Lawyers must chop abi? Have u read the CBN's earlier address on all the issues raised? Anyway, apart from Oceanic, Goody Ibru too has billions of non-performing loans. So I want to believe the Guardian newspapers is not impartial.

@presido

Pls read Ribadu's testimony to the Met. He specifically mentioned Ibori & Andy Uba's names. The guy was obviously inherently handicapped during his tenure but he is still light years ahead of madam jewelry seller

@ Beerlegend

Ur so pessimistic about da country, why? How come ur observations are always in the negative? For me, conviction is the hallmark, not the number of months/years they spent in jail. Compare Tafa's sentence to Lucky's and maybe u'll be cured of ur diarrhea

Before anyone should respond with further crap, let that person point to us any corrupt politician that ribadu convicted and jailed despite heading EFCC for over 4 years. What a record.
Do you live in Nigeria @ all? Do you read? We were all witnesses to the conviction of Tafa Balogun, Afolabi, etc. Remember the Siemens saga? Between 2003 & 07, there was no way Ribadu could prosecute the governors b/c they had immunity. By 2007, Aondoakaa started to frustrates his moves.

Pls read his testimony to the London Metro police. Now pls tell all readers on this forum how many corrupt politicians have been prosecuted between the AG and the EFCC chairman.

PoliticsRibadu, Back In The Country, Visit Gani's Family. by Eagle1(op): 9:24am On Sep 11, 2009
lt was total mayhem at the home of late Gani Fawehinmi late Thursday when a surprise visitor came calling.

Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, arrived at the residence at about 6.30pm dressed in a white Babanriga and a black skullcap accompanied by his lawyer, Femi Falana. He went straight to speak with the late lawyer's spouses and children.

After his 15 minutes discussion with the family, Mr. Ribadu signed the condolence register. He wrote in about 10 lines, saying he came to pay his last respect to a great Nigerian who fought genuinely for the poor, and to express gratitude to a man who "shaped my life by the example of a worthy living." When a journalist sought his views about the state of the nation, and about his time at Oxford University in the U.K. where he is completing a fellowship at St. Anthony's College, Mr. Ribadu said, "It's absolutely not about me that we are here today gentlemen. It's about a man who showed great example in sacrifice and selflessness. That is why I am here and kindly do let us keep it to that.

As he sought to leave, other mourners turned into a cheering crowd seeking a photo opportunity with him and damaging his car as he tried to evade the surging admirers.

From the house, Mr. Ribadu along with the Fawehinmi's drove to the mortuary where the remains of Mr. Fawehinmi laid at the Lekan Ogunsola Memorial Home at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

At the mortuary, flanked by Gani's two wives, and about half a dozen children, Mr. Ribadu moved towards the corpse which was being dressed as they entered and, touching it, started saying a silent prayer asking God to "forgive Mr. Fawehinmi's sins, as we seek a passage for him to paradise."
Mr. Ribadu added in heavy voice: "Here you lay quiet and gentle, and for all that will secure you easy path to the realm of the anointed, let Allah place a blessing today."

While in the mortuary, news of his presence had spread, attracting a large crowd at the gate, making it difficult to leave easily.

Many stretched their hands to touch him, others seeking autographs. "It is a proper thing for him to do" Mr. Falana said of his client's visit, adding that "Ribadu and Gani were like father and son and there was no way he would be at peace with himself not to say the final good bye."

After leaving the hospital, Mr. Ribadu then drove off towards the Murtala Muhammed airport.

Mr. Ribadu was dismissed from the police on 23 December 2008 in a controversial decision by the Nigerian Police Service Commission. He is currently on a fellowship at Saint Antony's College at the Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

How come there are no commercials about Somali pirates? I honestly think the media is being deliberately manipulated to make it look like scamming is a nigerian thing. Its takes 2 to tango, the scammer and the greedy idiot who believes the bullshit. This Sony rubbish is part of an agenda to deny/acknowledge our positive(individual and collective) contributions to global advancement. So sad.

@jakumo ki rin l'osan,

your fingers are quite deft at villifying your so-called pot-bellied Okija or Ososa shrine attendees. These shrine goers are the same pple that ur man used in coercing the state into its current anti-pple posture. Ogun state is currently comatose using all indices of development. The state never had it so bad in terms of insecurity. It was in the state that armed robbers had such a field day that about 70 people were killed when an on-coming articulated vehicle ran over them while lying on the road at the mercy of these armed robbers. Even the gov's loyalists like Wale Adedayo ran when they could no longer stomach the perfidy called governance. It is in this state that the a traditional ruler was threatened with deposition for saying the there is no develoment in his domain, the state where N400million was found in a cook's bank account. Maybe you don't read newspapers, read them upside down or u're part of the systemic destruction/looting of the state.
