Everyone knows Orji Kalu, the vulture is doing a hatchet job for his Hausa Fulani masters. Even foreigners know that Buhari and his soldiers either killed NK, his father, and mother, and either buried or burnt their bodies, or they have them locked up in some airless dungeon right now.
The tragedy of our democracy is that those who should be asking the army to produce NK are now the ones planting fake news about how he somehow managed to escape the invading Burutai army that murdered everything on their path.

Politics › Re: The Nigerian Operating IPOB’s Paris Account Unmasked By Security Agencies by eagleu: 5:33am On Sep 25, 2017 |
sarrki: Tw Go Pint Lin Wh ‘No dialogue with separatists’
Security agents have identified the Nigerian suspected to be operating the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Paris, France, it was learnt at the weekend.
The government last week said money was being raised from some Nigerians in the diaspora to fund IPOB.
Funds were also raised from events, including a football tournament organised in Senegal, for the banned organisation.
Funds raised from the diaspora Nigerians’ donation and other sources are remitted to an account in Paris from where it is disbursed for the organisation’s activities.
The account holder was not named at the weekend.
A source said: “Security agencies are still conducting more checks before releasing the details on the fellow running the Paris, France account on behalf of IPOB and its leader.
“When the necessary investigation is completed, the findings will be presented to the French government for appropriate action in line with the laws in France.
“These agencies will also trace other accounts in some jurisdictions where funds were remitted into the Paris account.”
The proscription of IPOB has been sealed with the Federal Government’s gazette of its ban.
This puts to rest speculations of a reversal of the decision as a result of a political solution.
With the gazetting of the proscription, the group ceases to exist by the nation’s law and the government might have ruled out dialogue with Kanu.
A top government source said: “The proscription order was gazetted by the Federal Government on Thursday. So, there is no going back on our position that the organisation remains illegal.
“Whether IPOB is registered abroad or anywhere is immaterial. The most important thing we have achieved is that the terrorist group can no longer operate in this country.
“The gazette is the climax of the presidential proclamation and the decision of the court on it.
“Any Nigerian or group associating with IPOB is doing so at a greater risk.”
Asked if the Federal Government would dialogue or negotiate with the IPOB leader, the source said: “No government will relate with a terrorist organisation. Certainly, any talk of dialogue is remote.”
Following an ex-parte motion by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of JusticeAbubakar Malami (SAN), Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court Justice Abdul Kafarati, last week granted the proscription request.
He restrained “any person or group of persons from participating in any of the group’s activities”.
He ordered the AGF to ensure the publication of the IPOB proscription order in the official gazette and in two national dailies.
He ruled: “That an order, declaring the activities of the respondent – Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) – in any part of Nigeria especially in the South-East and South-South regions of Nigeria amount to acts of terrorism and illegality, is granted.
http://thenationonlineng.net/security-agencies-unmask-ipobs-paris-account-holder/ I missed when the proscription of IPOB was debated, voted for, and adopted by the national assembly, then signed into law by the president, before being gazzetted. I smell too much military dictatorship! |

-By Wale Akinola The ongoing destructive ‘Python Dance’ of the Nigerian troops in the South-east states of Nigeria is easily the most futile conceivable strategy for defeating the growing Biafra consciousness in Igboland. It’s a thought police witch-hunt operation. And it is destined to end in a shameful retreat like all brawny wars waged against persuasions rooted in hearts and minds. The barbarous militarization of the reasonably quiet geopolitical zone is a bald-faced abuse of the Nigerian army. Emptying the barracks into civilian space in the absence of a present or imminent security threat is creating a gladiatorial arena for no just reason. It should never have happened because it is unconstitutional for the president of Nigeria to deploy troops on a whim. And even if were, it's an repulsive course of action because its atmospherics cannot but help solidify the case for Biafra 2.0, radicalize the youths of the region, and create the perfect storm that didn’t exist before the soldiers’ siege. The ‘Python Dance’ does not have any perceptible prospect of getting Igbo heartland over a barrel. It can only be counterproductive. It will lend momentum to Nnamdi Kanu’s cause, enlarge his support base, and enhance his profile as an ordained prophet-leader of Biafra’s second exodus. The ‘Python Dance’ panacea is a dumb idea. The only way it begins to make sense as a present-day reality understands that it is a dramatic product of the intersection of the Biafra paranoia of President Muhammadu Buhari and the snake fetishism of his army chief, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai. President Buhari is sick from Biafra. He is obsessed with Biafra. He dreads Biafra, nourishes that dread, and makes his nightmares out of its intangible essence. Buhari is so tormented by a seemingly ubiquitous apparition of Biafra that he is expressing and exercising that fear as state policy. He is radiating that fear like a distressed coward vested with military omnipotence. He is transmitting that fear as a command, making his anxiety the lived experience of other people. The current siege on Igboland stemmed from Buhari’s desperate need to attack his own Biafra paranoia. He fears that if he hesitates to preemptively destroy Biafra, Biafra will destroy him. He believes the only pro-Biafra activists that can't haunt him and aggravate his fears are the ones killed in cold blood. Buhari unleashed Nigerian soldiers on Igboland in a bid to annihilate the fear he harbored within. The facts on the ground did not demand the deployment of a trigger-happy army of occupation to the South East. But he had to validate his Biafran paranoia by dispatching the military. President Buhari’s short broadcast on his return from London, after 104 days in medical exile, was all about the putative unity of Nigeria and how Biafra would secede over the dead bodies of its canvassers. Of the myriad issues that needed to be addressed, he laser-focused on Biafra. He prioritised and singularised it. As far he was concerned, it was the most serious problem of Nigeria because it represented his greatest private headache. During his first briefing with military chiefs, he gave them marching orders to destroy ‘threats to national security and unity’. And by that, he meant Biafra. The Biafra he never tires of vowing to ‘crush’. Fortunately, he has a brutal automaton for chief of army staff. Buratai is in sync with his commander in chief’s anti-Igbo hate. And he received the instruction as another chance to immortalize himself as a militant agent of the Grim Reaper. In November last year, he launched ‘Operation Python Dance 1’ in the five South East states. He rationalized the provocative militarization as a mission necessitated by ‘’violent agitations by separatist groups’’. That was a false pretext for invading the Igbo space and assaulting the sensibilities of the people. There were no violent agitations in Igboland at the time. Buratai’s relaunch of his ‘Python Dance’ consequent upon Buhari’s order scarcely lasted 24 hours before claiming its first innocent causalities: 3 dead and 20 severely wounded. By Buratai’s standards, this figure from the army’s raid of Nnamdi Kanu’s residence is nothing. It’s nowhere close to his Zaria overkill. The military occupation of the South East has now thrown parts of the zone into turmoil, with civilians mustering some forms of resistance. This is a needless crisis. It is a case of making trouble for the fun of it. The codename of the military operation, ‘Python Dance’, reveals that its purpose is to satisfy an expensive taste. General Buratai is a snake fetishist who takes pride in indulging his fantasy. He is cashing in on his headship of the Nigerian army to eternalize his fascination for snakes. General Buratai keeps the statuette of an Egyptian cobra on his official desk. He farms snakes. He takes selfies with snakes. He feels an affinity for snakes. He launched ‘Python Dance’ to assert himself. For some reason, Buratai derives a sense of meaning from snakes. His pursuit of a ‘Python Dance’ is a quest to ensure to ensure that his life counts. It’s an attempt to secure historical significance. Buratai has purported to ‘kill’ Abubakar Shekau many times. He has declared Boko Haram defeated countless times. But both Shekau and the death cult he leads continue to exist and kill with abandon. Buratai recently set for himself a 40 day target to get Shekau dead or alive. That deadline passed without any incident. Shekau was not captured. And Buratai did not resign. In fact, after Buratai failed to make good on his promise to capture or kill Shekau, Nigeria’s most serious threat, Buhari rewarded the army chief with the easier task of terrorizing civilians of South East Nigeria. The spoiled general has seized that face-saving, achievable challenge as an opportunity to execute a snake-themed military operation. Nnamdi Kanu was a mere source of bombast on a pirate radio station until President Buhari made him a folk hero. Buhari’s arrest and incarceration of Kanu turned him into a martyr and phenomenon. He is now the most popular Igbo man alive. It furthers the perception that Nigeria continues to maintain a policy of hostility against Igbo people after the 30 month-long civil war that wasted 3 million Biafrans. The deaths and human violations resulting from the operation will inevitably multiply the grievances that are fueling the agitation for Biafra’s secession from Nigeria. The siege on Igboland is legitimizing Kanu’s quest for Biafra’s self-determination. His house arrest will make him a prisoner of conscience. Every state sponsored act of intimidation helps his cause. 'Python Dance' is snake oil. It will avail Nigeria nothing. Except romancing Buhari's paranoia and his army chief's snake fetish. senatordave1: FROM THE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF PUBLIC SERVICE REFORMS: Dr Joe Abah. STATISTICS OF EMPLOYMENTS INTO OUR PUBLIC SERVICE. An attempt to simplify the raw stats/ (A). EMPLOYMENT INTO THE PUBLIC SERVICE 1. NE Population 19.0m PS - 7,793 2. NW Population 35.8m PS - 8,806 3. SE Population 16.4m - 16,540 4. NC Population 20.3m PS- 17,661 5. SS Population 21.0m PS -18,038 6. SW Population 27.6m - 19,620 To appreciate these figures, it is necessary to find out how many employees are taken from every 1 million people in each of the geographical zones. The result is: 1.SE has 1,009 Employees per million 2. NC has 970 Employees per million. 3. SS has 859 Employees per million. 4. SW has 711 Employees per million. 5. NE has 410 Employees per million. 6. NW has 246 Employees per million. Here one can see that SE Zone has over 1000 people engaged in the public service of Nigeria in every 1 million Igbo people whereas only 246 people are engaged in NW. Remember that this is the Zone of the President of Nigeria. Curiously SW, the Zone of the Vice President is the least in Southern Nigeria with the employment of 711 people in a million. It is pertinent to see the trend as regards Political Office holders. Probably, those that lost out in the Public Service, are compensated with Political offices. Let's perform sample surgical operation on the political employees. (B). POLITICAL APPOINTEES. We all have the statistics of political appointees of the current Buhari administration. 1. NW has 51 political appointees from 7 states 2. NC has 47 political appointees from 6 states. 3.NE has 45 political appointees from 6 states 4. SW has 45 political appointees from 6 states 5. SS has 45 political appointees from 6 States. 6. has 41 political appointees from 5 states. This translates to: 1st. SE: 2.50 appointees in a million. 2nd. NE: 2.37 appointees in a million. 3rd. NC: 2.34 appointees in a million. 4th. SS: 2.14 appointees in a million. 5th. SW:1.63 appointees in a million. 6th. NW:1.42 appointees in a million. Alternatively 1st. SE: has 1 appointee in every 400,000. 2nd. NE: has 1 appointee in every 422,000. 3rd. NC: has 1 appointee in every 427,000. 4th. SS: has 1 appointee in every 467,000. 5th. SW: has 1 appointee in every 614,000. 6th. NW: has 1 appointee in every 704,000. Once again topping the list of Beneficiary is South East with one political appointee for every 400,000 people. As if it is an intentional act, NW, from whence the President hails has the least of 1 political appointees for every 704, 000 people while the figure for Osinbajo's Zone is 614,000 and is the least in the South. THIS IS NOT MY DEFINITION OF "MARGINALIZATION" BEING PEDDLED BY SOME NIGERIANS. TRHAT INFACT THE IGBOS ARE THE BIGGEST BENEFICIARIES GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA. The census figures are even worse fabrication of numbers than the so-called civil service figures. It's a joke when someone tells you that Kano is more populous than Lagos even after the creation of Katsina, or that Nigeria is the only country in the World where the desert regions are more populated that the dense forest regions. Bottom line, Nigerian census figures are a farce, just like the criminal army constitution of 1999. Why did you change the parameters from "QUALIFIED APPLICANTS" to the so-called population. So, my friend keep dribbling, confusing others, and being dishonest with stats. |

Lajet: The apex Igbo sociopolitical organisation, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has again accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being bias in his appointments.
Ohaneze cited the recent reorganisation at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, saying that the Southeast has again been sidelined.
According to Ohanaeze, this is exactly why youths in the region are no longer comfortable being called Nigerians.
The Ohaneze’s position was part of a statement signed by its President General, Chief John Nwodo in Abuja on Sunday.
Nwodo said, “Ohaneze is appalled at the consistent and unrepentant disposition of disdain for the South-East by Buhari administration as copiously displayed in the recent reorganisation at the NNPC.
“Ohaneze had thought that after the President’s declaration in a broadcast recently that Nigeria unity had been settled and not negotiable, that he would take all necessary actions in his governance to achieve it, but the recent NNPC shake-up has not shown that the administration is walking its talk.
“Buhari administration, has shown in the new managers just announced tilting clearly in favour of the North, with the South-East totally ignored, as has always been the case since Buhari administration came to office.
“This brazen disregard, marginalization and non-compliance with the Federal character provisions in our constitution are the causes of lack of confidence which our youths have in our present governance structure.
“As long as President Buhari continues to live out his speech abroad that his government will favour those who voted 97 per cent for him against those who voted 5 % for him so long will the dissatisfaction and unrest in our polity subsist.”

Politics › Re: Why Was There Little Call For Biafra When Jonathan Was In Power? by eagleu: 11:39pm On Sep 03, 2017 |
OkunrinMeta: One would imagine that in five years that Jonathan was in Power, if these protests and loud requests for secession was brought forward and it was this loud, It might have been easier for the Igbo nation to get what they seem to want.
Of course there is also the question of whether the agitators actually speak the mind of the Igbo Nation. This is because in my corner of the country, the Igbo men I know do not seem to be very much in support of Master Nnamdi. Still, these issues should be addressed by way of logical two way discussion.
So my questions are:
why is the demand for Biafra more pronounced now?
Did the agitators forget what they wanted before? Did they not want it at the time?
What exactly is the reasonable expectation currently?
Do you want the Hausa man to go and face his onions and cow while leaving the oil for only the east to enjoy because they are very selfless like Jesus?
Would it not have been easier to ask Jonathan to do that?
Are we willing to go back to 1967 to make it happen? For your honesty in accepting that there was call for Biafra during GEJ, I will join this discussion. There has been call for Biafra for a long time now, but something changed, and caused Igbos and even non-Igbos to start listening, agreeing, and now worshiping the the idea of Biafra. What changed? BUHAR! 1. He declared war on the "5%" who he perceived as political enemies. He sang the hate song even before someone played it on the radio. 2. The recent NNPC hiring of 15 northerners, 3 SW, 2 SS, and no SE is a good example of why Nnamdi Kalu is winning souls. Igbos on the average are more educated than Hausas, and Buhari saw no Igbo person fit to work as a manager in NNPC--his pot of gold! 3. Employment of civil servants to exclude Igbos, ditto # 2 above. 4. Education. Instead of moving the country forward and selecting the talented and the gifted, Buhari's nepotism made a bad situation worse. A child in Imo state has to score 220 vs 12 by his Zamfara counterpart to be considered for a spot in Federal government schools. 5. Oh look at the security apparatus of Nigeria, and you will answer your own question about why there was little call for Biafra during GEJ, OBJ, and even Yardua era. 5. Fulani herdsmen have always been an eyesore on Nigeria roads, but it's only during Buhari, that they have become emboldened, organized, and more murderous. Yet not one has ever been arrested, tried, and jailed for raping, killing, and burning down whole communities. Instead, the corrupt Hausa/Fulani military officers would rather talk about cattle rustlers. 6. Religion? Don't even let me remind you of the forceful and steady islamization plans and policies of this Buhari regimen. 7. Buhari has been known to be very corrupt, but smartly enough, he came to power pretending to fight corruption. The difference between his fight and reality is like day and night. Today, if you're his political or religious enemy, you're corrupt and the EFCC and DSS will hunt you down, try your case in the media, and never win a conviction in a court of law. Meanwhile, your life will be ruined without any compensation. Former govs Timipere and Chime of Bayelsa and Enugu were declared free after they joined APC, what a shame. 8. Biafran agitators have always been regarded as funny, even by most Igbos, but Buhari's order to shoot unarmed young people just for wearing Biafran colors certainly turned the tide in their favor. The list goes on, and on, and at every point, the finger points directly to the sick dictator in Aso Rock. Thank you. |

SE Abia - 3579 Anambra - 3576 Ebonyi - 865 Enugu - 2695 Imo - 5825 Total = 16541
NE Adamawa -1727 Bauchi - 1172 Borno - 1822 Gombe - 1218 Taraba -1112 Yobe - 744 Total = 6577
SS Akwa Ibom - 4416 Bayelsa - 957 Cross River - 2681 Delta - 4419 Edo - 3890 Rivers - 1675 Total = 18038
NC Benue - 3951 Kogi - 5186 Kwara - 2537 Nasarawa - 1452 Niger - 2193 Plateau - 2542 Total = 17861
SW Ekiti - 2613 Lagos- 2180 Ogun - 4669 Ondo - 3393 Osun - 3321 Oyo - 3244 Total = 19420
NW Jigawa - 675 Kaduna - 3199 Kano - 1545 Katsina - 1237 Kebbi - 875 Sokoto - 732 Zamfara - 543 Total = 8806
Now those who said Nigeria has marginalized them can they really say so after seeing this . What if the entire North complain about this. U point one finger at someone the rest four fingers are pointing at u So stop playing victims Every part of Nigeria is benefiting either by permanent employment or by appointment (which is temporal) You're trying to confuse people with fake statistics. 1. Tell us what percentage of qualified applicants from Imo state or the SE vs those actually in service. If 100,000 apply from Imo, and you hire 6000, that will be 6% hire rate. Now if 1000 apply from Sokoto, and you hire 700, that's 70% hire rate. Remember the NNPC figures that showed managers from every region? That was fake too. That's why it's criminal for corrupt Hausa officials to insensibly publish this sort of figures. 2. Also tell us what year these figures are coming from ( I bait it's probably from Shehu Shagari era) 3. Tell us representation of states in every level, because that's another way of keeping people from the south permanently as junior workers while less educated northerners fill the management cadre. omenkaLives: Good evening all.
It is no longer news that ex President Goodluck Jonathan indirectly took a swipe at the current administration in response to her plans to clamp down on inflammatory and hate speeches that seem to have become the norm on our social media space. His comments suggested that during his regime Nigerians enjoyed freedoms only comparable to those obtainable in the most advanced countries, especially in the West.
Especially, his fans and supporters had a field day doing what they do best, trying to turn history in its head, just like Jonathan himself, in total disregard for truth and recorded history!
Their conduct was appalling and shocking to say the least.
For some of us, there can be nothing more scandalous than this for we know and will not, in the blink of an eye, forget how oppressive and repressive that regime was. The only credit those of us old and shrewd enough to recollect the past can give to Jonathan as regards respect for democratic freedoms and principles is his concession of defeat in a contest in which he was beaten roundly and squarely.
Let no one be deceived, his acceptance of defeat was as much a favour to Nigeria as it was to himself. He sure knew what might have been had he done otherwise.
Now, let us take a trip down memory lane and peel some skin off "FREEROM ICON" Jonathan, and see just how deserving of the title and accolades he truly is: Comparing the democratic credentials of GEJ with Buhari is like comparing night and day. While GEJ might have been naive, inexperienced, and sometimes down right silly in his approach, Buhari was, is, and always will be a perfect definition of a dictator! Unlike people who work for BMC, I have always said that despite GEJ's short comings, the fact that he basically tolerated people to call him names, abuse him, and even undermined his own government was actually good for our democracy. You have been one of those who had called GEJ many unprintable names here on N/L. However, your tone changed once Buhari moved into Aso Rock, you suddenly started asking for respect for the office. All of a sudden, we don't hear about the Otuoke drunk, dullard, etc; now you want everyone to hail Buhari as the savior he is not. For Buhari, any real or imagined disrespect, opposition, or challenge has to be dealt with formally or informally. Remember what happened to the poor man who committed a crime by naming his dog Buahri? That's just one example of intolerant atmosphere occasioned by Buhari's body language. Prior to wining GEJ, Buhari ran an outlaw radio station called Chanji, where he preached hatred, religious, and ethnic division for many years. Guess what he did when he came into office? He began to arrest outlaw radio operators who used to challenge government like him. Yes, there were some infractions during GEJ administration, some by opposition, some by law enforcement, and some by area boys. GEJ had always vigorous denied these associations to violence. Today, Buhari doesn't even bother acknowledge, address, or deny violence against the opposition, because they are doing his bidding. There is just no way to compare GEJ tenure as president with Buhari's despotic approach to democracy.
Come with me:
1. Governors Forum Crises (2013): A lot of political pundits insist this marked the beginning of Jonathan downfall, forget his crass incompetence.
In a simple election involving 35 participants and two contestants, Jonathan's interference saw to it that this more or less political pressure group was fractured beyond redemption resulting in the formation of the PDP Governors Forum chaired by his stooge Godswill Akpabio and another faction of the forum chaired by his preferred candidate who lost in the contest, Jonah Jang.
The election whose video went rival at that time due to its outcome saw Amaechi pulling 19 votes while Jonah Jang pulled 16. Democrat Jonathan insisted Jang won the election and recognised him as the Chairman of the forum giving rise to the much publicised PDP arithmetics where 16 is greater than 19.
This set the precedence for the scenarios that played out in Rivers and Ekiti Houses of Assembly while our "Hero" stood idly by, giving a tacit nod to the obvious anomalies as state police were used to suppress the opposition.
www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-endorses-gov-jangs-faction/ What's the state of the governors' forum today? A fifth column extra-constitutional body created by ambitious governor to challenge the president and the legislature. Any surprise that today we have mostly APC and PDP governors' forum. Here's one area GEJ fell behind the A-ball, he should have nipped that in the bud a long time ago, before Amaechi used it to form opposition against him. GEJ remained timid, and allowed the association to progress at his own detriment. Imagine what a Buhari would have done to a group of recalcitrant governors plotting against him? He would have either killed them all, or have his attack dogs to after them and members of their families. Yet GEJ just sat there and watched.
2. APC National Leader Harassed by the Military: During the heat of the campaigns, keeping faith with their doctrine of hounding and intimidating opposition figures, Bola Tinubu had his house placed under surveillance by the military when he wasn't indicted for any federal offence. The national leader responded to this in a manner that set social media on fire, placing a banner in front of his house that seemingly pointed the military where they should be looking- Sambisa.
leadership.ng/news/411334/military-places-tinubu-surveillance. Tinubu's problem with stealing public fund started well before OBJ's time, GEJ allowed it to go to trial. When Tinubu won, guess what? The case was discharged. Today, you can count how many opposition politicians have won cases against the government like Tinubu did, and they are still being held by a corrupt dictator called Buhari. You remember Dasuki?
3. Journalists Harassed and Newspapers Confiscated: This was one of the greatest assaults on freedom of speech we witnessed under Jonathan. It was a crackdown reminiscent of the dark days of the Khaki Boys.
Hundreds of papers with publications critical of the government's handling of national issues were confiscated and destroyed. Same guys who supported the actions of the government then screamed blue murder when reports circulated the press that Buhari had barred AIT from covering his activities.

www.punchng.com/news/military-sss-seize-destroy-major-nigerian-newspapers/ In the good old days, when a newspaper published unfavorable article about wealth people, they simply buy up all copies of the paper. Today, that's a waste of time. Buhari's DSS will simply arrest, jail, and even kill the journalist. Remember Dr. Danjuma in Kaduna who crossed El Rufai's and APC line with his honest assessment of south Kaduna Fulani herdsmen massacre? Speaking of Fulani herdsmen, where were they when GEJ's honest government was in office? Today, farmers all over the country are threatened by Buhari and his Fulani brothers, and nobody is saying a word about it. Imaging where this was happening under GEJ, smart media practioneers like Lai Mohammed would fashion out a way to benefit from it politically.
4. APC Office Raided: This was another very dark day in our democratic experience and marked an upsurge in the use of state security agents to harass and gag the opposition. Under the guise of carrying out an investigation, offices of the opposition were raided with computers and other instruments confiscated and destroyed. It was one of the lowest points of the DSS and somewhat signalled its complete evolution into an arm of the PDP.
The DSS at a press conference displayed items "discovered" at the office during the raid and they were computers, hard drives and other electronic accessories- hell it was a data centre!! Were they expecting to find chopsticks and stoves

dailyindependentnig.com/2014/11/apc-office-raid-dss-releases-list-recovered-items/ Buhari's DSS not only closed down PDP with that clown from Borno as a proxy, but thank God for Buhari's illness that allowed the supreme court to return justice to the real PDP. Remember Metuh, Fayose, George, and other PDP members hunted by Buhari extra judicially?
5. Buhari's Plane Barred from Landing: Another shameful incident where a plane conveying opposition bigwigs (then), including her flag bearer, on a campaign trail was refused landing rights in Makurdi and they had to return to Abuja. My question is, what if there wasn't sufficient fuel to take them back to Abuja as they made the u-turn mid-air?? Your guess is as good as mine.

saharareporters.com/2014/11/26/buharis-jet-barred-landing-makurdi Buhari's or Amachi's plane not landing on time was a function of the local airport condition at that time. many times these greedy politicians want first consideration in everything. Today, they do exactly the same thing to other people. Amaechi is transportation minister, how many times have the airports cancelled landings for other Nigerians? the answer is many times.
6. Protesters and Senator Shot in Rivers: Another gut wrenching incident that demonstrated the partisan nature of our security apparatus under ex president Jonathan. In a continuation of the government's crackdown on the opposition, citizens who were on a peaceful protest in Rivers state were shot at with live and rubber bullets and a Senator was hit twice in the chest. Thankfully, he survived and a serious crises was averted.
www.vanguardngr.com/2014/01/rivers-crisis-senator-abe-shot-flown-london/ You're describing a clash between opposing political groups, because GEJ's wife was involved, doesn't make it a GEJ responsibility. Anyway, for Buhari, he will simply draft armed solders to come shoot t he opposition, and then cover up later. The senator "shot in the chest twice" is alive and healthy after the gun shot wounds that didn't produce 1 drop of blood gave him an acting opportunity in front of the cameras. We actually remember the truth! On the contrary, go ask shiek Zaky and his followers who were brutally murdered by Buhari's army in Kaduna for belonging to a different islamic sect.
7. APC Women Protesters Teargassed: This was another horrid incident that demonstrated the ex president's disdain for opposition and civil liberties.

Jonathan Orders Withdrawal of Speaker's Security Detail: Arguably the most vicious assault on our democracy by the ex president. This much publicised incident that needs no introduction earned the ex president (and deservedly so) local and international disrepute and condemnation. People had started to see him as the worst civilian dictator in the country's history. If you ask me, this incident drove the last nail into the coffin of Jonathan's 2015 ambition.

Saraki is still suffering from Buhari's attempt to choke the life out of him, while Tambuwal get mouth to talk nonsense!
9. Soldiers shoot to disperse protesters in Ojota, Lagos as secret police raids CNN's office: Here's another account of Jonathan's "tollerance" for freedom and human rights. We can all remember that administration's response to Occupy Nigeria protests except of course we want to be deliberately forgetful.
http://saharareporters.com/2012/01/16/soldiers-shoot-disperse-occupy-protesters-lagos-nigerian-secret-police-raids-cnns-office
These are but a few events the Mr Freedom subjected Nigerians to. Indeed it would be a herculean task convincing people of sound minds as to the propriety of referring to Mr Jonathan as a protector and promoter of freedoms in this country.
Thanks for reading. Occupy was an early trial balloon by Tinubu and associates to test the waters, they obstructed non participants, and once again GEJ failed to nip thing in the bud, he allowed it to fester. For Buhari, an opposition figure like Tinubu for GEJ would have since been in jail, charged, prosecute, and jailed in the press by Buhari's EFCC and DSS, and of course without any formal court sentencing! |
Politics › Re: Nigerian Civil War: The Igbos Drew First Blood. by eagleu: 7:30pm On May 29, 2017 |
baminasri: Fifty years ago on January 15, 1966, the first military coup d’ etat was carried out in Nigeria by junior soldiers, toppling the government of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Tafawa Balewa thereby rewriting the political, social and military history of the country – forever. On the morning of the coup, Kaduna Nzeogwu, the leader of the coup plotters led soldiers in Kaduna to take over the house of Ahmadu Bello, the leader of the northern region. He was summarily killed after the house was ransacked. Brig Samuel Ademulegun, the commander of 2nd brigade and his wife were reportedly shot by Nzeogwu's co-conspirator, Maj Timothy Onwuatuegwu. In Lagos, Sir Tafawa Balewa who was the prime minister was taken out of his mansion at gun point. His body was reportedly discovered six days later. The attack was led by Emmanuel Ifeajuna. The attack in Ibadan was led by Capt. Emmanuel Nwobos and although there was a scuffle, Samuel Akintola was eventually killed. Major General Aguiyi Ironsi took over government as the first military head of state but the nature of the coup made it look like powerful northerners were killed while their Igbo counterparts were spared. Also, most of the key coup plotters were Igbos and although an Igbo, Arthur Unegbe was killed, it was soon tagged an Igbo coup. It was to change the history of the country forever. The coup, though not completely successful laid the foundation for coups and counter coups in Nigeria. Just six months after the first coup, a counter coup was carried out leading to the death of Ironsi. The coup, popularly referred to as the return match, was planned and carried out by northern officers. It was evident that the attack was retaliation for the first coup. Although the officers that carried out the January coup were still in detention, the fact that they had not been tried for treason and were still on the payroll of the government sent a signal to the northerners that the Igbos wanted to dominate. Aguiyi Ironsi The counter coup would not be the last as officers grew more experienced in coup planning. Bloodier coups followed as senior military men masterminded and carried out more potent coups. Abortive and unsuccessful coup planners were unceremoniously hanged but the tradition of toppling government through a coup continued until 2007 when the former president Olusegun Obasanjo successfully handed over power to Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. Still it was reported that Obasanjo took stringent measures to prevent the toppling of his government by retiring senior military personnel. Although the Biafra civil war began in July, 1967, the genesis could be traced to the first coup of January 1966. The supposed Igbo coup strained relationship between the Hausas in the north and Igbos in the east. Following the counter coup in July, 1966, Igbos reportedly became victims of violent attacks in the north while little was done by the then head of state, Yakubu Gowon. Tension grew and an attempt to salvage the situation failed after the Aburi Accord in Ghana in January, 1967. A few months later, Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu, the military governor of the eastern region declared the region an independent Biafra state. What followed was a bloody war that lasted for three years. Although Nigeria returned to being a single country, the event led to the formation of different separatist groups calling for the declaration of an independent state of Biafra. The detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra on charges of treason is due to his agitation for an independent Biafra state; an agitation that is remotely connected to the first coup in 1966. Nigeria was divided into four regions: Northern region, Western region, Mid-Western region and Eastern region. While the formation of states was something that would eventually happen, the speedy creation of 12 states three days before the start of the civil war was a way to weaken the strength of the Eastern region. The eastern region was broken up into Central Eastern, South Eastern, and Rivers state. It changed the country's setup from regionalism to statehood. The creation of states created a crack in what used to be perceived as a unified eastern region. This was a tactic used by the federal government to establish scattered region that could be handled individually. This was a reaction to the brewing civil war which is also connected to the coup of 1966. Although the number would eventually rise to 36, the creation of 12 states was very significant at that time. The military’s involvement and participation in Nigeria’s politics and governance can be traced to the first coup of 1966 when the civilian government was toppled and replaced with a military rule. Since then military rule continued till 1979 when a civilian government took over. Four years later, another military coup ousted the civilian government until 1999 when an election was carried out and Obasanjo, a former military officer was sworn in as president. Since the military tasted power in 1966, the desire for government increased. Officers who served as military governors or held leadership positions have shed their uniforms to occupy or contest in elective positions in the country. Among them are the aforementioned Obasanjo and the current president, Muhammadu Buhari. Ojukwu and Ibrahim Babangida showed interest in also becoming the president. Other former military men who occupied or contested in elective positions are David Mark, Jonah Jang, Tunde Olurin, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Murtala Nyako and Tunde Ogbeha. Northern Dominance In Nigerian Military Ibrahim Babangide and Sani Abacha. Both were chiefs of army staff and later became heads of state The military coup of 1966 ushered in an Igbo head of state, Aguiyi Ironsi. It was evident therefore that Ironsi got the position because he was the chief of army staff, the most senior commissioned officer. Whether by design or nature, the position was not occupied by an Igbo officer for more than 40 years. This automatically reduced the chances of an Igbo officer occupying the position of Head of State as three heads of states were former chief of army staff. Azubuike Ihejirika The position rather was mostly occupied by northern military officers which gave the region the chance to produce most of the military heads of state in the country. It took 44 years after Ironsi for an Igbo to return to the position of chief of army staff with the appointment of Azubuike Ihejirika by the then president Goodluck Jonathan. Why didn't you say, "An Igbo drew first blood" Instead of Igbos, as a way to justify mass killing of every Igbo person. Next time Fulani hersdsmen invade and pillage a community, maybe we should chase all Fulanis down the way Igbos were chased down. |

360metrosports: The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) says more than 10,000 candidates caught for examination malpractices in the on-going UTME in Anambra have been handed over to the appropriate authority.
Mrs Lynda Nwachukwu, the Coordinator of the board in Anambra disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Saturday.
NAN reports that the all computer-based testing (CBT) mode 2017 UTME, which started on May 13 in 642 centres nationwide, ended on May 20.
Nwachukwu said that the examination, which took place in 28 centres in the state, was successful.
“There was no disruption of the exercise in any of the examination centres,’’ she said.
The coordinator said that the candidates adhered strictly to the requirements of the examination, adding that JAMB provided all the materials required for the examination.
NAN correspondent, who monitored the last batch of the examination, reports that some parents complained of system failure in some CBT centres in the state.
Mrs Eucharia Okonkwo, a parent, said her daughter, who wrote the examination at the St Mary’s High School Ifite-Dunu centre, could not complete the examination due to the faulty computer and network failure at the centre.
According to her daughter, many candidates could not complete the questions in record time because of the faulty system.
Okonkwo advised JAMB to plan well for examination in subsequent years to avoid the technical hitches that could give the candidates psychological trauma.
Dr. Mose Mojekeh, Head, Department of Marketing at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, told NAN on a telephone, that such system failure in UTME was not acceptable.
According to him, the hiccups could potentially deny young people from Anambra State, university admission.
Mojekeh advised JAMB to urgently collate the number of candidates affected and set another examination for them.
He also decried the practice whereby JAMB sends officials from one state to supervise examinations in another state.
“Experience has shown that such officials do not care much about the candidates when problems arise, as they leave them to their fate,’’ the lecturer said.
He called on the management of schools, whose candidates experienced the computer failure, to take their complaints to the State Ministry of Education to present their cases.
NAN reports that the JAMB concluded its CBT on May 20. (NAN)
