PotatoSalad: It's unlimited data, Not 1TB I am curious. Are you still getting those fantastic speeds as before? Starlink has been horrible here in Abuja for the past few weeks. |

rookidmart: I had no idea they did that. Checked their website and the difference is steep! What I pay for 100mbps in Lagos is what they charge for 50mbps in Abuja. Crazy It's unfortunate. |

For those who live in Lagos, these two plans make sense especially with the increase of Starlink plans. The challenge with fiber connectivity is the frequent outages due to fiber cable cuts.

rookidmart: What about FiberOne? They have 150mbps at ~53k I just checked their site and found out that they give differing value at same cost of plans for Lagos and Abuja. Given that I live in Abuja, I won't be using their services. |

Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by dustmalik(m): 10:54am On Oct 11, 2024 |
If I had MTN fiber in my Estate, I would abandon my Starlink. With MTN fiber, you get a guaranteed 150Mbps at 60k. These days, Starlink is so slow and sluggish during the day time. |
Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by dustmalik(m): 3:50pm On Oct 10, 2024 |
If Starlink doesn't resolve this ridiculous performance issue of its service by next month, I will have to seek an alternative. Paying so much and not getting value is very annoying. If there's an issue with their base station here in Nigeria, they should provide an alternate solution like they did yesterday. |

Challspace: Yup. Same observation here in Lagos. Looks like their European POPs are much more equipped to handle heavy traffic, which I somehow find insulting.
Looks like we’ve been getting subpar service from them all this time. I have always suspected this is the case. |
Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by dustmalik(m): 11:32pm On Oct 09, 2024 |
Challspace: Mine is Berlin too, and I bypassed my Starlink with a NETGEAR router. I guess they had an issue with their Nigerian station and are rerouting our traffic through Germany. That’s why latency is so high tonight. That would explain the unusual high latency. It seems to be faster too. Getting an average of 100+Mbps, which is unusual in Abuja around this time of the day. I am able to stream large files that I typically wouldn't be able to. Personally, I don't play online games, so I would prefer they leave it on that German server. |

toluxa1: Yours is still very fast. Here in Abuja, the last 2 days, it's been like 2- 8 Mbps. Alot of my customers have also reported same. Same on Twitter Just when I thought I was the only one having these horrible speeds. Though it's been generally bad for the past few days, but today's own is far worse. |
Phones › Re: NCC Cracks Down On Starlink Over Unauthorized Price Hike by dustmalik(m): 12:13pm On Oct 08, 2024 |
Firstcitizen: We know this but can they enforce anything if Starlink did not apply for licence, take payments and shipped hardware directly from abroad? The government can prohibit the importation of Starlink. Anyone caught with Starlink can be charged and the kit seized. This is already being done in a number of countries. And, in such instance, if you have to go through the trouble of smuggling Starlink and using it, Starlink can decide to charge you whatever amount and currency it wants, that is between you and Starlink. However, as long as it's licensed by the regulator, it can intervene where it feels necessary. |

Phones › Re: NCC Cracks Down On Starlink Over Unauthorized Price Hike by dustmalik(m): 11:57am On Oct 08, 2024 |
Firstcitizen: Can NCC actually regulate starlinks if they decide to go rogue and take payments via foreign gateways? NCC issued them licenses before they could operate in Nigeria, so they have complete oversight on Starlink. When Starlink launched in January 2023, they initially charged in dollars. NCC then forced Starlink to start charging in Naira, in June 2023. |

This is the most useless government we have ever had. In other words, Dangote now determines the base price of fuel. This is also to absolve the government from any responsibility of pricing. In the future, Tinubu will claim his government was never responsible for fuel pricing. |

The other day, he said, Trump must win, if not, Kamala will come after him and his businesses, given how open and supportive he has been of Trump's presidency aspiration.
I hope Trump loses. Elon has successfully turned the X platform into a campaign tool for Trump, using algorithms to show only Tweets that favours Trump and all sorts of lies and fake news against Kamala. |

Shadomaan7: Trump can't win the election. He is too bitter and frustrated. As much as I hate it, Trump will likely win. Elon has dedicated his whole life to promoting Trump on X. In fact, he has manipulated the algorithm of the platform to only show Tweets that favors and promotes Trump. |
