1GHC = 73 Naira so our 1000Naira is just 13.6GHC

just imagine! What I think you need to detail, is how many MB so-and-so GHC will buy. If the equivalent in USD will get less data in Nigeria, then you can claim the OP isn't correct. Otherwise, the number of Naira to the GHC does not mean much in this matter. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |

dustmalik: Well, Etisalat, ntel and interC support band 3, While Smile, MTN/Visafone sims support band 20, and Swift and Spectranet support band 40.
Depending on your data needs. If your prefer and can afford unlimited data, then go for Spectranet, Smile, interC, ntel or Swift. I'd go for Spectranet, since it's more stable and consistent than any of the other '4G Only' networks.
But if you're not one that needs a lot of data, then get an MTN/Visafone branded SIM from an MTN store. The advantage of the Visafone branded SIM is that it supports both LTE band 20 and 7, unlike the normal MTN SIM which only support band 7. Well done as usual, @dustmalik. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |

simiolu1: You goofed big time Oga. How do you know I don't appreciate good things? You don't know me that well to make such a statement. But rather than bash you, I'll just enlighten you. The mobile phone market is shark-infested waters. That you were a market leader ten (10) years ago doesn't mean zilch (ask Nokia please); and that something was once the rave doesn't mean it can't be outdated or swallowed by new trends.
1. I remember a time when sliding phones were the rave. Every manufacturer had them in all shapes, sizes and styles. Let me ask you "how many phone manufacturers still make phones that slide?". Answer "Blackberry did in 2015" and the phone was a huge disappointment. In fact, in the 1st (first) quarter of 2016, the phone only sold 600,000 units!
Lesson: when a trend is dead and long gone; it's better to leave it buried.
2. I remember when Samsung launched its Galaxy Note 1. Everybody said it was too big and bulky; even those Apple fan boys and Apple executives. In fact, Apple mocked Samsung and said it will never produce a device that big. Guess what? They did with the iPhone 6 plus and it was a hit mehn! However, the KeyOne is just 4.5 inches! That's just 0.3 inches bigger than the z10!
Lesson: when you see that the trend is moving to a new cool, move with it on time.
3. You said people like physical keyboards. Well, I can tell you that over 80% of people who said they will never use a full touchscreen phone 5 (five) years ago have jumped ship. And a big percentage of those people were BlackBerry fan boys who have now found solace with either Apple or Samsung.
4. Every once in a while, you need to dazzle your consumers especially with your flagship devices (because that's where the bulk of your profit comes from). Samsung did it with the Note Series; they are currently doing it with the edge series; Apple has done it with the iPhone 7.
Last time Blackberry dazzled people was the Z10 (because it was their first phone that will use the OS 10 which had been experimented with on the Playbook). I shouldn't remind you about the hype and paranoia that surrounded its launch. Let me ask you another question "which other BlackBerry has been launched with such pomp and pageantry since the Z10?"
And don't mistake the KeyOne for a flagship; it's in fact a mid-range device that costs around $549 for the base price which is quite expensive believe me.
The goal of a manufacturer is not just to sell but to make profits; BlackBerry handsets have been selling but the company is in deep poo. So when I prayed that they made sales, I was actually wishing them well (I no be bad belle now) My problem with your line of reasoning is that you seem to imply you - an individual - can make a better business/design decision for RIM or the BlackBerry brand. (Most of what you've listed are just your peeve likes on a device/in a company, actually. Even the size of a screen is a personal choice, for Pete's sake.) It doesn't work that way, sorry. For instance, Apple defies conventional wisdom - at least this far, and that company is not likely to let up any time soon - even in the face of extreme childish taunts and Cyber abuse by immature Android fanboys of it's business model/products/prices. Mind you, I'm not a fanboy of any company or brand, I just happen to use gadgets that appeal to my fancy at any one time. In the mean time, the last BB device I used was an 8820, and that was quite a number of years ago already (I've never seen a better, more sexy and functional keyboard!) Now, I'm falling for the KEYone, and looking forward to using it alongside my other Droid devices as soon as my financials permit. Good luck, everyone. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |

OBAGADAFFI: MTN is using Visafone (CDMA) LTE license, with dedicated frequently and channel.
Their is expected to be faster than other networks. Hmm, that's a weird claim/expectation. In any case, except for those relatively few Visafone SIM cards (Band 20) as taken over by MTN, all MTN 4G SIMS recieve signals on Band 7 only, and that's a widely used band. More over, MTN has not enabled Band 20 in most jurisdictions the last time I checked. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |

ace1: Ntel support says my line is ok. I just have to dump the ntel network. This is the second time I'm subscribing and not being able to use it. Just ended up wasting my money Have you in the meantime eliminated the possibility that your device may not be in ”LTE-Only" mode? Like I mentioned in the first response to your initial post, ntel is an LTE-only network; so it is sometimes notorious for not connecting on some devices, until they're placed in LTE-Only mode. Yet another issue is, ntel is supposed to broadcast on both bands 3 and 8. Some have reported that if a device prefers to choose especially band 8, and that network is down on that band as it's often reported to be, then, browsing is simply not possible, even though the network's signal would appear present. Good luck, anyways — whatever your device's situation with that network is. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |

That he has forwarded my details to the appropriate quarters for that. Am still waiting.. if i don't get 2mb with Utorrent, i wont subscribe Let's hope that, by now, ntel gets the message that it's not only about the poor throughput/speed, it's also about how its data packages have been recently structured and delivered. For instance, throttling a supposedly (and already miserly for LTE data service in this era) 10 Mb/s, or ~1.2 MB/s, which is 1,220 KB/s daytime delivery, to a clearly pathetic 64 KB/s after 3 GB or during night time - even where night time is deemed free time - is grossly unusable, at least during night time, and therefore unacceptable. malikalhaj: Swift does not throttle speed, night or day, image 1 is swift on X1 (it will be faster if u use IDM) during their free 12- 6am, while image 2 is spectranet outside their 1 - 7 am This is even more pertinent info, thanks. As there's no throttling on Swift, Spect appears far ahead during day time, with Swift taking the gold during free time browsing, when one can achieve much more, unattended. With that class of day time speed on Spect, however, one can stream true HD content without buffering. If only Spect would just offer, say, 3MB/s (~24Mb/s - about half of that day time speed) during free night browsing time... ntel used to not throttle at any time, and was reaching 10-11MB/s (~88Mb/s) on IDM in my zone; then the network just "dabaru'd" everything.
