You are allowing a lot of assumptions to spoil your day. What you need ARE REAL LIFE DATA FROM YOUR SYSTEM and not some presumptions. Spend some time over the next few days to monitor your inverter checking the panel voltage. How close to the values in the sticker or expected are you getting? Now multiply the highest panel voltage you saw by 2 and see how close it will be to 100v. If you get less than 80v you are extremely good to go. Quietly ask your installer to connect the panels in SERIES and enjoy life. If you get 80-90v ( I really doubt you will get that sha, in the picture you uploaded earlier I saw 35.4v, multiple by 2 will give you 70.8v) I will still advise you to connect by panels in SERIES. You have some headroom enough. BUT If you get greater than 90v, keep the second panel for now and plan to upgrade later. hoover420: Thanks, I think I’ll keep the panels and sell the inverter then. There is a caveat to this. In the days of Lead acid battery, it also meant that before you can be able to have power, you must have a certain number of batteries. 48 v needs four functional batteries BUT if you have four batteries for a 24v system and one becomes faulty, you will just remove it and made do with two. bassdow: it's not bad. Just not as good as 48v system.
Same way a 12v system ain't that bad; just not as good as 24v system.
Same way a 48v system ain't that bad, just not as good as a 96v system,
and so on.
It mostly depends on your kind of load. If running AirConditioners, and other high inductive loads, then if you care for efficiency and long term health of your batteries, your minimum should be 488v system and above.
For simple loads, 12v is good enough. Followed by 24v.
Then there are other not so obvious things such as, cost of breakers, wires, fuses, etc. The higher the voltage of the system, the cheaper they get. For example, wires are priced by thickNess and if you needed 16mm on 12v, for 24v, you might need 10m or less and for 48v, you probably need just 6mm. Same with other things.
Your batteries also runs cooler hence have many more years to serve you.
Of course if using solar panels, the higher thhe voltage, the hiigher is total wattage you could run. Most 12v system can't run beyond 700w to 800w but 24v system can ruun approximately 1,600w while 36v system would allow about 2,400w and 48v system would run at least 3,200w and so on

I know the guy don sell the CC but for record purposes the CC would have worked well. CCs can tolerate over panelling but not overvoltage. So, what the CC does is take the maximum of 1650w @24v and ignored the rest. Many people on this forum recognised that and overpanel for cloudy days where production may be severely affected. To determine the expected daily generation of the panels, a factor of 0.7 (inefficiency factor, wiring, distance, cloud cover etc) X total panels X hours of insolation. 2400w X 0.7= 1680w well within the range of the 1650w @24v. Benefit? He would have been making full use of his money without extra expenditure. There is absolutely certainty that four panels will be giving him about 1200w/h only bassdow: I feel like teaching you how to do the necessary calculations so you're able to help yourSelf BUT issue is, I have done that several times YET people rarely read previous pages hence I'm begining to see such as stressful and waste of time as no need doing something that wouldn't be utilized.

See the area I underLined in red, take the 1650w and divide it by the wattage of solar panels you want to use which is 400w in your case and whatever number you get, is the maximum number of 400w solar panels the charge controller can handle.
I underLined the 1650w because from your comment, your battery is 24v. if it's 12v or 36v, or 48v, or 96v, it would be different.
So 1650 / 400 = 4 which means you can use maximum of 4pcs of 400w solar panels.
A 48v battery, would allow up to 8pcs of same 400w solar panels.
of course, depending on configuration, you still need to ensure the total current and voltage remains within range.

A good example of voltage sag with tubular . You also didn't state the model or type of inverter you using as not all inverters are able to shutDown on low battery hence you might have ended up using the battery till it's too low that it died.
Another is, you probably bought fake batteries hence reason it's weakk within a Year. Even if you buy Lithium based batteries, should you repeat same mistake, expect similar result.
It's obvious even your charge controller is PWM. WhoEver setUp that system for you PROBABLY cashed out |

I will suspect that the BMS. 200amp discharge capacity @48v will be less than 10kw . Max solar voltage the Cc can take is 145v, hence max of 3 x400w panels in series in reality. You can decide to parallel another 3 but the harvest of that CC is capped at 1650w, hence almost 800w will be wasted. We have numerous ones. One for each building, most are 5-10kva in capacity. I bought one independent 5KVA last year. That was for a specific 2.8kva machine. You have to determine the load you want it to carry and determine the capacity. I will advice that you give a good head room for future additions if you want to use a central unit. Best to run a dedicated 110v line/sockets , connected to a central Step DOWN transformer close to the DB. Have been using that kind of setup at a place for more than 20 years ozone0801: Electricians in the house, I have a question? Meanwhile I found a way to check and the pump is just 1hp which I plan to try out tomorrow Saturday.
If the inverter could do non-inverter AC of 1.5hp and other kitchen appliances, I think this pump would be Bravi too on the moduler inverter. |

Nice question really but am not sure why the question if you are getting good backup and good use.
I have been using Sachet inverter for close to 4years - 5000W which is 5kw and it's serviced me more than enough at this point without troubling of its self consumption which is tremendously and significantly low with Tubulars until I got 8.3kwh lithium about two months ago and still serving.
Infact, one famous fellow here introduced me to it and he is using precisely same 5000w as we both stress it with microwave, AC, WM, fridge, freezer to it's max with no complain no regrets through and through... |

Depends on the amps you are charging with and the load on the 3.5kva inverter. If no load and the battery is being charged with very low amps, then yes. The pressure on the generator will be : 1) Idle load of the inverter 2) The amps you set on the inverter to charge with. 3) Any other load you connect to the inverter My experience is that the maximum it might be able to charge with will depend on the age of the engine of the generator. I had sent the pack back to him 3 times before. Within a week of getting it. It did the same thing, I sent it back. A few weeks later, same issue. In one occasion, I even sent it back from the motor park because the BMS will not come on!!! From the motor park o!! Later the guy started giving me attitude and made up my mind not to contact him again. I have since moved on and getting packs I need from other people. Recently got 3 packs from Valto, no issues. I have gotten 5 from him without issues BigDickProblems: Your best bet will be to contact the guy who built it. He will appreciate it too. |

Some cells were reading 0v, some read less than 1v and most between 1-1.5 and one read about 2v. I had only a 12v 6amp charger available. The charger had repair mode for lead acid batteries and was forced to use it. I broke the pack down to 12vs and connected the pack to the charger without BMS just to see if there is any hope for the cells. The charger will not initially charge but the repair mode woke them up and I have the four packs at about 12.3vs over the next 6 hours. I have since disconnected the charger and will see this weekend if there how much of charge they are able to hold |

More pictures . The BMS was burnt and had refused to connect earlier by Bluetooth BUT the balancer connected!!! Also 14 cells has absolutely no means of identification while two with identification seemed to have been patched on to the pack

Good day house. I got this locally assembled pack ,designated as 48v 6kwh, about 3 years ago connect to a 2.5kva Felicity inverter and a 60amp CC. It was a standalone off grid system connected to 1800w panels. I was called that the system just shut down about a month ago. It will not take a charge but still kept the CC on. The display on the battery indicated 38v and the CC automatically reverted to 24v and was displaying OVER VOLTAGE disconnect. I was not able to get to the location until two weeks later. By that time the battery displayed 17v! Unfortunately, I had lost some pictures taken before opening the box but kindly see some pictures.
