ntelassist:I'm afraid yours is the sort of misinformation guys fall for. There is no generally accepted single unit of measurement for speed tests, friend. Test sites and others either set a convenient unit as their own preferred defaults which remain constant no matter the throughput (e.g. Mbps at speedtest.net, which a user can change particularly if registered,) or base readouts on the class of speed. With the latter style, fast.com provides kbps if one's throughput is under 1 Mb/s, otherwise its output is in Mb/s; IDM, on the other hand, defaults straight to KB/s (8Kb/s) if under 1 MB/s, and jumps to MB/s (8Mb/s) if over. Still, testmy.net tries to present at least two of the units of measurement per test. With the above reigning scenario, misinformation - some in fact deliberate - w.r.t speed test results, are not likely to go away any time soon. Those consumers who love themselves and value their hard earned money, should just try to arm themselves with correct, non-distorted or misrepresented information regarding products they buy into. ........ junduphat:May be some would find this useful. As for me, I would appreciate it if you'd provide the empirical data on which your selections were made? For example, what are/were the various throughputs/download/upload speeds on which the rankings were made, where, and by who? Arming readers with such info will be inherently useful, and should certainly help an end user such as yours truly make informed decisions as to which Internet service provider(s) to next pitch my tent with, for instance. Thanks in advance. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
honsule:I was wondering about that as well. But, @honsule, you sure can effect a correction na, no? ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
Lexusgs430:All of those cost money o... that's part of what princetom1 alludes to. At the end of the day, most of those Chinese companies/vendors have to penny-pinch to make sustainable profit. Having said all of that, some of the companies do make success of it. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
ntelassist:Unfortunately for we real world consumers of ntel products, you're either in self-denial, or uninformed, or just being mischievous. More troubling, however, appears to be that you haven't bothered to at least read through the last 20 pages, say, of Stanley08's ntel thread in which thread you first introduced yourself. On that thread, you'd see the tales of woe that consumers of ntel's products have had to grind through in the past couple of months! It will also reveal to you that the 64KB throttling issue is real — and kicking. I humbly advice you to please sit up on this assignment, if you have the genuine goal of making a success of this thread for ntel and consumers of its products. As for me and my household in the meantime, we've had it up to "here" with the unreliability of ntel's services — the least of which are very frequent "No Service" returns. Therefore, I shall not be renewing our subscriptions to ntel services once the current ones start running out in a few days. Good luck! ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
ntelassist:That's one good first step. In addition, I'll strongly suggest you open and manage a dedicated thread on ntel matters/Customer Services on here and provide a link to it. Good luck. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
Singapore1:Thank you for sharing this experience. Any experience with throttling? Will be on the lookout for your screenshot. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
Singapore1:Sorry if I missed this earlier, but could you please indicate the highest consistent speeds you're obtaining on Spectranet, if and when throttled or not, and your location? I'm trying to ascertain whether the highest speed is indeed limited to 8Mbps (1MBps) as stated on the site, and how stable the service is along the Lekki axis in Lagos. TIA. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
Alsayer:These networks are just playing with semantics! The real issue is that, like others and me have stated here and elsewhere, the 64 being bandied about is actually 64KBps, not just 64Kbps; 8Kb=1KB. 512Kbps is the same as 64KBps! ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
Reading further on the Spectranet offer I posted on earlier, I came by the following (among the Terms and Conditions,) and I quote (Source: https://spectranet.com.ng/q10.html ) : Q: Does this plan have any Fair Usage Policy (FUP), if yes after how much of data consumption it applies and what will be the speed after FUP? A: Unlimited burstable speed is assigned to all customers between 0-100GB and speed reduces to 512 Kbps after 100GB is utilized. Q: Are there any other condition which I should be aware of, as a Spectranet user on UNLIMITED GOLD plan? A: Spectranet reserves the right to limit download speed to 8 Mbps for the first 100GB in view of maintaining uniform service levels for all customers. UNLIMITED GOLD plan can be subscribed on or before April 30 2017. Customer which have subscribed before April 30 2017 will need to change plan back to original data capped plan or other data capped plans after expiry of UNLIMITED GOLD plan validity. When Spectranet user changes back to original data capped plan, the “Stored” data will get added to user’s account after renewal. End of quote. Looks like it's a one-off, anyways. ........ Has anyone jumped on the bandwagon yet of the new Spectranet Unlimited speed 18k/month offer depicted in the attached images? https://spectranet.com.ng/promooffer.html Please share your experience(s), if any, with respect to its usability, stability, and maximum sustainable d/l speed(s) in Lagos. My current ntel sub expires before April 30, and I might just jump on this new Spectranet offer if justified by experiences that may be shared on this thread or elsewhere. Thanks, guys. ........ oyb:512kb/s = 64KB/s. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
Dam5reey:Well said, @Dam5reey, that's the koko of the matter. One reason I can think of that wouldn't make ntel commit to that kind of speed, would be limitations in the sustainability of that sort of speed, which, in turn, is most probably dictated by the current state of the network's infrastructure. So, ntel needs to offer a lot more to earn my own 60k per three months. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
tonio2wo:Why don't you do your own research and provide a credible answer? Your other alternatives include to: a) wait for the security agencies to conclude their investigations and reveal the rightful owners or charge any offenders to court, or, b) wait for any one/body to come before the judge who already ordered the interim forfeiture of the humongous cash found in the apartment, to prove ownership of the cash. This process may further lead to the identity of the owner(s) of the apartment itself - whether or not different from those that would lay claim to the stash. The court hearing for anyone to lay claims to the money before the judge will come up in two weeks, give or take. So, you guys should just hold your horses. Good luck! ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
BERNIMOORE:The probable purpose for allowing the misleading/clever by half headline to fly as is, is to get your attention and more viewers. Just deal with it. On a side note, it's not just a "mere warning letter." It is required by law to be issued before the offended party can actually sue, according to legal minds. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
turawafett:Yours is a very good post, @turawafett; it sure should come in handy/useful for people. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
sirfee:Amaechi excluded Wike from the list obviously because Wike has immunity for as long as he remains in office as governor, and so he cannot be sued - yet. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
chris31:Who are the "most Nigerians?" Some relatively low population guys on social media - majorly the noisy ones from the South - who swarm and control the narratives? In any case, Osinbajo himself or his party would not dare run against Buhari, anyways. Even at that, and on the main subject of the thread, let's just put sentiments and chest-beating behaviour aside for one moment. Doing that, anyone without an attention-deficit disorder can deduce from results of the PDP-initiated and parented Twitter poll of recent as posted by the OP, that Buhari is the person to beat if he runs. 'Nuf said. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
okonja:Mehn, you must be equipped with some kind of alien balls, LOL. I posted two or three pages ago ain't gonna risk that ish until ntel can guarantee like 10MB/s (~80Mb/s) on it. I added that's not likely to happen, though - at least not anytime soon. I also added that, should things totally come down to it, my own best alternative to ntel at the moment is Glo's 4G 48GB@8k/month plan. (Two/month of that should fetch one a rock-solid 3GB/day, for those into that class of requirement.) One can come close to that Glo strategy on Smile, but the Smile network reportedly attains less speed compared to Glo. Good luck to you the rest of your 90-day journey, though. ........ Mcnuel:I'm reading conflicting info/specs online. Which specific bands does your 927 variant support? ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
Just searched for "UMI Z Pro Specifications" and got the following link with the offer at $249.99. Haven't bothered yet to check for the genuineness of the site/seller or any hidden charges, though. http://www.pdevice.com/product/umi-z-pro-specs (The site provides links to known, reputable online merchants at that price, so the offer is most probably genuine.) ........ Lexusgs430:Good thinking - and good eyes, @Lexusgs430. All the best with your purchase, and looking forward here to your review/user experience as well. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |
If ntel kills the current Ulimited@10k plan - or as much as makes it less affordable - then I'll be off the network in an instant... ... Unless, of course, ntel can guarantee a solid 10MB/s (~80Mb/s) on, say, that new Unlimited@60k for 90 days plan. Such a guarantee's not likely to happen, though, and I may begin to consider Glo's 4G 48GB@8k 30-day plan ... that's a reasonable 167 Naira/GB. Both services deliver about the same speeds in my crib. Glo is more solid, of course, and I already use the network's 10GB@2.5k 30-day ish to automatically fill up those unpredictable holes in ntel's Ulimited@10k service by stringing the modem routers together. ........ dustmalik:NSG is indeed a darn good tool for Qualcomm devices; thanks for outing it. It previously flew under my own radar partly because of the relatively non-stellar rating it has so far garnered on the Play Store. For MTK devices, LTE Discovery - along with MobileUncle Tools - is probably the one to beat. ........ P34c3 ..... ... |

Mynd44:Whoa... You're giving ThisDay undeserved credit, my friend. The publication has been way below the Vanguard in terms of factual and unbiased reporting, and for a while now already, IMHO. ThisDay has become an expert publication in terms of suppressing the aspects of a story — or simply totally ignoring to publish some — that are not favorable to the east or PDP, while unfairly magnifying those that favour that demographic. Besides, the comments sections to its stories are brutally doctored and unfavorable comments promptly censored/blocked from appearing to the public, including some comments by yours truly. I can't claim to be 100% correct, but I've not observed such gross acts of suppression of reader comments by the Vanguard in the last nine months, or so, plus, it features virtually all stories, even if some show up incomplete in a way as to lead a casual reader to an inaccurate conclusion. Anyways, ThisDay has not stopped being an Obaigbena publication - for whatever that's worth. By the way, I read all mainstream publications — including the versions of their stories Nairaland choses to propagate. A lot of them are just for the fun of seeing how a story changes color across publications, then seeing how the real stories pan out eventually. I'm getting off my soapbox now... ![]() P34c3 ........ ..... ... |
