If the river is flowing to the right (ie due East) and the man intends to paddle the boat across the river bank (ie due North), the man will paddle the boat to north west instead of due north, due to the flow of the river (or water current). After knowing this. we can now find the direction he will go so as to reach his destination....sin @=5/8=0.625....@=sin^-1 0.625.....N39 degrees W (approx) or 321 degrees (ie 360-39). Note that the former ans is in the compass bearing and the latter is in the 3-figure bearing. N.B: The textbook where u got the question frm gave the ans in 3-figure bearing.

Is this solution correct: Using law of universal gravitation F=GMm/r^2.... assuming that GMm is constant.....distance between planet and satellite=144km, radius of planet rp=5760km, radius of satellite rs=5760+144=5904km....Fs*rs^2 = Fp*rp^2.....Fs/Fp=rp^2/rs^2....Fs/Fp=5760^2/5904^2=0.9518.....% of Fs/Fp=0.9518*100=95.18%; approx. 95%. The ans is 100-95=5%. Therefore it is less than 5%.

I could see some people have one question or the other. Let me just summarize the answers those questions.
UI is unpredictable, they can bring 5 calculations in physics just like 2017 Saturday putme, or they can bring 21 calculations in physics, just like 2017 Friday putme. ( putme is conducted for two days, and two different set of questions will be set for each subject, you might be lucky to get pure theory without calculations )
Yours is to prepare for anything.
To those aspiring for mbbs and scored low in jamb, I have said it before, you have a great chance. I have seen someone with 268 in jamb in my department. Yours is just to spank your putme.
Mind you, your jamb score doesn't predict how you perform in putme. The guy who scored the highest in 2014 putme (90%) scored 248 in utme.
Lastly, for the person who want to enquire about UI putme after sitting for UNN putme, I really don't think it's possible.

And, this' my Fear.

That is why I said 82+ which implies that you have to aim to score above 82 in putme....Determining cut off marks depends on the number of applicants for a particular course and rate of candidates who pass putme. The cut off marks this year may be high or low depending on these two criteria.

Using last year modality (utme/8+putme/2), you already have about 31.5 points. This means that u need abt 41 points to meet last yr cut off, meaning that u have to score 82+ in putme. If you can get that score, u are good to go but if u can't, u have to change to other courses. But UI registration is already closed now. Just try to score high in putme.

A is the answer. During the electrolysis of aqueous solution of sodium chloride. At the cathode, we have H+ and Na+. But H+ will b preferentially discharged and liberated at the cathode. At the anode, we have OH- and Cl-. But Cl will be preferentially discharged since OH- and Cl- are close to each other. Cl- is liberated at the anode. This leaves out Na+ and OH- in the electrolyte making the electrolyte alkaline.
