Heard of the change of guards? New NLNG MD, a certain Tony Attah. |
I know I have been an interesting figure on this thread. I have been very critical of many actions & inactions. I thought I was going to be filled with vile at this juncture but interestingly I am not. The decision to delay thusfar pushed me to reinvent myself and whilst waiting for the final mail from NLNG, I got offered a post-MBA role at one of the top 3 management consulting firms in the world. I will be turning down the NLNG offer, but please the ones who get in; develop some empathy and make sure the kinds of thinking that caused us pain is not done under your watch. I truly love the company NLNG and it would have been a pleasure working with many of you guys. My path is chosen, all the best guys. |
I came upon this insightful excerpt from a McKinsey publication "Management intuition for the next 50 years". ........As information flows continue to grow, and new waves of disruptive technology emerge, the old mind-set that technology is primarily a tool for cutting costs and boosting productivity will be replaced. Our new intuition must recognize that businesses can start and gain scale with stunning speed while using little capital, that value is shifting between sectors, that entrepreneurs and start-ups often have new advantages over large established businesses, that the life cycle of companies is shortening, and that decision making has never had to be so rapid fire. |
Fellow world pipu, onto another matter now. I read the publication by Niger-Delta Avengers and fear catch me. Crippling Chevron and threatening to use "tactical team 1, an air raid team" to blow up tank farm in bonny. I just tire. Lagos is already feeling the effects of the Forcados damage, make these people camm down small Abeg. |
A little description here, there are two classes I'll consider: Those who see nothing wrong with prolonged "due course" (A), and those who see otherwise (B). Many states in Nigeria are owing salaries, the prime sources of money have shrunk from federal allocation. A: It is not the governor's fault so nothing wrong with this situation. He will pay in due course once the money comes. Let us pray for the nation and wait, there is nothing we can do. At least it is not just state Z that is owing. B: It is wrong to owe people salaries, though it is a nationwide problem. States should have diversified earlier even if the Federal did not. Also there is apparently a tough underlying problem; the working population is not creating enough value to pay itself hence they will either be run inefficiently or overstaffed. If this key problem is resolved within a few months, salaries will be always promptly paid. Can we all see the difference the different kinds of thinking can significantly change a whole lot? Please kindly think big picture. |
Who sees Nigeria as an underdeveloped nation despite its human and natural resources? Most sane people. The proper attitude is to accept the problem exists and develop ways to fix the nation, in your unique ways. Now the grouse of some of us, is that a large percentage see no problem in this delay and excuse it away, similar to what happens in the nation. The better attitude would have been to first accept the problem exists, and think up ways to prevent such when they get in. Imagine this particular situation where those in there are also excusing the problem, how will they grow to prevent such recurrence on the future? These problems that have created the scenario are cyclical except the Ebola, will this crop of people say " my recruitment took 4 years, this can be delayed "? Or they'll say " my recruitment took 4 years, such must be prevented from recurring ". The main attitudes are skewed towards the former and that therein lies the problem. |
Hey guys stop fretting, resumption is between August and September this year. Decided aeons ago and why I was tackling those claiming otherwise in Jan & Feb. Meanwhile, all those excusing the lack of communication and making up any form of excuse are worse cowards than our parent's generation. For fear or favour you will sit down and watch the nation burn/ prop up wrongdoing in the name of respect. May God never let me be silent on the face of evil. I will go forth to achieve, but I will always speak against wrongdoing. |
Frank Ocean or NLNG, who'll release first? |
"There was no concrete agreement on the oil supply reduction, this makes it imperative for the company to stall the recruitment exercise at least till the oil price is $69. At this price LNG prices will be at a level to sustain increased staff size. This is all to ensure the fiscal stability of this great company". Na like this the thinking be. ItsTime4me: |
Lessons: Specify in your requests. You almighty God, I want this NLNG graduate trainee role, and to resume before October 2016. I trust you'll answer this humble believer. Djbaka: |
Board meeting going on now. Any takers whether our matter will be tabled? Whether or whethern't, enthusiasm for the role and company has greatly dropped; we'll see how it all plays out. |
Plenty looked at NLNG like the Saudi Aramco of Nigeria, professional pinnacle in Nigerian Engineering, sadly. Seems the expectations and sacrifices were wrongly directed. forkadict: |

Glad to see we're not listening to MI's Crowd Mentality even with the open invitation, but rather dancing to Banky W's Lagos Party....... Ain't no party like a Lagos party cos when Lagos parties we don't bother nobody........ |
I love MI Abaga's breakthrough track, Crowd Mentality. It's message will never get old. |
The last paragraph of this media statement wants to make me like them again, the knowledge that some in the company know that industries need to be expanded to grow the nation & advising the government as such. ceetee:Regarding the growth rate in NLNG, kindly take it that you're basically retiring early. Little room for differentiation and growth, basically bodies to fill up spaces and follow laid down procedures. All the best everyone. |
I am beautifully made by the good lord. Thank you. |
Congratulations Ese, my Benin brother. May the good lord make you excel in this role and grant you joy at it. airsaylongcon: |
Brent crude at $39.74 please keep rising. May the spirit of Ijebu garri enter you and rise. Rise, rise to $50, rise rise rise, and quickly too. |
According to Mr Koker, " Owo non fin do something ooh, Owo non fin do something ooh ". Na money den dey take live life. All this discourse on the relevance of money or not as a motivator, is supposed to show there are differing valid views on the issue; and these views should be appreciated. This is because we are all different, with different stories and drives. Money is very important, other factors are more important than money to some. Doesn't mean money isn't still a key factor. We all joined this process to improve our lives. This whole started with views on the first salary negating the sufferings endured throughout the process. That view is best put as " Your past 3 years can be bought with 3 million naira " . I mean that view is putting a price tag on people, and alot still believe that is not right to put a price as such against their dreams, sufferings and aspirations. This is a typical problem with generalisations, let's try to put caveats against generalisations. I always wanted to work with the smartest brains in Nigeria, I will be glad to have most here as colleagues. |
Oga, in one breath you contradicted yourself. What does a staff motivated by money become? A Yes-Man. ceetee: |
If they are averse to criticism, that is worse than the departure from the core values we've been insinuating. That's an Aunty Iyabo and Sons style of running an organisation. NPComplete: |
I network heavily on LinkedIn and usually put up educative materials on slideshare. I typically do not get information or participate on Nairaland; I find such blogs as gossips and I usually have more constructive use for my time. Thank you. But if I were to open up one today, it'll be NLNGPatriot. ladyF: |
Very very funny!!!!!! kecy19: |
I think they'll be playing some form of hunger games. hsim247: |
Haba mana, e be like say we wan muddle this thing up. Money is very important, but it is not everything. Over 70% of those waiting in due course, will earn or make 2-5 million dollars over the next 10 years with a few outliers. So whether or whethern't NLNG, the pepper go still rest. Now if the money is ALL you get over the course of your productive career, WHAT IS NOW YOUR LEGACY?. I know the story of a woman who's single dream was to own a regular Benz, she achieved that by age 40 and fell into a cruise control. She did not expand her business, she did not expand her knowledge, even though she had the capacity to do so. She was satisfied as she had achieved her dream. Can you draw parallels yet? Money is very important, it's usually a measure of value placed on you, but is not everything. As a caveat, for some; they need the money to pursue their long held dreams ( being a CEO), for them the speed of amassing the money is even more important. All the best to us all. May we smile on our death beds, knowing we lived the life we wanted, by the ultimate grace of God. |
Mikel Obi chose to replace Makalele rather than Scholes. Nigerians believed so much in his abilities. Both options would have made him extremely rich, but he was strictly motivated by money. |
Investor: So you mean you want FID to expand your operations, that's very interesting FNG gas company: Yes we do I: but what happens with the unrest in Libya, they can sell their gas at lower prices and affect your proposed market share advantage. F: that's true, we'll get back to you in due course I: Really?. If you say so. 6 months later F: We have long term agreements for gas supply, their competition in the spot market will not affect our market share. I: that's pretty basic, OK. I believe you insinuated the urgency of the project. How long do you think the payback period is? F: we estimate 5 years. I: That's great, so the FGN finally gets increased income and the PBP is just 5 years. F: ooh that's true, we will have to update the estimate for PBP, we initially ignored the end of the tax holiday. We will get back to you in due course, the calculation exercise is still in progress, we sincerely regret any inconvenience this might have caused you. |
See as you take catch me, I don learn now. Gam Sam nidaaaa ( thank you in Korean) ladyF: |
