Hello everyone, I trust all is well.
I received my certified and sealed transcripts and Certificate from my school in November, however, before I got to send it to IQAS for evaluation, they put a notice indicating they would not receive any new applications until May 2020.
I still have the sealed documents with me, in the same state. Will I need to get the transcripts from my school again certified in a recent date or I can just submit this one dated November last year? |

[quote author=engrtoib post=88227573]Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it. My challenge is being a total novice with the language, self training will no doubt be really challenging. Notwithstanding, I will still do my best while I wait for the lockdown to be over so that I can look for a professional teacher.
Yes, having a teacher and a class of few individuals seem to be the better option. "You speak to learn, you don't learn to speak" seems to be the thing with learning a foreign language. So daily practice with someone who speaks French will be good.
However, the challenge at the moment is this covid-19.
I'm also waiting to get a physical class. If you know any French learning whatsapp group, kindly PM me so I can join. |

engrtoib: Hello friends. Please o how do I begin to learn French. I am a total beginner. I will appreciate a honest guide on how to begin so that I can write the TEF exam. Please as a complete beginner how long is it likely going to take me to study before I can get a decent result ? I am in Abuja, I will be glad if anyone can suggest a good study centre.. Thanks. I am a beginner too, in my third week of personal study. I do at least 3 hours a day learning the grammar structure, and vocabularies. I find "Learn French with Alexa" to be good, her technique of teaching helps me understand the language rules. I also use memrise.com, and duolingo. With the grammar and vocabularies, I now try to structure sentences. Hopefully soon I can do a paragraph. I listen to songs while looking at the lyrics to identify the few words I know, and also look at Twitter updates in French. Where I feel I need an explanation, I reach out to my French speaking friend to guide. I will enroll for classes at Alliance français when everything goes back to normal hopefully. You can start with personal study. |

WhyNa: It's been a while I updated.
Honestly, it was partly due to some things I read here. Y'all have to understand that I'm not being paid for this and I take my time to write and snap pictures when I go out just so I can share with people back home or around. I have never lied about anything here. Instead I give information exactly as experienced.
To the lady who said my statement sounds fishy, I hope you are able to come back here after you go to the Embassy and you're sent away because you don't have a visa approval letter from Vietnam. I repeat again, Visas come from Vietnam. Please when you read, try not to skip any page because I gave step by step explanation of the process I took with explanation and reasons.
To the guy who said I need a large dose of humility, I'm sorry if I offended you but am I wrong for speaking the truth? For saying I don't know it all and people should do some research cos I may have missed some things during my own research?
Anyways, back to my update....
Schools are still closed as you must have seen in the news. I must really commend the Vietnamese government, those guys are doing a great job I swear. People have resorted to teaching online or one on one including me
Asides my bike lessons, I'm also picking up and learning some basic words in Vietnamese and making new friends and trying out new foods.
About the food, so far, out of about 10 or so different dishes I've tried, it's only one I didn't like. Enjoy...... You were right to ask people to do their on research, don't mind the negative response. I remember seeing you on a South African lady's thread on teaching in china. You were determined, here you are now in Vietnam. Where there is a will, you will look for ways, learn, read, try and eventually you find your way. |

etrange: Hi everyone!
Glad to see the positive spirit here.
I just want to encourage everyone to hang in there regardless of how tough it seems to be. Studying French has multiple advantages asides from the immediate obvious one of increasing your CRS. Take this from someone who's been keenly following the Canadian labour market trends. As a software developer, I realised there are many people with my skill set here; multilingualism instantly became my selling point. To better appreciate my point, take your time to review most of the job boards in Canada. You'll see that roles that require multilingualism pay up to 20% more than their monolingual counterparts. Most of these roles are in Quebec though but that shouldn't be a problem if you take steps to manage the expectations of the prospective employers.
How do you manage their expectations? Do your French language evaluation with YMCA on arrival. It's just like any other French exam evaluating your strength in the four areas of language studies and it's free. Each area is graded on a scale of 1 to 8. With this result, you'd be referred to government sponsored institutions where you could continue your classes for free. But asides this, you should always mention this result to a prospective employer when interviewing for bilingual roles. This helps them place your level accordingly without over expecting thus reducing the pressure on you.
Regardless of the province you choose to land in, do not close your eyes to these bilingual jobs. If you could move from Africa to North America, you can always move from Ontario/Alberta to Quebec.
Wish you all the very best! Nice to read this, amidst my dilemma with the French language. |

Education › Learning French, And Spanish. Possible Benefits. by Dulles25(op): 3:19pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
Hello everyone, so I have been in a constant dilemma between learning French and Spanish, or just not learning either at all.
I love the thought of being able to learn a new language, it seems a pleasurable challenge watching a documentary or reading articles in different languages.
So I am considering going for French lessons first being the most complicated, Spanish seem the easier one to learn, and can be done online.
French might be of benefit if ever embark on the Canadian journey, but what of Spanish ? Maybe if I further my studies in Spain.
Other than the above two reasons, what are the other benefits of either or both languages ? Would it be a wise move to consider learning them or it's a waste of time being in my 20s.
Anyone who has learnt a new language in their adult life? |

Would have made a 3rd class in the university if I could constantly read long epistles like this This is an issue of intellectual fraud, plagiarism. I would love to know more about their Food and Agricultural Law LLM program. Besides that, how reputable is the school for Environmental Law masters program. I have googled but I would love to hear from the perspective of a former or current student in the mentioned school.
I would contact their admissions coordinator or office to link me up or shed more light on this. How is the school like for an international student, is it possible to find maybe an associated law center to work while studying for stipend? How expensive is life in Vermont?
Life in Vermont is cheap and don't expect diversity in the student body, the place be like village for here. Generally, you can not work outside in your first year, so expect to start working after the first year.
I understand food and Agricultural Law is a specialized flied, I doubt many would be interested in, so is it a small class and do they offer funding that would cover quite a percentage of the tuition fee leaving me with just a small percentage to pay from my pocket.
You should contact the admissions office to get this information.
I am sorry if this does not meet your expectations, but I am confident you'll get what you need from the info up there. Thank you for the detailed response. I will contact the admissions office. |

NwaAmaikpe:

Chai. I hope those overzealous Shi'ites won't start hunting US citizens in Nigeria? I pity all those fake celebs who have been flaunting their "born in America" kids.
By this, it is apparent that the U.S.of A considers Nigeria a likely ally of Iran given the silence of it's leader to the broiling matter and considering the global attention of the frequent IMN clashes with the military. Or maybe they are just being cautious.
So for all of those on here asking America to start the war already....I hope you are no where near Nigeria. Because if the war starts, it will surely escalate to a global religious war.
There will be no internet access, those cheap Tecno phones that have always served as bragging tools here on NL will solely serve as flashlight as you wander through the swamps in the dark seeking for refuge in Panya and the inner Congos.
Don't lead America on please.
They have so much to lose because Americans are actually naturalized citizens of other countries. So ultimately the chicken will be home to roost. That is why the world is jittery....Because Iran is not just a regular Islamic country.
We are all scared. There is no worse threat than a potential nuke war and I tell you...the safest place to be in if another world war starts is in the grave. You write so well, do you offer writing classes? I like how I can read through your long paragraphs and want to keep reading. Perhaps lack of this writing skill is what denied me a good job with a human rights organization. |

I know of those from Nigeria selling human hair bundles, and they are trying. I don't know how affordable they are in Nigeria, that they manage to double their profit. You can look into that, among other business.
While at it, focus on areas with many students as they are the most consumers of hair and beauty products. You can stay along Thika road, or even better in Rongai. Rongai has affordable housing, and internet supply.
Aside from the business, try working online too. You can do online writing, or Amazon surveys( This you can get about 300 dollars a month just doing it from home)
There's always something to do.
