LazyGold:

Ms. Folashade Salako, a final year student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has won the 2019 Shalina Young Talent Award (SYTA) where she was crowned as Nigeria’s “best Pharmacy brain” at a ceremony held at the Ibis Hotel, Lagos on April 8th.

Ms. Salako beat 360 contestants from some of Nigeria’s top Universities to scoop first place in this coveted competition which has been described as the biggest hunt for the best pharmacy brain in Nigeria.

The SYTA, in its first year in Nigeria, sets stringent criteria to challenge the brightest pharmaceutical talent in the country. “It is a talent hunt. The idea is to challenge our students to become sound and to realize that there is reward for the hard work they put into their studies” said Dr Kingsley Amibor, national chairman, Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria.

“This speaks to the idea of our constant innovation and drive to inspire young talent in Africa, in one of the world’s most dynamic industries,” added Mrs Shalina Clifford, CEO, Shalina Healthcare.

In his address delivered by Pharm. Okame Okah-Arae, the PSN boss said Kudos must also go to Shalina Healthcare for putting up this innovative programme.

“Competition like this, will always stimulate interest,” said National chairman of the Association of Community Practice of Nigeria, Pharmacist Samuel Adekola.

“Through this initiative, these young pharmacists would have a level of motivation and confidence that would impact a sense of excellence in them. Invariably, this would contribute significantly to the quality of graduating pharmacy students,” he said.

Well, I do not really care much about the system again but I think the only way to get things right in this country, is by doing the right thing at all level, regardless of who you are and the party you belong.

What I am saying is, if we continue with the mentality of "we are okay with it" or let things just be, even when they're wrong and morally not meant to be, then we can never get things right in this country.

We have got to be disciplined and sincere with ourselves in this country if we really must move forward.

And discipline means, doing the right thing at all times, convenient or not.

I agree with u bro, buh Atiku is noy better off..remember he was de custom boss.

ikewaterwater:
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP Presidential candidate in 2019 election who reacted to claims by President Muhammadu Buhari that his academic certificates are with the Nigerian Army, has stated that he can order the army to produce them if they exist. Atiku who countered the response Buhari gave to their petition filed before the Election Petitions Tribunal,  said  if it was true that  the certificates existed, Buhari as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces could order the army  to produce them.

The PDP Presidential candidate who said he attached his academic certificates to the Form CF001  he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, had urged the tribunal to declare them the authentic winner of the February 23 presidential  election,  insisting Buhari did not possess the educational qualifications he claimed to have in his INEC Form CF001.

The petitioners also stated that “the purported training and courses”, which Buhari claimed placed him “head and shoulders above” Atiku regarding  educational qualifications to contest the presidential election, “did not culminate in the issuance of any certificates he claimed in his  INEC Form CF001”. They also  described Buhari’s claim of being head and shoulders above Atiku as “erroneous”.

Politics / Re: NGF To Governors: Recession May Come In 2020, Prepare For Tough Time by DUNDEEMASTER(m): 11:22am On Apr 30, 2019
goldcoinhub:
The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) yesterday has warned the returning and newly elected state governors that recession may come in 2020 and so they should prepare ahead for tough times in their respective states.

The chairman of the group and governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, warned that there may be another cycle of recession from mid-2020 to the third quarter of 2021, the Guardian reports.

He gave the advice at the induction programme organised for the old and new governors at the NGF Secretariat, State House Conference Center, Abuja yesterday.

The NGF chairman told his colleagues that it would not be a smooth ride when they begin a new administration in their states.

“On our part, we made a lot of achievement in infrastructural development and provision of social services because we enjoyed a relatively high oil price of about $100 to $114 per barrel between 2001 and the middle of 2014.

“However, by the mid-2014, the price of crude oil, which is sadly the main driving force of government’s expenditure, dropped to $75 per barrel. It, therefore, became very difficult for many states to even pay salaries of their workers.

“This scenario is a wake-up call for all of you to be prepared to face this kind of challenge, especially since there is the possibility of another cycle of recession by mid-2020 and which may last up to the third quarter of 2021. Your good spirit of stewardship will make you contain the situation should there be one. Also, as members of the National Economic Council (NEC), you must work hand-in- hand to boost the economy in tandem with the global best practices.

Speaking further, he said:

“Experience, they say, is the best teacher. Ours has been a challenging experience of managing state economies that are totally dependent on accruals from the federation account rather than exploring viable alternatives to run the economy.

For most of the states, internally generated revenues are nothing to write home about. You must, therefore, look inward by boosting your revenue generation and also utilize them effectively for execution of projects that will touch the lives of your people. You must not forget the high expectations of our people from us; now that the democracy is maturing daily, the challenges of governance and service delivery are more demanding,” Yari said:

“Borrowing is never a reliable alternative to solving our economic problems. Key revenue agencies like the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Nigeria Custom Service must be made to work more effectively now that Mr. President has signed the much awaited national minimum wage law, pegging the minimum workers salary at N30,000 per month.”

He urged the incoming governors to strengthen tax laws to encourage Nigerians to pay.

He was spraying the money one by one, when it got exhausted, he brought out bundles of money and started throwing at the celebrant.
