www.cnbc.com/amp/2019/08/28/i-saved-100000-in-3-years-at-age-27-here-are-my-money-saving-tips.html

Let me share my view here sir! I am not in Canada but in Ireland though. Before coming to Ireland, my target was to earn €45000 to €50000 per annum within 2 years of working here. I made that in less than a year and my household should more than double that once my spouse and kids join me. That same period, I know someone who went from earning €35k to €80k(IT sector though) and I have friends and colleagues now who earn > €90k singly here.

Long story short is that with proper planning and preparation, a family can easily save €40k a year and that's with you paying rent. If you have the down payment for a mortgage, you can also save that and more while investing in your own property.

Many stories of woes are from those who didn't plan well or don't have legit documentation or had other types of issues. Many are doing well and are not blasting it on SM. I do pray and hope that Nigeria improves and becomes better, but with these current crop of leaders, e go hard.

Ire oh!

Guys, I need solid advise... I am yet to get a visa for Ireland, but I checked Ethiopian airways and Qatar airways, their fares from Lagos to Dublin are relatively cheap now, less than 500k for January.

Should I go ahead and book a ticket even when I don't have a study visa yet? What if I don't get the visa (God forbid), will I be refunded?

Advice.

Please wait until your visa is out before buying your flight ticket.

Some of the '49' numbers are most likely Join family.

Also, I submitted early March, no decision yet.

I agree. Some of them are definitely JFV!

Nothing yet, I just want to know if they are even making decisions on Join family visa so I can estimate the time I may get a decision for my husband’s application. No one is saying anything. How can they update 50 decisions and non are join family. When students are no longer applying, so what exactly is stoping them from attending to family?

Many of them were JFV! If uou look at some numbers that follow each other and all were the same decision, you can deduce that those ones were from one family. Our application numbers also follow the same pattern. Based on the numbers though, hopefully they should get to April and then May.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Lemme respond to Femo7 In the policy document, CSEP join family visa is clearly stated withing 6 months, what about that? I have a Malawian whose family will join her, she has booked their flight. The Nigerian lady applied for her husband before the Malawian but the Malawian family is on their way already, Nigerian stil waiting on queue. Took the Malawian about 2 months after application to bring her fam.

Well said Olaiya! Family member applications of CSEP for the JFV is supposed to take a maximum of 6 months. There were some approvals and rejections on the list released yesterday. I pray all our applications end in success.

Getting the visa is just hurdle 1, getting accommodation is another stress. Our application is already over 6 months. Hopefully we will receive good news soon. People should please share their timeliness. Those who have received should also share the good news with details to encourage others. May it all end in joy!

Why would an agent want you to pay your school fees through him? You have access to the Internet and can confirm whether they are valid or not. My personal advice is to run away from such agents before you get burned

1. Every airline has a maximum weight for bags. It doesn’t matter the size of the bag, all that matters is the weight.

2. Check with the airline you are using. They will be the best to inform you.

Some airlines actually indicate the sizes of allowed bags but not all. Your best bet is to go on the website of the airline and search for baggage allowance. Everything will be well illustrated there!

Oh Gosh this is disheartening. What can we do to resolve this? Eveb if it’s just to let them know we are tired and want change. I am ready to go to any protest regarding this. Discrimination and racism in this 21st century should not be swept under the rug and letting them get away with this. How can they be giving Indians and Philippians JFV in less than 1 month. Are we not humans like them? This is so unfair.

The wait can be really disheartening. No one knows what is going on. There is no information from anywhere, you can't even predict what date of application they are on. There's no idea about how many were approved, how many were denied! It is frustrating.

For India though, their government stood up for them. That is why they are not joked with. They also have plans and processes in place to help their citizens. Many people who can't afford the cost of study have access to loans which they pay back over several years after completing their studies. A good friend did his studies with loans, has started working now and pays back €300 every month.

Our own government, silence!!!!

Jfv are processed in Abuja and not Dublin office. I have an Indian that joined his spouse in a month this year. What about that? Don't use the list from Dublin office to judge.

The waiting times for the Indian JFV is days and it's stated on their websites.

There is no such data on the Abuja visa office for JFV which could behove that it is not processed there in this new dispensation. I know for a fact that ours is being treated in the Dublin office because we were emailed when the documents were sent to the Dublin office for processing.

Whether this happened to other applications, I would not know but the Abuja office confirmed that our documents were sent to the Dublin office for processing!

I pray this struggle to end someday.

According to the list from Dublin, no JFV has been treated for about 2 weeks but that is going by the list released every Tuesday. For those applications made last year, only God knows what metrics they use to treat them

This is awesome. Me too. Moving from construction to data analysis, then data science as a semi-stop.

Im on the self-taught train but i have quite a number of networks helping me.

There is a road path that i researched for myself, as well as people who might want to learn on their own.

1. Programming for data science with python - udacity

2. Python 3 - codecademy

3.IBM Data analyst professional certificate -coursera

4. Data visualization with tableau- coursera

5. Data science - databricks (basic basic )

Please note that all of these courses are premium (paid)

So far, i v certs in just the first 2 and i v a handful knowledge of python (pandas , numpy), sql, tableau, github, and excel for analysis, well enough to get my first job (entry level).

With the Will and determination, one will go places...

Have you thought about digital twins and building energy modelling? Most of the software used is python based and it could be a halfway house between engineering and IT. It would enable you not neglect your construction experience and profit from the experience gained.

You might have to do a certification course in it or in Sustainable Energy Engineering but its a growing field that is expanding at the moment!

No news from this week visa decision? Abi una no wan share. Let's hear from anyone that received a decision for join family visa this week.

The embassy has yet to treat new applications for the past 3 weeks based on its release on the Dublin visa office website. Most applications from Nigeria I believe, are treated in Dublin. They have been on the 30th of March for 3 weeks now. No update was done this week.

Fact is Ireland visa applications are complicated and the Join Family visa seems to be the most complicated of all. There's no telling what it is they scrutinise with.

Let's just have faith and hopefully it will reach us in due time. It is not easy to be fair!

VFS Global even said that the apostilled is not compulsory. I can confirm to you that nurses in Ireland are taking the delay matter up and pushing for something to be done urgently. Their colleagues from India, Philippines etc get their join family visa within a month or two, in fact I know one that recently moved her family within a month but Nigerians, Ghanaians processed in Abuja take months with low approval rate. You too can join the fight, tweet and tag Ireland embassy abuja, INIS and other relevant bodies you feel necessary.

Despite what VFS says, it is clearly stated on the immigration website that all documents such as wedding and birth certificates as well as all government issued certificates must be apostilled!

https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming-to-join-family-in-ireland/joining-a-non-eea-non-swiss-national/join-non-eea-family-member/#doc

I have attached the link above. If you read the guide which explains what needs to be done, it is a whole paragraph infact. If it is stated on their website, it is best to comply.

Secondly, on the Dublin website, they have treated applications up till the 30th of March 2022. I think this is for the new application route which began this year. Applications for those submitted last year are also being treated separately.

Wishing everyone best of luck in our applications

Hello people

So I have a friend preparing for her journey to Ireland. Via Turkish Airline, but the challenge is luggage. The 23kg x2 capacity isn't clearly enough for clothes, shoes and most importantly foodstuffs.

Can an extra 23kg box or 15kg be accepted to mk it 3 bags any additional costs associated? How much ? Especially when it has to do with Turkish Airlines.

The amount you will pay for the extra luggage doesn't make any sense. You can just as easily use the money to come and buy the food stuff here. Food stuff like rice, beans and garri plenty for here. Maybe just bring some small ognono and dried ugwu leaves but most of the stuff can be obtained here

For me though, I didn't show my sponsor's bank statement.
I only showed my sponsor's payslip to show that after paying my fees, she can still take care of herself.
If you can add the bank statement, you can but I don't think its necessary going by the rules.

It's important as @princeadex04 mentioned to show a strong link between you and sponsor.

I would advise that you submit your sponsors account statement and explain all lump sums above N100k. A lot of refusals are due to unexplained finances and you can't predict who will review your case

January intake? Are you sure about this? I thought almost all universities in Ireland admit only once (September) a year?
How much do you currently have that you want to save before January?
You will have to pay €11,000 for tuition fee
lodge €7000 for Edubond, then maybe have about €7000 in your bank account as proof of funds for visa application. But honestly, this part where after one has lodged €7000 with Edubond and still present bank statements of €7000 is discouraging me.

The total should be around €25,000 which is above 11 million naira. Accommodation, flight and other things not included. Mmh. Na wa ooo.

You do not have to show proof of funds twice. The Edubond should be enough but it should not mean that your account should be totally empty after activating the bond.

If you are being sponsored however, your sponsor must show that he/she has funds left over for their family upkeep after sponsoring you

No, just an educated guess as explained previously.

The numbers are not indicative of the join family visa. It is more an indication of when you completed your online application. For those being treated in Dublin, they are currently treating those applications they received in mid February

Thanks a lot for your detailed insight. Do you remember if you had to attest the marriage certificate when you did yours? Was it the case before the new rules, or this attestation has become the new rule since January?

Also, please how can my wife apply directly to the Dublin office? Did the consultant help with moving it to Dublin too? How can I reach the consultant?

The attestation was not necessary before the néw rules but any application from this year needs it. The agent was obtained by the work place and was used for both the CSEP and the visa. If you are here in Ireland, there are a host of immigration lawyers who are reputable and capable. House rules will not allow one to name them but of you Google immigration lawyers in Ireland, many will come up and you can call them up.

Best of luck in your application

Mighty glad to find this thread after a long search. Kudos to the creators and contributors for putting this up. May we all get our families reunited soon.

So here’s my situation.
I am a CSEP holder and have recently applied for work visa to relocate to Ireland. Due to the stories of long waiting times for Join family visa in Nigeria, we have decided to apply for JF visa for my wife now so she would have a shorter time to join me after I eventually move.

My questions:
I read somewhere that Marriage Certificates are meant to be apostilled/authenticated before being submitted for visa application. Is this absolutely necessary, if so, how do I go about it and how long does this usually take?

For those who got the JF visas after 3 months, what did you do different?

The new rules are set out in the explanation for the new process for the join family visa. Whether it is absolutely necessary, I do not know as this new process began in January.

My friend who moved his family used an immigration consultant (Irish) and their approval after obtaining the CSEP took just under 3 months. If you check the waiting times for a Join family visa to be processed in Ireland, it is about 10 weeks currently. For Nigeria though, I cannot say. However, our application was moved to the Dublin office and that is where wecare following for any updates.

Be advised that you require at least 3 years Post study continuous residence in Ireland to get permanent residency which is stamp 4 and above. That is assuming after your study, you spent 1 year on stamp 1G and was able to get an employment under critical skills employment permit, then after 2 years on critical skills employment permit, you can apply for stamp 4. If you are so lucky, you may get critical skills employment immediately after graduation from school

It is possible to get your CSEP immediately after your stamp 2 study visa. I would assume that you have several years of work experience which should help you get a good job before you graduate and while negotiating your offer, ask your prospective employer to apply for a CSEP on your behalf. That will shorten the time for a Stamp 4 to just under 2 years. Once you have your Stamp 4, you are good to go

I will be applying for my Ireland study visa soon and it's not really clear what support documents are required.

I've seen on this thread someone talking about attestation of documents by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Population Council.

I can't find any of such here: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming-to-study-in-ireland/what-are-my-study-visa-options/how-to-apply-for-long-term-study-visa/#guide

From those who are more experienced and have walked this path, are there any local requirements one should be aware of?

E.g I was born before 1992, will I need attestation of DoB from NPC?

If you read through the post it was clearly stated that those are the requirements for a join family visa. You do not need it for a study visa. However, reconfirm from the Irish Immigration website

Hello guys ,

Just some advise from anyone who is aware of critical skill employment permit work conditions.

Is it advisable for someone working with critical skill employment permit with an employer to take up a casual job apart from his main employment ? This fellow is working full time with his main employer where the work permit is issued to and he’s hoping to do a part time casual work .. can this be an issue when he wants to transfers to stamp ? He will be applying for join family visa for the wife soon as the sponsor, they need his Irish bank statements of 6months … if he’s doing a casual job aside his main employment, do you guys think the salary coming from both employers showing in his bank statements be an issue with immigration? I will appreciate yours response guys and God bless you all for the good work here

While I do not think it will affect any future applications (emphasis on think), can the person cope with a full time job and a casual job? If it is a weekend job, maybe but if the hours are clashing then the main headache will be from your full time job because if your employer finds out, you may be out of a job soon.

I would advise for cautiousness. One doesn't know what or where a fault may come from and it's better to err on the side of caution

Hello,

Please I need help from those resident in Republic of Ireland. I got a job in a job there but I am being asked to pick 5 locations of my choice in ascending order. I don't want Dublin because my findings says it's expensive.

If you don't mind; I need a suggestions on locations with affordable rent, good public transport system with low waiting times at the bus stops/stations and access to African stores.

I have attached the Locations. Some of the locations in case the attached are not care is Kildare, Dundalk, Portas, Portlaise, Kerry, Gorey Co Wexford, Limerick, Sligo, South Tipperary, Nevan, Dublin 24, 14, 11, 9 , 7, 2 Athlone, Longford.

One thing to be careful of is that you are being asked of where you want work/live. As far as I know, apart from jobs in healthcare, most jobs and offices are already located and established in certain areas. If you are not in healthcare like nursing and medicine, radiography etc, I would be very sceptical of a job offer asking for where the applicant wants to work. Especially if you are being asked to pay for some services! That should definitely be a red flag!

Thanks

You cannot apply for the Stamp 1G until you graduate and your final results are out. The school will need to send a letter and your final results will also be requested.

However, you can begin to work full time (40 hours a week) once you complete your second semester exams and the results are out. For courses that begin in September, that means you can start work from June 1st as stated in the guidance
