Dear house, I finally received a response from CIC. However, I was delayed and will soon go about reapplying.

This application was my first and I believe it was well packaged as I am an avid reader of the thread and I also used a top immigration lawyer based in Canada and I have an unblemished travel history.

Submitted online on 1st of June. Biometrics was done on the 7th. I sent several CSE's and got a denial yesterday. I applied for a course in a trade as I recently started a business in that trade and needed further education to boost and improve my business. The trade isn't taught in the Universities which is why I had to apply to a college.

Deny was adduced to purpose of study but will be applying for my gcms shortly to get a specific reason. Contributions will be welcome to get this sorted.

Also thinking of a judicial review but yet to decide on if this will be a better option. Opinions are welcome and I look forward to being successful in a trade that I believe will enhance me personally and my society at large.

Hello people,

I am a recent Canada PR holder and I am looking at going for MSc when I land in Canada soon. However, I am not sure if my CGPA of 3.10/5.0 (Second class lower) can get me admission for MSc.

I have five publications and another MSc from UK with distinction.
I intend going for MSc in Medical Microbiology or any Microbiology related course.

Please, don't ask me why another masters, it is my choice. Just attend to my query pls.

Thanks guys
Your decision to study once you get to Canada is one that I must commend and don't think you will regret. I don't think your cgpa will disbar you from your pursuit but I will advise that you find out more when you are on ground in Canada. There are many other opportunities you can take advantage of and some forms of sponsorship or scholarship that you can partake of.

Another way to get Canadian experience might be to look at doing a PhD but these choices are all open and let no one discourage you of such. The worst that can come from any application is to hear no and even then there are still other options open!

Hi all, Kindly advise! I graduated with B.Sc Computer Science some 15 years ago. Work experience has been in Business development/marketing/sale/financial planning, spanning about 13 years. I'm yet to have a 2nd degree and I just applied to a college in Canada to study a 2 year graduate certificate course in Global Business Management. I'm I likely to be granted study permit?
In my opinion, your best bet is to apply for a masters in finance or MBA. With your experience and all, you just might sail through. Another option is to try express entry

I think my application is the oldest here in the forum. Online application June 1. I haven’t gotten any medical request yet. Still reviewing my eligibility and background check. Everyday I check my portal and can’t wait to know my fate
Nah bro! We applied same day. My eligibility review hasn't even started yet. But I think Jnyuwa is the oldest application on the thread for now.

Good day house,

I asked a question about this new form that was uploaded in September. IMM5832e (Lagos visa intruction office) one part says do not do upfront medical or pay tuition, please do you have an idea if anyone still do upfront medical?
Truth is you're not required to do upfront medicals until when/if requested. However, due to delay issues many go ahead to do it in order to reduce waiting times. If upfront medicals has been done you would be expecting a passport request for online submission or approval in the case of paper submissions.

However, the embassy will not want to be held responsible for additional costs in the event that an application is refused which is why they ask for you to wait until medical requests before proceeding for your medicals.

The choice is yours as you deem fit!

Visa officer ! I am sorry for Challenging your Authority. Please I have 1 question for you , you sound like someone that works for IRCC and you speak with certainty! .I applied on July 24 and I haven't heard from your office What is the status of my application?
Your answer doesn't justify a response. I will just ignore and move on. I advise based on what I've read or understood and I don't claim to be perfect. But on this issue I'm very sure.

You have the right to believe or answer what you believe, irrespective of if it's wrong or right. Just be more civil when replying to people.

you guys should stop saying what you're not sure of ! I have heard about someone who did a 1 yr MBA and he got 3 yrs work permit. And moreover cic website says that person that study 1 yr course May get 1 year work permit. The key word here is MAY.
You are the one not sure of what you're saying, so be guided. So you remember someone who said they got 3 years work permit but CIC says a different thing?

I do not post what I'm not sure of. You should take time to read on how you can immigrate to Canada and what your options are after studying. It will sure help you out.

When you have done that, come back here and apologise.

Planning to apply to University of Western Ontario for MSc. Computer Science. The programme duration is 1.4years. I am worried if I will be able to get 3years PGWP after. Anyone sure about this?
If your course of study is less than 2 years of full time study, your work permit will be limited to the length of time of study. So 1 year study will get 1 year work permit. Only 2 years gets you 3 years work permit.

Also, your school has to be a DLI to enable you apply for a work permit. Please Google DLI to get better info.

You are very right on the highlighted. But review of eligibility hast to be started before a decision is made from my long observation working with people here. Even if it is for a few hours before a decision is rendered, the review of eligibility profiling has to be started even if it was started before and then went back to processing again. It has to start again. Bless the Lord we shall testify. Please the letter you received since what date? Is it similar to the generic letter I received and posted here in the house? When did you apply?

Ps: you mentioned CIC saying your application is under "active review." But the words used in other correspondences people have pasted is 'active processing' I am curious about your own letter and what is the difference with us that received one saying active processing.
Sorry about replying late. I've decided to not let CIC hold my entire life down. So I'm processing other things, trying to get new contracts (I work for myself)

On the letter, it's very similar to what you received but mine was an email. It also stated that my application was under active review, what that means I don't know!

I will reach out again this week and will revert with whatever response I get. All the best to us all! May we smile as we enter a new month.

How far since the active review letter?
My dear, still on background check. Eligibility review hasn't even started but you know this might not be indicative of inaction.

My school has told me to notify them once I receive a response from CIC. So I'm awaiting a positive response.

I strongly believe this week we will all get a response.

Good morning House,
I've got a few enquiries. I'm applying to do a PGD in Canada in the Sept next year.

* I've been in business for 7 years now, what are the requirements I'll need for my student visa application as an entrepreneur?
* Is it a good idea to do a course that changes my career completely? (I want to try and eliminate any reason for refusal of Student permit)
* Can i apply for student permit in November considering that i'm seeking for admission in Sept 2019?
* Any general advice for me?

Thanks in anticipation.
To answer your questions

1. Reading from page 0 is your friend.
2. No it is not a good idea. However, if you can show why you'll need to do this you might have a shot with a good SOP.
3. You can start your admission early as soon as you gather all your documents. However I'd advise you to begin early next year as that's when most school will open admissions.

For further clarification read from page 0!

Applied online June 1. Biometrics on 7th June. Eligibility review started early August and then went back to 'your application is in progress. We'll send you a message once your eligibility review begins' the next day. Sent mail and was told that my application is under active review late August.

Since then, no change to my status. I have notified mu school and was told to let them know once I get any response from CIC

Thanks appreciate the feedback but I do have a question can I defer admission upon landing in canada to work for a while before going back to school?
Your question doesn't need an answer but for courtesy sake, I'll give it.

It is because of this kind of action that study visas have become very difficult to get. When you applied, you stated that you had enough funds to complete your study in Canada so what changed? Why do you have to defer and work? Your permit is a study permit not a work permit. If you want to work, go and apply for a PR.

So my dear, you cannot defer your study to work. It will not work out for you in the end and will also impact others coming behind you!

Good day All

Please whats the Minimum amount required in a Sponsor Account for TRV pproval

My Sponsor has a closing balance of 7 million. Please your advice would be highly appreciated

Thanks
There is no amount per se. What you need to find out is how much your first year of study in Canada will cost. That will include your tuition, living expenses, accommodation and others like health care and transportation. When you determine this, convert it to Naira and that's your starting point.

Next, your sponsor must be able to afford this AND also show that they can also meet their own expenses at the same time. If the sponsor isn't a close family member, the burden of proof is much higher and the best thing is for them to transfer whatever funds into your own account.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply@Dwebb55. I actually tried looking for a PGD program in Canada but unfortunately couldn't find any, so I chose to go for this diploma which is related to Mechanical Engineering which is my first degree which I thought can serve as a TOP-UP. Concerning the SOP, can I state there clearly why I may be unable to support myself financially while responding to the reason for the previous application that was denied?
Giving the VO a reason like you being unable to meet your financial obligations isn't a good idea. Rather try and show how the education you'll gain will benefit you financially when you return and why you are not doing the program here. Based on your financial status you would be best served to undertake the course here so you'll have to address why it has to be Canada.

If you read page 0 of this thread, a comprehensive review of the reasons for denial are well explained.

Good morning all. Once again I humbly request that you share your thoughts about this. I just hope to get it right this time.
I can only give my opinion while others add theirs.

After having obtained a 3rd class, a PgD is progression in my opinion so the course you're pursuing is relevant. However you also need to see if your current duties are in line with your proposed studies and if not, address it in your SOP.

Next, address all reasons for the non approval of your previous visa application making sure you touch on each point.

You can get your aunt to move the funds she intends to spend on your sojourn into your account and get her to sign sn affidavit of sponsorship to show total commitment to the course.

Finally, you can check if the school you applied to is an accredited DLI (you can Google it) so as to be sure if you will be able to get a work permit after studying there.

Hope I've addressed most of your concerns

Upfront
I'd like to correct a view which seems to be getting quite common. Please note it doesn't apply to the moniker above but I just used it to buttress my point.

We've recently seen several expectees who didn't do medicals upfront but did it after submitting their biometrics to speed up their application if it is positive.

Now most people seem to call that 'upfront medicals'. That is simply wrong as it wasn't done upfront but after biometrics has been completed. It completely throws me off when people upload medical results much later after application submission and still call it up front medicals

You lived in the US for 18years of your life? Great to know! You have been claiming to be waiting for a visa since time immemorial. For your information, I just boarded the aircraft to leave Nigeria enroute to Toronto! Do you realize that I don't even care to know you? I have never reached out to you on this forum! You claim to know it all yet you are still lieing around that the visa officer are fighting you! You were issued an inadmissibility letter, so stop fooling around! Go and tell the admission people that I shouldn't have been awarded admission and also tell the visa officer that I shouldn't have been issued a study permit!
You don't need this! People need to learn to waka pass. You know you started this by referring to our country as a shithole so whatever comments people make just take in good faith and ignore. I'm not in support of what was said to you however your comments started this fireball and you should just apologise and move on. Trust me there will be many nights that you will miss this shithole country (from experience) and I'm sure you have family that you left behind here. Please let's keep our comments civil as we're not the only ones that read this blog.

I want to apply to three universities in Canada for my masters. They are all requesting for academic references. However, I do not really have any lecturer I talk to. I got my BSc in Ghana and I am back to Nigeria. I am planning to create three email addresses to represent three different lecturers and to send different recommendations myself. Please, do you advise I do this?
You are planning on deceiving the school. That means that all your application will begin based on a fabrication. Note that the schools have their own way of confirmation which you won't ve privy to. You don't need any advice. Do whatever you feel is the right thing!

Those that were slammed with a refusal after sending a CSE are paper route applicants and I must let you know that it's not because of the additional documents they sent that led to their immediate refusal, either it's probably the Visa officer in charge of their applications has already finalised/concluded with their applications. What I figured out was the CSE they sent only helped to fast track a response to their application decision, but never attributed to their refusal.

In regards your question, all paper applications are currently treated at Nairobi. Majority of online applications are processed in London, while of them are hanled at Lagos visa office. Your long-waited (14 weeks) application is most likely to be processed at the London visa office, they are always slow in visa process. Fall terms are generally known as a peak period for every Canadian embassies across the globe, because all schools in Canada have resumption date for this term. So, getting a response during this "Rush" season is usually not an easy task for the visa officers. Hence, continue sending a CSE to them owing to the fact that your application has exceeded the normal processing times for Nigerian applicants. You will surely get a response from them!
My application is also a mirror of Biakwa's own. A CSE was sent and I got a response of my application is currently under active review. Hopefully it will speedup the positive response from CIC!

On the issue of declaring, if you're taking over $10000 in cash, please declare it. However, knowing the attitude of our officials and from personal experience, try and move a lot of the funds onto a card. I declared my cash at the customs point only for the DSS to try to ask me where the source of the funds was and they threatened to delay me and make me miss my flight unless I come with them and 'settle'. Only the fact that my wife was pregnant and she insisted that if they detained me, they would have to detain her too made them release me. So save yourself the hassle and put it on a card!
