I am not aware that CC goes bad because it was not used for a number of years. It does not have an internal Battery that runs flat or anything like that. Sapiosexuality: |
I will advice you STRONGLY not to sell. You will not be able to get it at the price you sold it if you need it back . Moreover, you won't have any backup in case anything happens. Find money for your upgrade. You will have reasons to remember this advice in the future. Sapiosexuality: |

Still popular because most new users don't know better, sellers offload what they have in store, most installers are quacks unwilling to update themselves or trouble shoot problems, common/cheap inverter clones in the market don't have a lithium profile etc etc. Lack of a Lithium profile/modifiable LVD in older inverters is a big issue for those moving into Lithium from Lead acid. Once the BMS on the Lithium kicks in, the inverter and the CC shut down, AND WILL NOT COME BACK AGAIN UNLESS THE BATTERY BMS IS MANUALLY REBOOTED. This meant that since most Ccs derive power from the battery (rather than solar input like some new Felicity CCs), no charging takes place!! in the meanwhile the CC and some inverters would have lost all settings you modified on it , reverting to factory settings! We have found a way round that though; just parallel any old set of Lead acid batteries (once they can still hold a little charge) and this ensures that even if the BMS LVD trips, the CC and inverter still has power and will start charging once power is available from the grid or sun comes up in the morning. At about 11.5v, 23v or 46v or thereby, the BMS is triggered on and the Lithium begins to charge. What happens to the Lead acid? Nothing much, just continues in its pathway of getting old. Lithium nko? the BMS takes the brunt of being used as a LVD but at least the user can benefit from the tremendous beauty of fast charging-load carrying capability of Lithium. My experience: Third year of such use, no issues whatsoever. Obnoxious2001: |
Thanks Bro! swagifted: |
swagifted:I am entranced. Do you happen to have a rough idea of the cost of the prepaid meter? |
EmekaStanley:Nice write up. Are you being treated properly now for the malunion or non union? The bandage I saw does not in any way show the proper way such old injury should be treated. Otherwise, ........we will hear chapter 3 of this story . |
Read up a bit on what you wish to accomplish and then use this calculator. https://www.fabhabs.com/dc-cable-sizing-calculator Note that your cable size depends on how you may wish to couple the extra panel. In series or in parallel Gshems: |
Yes. But it will be showing a red warning light and beeping to show that it has been maxed out. So I DON'T routinely use it for that purpose. Few times I had used it to pump was in emergencies Polaris1: |

Do you use the same socket for your equipment when on Nepa or inverter or do you have a seperate setup for your inverter? If a seperate setup check your connections and earthing. There is a bridge of wire somewhere. JoeSef0: |

I bought a rated 5.5 KVA 24v to serve a very unique need. It is not hybrid and seems light in weight for the said capacity. I wanted an inverter to carry my ACsx2 plus other domestic load during festivities when the whole house is full and there are many things going on at the same time. Obviously that will include fridge, washing machine and 1HP pumping machine. It has served the purpose well with no issues. I also use it a few times to charge my system with the national grid as I found it less sensitive to voltage fluctuations. ( I use a Servo stabilizer before inputting to the inverter) For my regular use I have a 3.5kva 24v Foresolar inverter. Can carry fridge and washing machine but NOT the pumping machine with other loads. adibo: |
Kool temper, I be user no be dealer. Not all inverter users can buy premium. I buy and use inverters based on how much it costs to provide service for me. If I buy an inverter for 600k and it lasts 6 years and I buy another one for 200k and it lasts 2 years, then I cannot see the superiority of one over the other. From the business end, I will go for the 200k one and preserve my cash flow. That is me sha. Obnoxious2001: |
I initially thought my YOHAKO inverter was dumb too until i experimented a bit with it. By pressing down on the ESC and ENTER button together for about 3 seconds, you will enter an interface requesting for password. Generic password is 12345. You will then enter advance settings where you can modify quite a lot of settings including LVD etc Interestingly, another Chinko inverter I saw somewhere ( i think Kartel?) has exactly the same MO earthrealm: |
I got a notice of price increase about a week ago. Maybe that contributed to what you encountered, kristien4: |
adibo:I got a Yohako a few months back on an emergency basis. doing fine so far. I however have an habit of not stressing my inverters pass 50% of rated capacity on daily usage. its still early days yet to comment on the components surviving wear and tear |
No comment about the rest but Sorotec: a big NO. Gennex will outlast the Sorotec by far under the same condition earthrealm: |
Two possibilities: undercharged or overcharged battery. When the system switches off will let you know. If at night; low voltage be that. If during the day, high voltage from the battery triggered an overvoltage disconnect in the inverter. Part of that is if the Cc is just overcharging!! twinskenny: |
A video to watch.https://www.facebook.com/reel/2774148709411698?s=chYV2B&fs=e&mibextid=f7oaF0 Lots of claims but I wonder how long before the bubble burst? |
Remember that in most lightning strikes, it is the electrical components that gets fried. The inverter or Cc do not explode. There is no electrical component in a lead battery. I am not ste if a BMS in a lithium pack is safe sha lovediehatelive: |
lovediehatelive:I have had experience with lightning killing my CC and inverter. My CC , Epever 60amps MPPT remains in coma till date. It is possible with panels too I think ( it has a diode at the back). I have never had a battery affected though. |
jospepper:Interesting EXCEPT products from those "advanced secondary schools" outshine other candidates when they get outside the country. On a good day no Nigerian graduate will fail postgraduate studies abroad. Unless Na third class he get from University . That one too will likely pass. Our problem is glut in the job market leading to us undervaluing graduates. Our thinking capability is intact , expression of that into research outputs may be fraught with challenges mainly from funding. Are you aware that some journals ask for researchers to pay Article Publication Charges of more than $2000 for a single paper before it can be published?? Where will they get 3m to publish your research? That is one of the reasons why Nigerian University Lecturers don't get ranked worldwide and not because they are subpar! |
As a landlord, I WILL NEVER EVER ALLOW A TENANT TO PUT PANELS ON MY ROOF. I REPEAT:NEVER EVER. The chances of a mistake along the path of installation or removal is so high that the risk is not worth it. Ten years rent can barely reroof a building at current prices/value obtained. When he/she builts then he/she can place on his/her roof. I will however not obstruct any form of land based structure as long as you promise to ensure my building is back in shape when you leave. I was a tenant twice, and each time I ensured I totally refurbished the building before leaving. I have seen enough "professionals" in my discipline and in construction /engineering to know that mistake no get master! And the person with the short end of the rope is usually the owner. mctfopt: |
Good evening peeps, I need to freight some cabinets/beds/furnishings from a friend in Nova Scotia Canada to Nigeria; can you advice a good freight service that can do door to door pickup and delivery? Thanks |
bassdow:As I have often said: your battery choice is your choice, the advice given is for those who are yet to chose or open to further consideration. I started using Lithium in 2020. I have 7 different battery packs now including Pylon Tech US 3000, 5 locally assembled lithium pack with varying capacity from 3-7.5kw and a Felicity 15kw pack. I am a realistic hobbyist. What works is what works. Prior to that I had more than 11 years experience of LA ( from AGM to tubular) . I still have some LA in service- total of 6 200amps 12vs, but likely NOT to procure new ones as I have stated earlier last year or so. The only common LA variant I have not used are the low volts high amps variant. When I recommended lithium, it was born from usage and reality. I do not hate any battery chemistry neither am I a seller or agent for anyone. I strongly believe in using a battery chemistry personally before commenting on it. So I experiment a lot and form my own opinion. I still recommend LA for many small setups ( more like use and discard kind of, if your load is indeed small ) but ANYBODY with growing or heavy need is better of with Lithium from the onset. Why buy a motorcycle if you have 6 children? The sad reality is that most LA brands in Nigeria are from India or China and are expected to be cycled about 700 times in their lifetime. A battery’s cycle life is how many times it can perform a full charge and discharge cycle. Please how many years is that if a battery is cycled daily?
|
bassdow:Can 2m set up your system? How much is medium grade Lead Acid battery now? Most 5KVa and above inverters come as 48v ; so he will need 4 as minimum. And he should be ready to buy another set in 2-3 years depending on how much he cycles the battery. I am aware that he can spend withing his budget and get a decent setup, but lithium battery afford future expansion and cater also for unpredictable usage and large power draw. Little is better than nothing !!! People should just learn the rules of whatever battery setup they settle for, otherwise |
I have often wondered why we have not being seeing your posts . We missed you and you missed some skirmishes here. Saipro: |
You have really tried. It IS difficult to reason with some people because they have a specific narrative in mind and all other point of view contrary to that do not make sense. Most people commenting on this thread hate doctors as a whole, Nigerian doctors to be specific and if you are not part of that horde , then you too must be rabidly attacked. It shall be well with my country, one day! advanceDNA: |
@fan issue: I noticed that from the onset with the very first one I bought.( I now have many- some with and some without the problem) The problem can be found within the plastic cup directly on top of the fan facing down. There is a cable there that gets occasionally entangled as the fan wants to rotate back. So the fan with try that direction about twice and if still obstructed, it will just go back to the previous way. You can always find a way of partially securing the wire and then replace the cup and the problem should be solved. Unless the recurrent entanglement has caused a problem already. I hope you have noticed that the clockwise spinning gives indirect wind supply and the anticlockwise gives the direct and best supply at any speed? Obnoxious2001: |
