Hello All,

Can someone confirm if it is true that it is no longer possible to create an account on NASD OTC Securities Exchange?

There are some 11plc (Former Mobil Nigeria) shares i want to sell since last year but my stock broker keeps saying the portal is down and they cannot open an account for me on that platform.

crownprince2017:
Yesterday's White House Shooting Shows That America Needs Peace Just As Much as Nigeria...Or Maybe Even More!

Yesterday, there was a serious shooting incident near the White House, and the American seat of government had to be placed on lockdown to protect President Trump and his key officials after two National Guard soldiers were shot and critically wounded.

I am grateful that President Trump is safe, as this is obviously a man ordained by God who has already done much good and is destined for even greater things on Earth.

Yesterday's event is a reminder of how God saved President Trump from a domestic terrorist, Thomas Crooks (what a befitting name!), who attempted to take out the then former President on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

This is part of the growing gun crime crisis in the United States. Each year in the US, over 40,000 people die from gun-related incidents. That is more than ten times the number of Nigerians who die from terror-related incidents, according to the Global Terror Index, which put terror-related deaths at 565 in their latest GTI (please see https://www.economicsandpeace.org/report/global-terrorism-index-2025/).

America is the world's greatest country; nevertheless, it has its own issues. Its society is not perfect. And if those Nigerians now calling for President Trump to invade Nigeria relocate to the United States, being Black, they will stand a higher chance of being victims of gun violence than those in Nigeria.

Yes, Nigeria has security challenges, but when was the last time you heard of a shooting close to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa?

Do not be fooled. The rich also cry, and all that glitters is not gold.

No matter how bad things get in Nigeria, we have never had a year in which over 40,000 people were either killed or severely injured in gun crimes, as happens in the United States.

Therefore, stand with Nigeria and President Tinubu as the government and our gallant armed forces work to make Nigeria a secure place for all Nigerians, irrespective of their religion, region, or political affiliation.

Good new for reserves: $50bn becoming more realistic
Good news for naira: we should move below 1400 in a matter of days
Good news for the market: CBN should be comfortable with another 2-300 bps cut.

Most outlets are reporting over subscription, i am wondering what the interest rate is compared to previous one.

Can you leverage the NGX as a developing market and use compound interest to solve money problems down the line? Here’s a proof of concept: you just had a child and your plan is to give her the best education and life possible. You have ₦6 million in cash. You know that won’t go far, so you come to this thread. Unlike many people who want to double or triple their money with huge risks, you have 10 years incubation and want steady, minimal risk.

You start with 35%. It’s not much, but if you can get it consistently year after year, it’s very doable. In the beginning it’s easier, but as your capital grows, you can drop to 30%, then 25%, and eventually 20% per year. After 10 years, you step down to a consistent 15% annually, which can give you a steady ₦10 million every year withdrawal.

Of course, we also pray leaders like Tinubu don’t jack up inflation again. Less stress—simply using fundamental analysis and matching it with information in this space. Don’t have ₦6 million? Then start with ₦3 million. Ten years down the line, you’ll have ₦5 million earning at consistent 15% per year.
This looks interesting. I have a few questions. Where do you get the 35% from, price appreciation, dividend or injecting more funds into the pool?

Where do you get 35% appreciation from? Stock market does not do conistent yearly appreciation, there will be bear years. How can this work in a volatile market like the stock market. I think this could be feasible in a fixed income market

So why didn’t this same factor work in Buhari’s era against Jonathan. The currency also officially depreciated from 197 to over 300 as at 2017 and was almost 500 in the parallel market at that time (from 216 under Jonathan).
Also in the 8 years of Buhari up to 2023, when the official currency depreciated to 450 and the parallel market 750 (almost 3.5 times depreciation), there wasn’t a better inflow of FPI compared to what was found under Jonathan or Obasanjo.

Same for people that leave nigeria and start seeing Nigerians as dumb.

You said importers were to be blamed?

You fail to see they thrived on the failure of the government to provide solutions.

So people that import generators, solar power are destroying the country? Nigerians should wait for the governemnt to provide 24 hours power supply?

Importers thrive when there is a gap to be filled. Nature abhors vacuum.

If the textile industry were producing high quality products at affordable rates, the importers will go out of market and would not have a bussiness to do.

Same applies in all industries.

Native Intelligence should be a combination of Emotional Intelligence and Social Intelligence. Leading people and organizations to deliver results successfully is not directly related to one's IQ but rather to one's Emotional Intelligence & Social Intelligence. It's also worth noting that having high IQ doesn't automatically mean one is gifted with a high EI or SI

Below are some definitions from Meta AI to help in getting a better view of the definitions of IQ, EI and SI so as not to mix them all up as the same thing.

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is a score derived from standardized tests designed to measure human intelligence, particularly cognitive abilities such as reasoning, problem-solving, and thinking.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) refers to the ability to recognize and understand emotions in oneself and others, and to use this awareness to guide thought and behavior, enabling effective relationships and decision-making.

Social intelligence refers to the ability to effectively navigate and negotiate complex social relationships and environments. It's a multifaceted construct that involves several key components, including social awareness, social cognition, social skills and behavior, and empathy and perspective-taking.¹

Think of social intelligence like a Swiss Army knife of social skills, with each tool serving a specific purpose. It's what allows us to understand others' motivations, empathize with their feelings, and respond appropriately in various social contexts.

In essence, social intelligence is about being able to read the room, understand the unspoken rules and expectations, and adapt your behavior to different social situations. It's a vital skill that can make all the difference in our personal and professional lives.² ³
To me the best to have is social intelligence.

People like Sabinus, Whizkid, Davido, Osimehn, Taooma, Don Jazzy, Nathaniel Bassey, Omoni Oboli, Funke Akindele did they need hi IQ to be at the level they are in life? Let me even add Pastor Adeboye, Oyedepo, Sam Adeyemi, Jerry Eze, ..... the list is endless

These people i mentioned and their likes have been able to make a difference in the world and global scene.

So high IQ is not a yard stick for measuring success

Hello!

First of all. Please forgive some of my typos. I am typing this in very busy place.

I am been following this thread and one thing I have come to realize is most of you are matured and well experienced in the game.

Now I have been sobar for some months now. I

I am a freelancer. I earn well for my age (21) heading to 22 coming January, and My goal entering 2024 was to up my earnings through Amazon KDP. But I am still here doing the same freelance from last year. To be honest school also contributed because I am in my final year, so it has been hectic for me to engage in other things aside my freelance and education.

With the knowledge I have gathered I am sure after school I can up my earning with both freelance and kdp into at least a thousand dollar monthly.

Now the big issue is, I used to think making money at a young age was the problem. But it isn’t the problem is how you use the money and invest it for your future.

I have seen and heard several stories of people who used to ball at their young age but are now broke in their 40s. Those kind of stories scare me to the core.

I have been on several threads looking for what to do with my life. I have been in the Federal Government job thread observing if I can buy a job (in case of job security) I have been in tbe crypto thread, Japa thread, and a lot more.

Though most of the information they share there are good. Most of them have their risks on the other side. Which is why I have come here to seek the advise of made men and women.

Please what kind of investments and moves should I make to secure my 40s from any tsunami. Is it business? shares? savings? Japa from Nigeria? Buying a federal job I can fall back too? Or going back to school and study medicine?

Also is it advisable to get married at a young age. Let say mid 20s. Some people say it helps to sharpen you think faculty and help you become a better and more responsible man. While others say it’s a bad move in this present Nigeria.

I am a computer science student , and have some tech skills which is why I am considering Japa. But Ai Dey make me think twice

Please help me! I need advices. I am a young man and want to secure my future and that of my unborn kids.
Bro, you are in the right thread.

I will advise, you try and read this thread from begining to the end. Take your time. You are still young. By the time you finish, you will know what to do with your current income.

You are doing the right thing.

The rooted problem has existed since its inception, as the then-government failed to enact sufficient legislation to checkmate these Forex-sucking company.
MTNN is indeed unavoidable and undesirable. It single-handedly brought Nigeria to its knees by siphoning $14 billion out of the economy.
Following the paltry regulatory fine of $1.5 billion, which they paid without admitting guilt, I always knew they would get back at the government.
I wonder why the Nigerian government didn't seize the opportunity to nationalise MTNN.
The story of the MTNN scandal, perpetrated with Nigerian collaborators, made me realise that some Nigerians hate Nigeria with passion. The same was true for the P&ID scandal.
MTNN role in Nigeria's current inflation cannot be understated.

Do you know that MTN is one of the companies keeping Nigeria alive?

You avoid the politicians to come and blame MTN for the economic woes nigeria is facing?

All the inputs to production of MTN are imported, from technology used to run their network, to power generating sets used to power their sites.

The cost of diesel doubled under 12 months, the dollar that they use to import their equipment doubled.

It is a suprise that they did not go under.

Like I said above, against what many think, the actual exchange rate is less of our problem. [/b]What we need is a stable/fairly predictable rate and the right macroeconomic policies.

No need stressing over these things. Macroeconomic capabilities are not rocket science.

CBN threw loads at to defend the naira at 1500. This was well predictable a few werks back. I remember stating that.

Ultimately I think 1k would be a tough nut to crack. We might get a few dips below but finally settle above.
Just like with mose previous rounds of devaluation and CBN intervention where wide irrational swings are followed by a period of calm in which underlying market drivers then determine the next move.

In the coming months, I expect the currency to stabilise above 1k (happy to be proved wrong). What happens next would not be based on emotions but underlying market principles. If the government has got it right with the economy, the currency would reflect that.

I for one would be quite glad if local growth in our economy can lead to either rapid wage rise or a drop in exchange as people have had less and lesss in real terms over the last decade.
I spoke with a banker friend of mine, who told me that it was Binance that was manipulating the naira rate.

That because a lot of unofficial transactions were going through Binance, Binance was able to influence the exchange rate.

Now that Binance is banned the CBN became the biggest supplier of forex.

So lets watch by how much, the CBN can control the market.

I have to give them kudos for having the balls to take on Binance.

Not in the way you expect. Inflation affects everything in the same manner. Assume you have N200,000, and you intend to buy an Air Conditioner unit. You visit the market, and the seller informs you that the final price is N220,000. Unable to raise the full amount, you decide to invest in a 2-year bond with the expectation of returning with more funds to buy the AC later. However, you return after two years only to discover that the same AC unit is now being sold for N550,000. The amount you receive from the bond after the 2-year waiting period is only N280,000.
In addition your ability to buy a brand new AC is now reduced, your purchasing power is reduced.

I saw the unconfirmed report. But have you asked yourself why anyone will sell over 10k dollars at the black market in Abuja at a rate that is significantly lower than CBN and licensed BDC rates? Funny. Do you still think that an ordinary Nigerian is behind this?
Oga Allow people to continue with their beliefs, with time they will get matured and understand you.

A lot of people are waiting for dollar to hit 600 - 700 so they can accumulate more and japa.

Since the naira lost value a lot of people could not meet up with POF for Japa and pay school fees abroad, cheap dollar will make them to be able to meet the rquirements and most will mop up the dollars again.
