I mean there are other ethnic groups and geopolitical zones in the country (depending on how you look at it). Why this desperation for power by core north? Why can't the core north wait for 4, 8, or 12 years as the case may be if for power if they indeed love Nigeria?

Igbos have endured being out of power for decades now; actually thrived without it. There are other ethnic groups like the Efik, Ibibio, Annangs, Idoma with sizeable population. Why not them?

I think it's all fair if power should rotate across geopolitical zones, as every zone can provide a credible individual for presidency - not necessary some political heavy weight.

In any case, kaita have given many neutrals reasons why power should remain in the south, or at the minimal away from core north. If Nigeria will divide as a result of this, it simply confirms the idea that Nigeria was not meant to be. We can certainly survive, even thrive, without Nigeria.
