As long as they have the same nominal voltage, then yes, they can be connected in parallel. However, they will charge and discharge at different rates and one may carry the load more than the other one .

Hello

This is my current setup
Jinko 560w x8
Sunshine solar 430w x6
Sunshine solar 450w x6

3 CCs, one for each
1 inverter 7.5kv Felicity transformer base

2 Wakatek lithium batteries 12.5kwh (LB48250)

Everything is connected to 2 busbars (+&-)

Question:
I want to add at least one more battery but currently the distributor is out of stock.
What will be the effect if I add another brand of lithium battery possibly of different capacity? If that is even possible

Hmmm. Sorotec. I have a 5.5kw unit (bought late last year) acting up. Displaying error 32. Manual says it's a communication failure between inverter and remote display. It will not connect to battery and when switched on by solar imput, will temporary display no battery mode before bringing out the error.
I had to put back my backup 5kw Gennex while waiting for the resolution.
My battery is 12kwh LiFePo4 and connected to the battery through positive and negative power cables only.
I have finally resolved never ever to buy any inverter named by or produced by SOROTEC again! It is truly SORROW TEC(HNOLOGY)! Anytime I think of the inverter I cannot think of a SINGLE good thing about it. it is that subpar! First, the finish is far below the name.
I strongly believe also that the self-consumption is higher than similarly sized inverters. I was not able to measure this though.
The fan is noisy and the inverter failed woefully where Gennex and MUST inverters of similar capacity have thrived. Despite my misgivings, I paid 120k for the useless inverter to be repaired a few months back. I then relocated it for domestic use in my weekend house where I am completely off grid. I tend to visit the place every fortnight ( spending the weekend only) and put a total load of a small fridge, a 22-inch tv and six light bulbs on it. I made sure it was only INVERTING, no other task. Yet, the same error has resurfaced. I am not sure the bloody thing has worked for a total of 30 days before showing its true colours again!!!

By the way, I live alone there before someone will say it was mis-used behind my back!

Good day house.
By January, I will be moving to a facility for work related activities that I have calculated power use of about 2000w hourly with minimal day Vs night variations in usage, making a total of about 48kw/day.
At present, I have 24 pieces of 300w Canadian Mono panels, 1. 4kw Amorphous panels, 2 EPSolar 60amp CC, with one 60amp Pfanpusun and one 60amp PowerMr CC as backup, one 6kw 24v VIL Power star inverter and 10kw stab to control grid imput and three backup generators (10kva Petrol, 10kva diesel and 15kva diesel)
I plan to use a 48v system and so I will have to sideline the VIL inverter and go for a 5kw 48v Hybrid Axpert VMIIl model with DC solar imput of 500v. Another option is the Kings series with parallelling capability incase I want to put air cons on the system.
On the sideline I will be running a 12v DC lightning system to carry bulbs with 200-250w total capacity for 12 hours daily. I have 4 pieces of 3 year old Monbat 200amps Batts to be dealing with that.
My main challenge right now is storage for the main system. While I had been eyeing LiFePO4 battery system, it had become quite clear that it will have to be pushed to 2021/22 axis. New lead acids SMF will cost about 1.5mill which unfortunately is not at all feasible now.
I am now considering fairly used 12 pieces 200amp SMF Batts to tide me over for about a year. Or is there an alternative within the scope of 500k?
Thank you for your comments and imput.
Interesting to know I was here a few years back. Now I am solidly lithiumed! Total capacity at that site now 27kWh and no regrets.

By the way, anybody in the house with a medium capacity inverter (4-5kw inverter) @24v?. Its needed to sort out a domestic issue. Kindly quote me here with your best price.
Thanks

What happened ?
Saw that at a place I visited recently. The panel was part of panels connected in series in an high voltage setup ( close to 200 panels total in that installation). Due to some reasons( I don't know the full story) the instal had to be dismantled.
This panel had a through and through meltdown!!

I just dey laugh since I read this. You know this battery issue is like marriage. You choose who you want and to you they are the best. All I know is that my oldest Lithium battery is more than 2 years now and life has never been this sweet since I started my renewable journey about 12 years ago.
Over the years, I used both wet and sealed, semi-dry lead acid batteries, with the attendant up and downs. I also use domestically and for business, balancing the tug of MORE/ LATEST of an hobbyist and the PRAGMATISM of balancing the books in business had become an art for me.
For learners and fresh, small sized users, there is no harm in going that route of lead acid first to learn the ropes BUT if you are planning on a 2kVA and above inverter system, the most reasonable and cost effective path is straight to Lithium. That is the only path that makes business sense in my experience.

Interesting assumption. I don't know how you expect everyone to be on that list. Some of us are in rural areas without network connectivity or reliability. I generate about 25kwh averagely from one of my rural setups (24x 300w Canadian panels, 27kw LiFePO4 storage) daily (the biggest) and I have 4 setups in all. So the noise being made here is working, as it's encouraging us to do more grin grin

Good morning house, just want some advice here on Smart TVs.
1) Is there a way I can make my regular TV smart? I.e is there a box or stick readily available that I can attach?
2) Anybody with experience with Polystar 65inch smart TV. Is it worth the 300k price? Just to watch films and occasional football matches.

Many thanks for your input!
I appreciate all the suggestions.
I decided to try a TV box and got one off Jumia @12k. Pictures attached. It was delivered yesterday and connected to my home WiFi network. Came with HDMI cable for TV connection. Has been working well. YouTube films played without any glitch or lag. Netflix is next.

I hope my story will motivate someone to take charge of their life.
I lost my job last year July, and so a friend of mine introduce me to a poultry farm where I am earning 22k per month.

A man with wife and two kids o, my wife was not happy with the job even though she has been supportive in her own little way. And then, she suggested that I should learn handwork, and so I decided to learn welder.

On getting to the man, he told me I will spend 2 years o, I will pay 70k to learn from him. Me way I no get even 20k, I begged him to collect 50k and he agreed.

Then he asked me to make part payment of 30k. I went home and told my wife, and then she gave me 20k to give to the man. I gave the man 20k and he collected it, to my greatest surprise within 2 months I started doing the welding job perfectly.

On my own, I have paid up the remaining 30k with small small repairs job he allowed me to be doing for people. And by God's grace, I have started saving up for my tools.

I really thank my wife for the advice and the welder too. The man has been a tremendous blessing to me in many way. He even told me yesterday that with the look of things I may be free from him in 2 months time except I decided to still remain with him for a while.

Please take charge of your life and stop depending on people for survival.
You've done well OP. Kudos for your resilience and to your wife, she is a wife indeed. Far better person she is than some
who have commented.
Some advices:
1) Stay with your boss a while. Learn all he can teach you before leaving
2) Move far from him when you set up and don't go with his customers. Develop your own customer base
3) Keep a close relationship with him and work with him in getting big jobs. Contracts come easy if you have a network
4) Upgrade yourself in two ways. Go academic and a get a technical certificate in welding as a minimum. You can't get some contracts with your expertise alone.
Also go online and learn, learn and learn
5) Determine which area of welding that pickle your interest and develop yourself in it. Aim that your name is the first that comes to people's mind when the think of that aspect
6) When success comes your way, remain fateful to your wife! Otherwise.............

Can inverters be run 24/7 without shortening it's life span. Please note I'm not talking about the batteries but the inverter itself.
Nothing lasts forever. Normal wear of the parts in motion is my thought. However,I have used inverter for 2-3 years straight atimes . Usually I plan towards @5years of use. After that, I am ok with anything that happens.
I always look at it this way: how long can I expect to use a petrol generator 24/7 before changing the enginehuh As long as the inverter lasts longer, I am ok
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by durodee(m): 1:38pm On May 13, 2023
Mine does, easily. For how long depends on your battery capacity. I have had one 1hp and another 1.5 HP for 3hours at a point. While it's not usual for the AC to be on most times, regular load is less than 2kva ( @1.5kw) but i have a 1.5hp water pump that on a timer of 15mins action every hour. The inverter handed that brilliantly. My usage of some other brands for the same activity showed that some brands advertised here are overated.
Kaybthaniels:
Thanks for the response boss, what are the loads on yours if you don't mind me asking?, Is it able to handle the load of an Air conditioner? Two 1hp inverter ac to be precise. Both will not be turned on at the same time tho.

Does anyone have an experience with this inverter... It's a Gennex
I have used Gennex products for about 8years now. While I had only fair respect for their 3.4kva I bought then ( have had to send it in for repairs three times) , the 5kva I bought in 2021 have really been capable of getting the job done. Able to handle the loads well and easy to use and understand. No regrets in that area.

My experts in the House. I greet you all for all the enlightening may the Lord increase you.
Please i need a help. A client wants to setup an inverter and Solar system in his Pure water factory that will carry the following loads.
1. Sachet printing water packaging machine. According to the client the machine is 3pcs and each of the power input of the machine is 3kva X 3 and it will run for 8hrs daily.
2. 1hp pumping machine (Sumo) will go off once the tanks are full.
3. Lighting points for night

Please i need an advice on what system will work for this project perfectly.
1. Inverter capacity
2. Battery bank
3. PV capacity.
I will also like to learn all the calculations. Thanks in anticipation
I want to clarify if you mean 3 pieces of 3phase machine rated 3kva each?
Single phase inverters are cheaper than 3 phase ones.
If I am to set this up I will rather go for 3 individual 48v 5kv-6kva inverters, each with a 7.2kw array of panels (minimum, preferably more) coupled with 15kw (48vx300amp) lithium battery bank. I will go for the high solar voltage CCs and possibly hybrid inverters to save costs. I will however parallel the batteries together, so that ,in case only one or two of the machines will be in use, then the other storage will not be idle.
A fourth 3.5-5kva inverter will be for pump and light. It will have its own panels but I will likely connect to the same battery bank to just complete the circuit but relying more on harvest from its panels to meet the power need.
As a minimum, a 7.5-10kva petrol gen should be available as backup, so that any of the water packaging machine could be switched over to generator if the need arises.
You can do your own initial assessment and calculations

This schematic might look strange but using solar/inverter for industrial use for years made me realize that a single 20kva inverter is like putting all my eggs in one basket.

Thank you for your response. Then if I am to add yet another 80 watt panel, what spec of battery will be suitable for me?
Let us assume 700 watts usage @12v = @60 amps. Is your 10hours usage going to be at night only? If so all the 60amps must come from your battery. You will need about 70- 100amps battery if lithium, or as 150amps if lead acid to ensure about 50%DOD. The rest is your choice and pocket.

By the way, nothing says you cannot use car battery meanwhile before you gather your self for a good deep cycle battery.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by durodee(m): 1:27am On Mar 08, 2023
Battery type is not the first problem here. There is harvest versus usage disparity. Your panels will generate @ 600w/day under the best conditions. Yet you plan to use 500-700w/day. Chances are that the days in a year that you will meet your 10hours need will be few unless you change your calculations or expectations.

Ah okay, I think it was a combination of the charger and the Gen that spoilt your device. The generator AVR probably didn't react quick enough to the charger being plug and probably caused a fluctuation in power output which your highly sensitive sound system couldn't accommodate.

I can almost swear that if you were on PHCN or inverter when you plugged that charger, this sad event would not have happened. A dedicated UPS to sensitive equipment also helps to handle situations like this.
I beg to disagree.
One day , at my business, the 5kva inverter kept tripping with overload fault showing. This was an inverter that had no issues with 1.5HP submersible pump and an 1HP AC together on a normal day.
I will switch it back on, check the load (@700w) observe for a while, get back to my office and about 10mins later it will trip again.
Out of frustration,i went to the DB and I started isolating the building, section by section until we found one area that anytime we switch it on, then the inverter trips.
I then called my electrician who came, checked , and could not find the problem. Soon the same issues resurfaced somewhere else .
So we searched socket by socket only to discover a useless phone charger was the culprit. One of my staff, oblivious to my dilemma, wanted to charge her phone . She will plug it, power will go, she will remove the charger use her phone awhile then plug it again when power comes. When i isolated a section of the building, she jejely moved to another part of the building to charge her phone . That day was not funny.
I made sure i destroyed that charger that day before someone go give me heart attack

The only potential problem is not the frequency. The capacity too. The capacity of that generator (1.0-1.1kw) to effectively power and charge through a 1.5kva is suspect. Charging puts additional burden on the generator and putting a stabilizer on it cannot correct that.

Thinking back, I think my experience may have been affected by the capacity of the inbuilt CC which was 60amps. 60amps at 48v will only give about half the capacity of a 5kva inverter and about full capacity for a 3kva inverter. I however tested with 5kva inverters
I will expect the inverter to remain on in the scenario you cited provided yield was sustained during the period of the surge demand.

TechGeek777:
Thanks for the info, I will definitely use it with battery. What if the surge demand is less than panel yield, will it still trip off the inverter?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by durodee(m): 10:04pm On Dec 21, 2022
Comment on "batteryless" inverters from direct use. They cannot function at full capacity without batteries irrespective of the panels yield. Also while in that mode, any surge demand ( fridge etc) may trip off the inverter. Also be ready for intermittent trips from cloud cover etc as it can only address present demand from solar yield. I ended up reserving that mode for emergencies only.
TechGeek777:
Thanks bro, it's not too late but the No-Load Loss is quite high.

Non Energy-saving Mode: ≤50W (1200W in every 24 hours)
Energy-saving Mode:≤25W (600W in every 24 hours).

I intend not to use much from the battery during the day.

I need 24v hybrid 3kva - 3.5kva batteryless mode inverter that can power 2hp pumping machine, have editable charging current and voltage that will be compatible with LFP, with idle consumption of <=20W and should not be more than 250k.

Please experts kindly look into this spec.

Yes to the question.
Also note that there is a reason National grid transmits long distances using HIGH voltage: there is less energy loss and also affording the use of thinner wires as the case may be. So I have a basic principle with high voltage hybrid inverters. I will ramp up the voltage as high as I can first before thinking of parallel setup. Just be careful you don't break the voltage ceiling. If you break the amp ceiling, the Cc will just cap it at its capacity and continue working. If you break the voltage ceiling, then................
In extremely maxing out the capacity of equipment just remember that most times, the benefits does not always outweigh the risks.
