I have a hybrid Gennex 5kva in use now for more than a year. Being used commercially and as I suspect, being abused at my back regularly ( being overloaded with pumping machine/2 ACs until it trips etc). I have timers on the equipment to synchronize use, but it kept being overidden for one reason or another.
So, I am already looking for a not too expensive replacement in case. Moreover, i need a backup as least but Deye is out of my pocket range now.

What will be your choice as per capacity, capability and costs between:
1) Gennex
2) Epever
3) Sorotec
4) Growat

By the way, my solar panels (12 pieces , 300w, Canadian solar) are configured for a high voltage cc (450v max input) and I will prefer not to change that if possible.

I saw @ Earthrealm suggestion and I want to know people's view if cost of acquisition is also factored in.

Unless all the Doctors are insane , do you think there would not have been deliberations before taking the drastic actions of a strike? I will just plead with you to take a step back and imagine empty promises being made to someone that have worked for 6 months without a kobo. Good morning all. February 2021 seems to be ending well !
I finally convinced a friend to let go of a Pylon brick (part of a left over from a project). Though I took possession day before yesterday, I traveled immediately and just able to upload now.
The package did not come with a battery to inverter cable (just realized the cable no cheap at all o, just like the battery!), so I just dey look at the battery dey salivate!

Haha! Have you been there yourself? Wisdom is part of valour!!! I think the long distance from Akwa Ibom to Borno is the issue or also the sun there is too much ; it might crack solar panels if installed there. I am sure it's not due to the bullets or RPGs that might be flying around............, or am I missing something?

Which of the batteries? The 200AH battery pack or the 280AH cells? For the former I got about 175AH at 25v and for the later I have not pushed it that much, highest I have done is 250AH unfortunately I didn't take screenshot but attached is screenshot when I used 560AH 24v setup

No I have not done a capacity testing myself. I don't know if Ojeysky might help in that regards since I got the battery off him a few months back.

Right on point! I have had the system setup for about 48hrs+ with some key observations. At lower voltage/capacity range the lithium batt was OK but once the voltage gets above 27. 7v or so, the BMS starts to get hot. I noticed this as the system was being charged with 35amps (100% charge capacity ) from the grid through a Felicity inverter. I had to change to 25% charge capacity for the BMS to cool down somewhat. I also reduced the bulk voltage to 28.1. About 24hrs earlier, I added another 200amps to the lead acids setup and I am not sure if this contributed to the issue.

I really don't mind much if the lead acids do not get maximum charges during the "experimental stage" as I will likely modify again soon.

I read this with some excitement as I have considered and experimented with mixing different battery types and chemistries together - when I maxed out budget on Pylontech, I considered mixing with Dyness batteries which had similar voltage profile but ultimately did not pursue this path - I have also considered mixing with the Felicity LifePO4.

Lest people begin to apply this solution indiscriminately, I feel compelled to say it only appears to be working in your scenario because the two batteries being combined have fairly similar charge profiles - indeed the Lithium bank will charge and discharge first but that is about where the similarities end.

If you are running a high C rate application (charging with large currents and discharging with large loads) you may find the Lead Acid bank being stressed more than they can handle (your charger will not suddenly throttle current when charging switches to the Lead Acid only and neither will the loads suddenly drop off when being supplied by the Lead Acid only) - for long term stability, you would be constrained to set your absorb voltage to slightly undercharge the Lithium bank (not get to 100% capacity) and possibly severely undercharge the lead acid battery since the critical absorb phase it needs cannot be properly done - incorporate a separate charger for the Lead Acid and you would potentially be overcharging the Lithium bank unless you have a mechanism to isolate the batteries while still keeping inverter and other charge sources powered up from DC.

The way to run this safely is to isolate the two banks and dedicate isolated charging sources to each battery type - at the minimum there should be a dedicated inverter per battery bank and have them switch powering the loads with a suitable changeover arrangement - this can be done seamlessly.

You can go a step further by setting your large loads to power off when the main battery hits LVD and this way use a much smaller inverter running smaller loads to get through the rest of the night.

If you persist on the path of paralleling two different battery types, it is key to mention that at the point of combining them together, the two battery banks must be at thesame voltage at a minimum else you will surely see sparks fly as large and unregulated currents move from the higher voltage battery to the lower voltage battery - with Lithium batteries unregulated large currents can easily damage the battery contacts or permanently weld the internal protective relays all of which will cost you some inconvenience to fix.

Good morning house, I was recently faced with a challenge. I have a 24v 5.4kwh LiPO4 bank and a 600amp 24v used Ritar battery bank. Tested alone the LiPO4 did not meet my daily need. It will usually go off around 2-3am (when I personally need it most!) and the used batteries much earlier at around 12mn at times.
I was discussing this challenge with a friend and he told me he connected his LiPO4 and SMF bank together(in parallel) to the same busbar and that has resolved his problems.
So I checked online https://community.victronenergy.com/questions/19981/mixing-lead-acid-and-lithium.html and realized many others have tried it with the pro and cons, different charging and discharging profiles mainly.

So I connected 200amp of the Ritar to my lithium bank to test run. I also used 28.2v bulk and 27.4 float charging profile on my inverter and CC. All connected yesterday evening. I was able to use the system overnight and even ironed with it this morning, however I was aware there was grid supply at some points overnight and therefore I can't say if it works or not.

It is early days yet. The risks are shortening the lifespan of the lithium and undercharging the lead acid but based on what seems to be happening as described by others, due to the BMS, lithium charges and discharges first and the lead acid charges and discharges last.

I will update the house on my experimentations and hopefully, no big bang episode!

I am quite sad I missed the battery offer. I was off the forum for 48 hours and bam! It happened and I missed it!

Like I posted earlier, I am on the look out for some useful "used" batteries, between 8-12 200amps SMF will be ideal.
In the meantime, I have installed a Gennex variant of 48v 5kva hybrid with battery-less capability ( installed but not yet put to use) to bridge the gap in case we enter the new year and work resumes at the new site .

Yep, I do have a load tester. I once had a set of such low-load- happy batts. They are serving a friend really well now coupled to a DC setup.
My 2kw load is basic critical load. I had being monitoring our present load and usage for months. The facility is work based and not domestic. Please note that ACs and the rest are not included in that review, the gens will carry those ones if required.

IF YOU MUST GO THE USED BATTERY ROUTE, UNLESS YOU ARE VERY FORTUNATE TO GET DECENT batts, 2kw load for over 12hrs would be tasking the batteries severly, used batteries are best for light loads, their achilles heel is usually big loads.

if you you can get decently used flooded batts, they hv thicker plates wch are supzd to be more load resistant. or better still the 2v 500ah used batts.
the used battery market is a pit of snakes, hope you have the tools -- especially a load tester to thoroughly test any battery you end up going for. using only a volt meter to check batteries is soooo wrong, i hv 2 failed batts, they charge ok and read 13.1v resting voltage, but drop to 6v once you introduce a load to them

have you carefully reviewed your load to see if/how to reduce it?

I plan to use 3 strings and parallel each battery in positions A, B, C and D of the string. I will charge each battery independently before installation and try as much as possible to match each string and position during setup.
As long as the system lasts about a year I am OK. I suspect that for it to last the nights the DoD will be very steep maybe down to 45v or so. 10pm to 6am is the most critical period for me as I will prefer not to have to run a Gen during that period.

The only thing I will say is that if you plan to run 2kw loads off fairly used batteries which will very likely not be matched in capacity, then strongly consider using a 12v nominal system with suitable 12v inverter or implementing an effective battery balance scheme if you plan 48v. I can assure you that the common battery balancers will not help much to keep everything in sync when you run large loads off used batteries.

By January, I will be moving to a facility for work related activities that I have calculated power use of about 2000w hourly with minimal day Vs night variations in usage, making a total of about 48kw/day.
At present, I have 24 pieces of 300w Canadian Mono panels, 1. 4kw Amorphous panels, 2 EPSolar 60amp CC, with one 60amp Pfanpusun and one 60amp PowerMr CC as backup, one 6kw 24v VIL Power star inverter and 10kw stab to control grid imput and three backup generators (10kva Petrol, 10kva diesel and 15kva diesel)
I plan to use a 48v system and so I will have to sideline the VIL inverter and go for a 5kw 48v Hybrid Axpert VMIIl model with DC solar imput of 500v. Another option is the Kings series with parallelling capability incase I want to put air cons on the system.
On the sideline I will be running a 12v DC lightning system to carry bulbs with 200-250w total capacity for 12 hours daily. I have 4 pieces of 3 year old Monbat 200amps Batts to be dealing with that.
My main challenge right now is storage for the main system. While I had been eyeing LiFePO4 battery system, it had become quite clear that it will have to be pushed to 2021/22 axis. New lead acids SMF will cost about 1.5mill which unfortunately is not at all feasible now.
I am now considering fairly used 12 pieces 200amp SMF Batts to tide me over for about a year. Or is there an alternative within the scope of 500k?

Your invictus inverter seems to work on an algorithm that does not factor in higher voltages to the batteries during charging. Inverters are meant to compensate automatically and not allow working on a premise that if 48v DC imput =240AC output, then 56v DC should equal 300v AC!!!!

the major issue is that on a sunny day if the breaker is left on, bulbs , phone chargers etc connected to the house will burn, even light switch left on will not go totally off, but be giving small light., but if the breaker is turned off, everything goes to normal. hence they are unable to use inverter during the day

has anybody experieinced this before?
also am looking for the manuals of yohako mppt cc and invictus inverter, lemme peruse and see if the problem is from there.

am open to other suggestions

Oga make you no worry yourself. Whether you take anything or not, you will recover fully. The loss of taste and or smell is transient, max about 2 weeks and the return is not due to any drug taken.

I have used both hybrid and standalone systems now for about 6years. My observations:
1) Hybrids easier to procure and deploy as per cost and ease of initiating newbies to RE.
2) Most hybrids seems to be having relationship issues with Litium batteries ( charging profile mainly) also estimating the SOC seems to be a challenge.
3) In a stand alone system if your inverter is faulty then your system is down same as in Hybrid situation- it's same same. Moreover, CCs aspect of my hybrids has never given me issues only the inverter part and I could believe that it's due to the fact that it's the one doing the heaviest work
4) Hybrids do not seem to like low grid voltages for charging. No issue with the bypass mode but gets stressed if also used for charging ( one of mine actually caught fire , real �) , could not charge anymore yet continued to invert for years afterwards.

My conclusion: which car is the best? Petrol or diesel cars? I hope you get my point

The Eastman 850va inverter (was told its afvertosed as 1kva tho)that I put up for sale here, even though I don't use it as an inverter, I sometimes use it as battery charger to boost battery charging with utility or gen. Now I have discovered that on normal utility grid supply, my clamp metre has never exceeded 5amps. But when on generator I get up to 14amps steady!!
