You are required to show proof of funds for your FULL tuition and living expenses. And then your sponsors must show they have some leftovers to take care of themselves. Make sure all these steps are undertaken to avoid stories that touch the heart

I have a friend who wants to apply for student visa in Ireland. Her Uncle is a citizen and intends to sponsor her, do she really need to provide the statement of account of the uncle or will a letter from her uncle signifying that he will take care of her throughout her stay be sufficient enough?
Would her undergraduate program raise an issue as she studied Botany but wants to apply for International Pharmaceutical Business Management(she has experience of the pharmaceutical company)

Please guys help out.

She will need to pay her tuition fees and show proof of funds (not letter) from her uncle to justify a visa!

I have 3 children aged 12,11 and 9 and would like to travel with them while husband stays back in Nigeria. I know that Ph.D students are allowed to travel with their kids but I have idea on how to go about it. Please help me! Congratulations for the PhD studentship.
Accommodation in Waterford isn't that crazy like Dublin. You can get a decent place as low as 250-300€/month.
If you're not a lavish spender 250€/mth (at most) is enough for feeding.
Student visa won't allow you to bring your mom or family member. It is not allowed.
Don't really know much about crèche fees. But you get small home creche that doesn't really cost much.
Judging by the stipend amount, you should still have some extra cash left monthly.

Correction. You can come with your family if you are doing a PHD. Also, getting a place for less than 300 euros in Waterford will be extremely difficult and even the ones for that amount will have low BER ratings and she can't have a baby in there as it will be very cold. If she is coming alone she can wing it but with a child, it would limit the options she has

Unfortunately, renting is a big thing here. You can get a place but it's best to see what you like before paying. There are so many factors that go into it like heating, distance from school and from shops. Then with a baby, some people might not want to share apartments with you. Best thing is to get here before looking for a place.

Another good thing this year was that studies was online. If school is back to normal by year end, accommodation will become scarce again

Waterford is lovely. The student union bond is tight and the city is not too fast not too slow. Lectures are intense but with proper planning and God, you can excel!

Everything depends on what course you want to study, the experience you have, the grade you come put with and the job market. Getting a job isn't 1+1. You must have experience to back up your course and even then, it is not automatic.

Applying for a course in Germany is possible but why not do it in Ireland?

I would really appreciate your responses, especially if you are in Waterford (cc @Dwebb55) or you are a Nigerian PhD student who has travelled to Ireland with a baby/family members.

I have just been offered a fully-funded PhD for 4 years at WIT. I intend to go with my baby, who would be about 8 months old by September and I am really anxious about sorting out child care. My questions are:

1. Creche fees in Waterford seem very pricey, from my research (170-200 Euros per week). How have you handled child care while in Ireland? Is there an option to go with a family member (ideally my 60-year-old mum) to support with child care? Please feel free to share any tips that could make child care cheaper and stress-free for me.

2. In case I am not able to go with my mum, is 16,000 Euros enough to cater for modest housing, full-day Creche fees, and upkeep for me and my baby every year?

3. I would really appreciate some advice around finding affordable accommodation in a safe and child-friendly area within Waterford City.

Hi. I do not have any experience with a child as I am here alone. However, it your upkeep is Euros 16,000, it might be a bit tight. You can't share a flat with other students because of the baby and might have to get a self contained place. That might cost you about 500-600 a month. Groceries, baby things, food, heating may extend it to 900-1000. So that's 12,000 gone. With creche fees at 800 a month, you'll be walking a thin line. I am also not sure your mum can stay with you for a year straight so you'd have to walk a tight rope to balance your expenses. And taking PP might not be possible with the baby. I would also expect your course to be tedious as it is a PHD, so take time and plan am well!

What if you come in to study a Higher Diploma? If you choose to advance and pursue the MSc. can you pursue the MSc. on part-time after completing the HDip program?

Only 8f you get a job thereafter. The field of study is critical here because if it isn't on the critical skills list and you don't have experience, getting a job with your HD will be difficult

As An international student, you are not eligible to study part time, only full time study!

I would like to use the educational bond as my proof of finances. One of the Information They require from students is the Visa Application Number but the problem is I won't be able to get the visa application number until I go over to the the visa office to submit my application.

There is this APPLICATION TRANSACTION NUMBER which is an eight digit number which is provided whiles filling the visa application form online. I would like to know if that is what is required ?

I can't recall but once you begin your application online your visa number would have been generated

Like he said, it can be risky. There is still a lockdown here. Getting part time jobs is not straightforward and once you get accommodation, you are expected to pay monthly at the start of every month. Your bills will not wait and there is no one to tell stories to. Better wait until you are well prepared before coming

Yes, the account where the bond was paid from has to be submitted with explanations on the source of funding!

Tuition is €11,500 for the 1 year program and living expense is €7,000. These should amount to about 9.9m.

No it will not. The sponsor cannot empty his/her account for you. There has to be some balance left for the person to survive on. The sponsor also has to show evidence of income and how they got the N10M+ at least N2M for their upkeep and family needs. This is very important as you can be denied based on this

You can pay with your First Bank card. A friend from India paid with his local bank card

Don't really get what you mean, buh i will be given two years to get a job, and after that i will request for stamp 4 visa for permanent resident. Business management is however needed in every country, after tech i guess is business. With my experience here in Nigeria i guess it will give me a upper hand in job searching, moreover it will be easy for me to also seach for job in canada or uk.

Unfortunately that isn't how it works. The reason why IT and STEM courses are 'hotcake' is because it isn't really fancied by a majority of their people. They mostly do business courses and that makes picking you over their own people a much harder task.

That is why they have a critical skills list which highlights those professions that they have a shortfall in. If your profession is on that list, there is a high likely hood that getting employment after studies will be much easier. It is a lot harder if it isn't on the list.

Another thing is many of them have diplomas or certificates and can work with that and there are a lot of them doing that to work. Your chances against an omonile in your field is small oh!

Nope, that’s why there’s a Euro Dorm. If you have a Euro Dorm then you can use it anyhow you want. You can also sell your Naira here if you want.

You can actually withdraw Euro from your USD domicilary account here in Ireland. It will be converted at the going rate at the bank. I have done so severally!

Now the issue is, would it be worth it to take a diploma course?

To the best of my knowledge, it might be difficult getting a work permit with a diploma course. I think they are counted as level 7 and you need a level 8(BSc) or 9(MSc) to get a post work visa.

Definitely. You can also check for schools outside Dublin for cheaper tuition fees and lower costs of living

I really do not know about the medical profession in Ireland. I'm in the Engineering sector. You can look up Ceecee on YouTube and Instagram and send her a comment. Her hubby is a doctor and moved to Ireland and can better help. However, they are in the UK now but their advice would be invaluable

My honest assessment is to come to Ireland right now. The US has a lot of job opportunities and pays better but the pandemic has wrecked havoc. Trump has also brought out anti immigration sentiments and violence against blacks is high. Ireland on the other hand has great prospects for IT jobs without many of the negativity.

So I definitely recommend Ireland

Once they look at ur carry-on luggage and feels it's over 8kg they will weigh it. Then as for the 2x23kg they are very strict about it, you will pay for any extra gram

A sure proof way to know your luggage weight is to get a normal weight scale. Stand on it and determine your weight, then carry your bag on your head and weigh again. Subtract your weight from the second reading and voila the weight of your baggage is known.

With this technique, I have never gotten a bag that was overweight while travelling

I got a decision on my appeal exactly 13 working days after I reapplied.

I have now arrived and settled in Ireland.

Have you checked if the course is on the critical skills list? Not that you can't study it but you have a greater chance of getting a job after studies if your employment is on the list

My visa has been approved. I give glory to God almighty who has done this for me. May his name be praised from generations to generations. My story is a long one, but i wouldn't go that far. This is not the first time i have applied for a visa outside but was denied. I also thank our blessed mother Mary for her powerful intercession and the Angels of the living God for their assistance.

My family for their support, My brothers, My parents. Not forgetting friends who supported me, friends whom i made in this journey.

The top up course should be a pre requirement for an MSc. I am not sure you can just do a top up course on it's own! Icas will shine more light
