I am just a bit skeptic as how efficient the 24v will be as against 48v which supplies more power and possible produce a better pure sine wave
please correct me if am wrong is my assertion
The 24v or 48v talks about the voltage needed before the inverter can work NOT necessarily the CAPACITY of the inverter as per its ability to carry load or supply power to your appliances. Also the sine wave is NOT "purer" based on voltage!!!!!

Thanks. I will study this.

adrusa:
Below is a schematic I pulled from the internet. The contactor is wired as shown. The two switches, red and green are the two switches that control the contactor. When they are both on, the contactor closes and supply power to the pump. To use it for float switch or as a switch, you keep one of the two switches closed by connecting the terminals together without a switch in-between. Then you connect the float switch (or any other switch) to the second switch. When your tank is full, it pushes up your float switch and makes it horizontal. This will disconnect the contact in the float switch and switch off the contactor. When the float switch drops and becomes vertical, the contacts will be made and switch on your pump. I actually leave the other switch connected so that I can turn off the contactor/pump whenever I wish. If you don't connect the second switch, you will have no control over the pump, only the float switch will do the control.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by durodee(m): 3:21pm On Jan 28, 2020
adrusa:
Yes. The contactor will do the switching of the pump. The float switch will just switch the contactor. That way the high current needed to drive the pump will go through the contactor while only the very small current needed to switch the contactor will pass through the float switch. That way you will protect the float switch and not need to change it too often. I haven't had to change my float switch for about 5 years now. If the float switch powers the pump directly, it will get burnt and need to be replaced very frequently.
Oga, can you please draw a schematic outline for us non-technical people?
Gracias !

My pure sine wave inverter finally arrived in just 10days using China post and working perfectly after installing. No more humming noise and fear of my gadgets developing fault due to voltage fluctuations. Batteries now last longer compared to when I was using my former modified sine wave. It's definitely a 5star inverter & I'm very happy
Good one! Link seen.

hi Ola,

you're looking at something like this... the two separate battery banks can be independently charged with inverter or solar...

please, ensure you use a quality Change over switch. I used 100A A&Bt brand ... or you look for MG brand. confirm the thickness of the current-carrying part...

Hope this helps

cheers

And that polystar 1.5hp AC seems to have a friendly power draw of less than 1kw at full blast. Is it inverter AC?
I got both the AC and Binatone AVS from JUMIA. To the best of my knowledge when I purchased it , it was NOT stated as being an inverter AC.

We use nails. We also have flash bar (you can get this from those guy selling building materials) to seal where there is an opening that will lead to leakage.

After we finished installing the panels, we access the ceiling ie in-between the roof and ceiling, this area is always dark. So if you look at the roof from inside the ceiling, you will see holes or openings if there are any, then you can seal the roof with your flash bar from inside the ceiling too.

Sure I used the attached recommendation that I got from a friend after we brainstormed about it. Though I didn't get to plan for 12 anymore. I only did for 9 panels. Ingredients:

3" Galvanized poles
1.5" angle bars
12mm rods combined with 8mm that I had at home.

Welder put it all together and then the rest is getting it strongly fitted with concrete. It's standing now. Hopefully next weekend will get to move the panels.

Pictures?

As long as the asbestos roofing sheets are still strong, you should not have any issues. You may use a roofing guy as a precautionary measure if you are not sure of the status of the asbestos.

There are standard solar panels mounting kits sold here, those should help. But if you are low on budget, you can use those aluminium frames used for making windows frames as shown below.
Good one! How do you anchor those rails to the roof? Any special precaution? Thanks

Had this Binatone appliance connected to my 1.5HP Polystar AC. The readings have been strange. When plugged on it reads zero watts and as the compressor kicks in, the reading starts from around 600w and then ramps it up to about 900w

You are indeed a cruel, evil and sadistic sub-human being, to be making jest and taking delight in this terrible violation of an innocent child.

I hereby invoke the almighty power of Ogun, the God of Iron, who will very soon direct you into the hands of armed robbers assigned with the sacred duty of beating you with iron pipes, to within an inch of your life.
I like your rhetorics: cruel, sub- human, evil , sadistic etc but you missed one which I will never forgive you for : REALISTIC!
Our focus was different: you focussed on the problem. Yes, she was canned and then...............? Must her life stop on that pause button for life? So please stop the rhetorics and focus on the SOLUTION.
Either an Abreaction ( another canning episode, she will cry, be consoled, becomes normal) or a visit to a Psychiatrist.

Excellent idea by the way; visiting the hospital I mean. All of us should do that regularly, even from childhood. Most socially maladjusted syndromes manifest quite early and a quick mental state assessment should pick it up.
A perceived socially humiliating experience, as the canning, are known stressors in a juvenile psyche that can precipitate a crisis. I will encourage you to check up School Avoidant Syndrome and examples of Conversion Disorders so you can get my point.

Interesting story. She was flogged in the hand; she fainted , she is now awake and undergoing brain scan. OK o. I think the girl should be flogged more to reset her brain. I am actually getting pissed with this generation of don't cane children and they grow up to be pampered irresponsible adults. Don't get me wrong, I don't support child abuse. In this case, the girl is just being a truant. Why was she not in school the previous day? Secondly, she was canned in the hand, she started behaving abnormallyhuh
She needs to see a Psychiatrists ASAP!

https://patient.info/womens-health/periods-and-period-problems/fibroids will give you an insight ; however note that most conservative treatment options create a situation that goes against getting pregnant. quote author=JKisOK post=79223015]We really need your advice on this crucial matter. We have a sister who has been diagnosed with fibroid. Having seen a few doctors, she is confronted with solving the problem through undergoing surgery to evacuate the mass. However, she would prefer an alternative to surgery to evacuate the fibroid.

There is a bit of background. She has a daughter from a previous relationship. Her husband has two children from his previous relationships. However, they want to have children together, which has not happened. Everyone supposes that the fibroid issue may be blocking fertility between them.

Is there a confirmed non-surgical procedure that has worked with anyone out there? Where did the lady go for this non-surgical evacuation? What is the rate of success? What is the cost implication?

Please, counsel and insights are urgently needed.[/quote]

Looks good!

Although at first I struggled with the cable gauges used especially 2.5MM wire from panel to CC. If possible you should at least match the wire gauge of the panel cables in the panel to CC connection.

If I understood correctly, you have just 600 watts of panels deployed right now? You must review the suitability of your cable gauges if you ever plan to upgrade.

How is the Knife Switch handling arcing with DC currents passing through when you (dis)connect the PV array?

I have played several times with the idea of using a 200A knife switch as a manual disconnect from battery for my 60A MorningStar CCs (2 units with 1 unit to each pole of the knife switch) but fear nor gree me do am - the copper in the knife switch definitely looks like it should take it but you just never know especially with CCs & PV array fond of doing ~3kw each on a regular basis.
Thanks! I do have other panels installed to serve my main needs. 6 nos Mono Solarworld 255W as 3S2P to a 60 amp Itracer CC ( done by myself) and 6 nos poly 170W panels, all in parallel to a 40 amp epever CC ( my first installation , done by an installer when I was a complete newbie, I did not even know the name of the panels). The unique parameters for the thin film DuPoint panels (100w, 100 panels, open circuit) preclude any thoughts of upgrading that SPECIFIC setup.
Will I use the same wires gauge for voltages less than 100v? Maybe not! Even my Mono setup is 6mm @135v panel to CC. It is interesting to note the cables of the DuPoint thin film panels look like 4mm ALUMINUM to me!!
Now to knife switch issue. I only put between panels and Cc and I use it because of the simplicity and the fact that I extremely rarely work on my setup during the day; almost always at night or very early morning before work- so the panels are quiet and I don't notice any arching.
I don't have the technical expertise of you Oga at the tops! grin

2) scrap length of 4mm black and red copper cables (knife switch to CC)
3) 10mm multi-strand copper cables (CC to 200 amp 24v battery bank)
4) 100A knife switch
5) 30 amp MPPT EPSolar CC - bought second hand from Bigrover years ago!
6) Aluminum pipe ( left over from window construction) to serve as base for the solar panels
7) 6 nos 100w panels =600 watts

Results:
Instantaneous yields of between 18.5 amps to 19.9 amp around noon . approx 19A×24v= 456W using scrap materials.
Opinion:
Start with whatever you have; upgrade as quickly and as soon as possibly; you don't have to break the bank to enjoy Solar.

About 3 years or so ago, I got some set of thin film panels- each 100W @ 99+ volts. I installed 14 then and just kept 6 in store. I recently dabbled to a venture that increased my water need and hence power need. I therefore ransacked my store for leftover electrical materials from my building project and here are the results.
