So, I got my Visa approved today. I applied last year and was rejected but was told I could appeal. I did this and with the help of Icas and most especially God, I appealed the decision and today, my visa was one of those on the approved list.

I am awaiting the reopening of our international flights and will be in Ireland when school resumes in September. My advice is to put God first and seek the counsel of experienced people on the forum. I pray that we are all favoured in the coming weeks

Saw the decisions uploaded this morning.

A 77% approval rate is very impressive.

To fellow folks waiting since March and applicants who recently submitted, I wish you the favorable outcome.

'Approved' does mean a lot.

For those who have filed appeals, follow up with your school and the embassy. Good news are starting to filter in!

If I may add, the Embassy of Ireland has requested for the copies to be in colour. You can go ahead to submit the black and white and VFS will receive whatever you submit. However, please note that you are starting your application on a bad note. You were asked to do a process in a certain way but you are wilfully doing it your own way. This indicates you might not be willing to follow rules. You can guess what the VO's first impression will be?

If your employer filed for CSEP or GEP for you which is valid for two years each, then u are not permitted to take another employment until you have worked one year for that employer. And when you arrive Ireland on these permits you get stamp 1 permission for both. Then after 2 years on CSEP you move to stamp 4, while you have to be on GEP for 5 years to be able to go to stamp 4.

Then while you are on stamp 4 which is PR, you are eligible to apply for citizenship after 5 years. Nobody gets stamp 4 by just getting a job from Nigeria. You can only get a stamp 4 on a shorter route if you are married to an Irish or EU citizen legally residing in Ireland.

Stamp 3 is for spouses or dependants of Stamp 1(excluding CSEP holder) and stamp 4 holders. Any holder of stamp 3 requires DSEP to work.

Spouses of stamp 1 holders under CSEP gets stamp 1G which enables them to work without employment permit.

Stamp 2 and 2A are for students and are not part of reckonable residence towards PR

Level 8 and 9 graduates gets stamp 1G as post graduate work permit

Stamp 1,1G,3 counts towards reckonable residence for PR

CSEP = Critical Skills Employment Permit
GEP= General Employment Permit
DSEP= Dependant/Spouse Employment Permit

Your working permits, can be invoke by company that invited you, if you don’t at least complete one year of working with the company that invited you .
I know a lot of Indians that moved here based on working permits from India and the salaries are crazy over 70K

But a stamp 4 is what you'll get if you apply for a job from here in Nigeria. Only those who studied at Level 8 or 9 are eligible for the Stamp 1G so it doesn't apply here. Well you have confirmed that jobs can be changed on a stamp 4!

But note you can’t change your job, if you are on working permits even thru they do anyhow.
But once you get your Stamp4 then you boom you alright.

Can you confirm this? I think the rule is that you can't change your job in the first year. After 2 years, you should be able to change jobs if you get a better one!

hey chiggsglover, i am about to apply for an MSC in perinatal mental health at the university of limerick. any idea if mental health jobs are lucrative over there? i am not a nurse tho.

my worry is that they may prefer nurses with mental health degree over me, i have a b.sc in biochemistry.

secondly i checked on indeed.com, and i saw the hourly pay is 25$ which is 200$ per day, 1,400& per week and 5600$ per month is that bad compared to the standard of living.... rent ,groceries and stuff?

Courses in the medical field are always in demand particularly after this Covid pandemic. So you should be covered in that regards. €25 hourly pay is quite high. Are you sure about that amount? If it is the rate then you are looking at €60k a year which is very, very good.

Check the critical skills list for Ireland but I doubt if it is there. Alternatively, try Canada as they have an agricultural immigration scheme which looks good!

Thanks for the information. Also learnt that Virgin is making plans to start flying in from August. We should however note that the best confirmation is from the Nigerian authorities!

Education bond is a good way to show your intention to study in Ireland, after your tuition fees have been paid. It is safe but the funds will be returned only in the event that your visa is refused. You should also submit the statement from where the funds was paid from and if I remember well, you can't pay for the bond from a corporate account,only from a personal one.

When submitting the statement, which should be for the last 4-6 months, any lump sum deposits or debits(200k and above) should be well explained.

Depending on your level of study, post graduate work permit is given. A BSc is 1 year PGWP while an MSc and above is 2 years PGWP.

Airports and international flights will definitely resume by Mid August at most.

These politicians also have their kids who are leaving for studies this September. Some are also due for their annual medical checkups. Some are also in desperate need to go on holiday with their side chicks & relive the whole stress from corona.

Besides it’s not the government at fault (at least for interstate travel). It is the airlines. The domestic airlines are yet to provide all necessary documents required to fly up again & some are yet to pass the maintenance checks. Allowing people to fly without adequate safety measures is risky & you know how careless Nigerians can be.

There’s still time though against September

To add to this, when the meeting between the stakeholders and the government was held, some management staff from German airports authorities were called in to see how countries that have opened were able to do so. The purpose was to streamline the opening of external airlines into the country shortly after local flights resume. Feelers are suggesting that a reopen might occur locally in the first week of July.

Let's wait and see and pray. The Ireland embassy will start processing for its September intake from tomorrow. Their plan is to have prospective students submit at VFS after which the submission will be sent to the Abuja embassy and then scanned to the VO in Ireland who will begin processing. We know our funds is much needed in the abroad so hopefully, action will be taken to reopen fully soon!

Hello everyone, I am in a state of confusion at the moment, and i know that I can be helped here.
Here's the thing, i got an offer to study Business and Financial Management from Northumbria University London Campus, I already made my deposit payment since February, as the admission was for May before I deferred to September. I have my funds in my account (school fees balance + living cost). The issue is that I would love to go with my husband and kids as tier 4 dependants (my husband has the three of them living expenses in his account) because we plan on starting afresh over there and all.

Here's my confusion, I have been having a second thought about London due to the expensive lifestyle and the fact that i heard that London is not so safe to raise a family and all, so I decided to search for other schools and then found Glasgow Caledonian University in scotland and i also discovered that I could be eligible to receiving 50 to 100% scholarship due to my CGPA.. I would love to know if schooling in Scotland and more specifically, schooling in GCU is a better decision in comparison to Northumbria? Also, hope I would be eligible for the 2 years post grad work permit if I school there? Lastly, is the course SOCIAL INNOVATION a good course or I should simply stick to Msc in Accounting and Finance (i currently hold a Bachelors degree in Accounting)

Scotland is a lovely place to school in and Glasgow is one of its major cities. You would be able to apply for the 2 years post study visa if you graduate with your MSc there.

With regards to the course, I really do not have any clue but others might be more able to assist in that regards. For your husband, you might look up availability of jobs online for his line of work experience to know how marketable the city of Glasgow is! Others can also fill you in with regards to NU.

Another factor to consider is if you will be able to get a full refund for your deposit but if you are getting a scholarship, it might help with your fees. Please check the skills shortage list to know if accounting is good to study as well.

A friend going to Coventry received her CAS today! That should mean things are speeding up for reopening. Hopefully, our government will reopen the borders so that the Visa offices can resume.

Yes some schools have plans.University of Lincoln sent me an email on their plans. They advised international students to come two weeks before resumption date. In other for them to be quarantine. During the two weeks they will provide food other amenties so you dont move around.

But the sad part is this plan is for those who will be staying in the school accommodation, they did not state any plans for students who will stay in private accusations.


You will have wait for your school plans. I am still waiting for my school to send their plans. So I can make up my mind on staying in school halls or not.

I guess you can book a hotel or Airbnb before going over. My understanding is you have to show an address where you can quarantine during your immigration checks.

A lot of things are still up in the air. The lady from Wontra travels said on radio today that embassies are closed because they have flown many of their staff back to their home countries. They might not be able to reopen until we open the airports here to international travel and it might be ending of June before this is done.

Applications should hopefully be allowed from June ending or early July but that leaves applicants with around 8 weeks before schools will open.

I believe schools are making provision for the quarantine period. Your best bet though is to apply early so that you can get your visa quickly and you can enter the UK ahead of your resumption.

Again, you can put your funds on a card for ease of mind and I always advice people to do that like I stated in the post(which you've ignored) but if you can't then declare it. And there is no law against you carrying more than $10k. You only run foul if you don't declare it which is what the DSS guy thought. It was resolved after my spouse stepped in and we showed the declaration
