Firstly, All Glory belongs to God.
This is my second time going to the embassy in recent time. I had interviewed for a visit visa in October and was approved.

I got to the embassy around 7am but my Visa time was for 8am. I was one of the first people to be there so we had to wait by the road before the embassy began receiving visitors. As soon as it was 7am we were all ushered in. I was processed with those that had earlier slots. They never said my time hadn't reached yet.

After clearing security we moved in to the wait area. By this time it was about 8am. I didn't get called in for the interview to just about 9am.


Interview proper:

The beautiful lady was my interviewer. She had approved 2 peoples visa (F1 and B1/2) before before the guy ahead of me. She however denied the guy ahead of me. He stuttered alot and wasn't confident in his response. I felt sorry for him but I didn't let his denial get to me.

VO: Have you been to the US before.
Me: yes, I have. I was there last December to visit friends.
VO: what do you do?
Me: I currently work with (an IOC) as a Supply Chain Advisor. I have been there for the last 10years and have..*VO cuts me*
VO: what will you be doing after this program?
Me: I'd be back to the company. The program is needed so I can progress from operations to managerial/leadership cadre. The covid 19 pandemic highlighted the importance of Supply chain management and as an intelligent organisation, my company has decided to expand the scope of our supply chain dept *VO cuts me*
VO: you said you've been working for 10years?
Me: yeah
VO: *stares surprised* how?
Me: *smiling* I know. I don't look it. I started working with them at 22 and I'm 32 now.
VO: did you do anything before then?
Me: yes, I worked a year with the defunct Virgin Nigeria.
VO: ok, take this slip. It should tell you how to retrieve your passport.


No single document was called for.
She only looked at my I20 that was tucked inside my passport.
Again, I thank God for the successful interview.

Tip: pls be confident. If you memorise answers, the questions might not be asked.

I'm going in for an interview. Pls is it important that these portions are signed?

Change of status will take you at least a year. And the school will not accept you to school as B1/B2.
I have B1/B2 but I have had to apply for F1.

You should apply for F1. Get the date available and then request for emergency visa date. If you follow this thread you'd see how people go about requesting for the emergency date. I don't have indept knowledge of it as I didn't have to go that route.

Please I need your advice on the next steps to take.

I already bought a return ticket to travel for my annual vacation next week Tuesday (July 5) on my B1/B2 Visa before I got an offer from the University of Maryland for MBA/MSc Information Systems (Fall 2022) with partial funding and a graduate assistantship.

I have made the first deposit and the school has sent the I-20 with the earliest admission date of July 23 and a program start date of August 22. However, I am yet to apply for a student visa because the available dates are way after the start date.

Please I need your opinions on whether it is wise to proceed with my travel as planned and try to change to F1 after I arrive in the US either by going to Mexico or wait in Nigeria till a date becomes available because I don't want complications. A newly admitted student in the same program told me that she paid an agent for an interview date but hasn't gotten in more than 2wks. I don't want to pay an exorbitant fee to change my ticket and still not get an interview date to enable me to join this cohort. That would mean deferring till January 2023 and the funding isn't guaranteed.

Please is there anyone here who has gone the route of applying for an F1 visa from neighbouring US countries or changed from B1/B2 to F1 in recent times? Please what is the success rate? I know that applying from Nigeria isn't certain and I am mindful of that as well because if the student visa is denied, entering the US on a visit visa becomes questionable because of a change of intent.

I have extensive travel history and never overstayed my visas. I have renewed my US Visa multiple times without issues and do not want to jeopardize that.

In my Ds160 form I mentioned I have a sibling in the United States. Her spouse was transfered their US office and his family was relocated along side him. This move happend in December 2021.

Prior to now, I got issued a B1 in August and in that form I didn't mention I have a sibling cos at that time I didn't.

Pls do you think this information can work against me now? Or do I change it? My interview is coming up on Thursday.

I got admitted for a program with sponsorship by way of graduate assistantship covering the tuition.
I however have $3600 to pay each semester, totalling $18,000 for 5 semesters for about 2 and a half years.

I'm beginning to make arrangements for the interview. How much would be appropriate to have in my account?
Is it OK to lodge lump sums in different batches starting now till the date of the interview? Would it be a good explanation to say I liquidated some crypto assets I have resulting in the lump sum deposits?
I have been working for over 12years and I have been saving in crypto for a while.

Also I currently have an active US visit visa already and I have travelled and returned.

Not true. It is not uncommon to have two types of visas stamped. It is better you apply from your home country rather than from the US. So long!

I heard a rumor I need clarity on.
I have a tourtist B1/B2 visa that is barely 4months old, and now I want to apply for an F1 for school.
Someone mentioned that if they reject the F1 it's likely they will withdraw the Active B1/B2 I have.

Please is this possible? And why?
I have been advised not to apply for F1 for this reason.

UK has suspended processing visit visa applications until the travel restrictions is lifted.
This is sad and unjust.
Most of Europe this new variant, yet no travel restrictions.
For short of words, this action is somewhat racist.
God will help all still expecting their decision/passport.

I did with first bank yesterday. I have been debitEd this morning and asked to come pick up $$ a few minutes ago.
I think you should contact the bank. Like I mentioned yesterday, there is a new process of raising Form A. You do it yourself online, upload documents and all. Afterwhich you print it out and go to the bank.
This is a very new development.

They actioned a request for withdrawal I did via call last week Thursday night.
I'm glad it successfully came out.
I will apply for UK visa sometime else when it's convenient as my trip on Tuesday is sacrosanct.

I will call them later to find out if withdrawal will be seen as rejection in view of me applying another time.
I will revert with whatever information I get on this.

Also, for those that need PTA, the process has changed. You now register with Treasury monitoring system, fill a form and upload documents before taking it to the bank.

I got a mail for pickup today.
I am just in the tls office abuja for pickup. They said I should come back before 3 cos I had chosen DHL but I want to pick it myself.

Remember I was here yesterday to process withdrawal. By 3 I will find out if the collection is from my withdrawal request or from a decision being made and passport sent back.

Will update when I receive my passport.

I met a man that had to withdraw. He applied on Friday online and got it yesterday.
He and his family did biometrics for transit visa on 26th Oct but had an urgent trip to make with his family

No they usually don't.
They just return your passport with the mail or document stating reason fir denial.

I was able to get into Abuja to withdraw my application.
Yes there seems to be a glitch that even tls abj doesn't know(or admit). I too got the green tick on Application Transferred to VAC.
I have done the withdrawal request, I hope to pickup my passport on or before Friday.

Am at Ibadan but the way I need the passport I think I will go to the office Monday so I can request for the passport so by Wednesday I can have it.

If they allow the option of getting back your passport while your application is still processing will go for that and if not I will cancel my application and get back my passport

Because when I try to message them that I need my passport urgently they never respond so instead of wating for their response it’s better I go there and get things sorted that one will be more faster than waiting for them to reply.


Do you get the info from their staff or from their website?

It takes 48hrs to get the passport from the time you request for withdrawal. This request is done at the vls office.
Unfortunately I work remotely and can't go to their office. Hence why I choose for the passport to be DHL back to me. The plan was, I leave work on Sunday, then travel Tuesday.

If you can get to their office, try and do it.
However, you should also ask for the option of retrieving your passport while your application is still being processed. This option is available on their site, so I'm sure they offer that too. See below.

Hello, please how can I submit application using priority service. I can only see standard visa submission only.

I just spoke to someone in the UK center again. I asked they return my passport even if it means withdrawing my application. I then asked how long it will take to get it cos I need to get with my appointment in the US.
The lady there said she doesn't know.
Like what are we really paying the charges for if these call attendants can't provide the necessary feedback.
I'm beyond frustrated at this point.
They are literally saying there is no end to when one can wait for their passport.
