulant and points to the girl being a kid (or having the mind of one). I believe kids shouldn't be in relationships. |

jambogini: This is the reason i find it difficult to have a relationship with a nigerian women, since there mind is centered on what they will get from the man, plz OP@ Tell her frankly that you are not a banker, but also consider if she has good intention to ask u for her needs,I bet it's the other way around. Family / Re: Pregnancy: How Did This Happen Again? by duen23(m): 1:47pm On Mar 01, 2012 |
Let me just say this. Murder is murder and abortion is the worst kind of murder there is. Killing a defenseless baby isn't 'modern' as some people here infer. It's cowardice. I respect people who are man (woman) enough to live with the consequences of their actions. You had fun and yeah, they're many people out their are regular bed hoppers but do not have the tell tale tummy bulge to shame them (if u want to look at it that way) but it doesn't mean you should view your self as unlucky and compound your problem. I am by no means perfect. No one is. I understand that it will be doubly hard for you to face your parents seeing that you have been knocked up once already. Lemme tell you this. A grand child is a grand child. All the humiliation you will receive from your parents will melt away once the set eyes on that bundle of joy. Don't listen to people who claim to be modern. Many women who have undergone this procedure carry the guilt to their graves. Which is understandable really. Mothers are naturally inclined to protect their young. |
