Ordinarily when you are to buy or sell shares the other partner to the deal is not known.
In the case of cross deals, both the buyer and seller know each other one way or the other.

There is always a pre-determined price for the deal between both parties irrespective of the current market price.

Unlike normal purchase/sale order the cash involved don't get to the stockbroking account apart from the charges which in most cases is charged to the buyer's account depending on the agreement anyway.

So cross deals are not market manipulation it's just a type of buy/sell between known parties.
And it is a good sign right?

Whenever I see cross deals or trades regarding stocks, it just screams insider deals or trades. I just get the feeling that someone has gotten wind of some information that is not yet out in the public space.
A lot of companies have been having cross deals in the past few weeks.

Maybe it is the foreign investors Oracle was talking about.

It's cross deals.......
Some transactions are picked at premium......
Some picked a bit high to accommodate the volumes required....
Okay, i see,

They are cross deals. The price is already agreed on and will not change no matter what is going on in the market.

You will get it for N23.80 If you buy at the Market price.
I know. It is being bought at N23.80.

But it is curios is that I saw offers at N23.75 and people were still buying at N23.80.

Abeg elders, abeg what is Presco earnings saying? With my inexperienced eyes I see it screaming buy buy buy.

And the declared dividend is massive
There is something i find interesting going on on the floor of the market.

You GTCO 13million offers at 23.80 and 42k bids at 23.75.

Logic says that the bids at N23.75 will be picked up, but is not the case.

Book trades are showing that the stock is being bought at N23.80.

Does it mean someone is deliberately buying at a higher price when there are cheaper bids?

My dear brother, I'll share a story with you here. NLPC used to own a Pension Management License before the advent of the Pension Reform Act 2004 and had a lot of corporate and mega oil and gas institutions under their management. When PRA 2004 kicked in, their Managing Director at that time pushed that they should surrender the PFA license and get a PFC license instead.

Years later when organizations like ExxonMobil, Mobil Oil, Central Bank of Nigeria, NEPA, etc moved their accounts to companies like Stanbic IBTC PFA, PAL PFA, ARM PFA and were earning fat fees during those mad capital appreciation days, they realized the folly they had made because they saw their income drop drastically. The Managing Director who recommended the strategy was told to leave. NLPC had to submit that PFC license to apply for a PFA license which they hold today.

I even remember Mr Fola Adeola and some of his team members at GTB saying at an event that he regrets not resigning from the PRA Reform 2004 board at that time because it denied GT Bank PLC the opportunity to partner with ARM PFA to set up a PFA then because of potential conflict of interest issues that some industryplayers would have raised. This would have made them a behemoth in the banking and non-banking financial industry at that time using their commercial banking and bank assurance network nationwide. He has even boasted that Stanbic IBTC for no smell anything near wetin dem get today as Retirement Savings Account customers (over 1 million RSAs).

PFC money na small money compared to the money PFA wey get lots of accounts dey see. PFCs are just like your custodian in the same business warehousing the funds. They don't charge investment management fees or incentive fees.

cool
I tend to agree with you. The PFAs are the ones that use the money to make investments and I am sure to get a cut when they make money which is in millions if not billions. The PFC just hold the cash and get a cut because they are holding the money in safe keeping.

But PFAs decide and put the money to use like buying bonds, Treasury bills, stocks and they get a cut of the money made from those transactions.

High sugar price means anything that uses sugar as raw material or additives will have severe price inflation.

FSDH Capital

Stanbic IBTC Stockbroker

Meristem Securities

Chapel Hill Denham.

It is just a matter of time it must fly. The Investment houses came late sef. They came in when it was over N20, they didn't identify the value some of us saw when it was N15
I use FSDH, they say they do not produce buy list anymore. I also use Stanbic, they said they do not send out stock picks.

(Do your due diligence as this is my opinion)

Near term (to Long term) prices if there is a parabolic move on NSE index and stocks.

JB 100 to 120
WAPCO 150+ if not more.
Dangote cement 450 to 500
Seplat 2k5+
Nestle 3K+

Flourmill needs to spike out of control towards 200 to 300. Food crisis will get severe and man must chop

Conoil 300+
Total 600+
FO 450+
Transcorp 15+

Bua cement is about to breakout. It will be rapid. Soon people go begin drink cement.

For the Brewers, I gave possible price targets earlier. Because when economy/globe good, you drink to celebrate. But when economy/globe bad, you drink to cure stress and depression.

For Banks, I gave possible price targets as well.

With these, NSE ASI will easily do 100K and above.

(Based on TA only. Fundamentals lag Technicals)

Again this journey will be swift.
It'd be like a train ride with Mr GSK.

The coys CMP still showing an over 81% discount (MoS peg from IV) even after detaching a 2.5x premium to current surrounding risk level in view of potential REWARD. (Here comes peace of mind)
...and that, using a very conservative valuation model.
Using the coys last financial print as yardstick, GSK should have NO business trading for N22.71.

In the stock market world, a cheap/undervalued asset isn't just one whose price is low in terms of VALUE or high in REWARD... but broadly one whose price is lower in terms of RISK and even higher in PEACE OF MIND.
...a wining investor must know how and when to relate in between !!

This Nugget is KEY !!

"Between uncertainties, difficulties and failures is the many 'gift packs' from the stock market.

Yet down inside, are even more 'packs' of OPPORTUNITY."

"The market will often present a discerning investor with 'souvenirs'.
Sometimes, they are even 'bigger gifts' for lesser monies.
The problem however is with knowing when to indulge it on an exchange.

GSK closed their manufacturing plants in NIgeria and outsourced their manufacturing to Fidson.

I am wondering if that makes economic sense.

Maybe it does, as Fidson will now bear all the risks associated with manufacturing in Nigeria (High cost of diesel, fuel scarcity...)

Interesting times ahead

Yet Zenith stock price fell from N32. 65 in February 2018 to N10.70 in March 2020. This was a 67% uninterrupted decline in price even when earnings were stellar and dividends increased.

At inflection point, irrespective of fundamentals things change. grin grin
But Zenith traded at N27 in 2020 but dropped to N10.70 the price of crude oil went down to zero or below cost price. There was price recovery but the price went down again due to devauation.

Not a case of half full nor empty.

Percentage increase or decrease is different from when you do devaluation.

Number can increase over 100% but currency cannot devalue 100%.

99% devaluation of the $-naira (assume 2016 exchange rate of N360 as reference) will bring the value to N36,000 per dollar. We are not in Iran o.
I still do not understand the part in bold.

Using 2015 as reference 1$ was equal to N200. Now it is N590.

N590 - N200 = N390, by how much is this devaluation?

I interpret it as Naira losing more than 100% of it 2015 value.

Letting A be the starting rate and B the final rate.

The percentage change of the Quote Currency relative to the Base Currency is

Percent Change = ((A − B) / B) × 100

The percentage change of the Base Currency relative to the Quote Currency is

Percent Change = ((B − A) / A) × 100

A positive change is appreciation and a negative change is depreciation.

Therefore:
Relative to USD, NGN Depreciated 38.98%.

Relative to NGN, USD Appreciated 63.889%.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Dum20: 11:58am On May 02, 2022
RabbiDoracle:
It is simple maths.

Naira goes from say N360 to N590, this is 39% devaluation loss.

If I brought in $1m and invested in an asset that rose from N2 to N12 (e.g UCAP) , let's break it down:

At $1= N360, my fund is N360m.

Excluding fees, I get 180m units of UCAP.

Sell at average of N12 and I get N2.16B excluding fees.

That is 500% gain in naira value.

Now exchange rate is $1= N590,

Final fund will be $3.66m, increase of 266% in dollar value.

This excludes dividends from the stock which when added beats devaluation of the currency.

Questions :
-Are you not basing your assumptions on hindsight( it has already happened)
-How do you find similar asset that is yet to attain such price like UCAP?
- If there are controls, how do you take your funds out?

1st question : Use foresight, research to find the new multi-baggers

2nd question : look around and you will see value. There are people whose job is to forecast possible selling price targets.

3rd question: Leave story. grin grin
You are toooooo much. I get the big picture now. grin grin grin grin grin grin

Not having argument with you either.

Yen is currently being devalued against USD. The same with Euro. Check EURUSD and USDJPY.

My point is when you see the index breakout, that is when media starts to talk of how FPIs are bidding the market. Try and use morningstar as your guide on level of FPI participation.

The markets with such negatives are the best ripe for a massive bull run.
Okay, I see. What you are saying is that the frequent devaluation of our currency is not a deterrent to funds coming in. In other words the returns they will make will outweigh the devaluations loss.

Me I do not want to wait to hear from media, I want to be inside the ride before the media starts talking

1 to 10 bonus will lead to increase in tradable shares and drop in price.

When NSE ASI breaks 2008 high and going to All Time High, you will be hearing news about such inflows.
I am not actually trying to argue with you but I am curious as to why foreign investors will bring in their funds when there are devaluations risks and other negative economic factors.
