Una no dey taya for this Biafra tory?. The future is what is at stake in Nigeria now and not the past. To those that think the power in Nigeria will remain in the north forever, let me borrow a leaf from Barrack Obama's speech which says:

"What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government."

I clap over and over again.

I can't believe that you guys have enough time to go back and forth with a rabid tribal dog like TPIA. Didn't i warn you guys that she's capable of poisoning someone especially if that someone is igbo. I am sure Osisi is not surprised she threatened to feed her children with acid. There's what I call the TPIA effect on my life now and that is this feeling of paranoia anytime I enter a yoruba owned restraunt and meet a scar faced obese middle aged yoruba woman looking to serve me. I always think she could be TPIA and who knows what she'll add in my food or at least spit inside the food. TPIA is capable of spitting in your food if there are no acids or rat poisons around. It remains a mystery till this day what igbos did to her. I still think one igbo dude knocked her up 3 times and had her abort the babies in a chemist shop thereby damaging her womb. What could be worse for a woman?

I think you are looking for the Thread of Hindu and occult, and then the babalawos and masonic. Thats will be in the general/religion mother board. This section is for the Muslims, the slaves and servants who are not proud and never arrogant to state their positions. We recognise that we are slaves and servants and are not passing for sons or daughters of our Creator.
You guys are slaves to Allah or Mohammed? What kind of God enslaves his own children?. Thank God for Jesus because He made us princes and princesses by His sacrifice and we are no more slaves to anything rather we are small gods made in His image and likeness. I never knew there is still slavery after the one that happened in the US. You guys need another Abe Lincoln to challenge your allah for enslavement.

You dey mind your christian sister. For Funmi, everything and anything permissable. She thinkss she is more than one woman. Thats what she thinks, until Allah gives her a Jarus, or a Muhsin. She will then know the difference between real man and the boys she has been hanging around. But guys, no more than one brother can be talking to any woman, at one time. The other brother needs his brother to have a full attention and consideration from the woman.
When did muslims start calling each other 'brothers'? . Jarus is a gentleman and I wouldn't like to subdue him. If it were you that married me, you will be rest assured that you will be a slave for two masters. One for your allah and the other for Erelu, the goddess of your life. tongue tongue tongue tongue

Obama's inauguration, an act of God - Adeboye

By Our correspondent

The General Overseer, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said the inauguration of President Barrack Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America, is an act of God.

www.openheavens.rccg.org
The General Overseer of the Re

He said it was the instrumentality of God that God made it possible for Obama with his African background to defeat the wife of a former President, Mrs. Hilary Clinton and defeat the Republican Candidate, Senator John McCain, to become the president.

He said God had already told him that there would be a new world order, adding that the emergence of Obama vindicated that prophecy.

He spoke in Lagos during the dedication of the provincial headquarters and the inauguration of the RCCG Lagos Province 22, Ikorodu on Saturday.

He also said the country needed prayers to stop religious crisis and the attendant human and material loss.

The cleric also said his nomination as one of the 50 most influential people was God's ability to make one with unknown background a global reference point.

Adeboye said, "God said He would do a new thing. Before the end of the year, a black American became the President of America. Only God can do that, particularly when his (Obama's) father was from Africa.

"And we know that a son of a woman does not ascend the throne, but Almighty God decided to do a new thing and somebody said 'this is the first time, a black man will defeat white woman and become the President of America."

"It happened because God said in the beginning that He would do a new thing.

"I was named as one of the 50 most influential people. This is God's act. God can pull the son of an unknown man and make him a global reference point."

UNILAG first class graduates share secrets of success

By Segun Olugbile and James Azania

Since his emergence as the best graduating student of the University of Lagos in its last convocation, Olumuyiwa Sosina, 21, of the Department of Mathematics/Statistics, has been inundated with a series of job offers. But he is not keen at considering any of them. For now, his priority is to complete his mandatory National Youth Service Corps.

Sosina emerged the best student, having secured a cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.96 out of a possible 5.0. He was one of the 103 first class graduates produced for the first time by UNILAG. The Enginnering department produced 33 of the 103 students that bagged first class.

The graduate told one of our correspondents that he would neither consider himself a bookworm nor extra-ordinary. He said, "I am that kind of student that cannot engage in private study beyond two hours at a time. What I did was to keep to my time-table at the end of which I went about just like any other student."

Apart from academic activities while in school, the aspiring systems programmer revealed that he only participated in the activities of the local branch of the Deeper Life Bible Church on campus. One thing he regrets though was his flat-footedness on the dancing floor. He said, "I did not attend parties and that could be why I am not a good dancer. I wish I could dance better."

Sosina said he had had a series of offers from organisations since the convocation, but was not at the moment keen on taking up on any of them.

He, however, said he would consider returning to UNILAG for his master's programme, and probably go for his Doctorate and maybe consider a teaching job within the institution.

Though undecided about what ways to veer, Sosina, has a preference for work as a computer programmer. He has therefore enrolled for a foundation course in the programme.

Asked how he related with the opposite sex on campus, he said he had his own fair share of relationships, both with the opposite sex and male colleagues.

"Yes, I related well with others while on campus, including the females, but my relationship was platonic. There was nothing untoward, and we all liked and respected one another."

His advice to those coming behind was simple. "Face your studies and don't let distractions come between you and what you aim to achieve,'' he said.

Ubanabia Onuoha also graduated with First Class Award from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She was the only female student that got first class in the department.

The Abia State-born graduate, who grew up in Lagos, said it was yet the greatest achievement of her life and that it felt wonderful. She revealed that to attain the feat she reviewed and built upon her previous efforts every year and every day.

She also said she had received several job offers from multi-national corporations. "But I want to get set for the one year national service programme and hope to do a master's degree course, before considering any employment,'' she told our correspondent.

She said her civil-servant parents had been supporting her efforts. "They were totally supportive all the way, and I know I can always count on them. I am proud of them, and they are proud of me, and I am happy to bring them this great honour."

She advised those coming behind to have confidence in themselves, believe in themselves and do their best. "You never know how far you can go when you just put your best into everything you do," she said.

Also, the overall winner of best Ph.D thesis, Dr. Ayodele Elizabeth Omotayo, of the Department of Microbiology, observed that research was an important tool for the development of any nation.

She emerged the best doctoral graduate with her thesis, titled, "Enrichment and Molecular Characterisation of Atrazine-Degrading Actinomycetes Isolated from Polluted Nigerian Commercial Farmlands."

She said, " The developed countries are where they are today because of their investments in research. I want to implore my colleagues, who are graduating today to be self-reliant. We should not just seek white-collar jobs but create jobs where possible.''

Giving reasons for increase in the number of first class graduates this year, the Vice -Chancellor, UNILAG , Prof. Tolu Odugbemi, attributed the development to scholarship, direct teaching allowance and peace on the campus.

"So many factors could be responsible for this. But I think that the peaceful atmosphere that we have created, the improved teaching and learning conditions, exposure of students to the Internet through multiple inter-connectivity spots on campus must be partly responsible for this wonderful performance," he said.

Odugbemi noted that the university had enjoyed peace and unhindered academic calendar, following the riot embarked upon by students to protest irregular supply of electricity on campus in 2005.

"Without peace, there can be no progress. And since peace has been prevailing on the campus, we have unhindered academic calendar, our lecturers are doing a great job and the students are motivated to work harder. Now they have access to the Internet to do their assignments," he said.

He added that the Federal Government's direct teaching allowance to all the departments had been a good source of motivation for faculty members.

"The students are simply reacting to a conducive environment. It is not that students are not good, but sometimes when the environment is not friendly, they get discouraged and before you know it, they lose interest. But when you encourage them, they will be motivated to give their best."

Odugbemi said the lecturers too were motivated to give their best because they are now rewarded for good performance. "We encourage ourselves with the research fair and the publications of our research fair on our web site. So, as lecturers work harder and become a challenge to the students, so are the students."

He added that the scholarship scheme introduced by the immediate-past Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Chief Afe Babalola, also contributed to the increasing number of first class graduates.

The scholarship scheme is for students that possess a cumulative grade point average of 4.0 at the end of an academic session, the indigent, distinguished sportsmen and women and those with leadership skills.

The Dean, Students Affairs, Prof. Dele Alonge, shared the VC's views. He said the number of first class graduates increased shortly after the scholarship scheme was introduced.

Some of the students, who spoke with one of our correspondents, said that the scholarship had engendered healthy competition among them.

"N50,000 is no small money, it helps in no small way in pursuance of one's academic programme and apart from that one is also entitled to accommodation, so I have been working hard to win the scholarship," a 200-Level student of Political Science who simply identified himself as Lanre said.

It will be very difficult for the south to unite against the north because of the following reasons

Most igbos are yet to forget the 20pounds policy after the war thereby heaping hate rightly or wrongly on the yorubas in general

The perceived turn around of the of awolowo before civil war

The niger delta fear of dominance by igbos in which they feel more secured with the north as examplified by south south leaders holding a meeting with the north on how there can be more cooperation btw them some time ago.

Constitutional conference of 1995 where the south west aligned with the north to vote against resource control.
Is it right to blame the sins of one person on the whole ethnic group?. No matter what we believe or want to believe, it may never make a difference unless we charge the North up to their dismal game. Enough is enough for these Northern ilk. What country on earth can do well under these dire circumstances?. If you allow a goro chewing, dagger slinging illiterate jihadist to rule you, you will end up with an abysmal economy and general state of affairs.

For the quarter north, quarter yoruba double faced facetious broad that rejoice with the Northern oligarchs, I congratulate you but don't come complaining when your motherland is declared a state of emergency in the near future.

For this to happen in Nigeria, it is a big deal. I mean we hear of such things taken place in other countries but in Nigeria? there is definitely hope and only God knows how soon before we start reading more news of people refusing to pay bribe to the police or at the post office or any government office in the hundreds, and maybe in the thousands. lol . Me I dey watch the trend down there to see if time done reach make person come back come stand up against all these corrupt people we get for government and leadership all over the country. The last thing all man want be say make im reach naija, waka sey im dey go confront one leader or politician, make the people take stab am for back as soon as im turn to face the person im wan confront.

If there is anything I am most afraid of when it comes to Nigeria, it is the people, not the government.

ASABA—WIFE of the controversial politician, Senator Arthur Nzeribe, Mrs. Tonia Nzeribe and her company, Odazee Nigeria Limited which was handling the construction of the high court building complex in Asaba before its collapse on September 2, 2007, has been blacklisted and banned alongside the company from handling any of the state government's projects.

Consequently, the said high court building contract worth N58.4 million awarded to her company, Odazee Nigeria Limited in 1999 during former Governor James Ibori’s administration has been revoked and all outstanding payments due her and the company declared forfeited to the state government.

The Commissioner in charge of Projects Monitoring in the state, Chief Ejaife Odebala, stated this in Asaba, yesterday, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state Executive Council (exco) meeting held on Sunday.

Odebala told journalists that in addition, the blacklisted contractor will be prosecuted by the state Ministry of Justice for her actions that led to the collapse of the building.

Also, the Director of Public Building in the Delta State Ministry of Housing, Mr. Henry Aghwadoma, an Architect by profession including six other top ministry officials in Works and Housing have been downgraded.

Others are Architect E.C. Madumezia, Arc. C.I. Njoagwani, Arch. E.I. Nmor, Engr. E.E. Ugbomah, Engr.E.O. Olloh and Mr. E.O. Evujohwo-Omashola over their respective roles in the collapse of the building.

Odebala also said that the exco took a decision that the collapsed building be demolished and a new structure be provided for.

The state Chief Judge, Justice Rosaline Bozimo, had told the Inter-Ministerial Committee that probed the collapsed complex that the best thing to do in the circumstance was to pull it down entirely, saying “we are scared”.

The CJ while testifying through the Chief Registrar, Mrs. Helen Akpotohwo, said: “I am here on the instruction of the Chief Judge, it is the Chief Judge’s contention that the building be brought down completely, we are scared”.

Under cross-examination she denied that the state judiciary ever gave approval for purported extension from the original one-floor building contrary to the contractor’s claim. that the end user, which is the judiciary gave their consent to the addition. But the CJ told the panel “I don’’t think we requested for additional floor we did not request for it”, she stated.

Student sues police commissioner, alleges N500,000 bribe

A student, Dare Olaiya, has dragged the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, before an Ile-Ife High Court for allegedly demanding a bribe of N500, 000 from him in order to set him free from an alleged murder charge.

According to an affidavit in support filed on behalf of Olaiya by an Osogbo-based law firm, Atirene Wilson Chambers, the applicant claimed that he did not commit any murder.

He, however, alleged that he was implicated by the police after he refused to part with the money.

A woman was said to have been allegedly murdered in Ife area of Osun State last December during a robbery.

A friend of Olaiya, Adeboye Oluwaseun, who is the first accused person, was also charged for partaking in the robbery that led to the murder.

The police reportedly swooped in on the friends and acquaintances of Oluwaseun, among whom is Olaiya, who was arrested inside a church in Ile-Ife at a service held during the week on December 4, 2008.

The affidavit said a minor, during police interrogation, had absolved Olaiya of complicity in the robbery and murder by saying that he did not see Olaiya at the scene of the robbery.

The affidavit reads in part, "That on the day in question, the said Adeboye Oluwaseun had visited the house of the applicant (Olaiya) and when informed that the applicant had gone to the church, he decided to join him there.

"Adeboye Olawaseun was arrested on his way to the church and when asked where he was going to, he said that he was going to join the applicant in the church.

"The police in their usual fashion of trying to arrest as many people as possible, came to the church, held up the entire congregation with guns, notwithstanding the fact that it was only the applicant that was known to the said Adeboye Oluwaseun."

The midfielder, who did not play in Chelsea's 3-1 FA Cup fourth round victory over Ipswich Town that day, has reportedly been charged since.
