But it was not effective and mandatory. People still have to come back.

But now, it is mandatory that everyone adopt this from 24th June, 2019.
While it wasn't mandatory, it was the preferred form of collection/return especially for those not living in London.
Making it mandatory will no doubt ease the pressure on their facilities.
I long for the day that our postal service back home will be very efficient to offer this type of service and our brothers and sisters trustworthy not to steal people's passports.

1. This to inform the Passport Applicants that with effect from 24th June, 2019 passport processed at the High Commission will be mailed directly to the home address of the applicants. Consequently, applicants are required to submit pre-paid self address express service envelop on completion of bio-metric capturing. For emphasis, henceforth, mailing of paspport to all applicants is mandatory.

2. Applicants are also reminded to use this official facility and desist from using a third party or touts to request for passport. Consequently, Nigerians applying for passports are urged not to use the App (myVisit) for their appointment as its no longer valid for appointment booking. Applicants are advised to come strictly on the interview date printed on passport payment slip. Thank you.

There are 2000 slots available yearly for the T1ET and it's divided equally between endorsement bodies as well as halves for the first and second part of the year (1k jan-jun.....) And more slots are only awarded if an organisation finishes the one previously given.
In my experience, endorsement may be problematic (royal academy of engineering). I do not know about tech Nation or the others.
The 2000 slots go mostly unfilled every year perhaps because people do not know about the visa route.

More people should actually look into this. I believe this is one of the easiest way available currently to emigrate into the UK.

But not a lot of people are willing to do the legwork to fulfill the requirements. This would have been my options if I wasn't on my current route.

Tier 1 exceptional talent visa

Apply for 5 years very expensive but removes all visa renewal fees
Ability to switch jobs
Apply for ILR after 5years.

OP you need to really really plan beforehand, because life here is not beans oh your 2M is at most your families budget for 3 months at most. I advise unless you have a running source of income from elsewhere. You should really consider moving with your family.
It's actually a good scheme if you can get endorsement and it is not too expensive, in my opinion.
Application for endorsement is about £300 while the visa application is less than £1000. It gives you the flexibility to work for any employer or be self employed. You can apply for ILR in 3 or 5 years and you can apply for a 5 Yr visa instead of 3yrs as in tier 2 process.

thanks for this question boss. Can I have an opportunity to apply PGDE for my wife when my MSC is almost done, where I will also switch to dependent with children to extend our stay or is there any means to become a permanent resident at the long run?
Not a good option and that route is allbut closed now. You can't do that for 10 years to be eligible for ILR.
Have you looked at Tier 1 exceptional talent visa? Have a look to see if you qualify or retrain and see if you can get an endorsement.
The route you are plannign will be something like this:
1 yr MSC - You
1 yr MSc - Your wife
PhD - You - 4 yrs
Phd - your wife -4 yrs
Total 10yrs then apply for ILR.
That's too many years to put your life in limbo.
You can look for a Tier 2 sponsor as well.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: This Was How I Lost A Bank Job Opportunity Yesterday . I Hope It Helps Someone. by dustydee: 7:47am On Jun 20, 2019
AGManuel:
I write this with tears in my eyes but I won't cry because a man is not supposed to.

If really I was such a bad person , I hope to change and live a better life. But to deserve unemployment because of a past situation I found myself in which I couldn't help, I think it's too much for me to bear, but what do I know? maybe I deserve to be unemployed.

But if I tell you I'm not depressed, I'm lieing .

Last year I got a marketing Job with a bank few months after my NYSC when things were extremely hard . Even transport money to go for the training was hard. On the first day of training, on my way home, I lost my phone which was the only thing of value I had then. Safe to say I began the Job phoneless , cashless and frustrated .

Even money to buy bank wears and appear smart or serious was a case . No transport for work, no phone for my work and marketing, no clothes to wear, I'll leave out feeding coz I could control that with starvation or one square meal. My mom was only able to raise small cash for me which most times didn't last a week, transport to and fro was 400 naira, a plate of food was 300, before I get transport for marketing , airtime and transport to call and bringing customers to open accounts and running around on the job which was money intensive, anybody who worked a as marketer before can relate...all these with a huge target of 30 accounts to open and a target of 3 million to bring to the bank.. At least I'm expected to spend 1k a day on the Job which I have not been paid. Remember it was my first month and most banks don't pay in the first month, it's in the second month they combine your salary and pay. Pay was 35k. I was just frustrated.

All these struggles manifested in my performance coz I couldn't deliver and my first two months was a mess coz some days I just couldn't go to work. Sometimes I came to work late coz I had to look for transport money in the morning. Being able to come to work and survive was my main concern then, I fell sick many times out of starvation and it affected my Job. On one occasion or two the Branch manager assisted with stipends when I complained to her about my struggles. Most times the stipends only lasted a day or two but It was a life saver for me coz there was no other option, at least I was able to come to work and eat the next day. Fellow colleagues couldn't help, nobody could, I dropped shame one day in the board meeting and asked for help for we the new staff and how hard it is for us to keep up with the Job. I got nothing.

Not too long after, I resigned to pursue something else . I traveled.

Only for me to come back after 8 months for another bank Job interview and when my former Branch manager was called as a referral, the one I complained to about my struggles and reasons for my underperformance , the same one who assisted me sometimes and this was her reply "He's unserious, indiscipline and unfit for the Job. I was not supposed to hear that but the interviewer put it on loud by mistake and I heard that part before she quickly put the phone off. Immediately I knew I wasn't gonna get the Job.

It hurts me so much, dad is no more, mom a widow, siblings in school calling me day and night for money being the first son and bread winner. If I'm unserious and irresponsible, I can change & become better. No matter the circumstances I faced, I can't make excuses for that. But if I was such a terrible person to deserve unemployment . I let God be the Judge. The interview happened yesterday.

I'm back to the unemployment table guys. My advice to every young hustler out there is to do their best on any job they find themselves no matter the circumstances. But my prayer is for our pasts not to deny us our future bread. We go make am last last.
This is sad. Sometimes I wonder what the Labour unions and the ministry of Labour do with their time. In some countries, an employer has no right to refuse reference or give a bad reference. The worst they can do I just confirm that they know the person and confirm his employment.
Kepp going and keep your head up. You will surely find something soon.

The full grown man who many (relations) believe is abroad for a greener pasture, was seen on the street singing and begging passerby's for alms.

Although this is not a mockery post but a way of telling us how some Nigerians in Diaspora hustle and survive.

This looks like busking to me and not begging. It is some people's full time job and some pay taxes on their takings.
In some places you even require a license to busk.

No both of them are Medics on tier 2. No property yet, and the lady refused to be a dependent under the guy. He cooks for himself, does everything like a single man, while the lady is also in another city, and visits mostly weekends. He is tired of being single, and married, and having a lady he thinks doesn't give him regard or have any real marriage values. She controls him, and always wants to have the last say. Unfortunately it's just one year.

Any long term consequence of divorce?

Will he pay any benefits at all?

Etc
While divorce may not be the best thing, if you are fed up, leave now that you have no ties (child). It's good that she's employed and so the split should be around 50-50 and you should not have to support her financially. Whatever you do, try and avoid lawyers except she involves a lawyer and even if she does, please convince her and try to settle amicable else you will spend the money you don't have on lawyers.

There's a place in Southampton called pairview that do training in data science, but their sales pitch suggests that they want to get their graduates in jobs around the 35-45k mark.

if you're an IT engineer on 400, then you should potentially be looking for 'senior' permanent roles in your field, maybe even managerial roles.

Infrastructure support roles don't really pay that well these days, so your day rate suggests that you're a highly skilled guy....so I'm a bit surprised you're considering starting again in a different field
It's a comms role in core engineering (energy). Unfortunately the market is no longer what it used to be and not many roles available. Also I see it as "suffer head" especially when I see other non technical personnel milking it.
I have been in contact with pairview but I wasn't convinced after reading reviews. I may just bite the bullet and go with Cambridge spark or general assembly.

What I've found is that the higher rates tend to be reserved either for a particular niche, or man-know-man.

For example, standard BA day rate is 350/400. Specific sector experience on top of your base skills may push you into 450/500... around 650/700 in insurance and Investment Banking with regulatory experience.

Man-Know-Man or Consultancy kickback may elevate you 800

But you're doing the same shït as the brother down the road.

As an engineer, I can't tell you what's hot in your field. You should be keeping tabs on trends, and trying to upskill yourself

Also being 'stuck' on £9600 gross monthly income is a great place to be stuck at, bros. Please be mindful and grateful of that fact.
Thank you. I am grateful but not enjoying it. At the moment, I will consider a permie of paying 60k plus benefits if the job is right.
I have considered moving to data science or data analytics but not sure of the right training to go for. Consulting firms will be great but no luck so far. Not living near London has somewhat limited my options. I will keep developing myself.

So caveat emptor.

Na consultancy parole sure pass now
Come what are these skills/professions that command these rates. Some of us are stuck on £400. Care tk share so that I can upskill? I am looking at changing careers, currently an engineer and I seem to have lost interest, looking at analytics or PM.

Hello fabgirl22,
Thanks for the kind words.

TLDR; Access Bank systems went down on 31st of June, no incoming nor outgoing payments. They were working on it throughout the weekend.
Monday, NIP network went down. Affected the whole country as a lot of financial services went down as well. We're talking payout networks, digital wallets and banks etc. Our systems had no issue, it was literally just the banking network and there's no way we could have mitigated that. We explained this to a lot of our customers and we issued refunds to those that couldn't wait and we could issue refunds for. When the network came back we had a lot of double payouts, data fragmentation etc. And we had to manually resolve every transaction with the bank.

I'll post a full post mortem and proofs (those I can) when I get home as I'm on the phone right now
shocked I know you meant May.

Good day house I am new on this forum. Please I will like to ask those of you living in the UK if anybody is aware of the new EU settlement scheme going on now in the UK? I am asking on behalf of my friend in Nigeria. She just told me that her hubby in the uk just applied for the settlement scheme. She said that as soon as the hubby gets it, he will apply for spouse visa for her from Nigeria. Please I want to ask if the EU settlement status holds weight like the ILR? Can one use it to apply for spouse visa for the wife? The wife lives here in Nigeria why the hubby was a non EEA family with retained right of residence visa for five years. The hubby av spent more than five years in the UK. But the hubby av divorced his ex-spouse since 2014 and came to Nigeria in 2016 to marry my friend. My friend has been waiting for his hubby to get his permanent since 2016 but he got refused for permanent residence last year so he just applied for this new settlement scheme. So my question now is if he gets this ILR via this new EU scheme can he use it to apply for spouse visa under the UK immigration rules of meeting the finance requirements on 18,600 pounds and other requirements? I await your responses house. Many thanks
Why do I have a feeling that I am familiar with these subjects? lipsrsealed
